Tammy symptoms and conditions

I only took Levoxyl for 5 days then stopped. The first couple of days were just headaches and extreme nausea. At night I would have sweats and during the day chills. I was going to live with these side effects but then on the fourth day I started being nervous, my face was flushing and one of the veins in my leg swelled. Then on the fifth day - along with everything else I began feeling a little weakness in my muscles - but the kicker was my toes and fingers were so sore and hurt so bad I couldn't stand it. My fingers felt as if I had been typing non stop all day - first thing in the morning and all day long. I called my physician who said that Levoxyl couldn't give any of those symptoms and I was imagining it all. I WAS NOT imagining any of it! I didn't wake up and say,"oh, i want my fingers and toes to hurt all day long for no reason". He didn't like me questioning him, but I wasn't questioning him, I was questioning Levoxyl. I asked him if there were any withdrawal symptoms and he said no. So I stopped taking it. Of course, I am not symptom free yet, as I figure it will take a couple days to get out of my system. My thyroid is slow and I know I am going to need to take something - I just wonder what suggestions other people with Levoxyl have done. And if anyone who has gone off it, actually had worse problems in the withdrawal phase. I know five days isn't that much, but I think my body is very medicine sensitive and responds very well. I started taking Bactrim for impetigo, and a week later my whole body was itchy, red, swollen, and had huge welts everywhere. It was horrible. I'd never had an allergic reaction to a drug before, so it was very difficult.

Hi Tammy, I had exactly the same symptoms that you are having while I was on Yasmin. I also was very nauseous, similar to when I was pg and I had leg pains (SCARY). I took all caffeine out of my diet and I am drinking water every day. It is helping. I unfortunately am also taking EffexorXR 37.5 to control my anxiety which is elevating my BP as well.

Hawkhillmom, I am 36 and am off of all BCP since late Jan 2006. I agree with Hill that I too am better off without them. I had the same type of attack that you did and I can only correlate it to the Yasmin that I was taking. I am so out of balance right now, it is unreal. I also have 2 kids that I need to take care of. I am seeing a nurse practitioner on a regular basis (I live in NJ, USA) and she is helping with my meds. I have my ups and downs with anxiety levels, but I pray that there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

You both should speak with your doctor about the side effects that you are experiencing.

I've just read posts over the past few weeks and wanted to find out from anyone who has stopped taking Yasmin if they have tried detoxing and cleansing the body after they went off of it? I read on another site that someone did that and it helped her tremendously but wanted to hear from others. I'm for sure considering it if it will actually help cleanse my system any quicker. I fortgot to add in my earlier post about the tingling in my arms and muscle weakness as well as extreme anxiety/stress/depression. I did mention before but have had extreme weight gain. However, I'm also experiencing brain fog, problems with memory and just the whole thought process. I believe I will also try reading all of the books suggested.

Hello Everyone,

I've been taking Yasmin for 8 months now and have had major weight gain... 115 to 160. My blood pressure has gone up and I contribute that to becoming stressed or depressed even easier then I would normally (the weight gain makes me even more depressed). I'm seriously considering to stop taking Yasmin and go from there. The only other time I've ever been this large was when I was pregnant so there must be a hormonal connection. I still occassionally have hot flashes.

I have been taking Yasmin for about 6-7 months due to abnormally long periods after the birth of my second baby at age 37. I also have a tumor in my uterus that might be causing painful intercourse, so the Dr. said to take it for three months straight and then have a period. In the meantime I have noticed severe sotmach cramps and diarriha (how ever you spell it) since October. Funny thing was that the first round I was suppose to take 2 months of Yasmin and at the end of the second month have a period, then do 3 months and have a period, but I noticed that on the 2nd month after I had my period (which I acutally stopped taking Yasmin since the white pill is only a placebo) and then started back on the next round of the 3 month cycle I started having real bad stomach cramps, etc. I am about to have my 2nd period of the 3 month cycle and I won't take the placebo and see if my stomach feels better. If it does, then I am stopping Yasmin. Another note, I take Yasmin at night and wake up at 1 am and 4 am like clockwork with stomach pain. I will keep everyone posted after the "placebo" period to see if my stomach gets better. I anyone has any similar symptoms, please let me kow. Tammy.
