I've finally had the mirena removed - about 2 months ago. I'd had a very light period around the time that it was removed, but none since. My body aches a little, still, but it's more tolerable that it had been before. Initially i could NOT stop urinating! i lost easily 3 lbs of nothing but water weight in the first couple of weeks. As excited as i was about that, it's a bit at a standstill now, losing the weight, but overall, my tolerance has grown, my sex drive has returned and mood swings have drastically been more controllable. I enjoy playing with my daughters again, and i've been able to get a lot more around the house cleaned. I feel about 70% better now and i'll take that any day over what i had been feeling. I do still get melancholy every now and then but not as severely.
in the past 2 week i've started taking vitamins - w/ a little extra b12 and calcium w/ D - to try and help my body balance out. that definitely makes a difference in how i feel through the day.
1 thing i can't get over is the constant thirsty feeling and almost a copper taste that lingers in my mouth, but i can only assume that after retaining water my body is re-adjusting to the intake/release ratio. good thing i like water and tea :) over all - i love having the mirena! ----- REMOVED!

Thank you all for sharing your experiences of the side affects of Advair. I am 46 years-old and have been on Advair for almost 2 years. I've experienced hair loss, joint stiffness. I find myself taking Tylenol for body and back pains every night, and Bayer aspirin in the mornings. My feet are so sore. I've also had decrease in libido.. at first I thought I was going through menopause. I did not have all these problems before Advair. Look what most of us had to sacrifice just to be able to take in deep breaths without feeling like someone is standing on our chest. I will search for other alternatives. My grandmother used to make tea from lobelia leaves to help my uncle who suffered with asthma.
The drug industry is a business. Once we start taking any pharmaceutical drugs... we open ourselves to other health problems due to the side affects of those drugs.

Took 1 dose. Within hours, I awoke with a very dry mouth and severe heartburn. Went to the kitchen for water and nearly passed out. Nausea, so I made it to the bathroom. Cold sweats, then chills. Felt like I had the flu. Every time I stood up, I nearly passed out and kept having same symptoms most of the night. Next day, at work, I had to be taken to the nurse, who figured out that my already low blood pressure was dropping dramatically when I stood up (as well as my pulse rate increasing). I threw up all over the doctor's bathroom. Still feel awful 3 days later. Dr. pretty much indicated that blood pressure drop couldn't have been from the Crestor, although my father has had same thing happen with EVERY statin they've put him on. Now, my leg aches and my urine is dark

I am a 51 year old male. November 2007 jaw pain sent me to the hospital where they found a 99% block in my right coronary artery, yep 4 stent's. Three month late the same this time 2 stent's and two weeks later 2 more. I now have 8 stent's. My DR. put me on several meds including Zocor. The zocor made me very tired and headaches. He change it to Lipitor 10mg. I have been on it for 7 months and a few day's ago I have notice pain in both knee's and hip. I once again find it hard to concentrate, feel sluggish and have headache's. I NEVER have headache's. Stopped taken the Lipitor, hope the pain goes away. It a shame that the medical field is so quick to put us ALL on drug's, how about herb's instead. I'm going to look into a natural way to lower my cholesterol.

I started prednisone last week because of an allergic reaction I had to I dunno what (yet). I started with a solumedrol shot, followed 12 hrs later by a kenalog shot, followed 12 hrs after that by oral prednisone q 24 hrs. The 'fog' is fucking horrible; I can't think straight. I'm at the end of a medic class and have finals this weekend - and I'm scared that I'll be in the middle of a fog during the exams and will fail miserably.
It's unlike anything else I've experienced. It's not a drunk or stoned feeling, it's literally like I've lost cognitive ability and cannot process information. For instance: I wanted to make some tea and forgot how to turn on the kettle.
Does anyone else experience wild mood swings? I'm not normally a tearful person, but the past few days have seen me crying uncontrollably for no reason whatsoever - and this morning, I started laughing whilst I was crying and just couldn't stop. My family think I'm losing my mind, and were I not taking prednisone, monteluklast and fexofenadine I'd agree with them. As it is, I feel somewhat reassured that it's the medications that are causing these symptoms, but holy cats, is it ever weird to feel this way.
I feel so bad for you folks who are faced with the prospect of long-term cortico-steroid therapy. If any of you would like to talk, please contact me at ****** .
Good luck, y'all!

I am going on day 4 of stopping my Effexor cold turkey. I was on 300 mg and taking 20 mg of Pexeva. I am stopping cold turkey after being on this medication for three years. The withdrawals are terrible, I don't know why any doctor in their right mind would ever prescribe this medication for anyone. I have those wonderful brain zaps every ten seconds, the only thing that momentarily makes me sane is food, as if the 30 pounds this medication has gained me aren't enough, stopping it is going to pack on another 30. I am a bundle of anger and rage directed at anyone within distance. I am at the toilet every night waiting and praying that I can just throw up. When I finally can fall asleep I am jolted awake in a puddle of sweat having just had yet another nightmare. And when I say nightmare, I mean the kind that have me screaming out loud in terror waking my husband. Minor daily tasks are ignored due to the fact that putting one foot in front of the other is too much to handle. I can't stand this feeling and only pray for the day that it will stop.

I was prescribed to take 30mg/day (Prednisone) to try to reduce the inflammation brought upon by Ulcerative Colitis. I have taken Prednisone before....up to 60mg/day, when I was first diagnosed with UC. I don't really remember all of the side effects I experienced, but I do remember my calves and feet swelling, a bit a of moon face and very little weight gain due to the UC. Does anyone have any suggestions to how/and when I should take the daily dose of Prednisone (early morning, with food...what kind of food)? Also, I would love to hear from anyone with Ulcerative Colitis and how they are coping with the disease. From their diet when in remission to during a flare-up! Thanks...

On October 5th 2007 I experienced auditory hallucinations but their different than the others. I hear my thoughts directly outside of my head and they repeat the thought continuously until another thought happens. Sometimes their are thoughts that I have previously thought of and they won't go away. It starts from the moment I wake up in the morning until I go to sleep in the evening. Sometimes they sing like a choir and sometimes they talk my thoughts. Children's, women, men, and one old man. Sometimes it's a mechanical voice. I started taking Lamicatal in August. I started with 25 mg. for two weeks. Then I increased it to 50mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 75 mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 100mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 125mg and I took this for one week and that's when these auditory hallucinations got worse. Now I only take 50mg and the auditory hallucinations will not go away yet. Before I started taking Lamictal I was on Cymbalta 20mg. I needed to stop taking this medication as that it caused abdominal pains, severe headaches, nausea, I started hearing other peoples thoughts and conversations. I was only Cymbalta for one year. I never was able to hear peoples thoughts before taking Cymbalta and I never heard hallucinations before taking Lamictal. Years ago I was taking Paxil 20mg and this medication increased the abstract visual dreaming and the zoning out. The reason I started taking Lamicatal was that in the evening while I was sleeping I would sometimes get startled in the middle of the night with abstract visual dreaming and it hurt my head. Also I was zoning out occasionally during the day. Kind of like daydreaming but no visual dreams. Lamicatal did stop this but this side effect is driving me insane.

Been on welbutrin (bupropion) 150mg sr for 4 years. I quit smoking after about 6 months the taste of cigs were nasty. I lost 30 pounds but also started my workout at curves. I have had neck pain for about a year now and I am wondering if this is a side effect of the welbutrin. Went to a specialist at a university orthopedic and nothing is wrong with my neck but the muscles in the back of my neck hurt constantly. Also has anyone ever tried the super dieters tea while on welbutrin. Overall I have had no side effects with welbutrin everyone is different though.

Weight gain, sluggishness, memory fogs. I've been on Toprol for nearly 3 years and my 2 biggest areas of concern are my weight and memory. I've gained 25 pounds in 3 years (never had a weight issue before and I'm 40) and CANNOT lose it. I've been on a very restricted diet for the past 4 weeks while also power walking 30 min/5 days a week with NO WEIGHT CHANGE! That is what prompted me to look into possible effects of Toprol. During the past 3 years I've also noticed a problem with my short term memory which I naturally contributed to my depression. Well, the good news is that with my diet and constant exercise, my blood pressure has dropped to 118/78 and I am seeing my doctor and presenting many of the forum entries to her this week. I am going to have her change my meds and hopefully be able to come off completely. I'm currently on Toprol XL 50mg.
I will update on changes!

Yes, the Clonazepam stops the panic, but it is NOT good for the general anxiety...it basically just knocks me out (very tired, weak, sick feeling). I am now hiking with my dog every day to burn it off by suggestion of my doctor. As I start walking I feel so weak sometimes I am afraid I will not make it back to the house, HOWEVER as I continue to walk the feeling eventually goes away (I carry my cell phone for security..although I really know I will not need to use it)! The more I walk, the better I feel! I have also found that no matter how deathly sick I feel, if I can just GET OUT OF BED, the feelings eventually go away throughout the day. I avoid all negative influences (movies, news, negative people) and spend a lot of time at church working on building my faith...it has helped me survive all this.
I am now on day 9 of my cycle and my recent "spell" seems to be over. I am 28 years old and this was my first experience with BCP. I never had ANY health problems before. Good news is, my test results have all come back.... my pap smear, blood work, and urine work all came back NORMAL. (I had a year of abnormal pap tests also. I had a yeast infection about every week!) It took a YEAR to get everything to come back clear again. I am not taking any medication regularly at this time.
The Vitamin B Complex does make me a little jumpy, but I have found I can work it off through some kind of cardiovascular exercise. In general I am feeling MUCH better. Just start out slowly every day, eat healthy food (no caffeine/alcohol, I carry apples, celery, and peanut butter with me everywhere), and KEEP MOVING. I also have some Valerian capsules and tea. "Celestial Seasonings" makes a tea called "Sleepytime" which has Valerian in it....seems to work pretty well.
All in all, my faith, my fellow women on this site, and a supportive husband has helped me through this disaster. It will only make you stronger in the end. God bless Medications.com for having this site! I feel it saved my life. I am praying for all of you...HANG IN THERE.

I HAVE BEEN ON METADONE FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS NOW AND I AM UP 150 MGS A DAY, I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND THE PAIN IS JUST TERRIBLE MOST OF THE TIME, WHEN I FIRST WENT ON THIS DRUG I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS THE PERFECT DRUG, IT TOOK ALL OF MY PAIN AWAY, IT WAS SOMEWHAT CHEAP, AND MY DOCTOR WOULD GIVE ME ENOUGH OF IT TO TAKE CARE OF MY PAIN. HOWEVER ...I WAS ALWAYS A SMALL WOMAN THE MOST THAT I EVER WEIGHED WAS 150 PONDS AND THAT WAS WHEN I WAS 9 MONTHS PREGNANT WITH MY CHILDREN, I USED TO HAVE TO MAKE MYSELF EAT TO TRY AND GAIN WEIGHT..AFTER BEING ON METHDONE FOR ABOUT A MONTH I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT I HAD INTENSE CRAVINGS FOR SWEETS THAT I COULD NOT DENY...IT WAS LIKE NEEDING A HIT OF HERION OR SOMETHING.. NOW THAT LITTLE GIRL THAT USED TO HAVE TO TRY TO GAIN WEIGHT AND WHOS NORMAL WEIGHT WAS 115 POUNDS IS UP TO 162 POUNDS AFTER JUST 7 MONTHS ON THIS DRUG, I AM ONLY EATING ONE MEAL A DAY AND JUST HAVING A FEW BITES OF SOMETHING AT BREAKFAST..THE MORE I TRY TO DIET THE MORE WEIGHT I GAIN...SOMEONE HELP!! IS THERE ANY THING AT ALL THAT I CAN DO .. I CAN SOMEWHAT DEAL WITH THE CONSTIPATION THAT IS NEVER GOING AWAY AND I CAN DEAL WITH THE SWEATS THAT ARE HORRIBLE - I CAN EVEN DEAL WITH THE SLEEPINESS AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES BUT I CAN NOT DEAL WITH ALL OF THIS FAT..THIS IS MAKING ME EVEN MORE DEPRESSED AND SUICIDIAL THAN I EVER WAS BEFORE METHADONE....I REALLY AM THINKING ABOUT TRYING ANOTHER DRUG BUT THEY ALL JUST COST SO MUCH.....ANY ADVICE FOR ME ABOUT THE WEIGHT GAIN???

I just took one because my doc said that i have a virus that is going around. I wasted my money because i am not going to take again. I would rather drink some tea or do a steam treatment to relieve congestion than deal with the side affects. I have only had one and i am very nervous, It is almost 3:30 a.m. right now and I cant sleep, that is why i am writing this, i cant sleep. I feel like getting mad at my doc or someone but that wouldnt help anything. I just hope this crap leaves my body FAST!!! Feels like poison in my body. Should have asked the doc for a homeopathic alternative. My bad.

Joodles here with a 5 month OFF Yasmin update:
Like a lot of you I had the following symptoms while ON Yasmin:
Heart Palpatations
Pain/cramps in my knees/legs
Terrible itching skin rash
Dizziness
High blood pressure
Anxiety
Now that I am OFF Yasmin the following has happened:
BAD things:
A period every 14-18 days
Hair is thinning
Gained 10 pounds (lost 6 since June)
Acne!
Breast tnderness close to period
GOOD THINGS!
No cramps
Dizziness is gone
Skin itching is gone
Pain/cramps are gone
Heart palpatations have stopped
Blood pressure has returned to the normal range
Not as anxious/paranoid
So Ladies, as you can see, the GOOD things WILL happen over time!
I did have awful withdrawel symptoms the first 8 weeks of stopping Yasmin. I was VERY nervous and felt very uneasy. I found a tea at my local Jewel store, it is called Tension Tamer Tea, and it did wonders getting me through those very tense times. I am a big believer of herbal remedies and I have found Black Cohosh (20mg in the morning, 20mg before bed) to be very helpful to me.
If only our GYN's and Family Doctors know what torture we have all gone through because of this pill.
Ladies, hang in there, it WILL get better! I AM feeling a lot better and you will too! PLEASE give yourself time.
I wish you all love and a blessed Thanksgiving.

re posting 8168
When I wrote that my brother (age 56) is no longer wearing leg braces it is only because he chose too.
These braces were uncomfortable so the only improvement (which is something) is that after 2 months off Lipitor, he can lift the left leg a little instead of dragging it.
We have noticed this improvement after 1 month off the Lipitor.
We have researched the type of food that will bring down cholesterol and the foods I have listed on posting "8168" I believe did it.
The first item I have reason to believe that helps is the tea 5-6 cups PLUS of tea a day. In his case he drank your regular type of tea.

My brother was on Lipitor for a few years. He ended up wearing a brace in each leg and using a walker.
He could not lift the left leg.
He has been off Lipitor now for 2 months.
He no longer wear the braces and he is now able to lift the left leg a little.
He has changed his diet to include
Walnuts, almonds, tea, spinach, chick peas, olive oil, lentils soup etc.
He just had blood tests done and his cholesterol is now NORMAL.
No one needs this statin drugs. This is a KILLER drug ! !!

Personnaly, I think this is an extremely dangerous drug.
Why not try to bring down your cholesterol with exercise and eating healthy food such as walnuts, strawberries, spinach, tea etc.

I did not like the effects of the steriods that were prescribed to me for my asthma so I looked for a more natural way to ease my breathing difficulty. RespirActin is a liquid herbal treatment for when I am having difficulty and RespirActin Tea is what I consume a couple of times a week to maintain repiratory health. Ask your local health food store for what they would recommend. Getting rid of my two cats was not an option. It has been a year and I have not returned to the doctors for any reason.

I have been on Advair for 7 months. I started on 500, then went to 250 and now am trying 100. I have gained 30 lbs - even with going to the gym regularly and eating less than 1500 calories a day. When I tell my dtr I am gaining weight from Advair he laughs and tells me to eat less. And that any other symptoms I have are not from this medicine. I had also found a lump in my calf by my ankle and had to have an MRI. They said it is a 'limpoma', a lump attributable to steriods. So now I have to have that cut out and will not be able to run for quite some time, which means more weight gain. I don't know what to do. Since I have started taking it, I have never been able to breathe better. And I have had severe ashtma for years. When I try to wean myself off, I immediately have a bad attack. I want to stop taking it, but don't know how to get off. Even switching to the lower dosage this week has made me lethargic, dizzy and barely able to keep awake. What a nightmare. My body is so bloated and heavy, I can't fit into any clothes. And I can barely run more than 2 miles without my chest burning. This is from someone who has run a marathon before no problem. We need a new solution for asthma - Advair is NOT it.

Started on a 2 week program due to severe asthma, beginning with 60 mg for 4 days, now I am down to 40 for 4 days, then 20 for 4 days. I'm so glad when I'm done with it, can't sleep at all, but the house is clean, Have incredible headaches, have not gained weight, but have a moonface coming on. I am not very hungry, just indredibly thirsty, drink ice tea and water by the gallons.
Although it has relieved my asthma considerably, I would hesitate to go on it again. I hate it, it's just not a good feeling inside, all nervous and weird, I feel like I am buzzing and sometimes think people can hear that. I can't believe they would put a child on this powerful drug, unless absolutely lifesaving necessary.
Hang in there, everybody. I feel for the ones of you having to be on it for a long time.

Loss of appetite and change in taste. I haven't eaten a meal since about 26th March 2009. I have a sweet, sickly taste and I can only eat cornflakes or crisps. Cups of tea don't taste like tea and I try and taste different foods each day but still can't eat anything other than cornflakes and crisps.
They have ruined my life and I have been told it could take 12/18 months so I have another 12 months to go. I don't think I can do it!!.
I would love to hear from people who have had this problem.
