Some of this may be TMI for some, but I believe in not pulling the punches:

I had mine inserted 12/07 when my youngest was 8 weeks old. I had the para-guard (no hormone) previously and loved it, I didn't take into account how poorly I have done with hormonal BC in the past (2 pregnancy's on the pill, 30lbs weight gain in 6 weeks of the patch, constant 'morning sickness' with the shot, etc) all I heard was no more periods....

After doing the HGC diet (as a last resort) I am finally down to the weight I was 2 days before my dd was born. At my peak I was 20lbs more. I want to get pregnant again next spring, but I have at least 35 lbs to loose before even considering it.

I bleed 2-3 weeks out of the month- too light for even the lightest tampons, but still no fun. I have actually developed raw spots from wearing a pad ALL THE TIME since I never know when the bleeding will start.

And, best of all, I hate sex. I have always had a great sex drive (I'm 29 with four kids) but now if my husband even looks like he's thinking about it I snap at him. When I finally give in (maybe once a month!) it hurts horribly for days- two main types: even with copious amounts of lube I am still dry enough that I feel swollen and bruised. On top of that I cramp for a full day - Feels like I've been punched in the stomach repeatedly. And then the bleeding starts.

Also some (relatively mild) acne, constant, but manageable (never a problem before). Including some in the groin area that end up as boils when on a stretch mark. I had never attributed it to my IUD until reading these posts, but had never had them previously.

The only reason I've had it this long is we lost our insurance shortly after the baby was born (DH laid off after 10 years in construction) I am calling my doctor on Monday to find out how much it will cost to have it removed!

I would ( and have) recommend IUD's to all my friends, but if any have ever had a problem with any hormones- para guard it is!!

I had mine removed this week - thank the lord above!!! However, it has been rough and be forewarned that I experienced horrific cramping and HEAVY bleeding for nearly five days. I also had terrible back pains and some pain down my legs as well as some mental fogginess. I only had it in about one month and had gained 3 pounds and outgrown my bras! So now, two boxes of tampons later, I finally stopped bleeding altogether about 24 hours ago and the cramping has subsided. I feel mentally clearer and, believe it or not, have some semblance of libido - my husband is thrilled!

I am exploring other options for managing hormonal changes in perimenopause - including evening primrose oil and am still doing lots of yoga (even during the pain periods I did lots of yoga to help me manage)...Mainly, I feel so betrayed by the doctors (two women half my age) who insisted my symptoms were "all in my head" - to those of you planning for removal I encourage you to tell the medical professionals you work with that you are NOT crazy and NOT the only one experiencing these side effects. I personally believe that many women get too much progestin in the Mirena (which is not Progesterone, either) and this, in addition to overloading our estrogen, is enough to make us completely insane and miserable. I say let nature work its course as regards my own perimenopause and to those out there using Mirena for birth control I managed to avoid pregnancy with little concern using natural/rhythm methods and condoms as well as a diaphragm, conceiving my two beautiful (now teenage) sons without any intervention from hormones except my own. I am going to do peri and menopause the same way here on out. !!!!

Would love to hear how long it took for weight and stomach fat to go away after the removal from anyone who has been there - I eat very healthfully and exercise daily so I knew the pregnant look I got after that month with the Mirena was not due to one too many cookies )as my doctor seemed to infer !

Mirena has helped my sex drive, I know women are different, but I seem to just get turned on for no apparent reason since about 2 weeks into the Mirena. My cramping is different than without the Mirena but definitely manageable. My periods lasted 10 days before the Mirena, with the first 5 days being extremely heavy and after having 1 period with the Mirena, I've noticed positive changes. My period was still 10 days but it was much more even, and I only used Light flow tampons the WHOLE period.
My breasts were barely an A cup before Mirena, and i had significant swelling and tenderness before my period, and after my period the swelling went down almost all the way and the tenderness was gone, but I've got a definite A cup now, plus this month's swelling is closer to a B cup. I'm hoping each month's swelling will bring me back to my before having children B cup.
I'm doing great with the Mirena. I'm sorry to see so many who it isn't working for.

Okay...this is amazing, cause I thought I was crazy but now I know all of us are!!!hahah...I had the Mirena put in in early October. I am perimenopausal and my hubby has a vasectomy. The docs encouraged it to help with my menopausal symptoms, primarily irregular cycles and cramping due to not bleeding - they said that was due to low progesterone and the Mirena would work wonders. I had it put in (very very painful - and this from a woman who gave birth, at home, two separate times with nothing but a midwife and some gentle massaging during the birthings!) and never stopped bleeding. Not once! I have gone through two boxes of tampons and three of pads. I have cramping all the time, and low back ache. I noticed that my bras felt really sore and enlarged (so did hubby) and they grew overnight. I gained three pounds and started crying at the time. The final insult: no sex drive. zippo. none at all. I also have terrible vagina odor which is, I know gross to admit, but a very new thing. I think that there are many women who simply cannot tolerate these hormones. Our bodies know what to do and I am going to brave the change without intervention. I went to see doctor today and, of course, she tried to talk me out of removal. She even had the nerve to say that it was good to have in, to protect my uterus, for eventual Hormone replacement therapy -as if I had ever mentioned that as an option? I looked at her and said, "take it out". Now I don' t know if this is imagination, but I swear the cramps have abated in the past several hours. I am still bleeding but feel hope for its ending. I would not recommend this to anyone and to those out there being told its value in managing menopausal symptoms, move on. It is not worth it - the change is change enough!

At 32 years old, this is my first experience with birth control and I have to say that I'm completely miserable. I'm eleven days into my first pack of pills, have been bleeding (like my regular period, maybe even worse!) since Tuesday, and decided this morning that i'm DONE. I'm taking this pill for contraceptive reasons only - and if I keep taking them, I won't need them anyway because my boyfriend will surely have dumped me. I'm moody, I'm tired, I have headaches, I can't sleep, my cramps are horrible today (and I've never had cramps in my life), and this out of control blood loss is a little concerning. I called my doc's office yesterday to see if I can stop abruptly, and they told me to finish the whole pack and THEN stop - but I cannot take one more day of this nonsense. My biggest concern with stopping midway through my pack is that I'll be really screwing up my cycle, but something is definitely already screwed up, so how much worse can if really get? Does anyone have any experience with just stopping birth control abruptly, and if so, what should I expect? THANKS!

yea im eighteen and got mirena inserted last year December when i was seventeen. i've never had a baby so i was worried that it would hurt a lot. but my mom and aunts pressed on for me to get it done. so i agreed because they claimed it was the best birth control ever. the actual insertion wasn't at all a difficult experience. but as soon as i got into the car and sat down excruciating painful cramps would hit me in waves. that has to be the worst pain i've felt yet to this day. at work i'd b on the ground crouched over trying to wait the pain out. i could have cried if i'd allowed myself. soon i became hooked on taking advil everyday to escape the pain. it worked as long as i remembered the little pill every morning. the cramp last from December to march. they are gone now i guess. and ever since a month after insertion i've been having odorous discharge. its very embarrassing so i use tampons to 'plug' the discharge from going out. i realize it probably isn't the smartest thing to do but i have no choice.

I am so surprised to read that. I had Mirena for over one year after my first baby and think it is the best thing in the world! I cannot wait to get a new one! I had it removed to I could get pregnant again. I felt the IUD for about a week and my periods became lighter and lighter each month. When I had it remove I only had my period for literally 2-5 minutes each months and never had to use tampons or napkins. It was a big change for me, because I use to have super heavy periods that would last for 7-9 days and even suffered from anemia because of it. I did not lose nor gain any weight with it... I will get another one for sure after baby number 2.

loestrin 24 made me gain 8 pounds in two weeks. it made my hunger uncontrollable, and my cramps have never been worse. It made me on my period for 9 days straight, and i bled through super tampons. I do not recommend it for anyone.

I have been experienced very "prolonged" periods with Mirena lasting 20 days or more per month.

I first got the mirena inserted in May 2007 and had no problems and loved it. I ceased to have a period for almost two years. Then, in February of 2009 I started to experience prolonged bleeding. I have no other symptoms just bleeding (using about 2 tampons a day when I am bleeding - 20 days out of the months).

I have found plenty of information on bleeding immediately after the mirena is inserted but come up empty trying to find anyone else with my experience.

My doctor says he sees this in about 10% of his patients with Mirena. Often times, he says it will correct itself, but many woman choose to have it removed.

i am 18 and i wanted to try the NV due to the fact that i tend to forget the pill some days, i thought this would be perfect. i have started the NV 3 weeks ago and since i have been on it i have been having headaches that will not go away, they are constantly there when i go to sleep and when i wake up again it just wont go away even if i take Tylenol. i have it out now for the week its supposed to be out and the headaches are worse when its out which is really concerning me. also something else i have always used tampons and never once had a problem putting them in or using them and this week i find then very uncomfortable and a little hard to put them it find that it hurts. has anyone had anything similar to this i would like to hear about it and if you suggest that i not continue to use it. Thank You very much! :)

I've been taking Balziva for over a year, and I don't know what the heck these people are talking about! I think that before taking the pill they had serious menstrual and emotional problems. Before birth control I had long, heavy and painfully crippling periods. I do not have that anymore. My periods last about 4-5 days which are not painful and moderate flow at best. Actually, until recently, they had been so light that I couldn't use tampons and a panty liner was sufficient. Maybe the last couple times have I been heavy enough for a tampon (perhaps because my body finally adjusted after the last few years of birth control.) I was a moody person before birth control so I'm definitely now blaming that on the pill. I still get extra angry/moody that week, but I did before the pill too. And the only time I spot between periods is when I miss a pill, which only lasts for a couple days.

The only side effect that I could say is caused by the drug is the loss of sex drive. But again, that may not necessarily be the pill. It could be my place in life. I'm a college student with an extremely busy schedule - full time school loaded with too much homework and I work as a flight instructor (tell me teaching some new by how to land is not stressful!!) Oh, and I lost the closest person to me two years ago which I still haven't accepted and basically closed my heart after that. I don't have trouble losing weight as long as I watch my diet and exercise. I don't really think that Balziva has caused any negative side effects, at least nothing that could be explained by something else in my life. I gain weight because I let myself go on break. I lose weight because I eat right and exercise after that.

Back in February, I experienced a similar bleeding. It started mid pack as well. I had gotten my period the last week of January (all normal). About a week or a week and a half later, I started bleeding again!!! I got worried, so I went to see my doctor and she said, "oh don't worry, it's normal, it's probably just your pills... keep taking them for a few months just to confirm it's the pills and if the same symptoms occur, then we'll switch you to a different brand..." Can you believe that??? If they're all ready causing me ANYTHING... take me off of them... don't wait til... "oh just keep taking them and if they kill you... then we'll know it was the pill..." Ridiculous! I already changed my doctor! Anyway, I bleeding for 2 weeks. Then I continued the pill. The next month, my period was what I can say "normal", but the following month, I didn't get my period at all practically. I just noticed some spotting, so I got a tampon in just in case.. for my whole 'period week', i just kept spotting on my tampons. As if it wasn't a real period. I don't know what's going on. And honestly... I don't believe these doctors anymore with their "the symptoms will only last 3 months... or it's nothing serious... it's normal..." bull crap!!!

I have been on Mirena for over a year and I'm still spot bleeding. In the last month and a half, I have not bled for only 8 days(2 four day period) - talk about birth control!!! Who wants to have sex if you're spot bleeding all the time!!! When I call my doctor she says hold on you might be a severe case but eventually the spotting will stop and it will be worth it. I do hold on b/c I have seen some benefits - I'm not as hormonal, I have less headaches and cramps, and I have less flow. I used to use ultra tampons and now use nothing more than regulars. However, the one negative is now out weighing the benefits and I have an appt. w/ my GYN to take it out.

I'm SOOO glad I stumbled upon this site. I am 32 and have never taken birth control. I talked to my gyno about getting on the pill and she recommended Loestrin. I started Loestrin the first day of my period. Typically they are 3-4 days max. I usually have really bad cramps the 1st day, sometimes the 2nd, but no pain after that.

I honestly thought I was going crazy bc the 3rd day I was on the pill, I woke up so extremely irritated that I got in a fight with my b-friend, yelled at the jewelry woman at Nordstrom, was yelling at people while driving, and basically acting like a crazy person. I am a high stress person, but never ever like this. I never behave this way, especially to sales associates. It was rather embarrassing, but I couldn't control it. I continued to feel this way for 2 days and now it has become slightly less. I am anxious and irritable and more sensitive (not usually very sensitive at all). I've had continuous bleeding (it's now been 7 days of tampons) and horrible cramping all the way down to my legs. It's really painful and uncomfortable. I thought something was wrong with me - thought about going to the emergency room last night it was so bad.

I will admit that I do love to eat, but I find myself constantly hungry. I eat and eat and eat and can't stop. My stomach is completely bloated. I haven't weighed myself, but feel disgusting.

I called my doctor this morning bc I'm so freaked out, but am waiting for a call back. Luckily I read these postings to find that I am not sick or crazy...it must be the pills.

Does anyone know what happens if you stop taking them suddenly after 1 week? How long does it take the body to get back to normal? Also, does anyone know if the bleeding stops immediately - my boyfriend is taking me on a trip this weekend and I'd really like to be "normal."

I have been on both Yasmin and the generic version for years and LOVE it! I had been on several different types of Ortho and had horrible acne and migraines so finding Yasmin was like a gift from heaven - no migraines, my skin was back to normal and my period was so light I bought tampons about once every three months.

I have had a lot going on in the last year and kept forgetting to take my pill each day so I decided to try the NuvaRing and the results have not been positive for me. I am calling my doctor today and asking her to switch me back.

For those of you who have switched from one pill to another, just remember that it can take three months for skin issues to clear up. When I switched to Yasmin from one of the Ortho pills, I initially had worse acne on the second month after changing but by the end of the third month everything had sorted itself out hormone-wise and my skin cleared up. Thank goodness my doctor and dermatologist forewarned me or I might not have stuck with it.

I was wondering.......it hurt like hell when it was inserted. For those of you that had it removed, "HOW BAD DOES THE REMOVAL HURT?" I am afraid to have it removed but know it is necessary.

I've called my doctor and am waiting on a reply from the nurse. I want my Mirena removed. I posted my symptoms on May 8th. I've had mine in for 4 1/2 months.

My symptoms are in order of severity:

*heavy bleeding 3 out of 4 weeks (pads or tampons with breakthrough bleeding and pantiliner 24/7)
*acne on my back, butt and jawline (going to Derm. and using ProActive)
*I've gained 15 lbs in the past 4 months and it won't come off
*headaches
*a sore spot in my spine (I was fearful I had cancer)
*facial hair
*bloating (I look 4 months pregnant 1/2 of the time)
*low libido
*irritable and moody more than usual
*sore breasts

I posted last week about my side effects of Mirena. I had it removed Tuesday and it is now Saturday. I don't care what anyone says, it is so much better since having it removed. My doctor said some of the symptoms I was having might be due to something else. She said if I gained weight on this then going back to the NuvaRing would do the same thing. It did actually occur to me that when I was off birth control entirely I did lose weight more easily and felt better, but even with NuvaRing I didn't feel like I did with Mirena. My weight hasn't always been stable but my stomach felt so much more bloated with the Mirena. With how awful I felt I had almost wondered if I could have been pregnant, as I read someone else thought as well. I spoke to the doctor first not completely set on removing it, but that it was very likely. She tried telling me the headaches might be from something else and the only thing that she could really attribute directly to Mirena was the cramping. She said she couldn't guarantee the cramping or bleeding would ever go away if I was still having it. So less than a week having it removed and I feel wonderful. WONDERFUL! So even if the hormones weren't a direct reason for the weight gain the pain - everyday - the feeling like you were PMSing the worst you've ever PMSed, every single day and everyday thinking it might get better and it doesn't and not wanting to move is enough to make you gain weight...the fact that in five minutes that was all relieved, that very day feeling so much better, is enough reason to get it out. ONE day of no tampons, no pads, no cramps, no headaches. I started getting a cold before getting it out and someone said, "Oh yeah and that awful headache..." No, no headaches. I don't get headaches unless it's for a damn good reason (as I mentioned before, wisdom teeth removal), but almost every day I was getting them. I ride quads and after riding and sometimes during I was getting cramps, after being on a trampoline I would cramp and be bleeding. I would have irritation, discharge. That alone is enough to make someone feel awful. Every day feeling gross and in pain, even if the hormones didn't give someone mood swings the feeling awful would make one moody. However, I fully believe that the hormones effect mood. When I decide to go back on birth control I'm going back to NuvaRing. I always liked it, I just though Mirena was a better option. I have the prescription but I've decided to take a natural approach for right now and am abstaining from intercourse right now. If I choose to have sex I will use condoms. I don't know if it's the hormones or just not feeling gross but I've already had a greater desire for sexual activities. The day I had it removed I spotted right afterwards and the rest of the day was fine. The next day nothing, I mean nothing. The day after it seemed like I got my period heavily but it was the closest thing to a period I've had since getting Mirena, not discharge, spotting, and huge clumps. Since then, nothing. You don't even realize all the little things that add up until afterwards. I drink a lot of water and thus have to urinate a little more often than some. I can't stand pads and would use the very light tampons. Well, I'd either have to end up ripping out a dry tampon if I wasn't spotting much and had to pee, trying to hold it longer, or using liners that bothered me. It's one thing to have to wear them sometimes but every single day. You never want to have sex if it's always, "Wait, I have to go take out this tampon or remove this pad." I'm eating less and less tired. I want to actually do things again that involve something other than sitting. I've found it helpful that I've got a cold right now and can barely breathe out my nost, thus making getting intimate difficult and less appealing because it's probably helping me abstain at the moment. If anyone is considering getting it out, if someone tells you it's in your head, trust your gut. Nobody knows your body, or your mental state, better than you. I am not kidding, less than a week and I feel 500% better even in spite of my Rudolph nose and tissue trail. Once I'm rid of this cold I can't even wait to get out and start enjoying activities like I used to. I had a bunch of things going on while on it that I'm starting to wonder if it had anything to do with it. I couldn't wear contacts because my eyes were irritated and got even worse headaches than I already had and I've already worn them this week no problems. That may be something else entirely, but whatever it was seems to be fine now; hair growing faster (noticed facial hair that was pointed out to me by more than one person as well as body hair growing rapidly; breaking out; mood swings - more like swings that went from bad attitude to worse attitude to just plain angry at the world. I could keep going but I'd rather go enjoy this nice weather and get out now. Please, trust your self and your body. As much as I liked the concept of Mirena, I couldn't stand the effect on my body. Get it removed and if you're considering getting it - don't.

Mirena...WOW who would have known, that trying to prevent pregnancy would hurt so bad. I have had Mirena for 2 years now after the birth of my second child. Started out okay, within 3 months, I would only spot during my cycle, and before long no spotting. I thought it was great. Then I noticed myself becoming tired, no energy, just thought i needed more sleep. It didn't matter if i slept 12 hours I was still tired throughout the day. Then I noticed my patience going out the window. Every little thing irritated me, I would get so upset over nothing. Before long I was yelling at my kids, getting mad at them like I would an adult over something. Everything would be okay one minute and the next minute I would want to rip someone's head off. There's been a couple of times after an episode where i'm sitting there thinking what the hell is happening to me. This isn't me.

Then I got online to start doing some research and low and behold I find websites that are covered up with comments just like mine. My husband had just about been at the end of his rope with me just thinking I was being a b**** for no reason. Now that he has seen everyone elses reviews he believes that this thing has something to do with it. I have been depressed, I have basically lost all weight from my second birth except for my stomach. I look like I am 3 - 4 months pregnant and it will not go down.
I've been to the doctor's office asking what's going on and having test run and it all comes back normal. Nurses see my stomach and look at me saying "are you sure your not pregnant, because that's not because you are fat".

I am finally taking the plung and having this removed. The only thing I will miss about this thing is not having a period at all and no cramping. My kids and my life is more important to me than having to go buy tampons and deal with a monthly period. I've done it before and survived, and I'm so ready to have my mind back. Your gut lets you know when your not yourself and mine has been telling me for a while that I'm not myself. If you have been ingnoring your gut feeling start acknowledging it, it's trying to tell you something.

Will post later and let you all know step by step what happened after having it removed and whether or not my stomach went down and if I have a better mood about life.

Just wondering....has anyone started a civil suit towards Mirena? There's enough testimonies here that someone needs to listen.

I'm a 26 year old female that has had the lovely experience of taking Lupron twice in my life. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 19 after having a lap. I had been suffering from excruciating back pain for months. The lap only helped for 3 months and then the pain returned. My doctor recommended Lupron for 4 months and so I jumped at the chance to feel better. I actually did ok with the shots. I experienced the hot flashes, fatigue and crazy mood swings but I was willing to try anything to feel better. After the 4 months, my life returned to normal and I had 5 good years of pain free life with normal periods. My body on the other hand did not react well to birth control so I couldn't use it. For the last 2 yrs, my husband and I having been trying to conceive with no luck. 1 yr ago my periods took a wild turn. I began bleeding so heavily that I was bleeding thru my tampons every 5 min and began passing clots the size of a half dollar. These episodes would last for bout 3 hrs. This continued for 3 months and so my doctor recommended Lupron again. I was cautious about taking it again, but I was desperate. This time around I suffered from weight loss, nausea, severe bilat hip pain (due to low bone density), and receding gums along with all the usual Lupron side effects. My dentist said my gums and teeth looked like I was 60 or 70. FYI, I have never even had a cavity!!! I'm now 3 months post Lupron. I still haven't started my period again but my symptoms have subsided. Its just a waiting game now. I hope to get pregnant soon but I will probably go on fertility drugs very soon. All I can say about this drug is that it worked for me the first time and I hope it did the second time. It definitely was not easy and I don't recommend anyone going into it lightly. Good luck to anyone who is thinking about it and I feel blessed to have gotten out of it with a lot less problems than other men and women

I had the Mirena but in 01/13/08 and taken out 02/04/09 I thought it would be a good ideal since I had a 14mo old son and didn't want any pop ups. Well I don't have it any more. I experience cramping from the time it was put in. Consistent bleeding. No spotting just bleeding.Tissue from my body was coming out on my tampons. I kept a headache and my hair was thinning. And I gained 20lbs. I lost my boyfriend over the moods. One day I had to leave work to go to the ER for chest pain and the doctor told me to have it removed. After all the problems I was cool with taking it out. But when I went to the gyno to have it removed it wasn't that easy. I had to have a D&C and put under to have it removed. Once it was out I seen a difference. I'm losing weight, haven't had a headache and my boyfriend are back together. I cant tell a big difference in my mood now that I don't have it.

I have had Mirena for five months now since Oct. 2008. I seriously thought I was making the best decision after begin told by my doctor that I could not get my tubes tied because I did not inform her before my six week check-up. And she totally talked me into getting mirena. I waited a week to read up on mirena on the official website and i heard nothing but good reviews.Since I had mirena inserted I have had some periodic cramping which did not seem so bad. Yester was the first day i experienced my period since mirena. To my surprise I had no sanitary napkins (pads) available I only had tampons. I was afraid and a little reluctant to use the tampons b/cause I was not sure if it was safe to do so with the IUD in plac, so i decided to research it on the website I google for mirena side effects and my results wer the official website along with tons of others. I decided to check the official site b/cause I thought that they would best be able to answer my question an address my concern about the tampons. Well the did answer my question and said that there was no risk and it was safe to use iI just needed to pay close attention as to how I removed it so as to not remove the device instead. Well anyway I used the tampon and when dear hubby returned from work I rushed to the store to get some sanitary napkins (Pads) b/cause I was still a little scared with the tampons. That whole evening the situation pondered me and I started to think about all the other sites that i came across but never pulled them up and thought that maybe I should b/cause one sub heading caught mu attention which said" I finally got Mirena removed Yeaaa!!!". Anyway this morning I got up and started my research I was shocked by the things I was reading about the side effects which were all things that I was experiencing but had no idea and no clue that the mirena was the cause . Here goes, I experienced the cramping, very uncomfortable at times. Oh my God the extreme hair loss, which i was told that due to increased hormones during pregnancy it happens shortly after giving birth when the hormones are leaving the body and decreasing. Bull shit I am almost six months postpartum hormones are all gone and still i have excessive hair loss. The tiredness and depression I thought was due to me being at home all day. I never have the strength to do simple chores around the house even when I take vitamins. I am always sleepy and sleeping. And the weight gain I thought It was shame on me I had gained over 30lbs since my six week check up. I am always hungry can never seem to stick to a diet or exercise regimine. Pre pregnancy with my last child which I have three I weighed 125 lbs and have always been a fitness fanatic with six pack abs!!! Now I have a barrel so to speak. Which I did not have after giving birth until i started the weight gain that I thought was due to being at home and being stressed with so much going on in my life within the last two years. little did I know MIRENA made me FATTT!!!!!!. I have also had problems with back and chest pain and also total body pain. I have stairs in my recent new home which it literally hurts me to go up and down the stairs b/cause my whole body is in pain I just thought I was fat and out of Shape but I constantly walked pre and post pregnancy so no it's not me its MIRENA!!!. I have also experienced very bad blurry vision. Hell! I thought i was going blind! I could never focus my eyes and they are always cloudy and blurry.I also experience a very annoying ringing sound in my ear like a radio which sometimes last very long. I am so happy to have found this site and realize that nothing is wrong with me it is MIRENA that is the problem and I am going to waste no time to fix it my plan was to have mirena for at least two years then get my tubes removed b/cause I do not want any more kids but I am not waiting any longer I am going to make an appointment to have it removed ASAP!!!! I need my life , my energy, appearance and my happiness back so long MIRENA. I wil;l not miss you one bit I will let you all know how it turns out fell free to comment and ask questions. I think I experienced it all and poor me I did not know. Thank you all so much for this site and information. Oh! my husband will be happy to know that his sexy little house wife did not just happen to deteriorate for no reason!!!!!! he will be reading this site.

so i have only been on the nuvaring for 2 months and i am taking myself off of it. i have been an emotional basket case. i have had cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation at times, headaches.. oh geeze unctrollable headaches. my boyfriend started freakin out thinking i was pregnant. i kept telling him no way!! i have been exhausted and can cry on the drop of a dime. I have been so emotional i cant even seem to make up my mind on ANYTHING! so i have been off for 2 days now, had an extremely LIGHT period, 3 days and only 2 tampons a day.... and i still have all the other symptoms. hopefully im NOT knocked up.. i seriously doubt it.. but i cant wait for the NR to get out of my system so i can go back to being NORMAL!! i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. and not to mention, just found out.. the reason i got on the NR is because a good friend of mine swore by it. said ti was the best thing next to peanut butter.. guess what.... she just found out sh is 6 months preggo and didn't even know it!!!! UGH!!!

You know when you have an "a-ha" moment? well I appear to have had one tonight not quite sure why. Had a mirena put in April 2008 due to very heavy periods (changing super plus tampons every 40 minutes for 3 days straight) told that Mirena would be the solution for me. well it did help with the bleeding but have just realized in going through these postings that my increased feelings of depression (have been on Wellbutrin for the last 12 months) feeling like I am sliding into a deep hole, increased weight that despite running aprox 8 hours a week I can not lose a pound, constantly feeling bloated a 300% increase in my migraines leading to a need for prescription migraine meds, and a constant uncomfortable feeling in my perineal area - all seemed to come together to point to one thing tonight. Mirena. I am calling my OB to make an appointment for removal asap. I will take the bleeding over the migraines, depression, weight gain, body image issues, downward spiral any day. Thank you to each and everyone of you for taking the time to contribute to this site. While I recognize that this has been very positive for many individuals, clearly it is not for everyone and that would include me. Wishing all of you that have had a negative experience full return to "normal" and better physical and mental health.
