Man, I feel like I've had every side effect in the book. I've been *on* Zoloft for 10 days now. I hear the side effects are supposed to subside after about 2 weeks, but I'm getting impatient. I've had nausea, indigestion, dizziness, severe tension headaches, bizarre dreams, restlessness (in general, and in particular, in my hands), numbness/tingling in my hands and feet, a 'lump in my throat' feeling, trouble sleeping, decrease in appetite, and a general disconnectedness from reality. It may be helping the immediate issues with my anxiety, but I am plenty anxious now about all these new symptoms. It's scary! My gut tells me this is a sign that perhaps Zoloft is not the right drug for me... but I thought it was supposed to be one of the gentler drugs in this category.

I got Mirena Jan. 2008. Since then I get migraines, tension headaches, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, mood swings, bloating (no weight gain), increased heart rate, no sex drive at all (I'm only 21!),and my partner can feel the strings poking him. I finally reached my breaking point with Mirena when I developed lower abdominal pain and a slight discharge. Mirena has infected my uterus and ovaries. This damn thing is coming out ASAP!!!

I have been using NuvaRing since Aug. 4th and i have had very, very bad cramping and stomach pains that take my breath away. I have been experiencing discharge and just constantly tired. And my cramps hurt even worse when i have to go to the restroom. I cannot hold it for more than about five minutes because i really start to hurt. My sex drive has really changed. I went from wanting it everyday to "No lets wait til the weekend " but then i'm too tired. I have been so thirsty, it just seems like my mouth stays dry. I have even been getting tension headaches and that mouth watering nausea feeling. After two miscarriages I was really hoping to have found something that will work for me, but i don't think i can take this anymore.

I was on Yasmin since 2001. I LOVED it, it was great for me. At the end of 2006, I read about Yaz and asked my doc to switch me and so he did. I developed hives and cystic acne all over my face and back. It was terrible, and I thought it would get better but it got worse. So after 3 months of Yaz i went back to Yasmin. I currently have no health insurance and have been paying out of pocket for it. EXPENSIVE! but worth it. I never had any negative side effects while on Yasmin. It actually was beneficial for me, cleared up my skin, no more ovarian cysts, lighter periods and little cramping. For me Yasmin works great. Until I had to stop taking it 2 weeks ago, everything was rosy. I moved from NYC to Upstate NY, 300 miles away, and transferred my prescription for Yasmin. When it ran out last month, I called my doctor in the city to request a refill and he declined without me going to visit him for an exam since it has been over a year, which is ethical but BAD for me, because it's not convenient or cost effective for me to get to my doc 300 miles from here. So I went to Planned Parenthood and they refused to prescribe Yasmin for me because I checked the box in the health history that asked if I have ever had a history of headaches. I have gotten tension headaches for years but none in the last few years and they told me that because I checked the box they can;t prescribe anything with estrogen in it to me. I was so mad, I walked out without my exam. I called my doc in NYC and am taking the train down for an appointment this week. Unfortunately, I have to spend a month off Yasmin. I have been on one pill or another since 1993, so I know what works for me by now, and Yasmin has been a GODSEND. I am currently a disaster. I have developed severe cramping and bloating in my abdomen, which is normally flat as a pancake thanks to working out a ton, I am ravenous and want to eat EVERYTHING, I am moody and have developed a few large painful acne cysts on my face, and so far it's only been 2 weeks off, 3 if you count the placebo pill week. I want to kill someone. I am totally miserable. My mood was level all the time on Yasmin and I never had acne and my ovarian cysts had ceased. Did I mention that I am miserable? I am experiencing extreme fatigue as well. I am actually considering going to the county clinic tomorrow just because I can't take it anymore. I'd sooner take the morning after pill (which Planned Parenthood gave to me to take before they gave me a script for some stupid progestin-only pill) to trigger my period, which I think I am going to do, and order a month of Yasmin through an online Mexican pharmacy, just to get this nightmare to cease. I'm going to go do just that right now. I can;t take it anymore.

I started Femcon Fe a week and a half ago for irregular periods. I am halfway through the second row and I am DONE. I have tension headaches, insomnia, nausea that wakes me in my sleep, I feel lazy and tired. The worst part is that is making me itch all over my body. I had cholestasis of pregnancy TWICE, and I am experiencing the same symptoms. I also felt these symptoms with Ortho Tricyclen and NuvaRing. I guess I'll just have to deal with the irregular periods.

I have had the worst case of severe tension headaches, I would classify them as migraines due to the sensitivity to light and feeling of such disorientation and nausea, followed by loss of appetite. So when I finally eat my stomach goes into shock and I have severe "stomach issues" to put it lightly. No matter what I do I cant shake this feeling of fatigued headaches and Nausea. I am tired of feeling like I am on this emotional rollercoaster. I always feel like I am drugged up and its an awful feeling. The ring is out and I will never go back to using it! I realize each person reacts differently to certain birth controls but I did my research prior to starting the NuvaRing and 8 out of 10 testimonials that I read said Severe headaches, nausea, stomach and bowel problems followed by depression. I would not recommend this to any of my girlfriends. Good luck I hope I can help some woman out there from my experience.

Hi!
I have been on Yasmin for severe hormonal imbalance because I have had very bad breakouts on my skin, very cystic acne so I was at a point where I was extremely embarresed. I got it under control but I was still breaking out and my face is of more value if you guys know what I mean.....but really what I want to say is that I feel like a snapper fish cause I'm cranky since Ive been taking Yazmin but if it is helping my skin I will have to learn to bite my tongue for a little while, but I have been getting these tension headaches too that is very irritating I am going to monitor it for awhile and then maybe have to discontinue and see if a herbal alternative might help

I began using the Nuva Ring four years ago after deciding I was too irresponsible to remember to take The Pill every day. 3 years ago, I started began getting the worst headaches I have ever had in my life, and my sex drive became non-existent. At the time, I decided it was stress-related. I had started school full-time, after taking three years off. In addition to the above side effects I was also slightly emotional and depressed. This continued for three years before I started to notice more changes.
Last December, I realized I had gained 15 lbs. Someone told me they saw it happen over a period of three months. I didn't really notice because I never weigh myself, I have been consistently the same weight for the past 10 years. When my clothes started getting really tight I got on the scale and was shocked. In February, my breasts started swelling to the point that I could not even hug someone without falling over in pain. In addition to this, I was experiencing breakthrough bleeding, which I have never had before. And once again, my sex drive hit the floor.
At the time, I figured it was because I had an impacted wisdom tooth pulled. It started with a tooth infection and then I had it removed, so I was on anti-biotics and pain killers for about 3 weeks. Combined with lack of good nutrition (I could only eat soup and milkshakes), I figured my body was having a hard time adjusting to the change in diet and the sudden surge of medication.
However, this continued the following month, and the one after that, and the one after that...... then I noticed that the breast swelling started about 5-7 days after inserting the Nuva Ring. Followed by that was the breakthrough bleeding. Coincidence? I think not. I then started thinking that maybe all the years of migraines may very well be related to the Nuva Ring.
I decided I was going to consider getting off birth control. I paid a visit to my GYN, and told her about my symptoms. What was her response? "Well, that is so strange, for this to happen 4 years later!" Really? I could have guessed that myself, don't you think? So what was her answer? "You might want to try a different birth control. Have you thought about the patch?" Actually, I'd rather be free of all of this stuff. So I guess what really pissed me off, was that she had no solid answer for me, and just wanted to throw me on something else. Thanks, Doc.
My plan was to continue BC until September, since I am taking a vacation in August and don't want any unpleasant changes in my cycle to ruin my trip. I picked up my new ring on Saturday, and brought it to work with me on Sunday since I had been running late. On the way to work, I get a call from my boyfriend. "Go pick up the New York Post and read the article called Birth Control Killed My Beloved."
So I pick up the paper and read the article. I was in complete shock. These women, young, healthy, and look what happened. I am 24, a smoker, a drinker, and rarely exercise. The only thought going through my head is how lucky I am to be alive and in decent health.
So I made the decision right then and there not to put my ring in. However, still being nervous about my vacation, I thought I would give a call to my GYN to see if she could prescribe me the patch until after my vacation. Before I did this, I googled this event, along with the 37 lawsuits that were filed against Nuva Ring two weeks ago, and found out THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. All of the birth controls. I am now officially off birth control, for the rest of my life. How I could be so oblivious to this, I have no idea.
It is now Monday, the day after I should have started my new cycle. I was hoping to feel like a million dollars, like I have read some women do, but instead I feel like crap. I am extremely moody and have a bad headache. I am hoping I will return to normal soon.
I have one thing to say to all of you: Every woman is different, and every BC is different, but if I were any of you, I would get off whatever you are taking NOW. It's too risky, and who knows what kind of side effects we may have down the road? It's not worth it!

I actually enjoyed being on it for a year with no side effects. Then the side effects started creeping up on me - but a very slow and insidious onset. I was increasingly more fatigued and was getting lots of "tension" headaches. Got increasingly more dry and itchy in the vaginal area - it got to the point of being non-stop and driving my crazy on a daily basis. I was using aquafore on a daily basis. I also had a rash at my panty line which was very annoying. I also started getting what felt like hot flashes. After 2 years of being on it the side effects were pretty bad but I still didn't link it to nuva ring, especially because I was complaining about symtoms to my gynocologist and she never said it could be side effects - pretty bad, huh? My weirdest symptom was feeling very "hot" in the uterus - almost like there was a fever in my whole uterine area and a lot of sweating in the groin area. I also had what other people described as feeling uncomfortable in their own skin. It also completely killed my sex drive. At three years I took myself off it because I was starting to get scared that it was because of the Nuvaring. Within days I started feeling better - not normal yet, but better. Within a couple of month almost all symptoms had subsided. The dryness and itchiness took the longest to subside but eventually did. I felt like myself again physically and sexually. Getting off Nuva Ring was the best thing I ever did. I only wish I did it sooner. I am very angry that it is so heavily promoted by gynocologists and that there was not more research done on it first. I have been telling people absolutely not to use it. I only hope it didn't do anything really drastic like affect my fertility. Did anyone have any fertility problems from using Nuva Ring??

So glad I found this site! I have been on zocor for several years and began having pains in my hips and had tension headaches. X-rays were taken and the dr. said I had arthritis in my neck and back, ok, I accepted that but what about my fingers, elbow, arm and shoulders? I know I have carpal tunnel in my right hand but getting on and off the toilet was very difficult with the pain. I could hardly move, my legs ached so bad. my memory was terrible, i thought old age! I am 55 years old! I have hot flashes, night sweats, don't sleep well, vision is getting blurry. I decided after reading everyones comments which sounded like I was writing them, to go off of zocor. Within 3 days I began feeling less achy. I do wear a brace on my hand for the carpal tunnel, which helps some but not totally. It has been a full week and i can move so much better. My hands and wrist are still sore but my arms and legs are feeling better. I just hope in weeks to come I feel alot better. We got back to the doctor the beginning of May so I am hoping he will agree with me for going off the medication. After all, it is my body!

To Cristy
I stopped Yasmin 5 months ago, 2 months ago I started to get headaches every day, I was very concerned I had a tumour, my headaches were in the back of my eyes and on the left and right back of my head like a tight band, I have since seen a neurosurgeon and he has assured me there is nothing wrong, I had a scan done and I am still waiting for the results. The only advice I can give to you is read up about anxiety and headaches, I found my headaches were through anxiety (tension headaches) and nothing I took for them worked, after weeks of persistent headaches they are finally easing. I worried about them every day and made things worse but the anxiety kept them there, when your anxiety eases you will notice your headches ease as well.
You will get better, the ladies on this site have told me I would get better and I am, it is slow but I am getting there and so will you.
Joanne.

I was up to 600mg of neurontin TID, for tension headaches, along with 150mg of elavil QD. My neurologist decided to wean me off the neurontin and told me how to taper off of it. I am now taking 600 mg QD, I am experiencing burning sensation that started in breast, then the rib cage, my back and all my extremeties and finally ended in my face. Is this a normal side effect from withdrawing from the neurontin. And if so, is there any damages that it can cause and if so, is that damage permanant? Can you please e- mail me back and let me know? I am very concerned and worried about this. Thankyou.

Experienced distorted vision, extreme drowsyness, dizziness. Seemed to work on tension headaches, but I was sleeping it off most of the time. Works well if you don't have anything to do with your day but lay down. I have stopped taking my morning dosage in order to be able to drive and function at work. Having a severe headache is still more functional than sleeping half the day off. The dosage was one pill three times a day as needed. This was in combination with Vioxx (anti-inflamatory/ pain reliever) once a day.

21-year old male taking Levaquin for 11 days for sinusitis.
Side effects in chronological order:
Chest Pain and tightness/Tachicardia, high blood pressure, had to go for a ECG the day after beginning the drug. Brought it up with the doctor who told me it was not the antibiotic.
Tension Headaches (intermittent) and mostly towards the evenings/nights. Even had some pain in my right eye for 2 days, when I looked to the corner of my eye.
Neck and back pains, which I think may cause or at least exacerbate the headaches.
Insomnia as well.
I shall stop taking it today and go see my doctor to discuss this. I feel less worried now that I've been enlightened about how many people experience side effects with this drug. Of course you read the "possible side-effects" leaflet and dismiss it. I won't be doing that again.
Good luck to all, Thomas.

I take it for headaches as well and it makes me very tired and I've noticed that when my doctor up-ed my dosage, the zoloft didn't work as well. So far I haven't had any relief from my migraines and tension headaches and I've started to have muscle pains with my migraines in my neck and shoulders.

I have terrible tension headaches after taking everything from everything over the counter even the pm ones so my mom gave me a couple of her ultracets to take. This stuff makes me feel VERY weird. Very disoriented, can't hardly function (at work) I know I am here but it feels like my mind is off wondering some where, very dry mouthed, very tired, was up all night last night. The list goes on and on however my headache is GONE!! That is what I was looking for!!!

I'm glad I read this. I got the Mirena in March of 2007. I didn't have any symptoms for about the first year. In February of 2008, I started getting headaches almost every day and thought I had tension headaches... Then, I would come home from work feeling tired and irritable and just sleep for hours, wake up to eat dinner and spend time with my husband and son and then go back to bed. I'm SO tired of being tired and irritable. I've gone through small bouts of depression and anxiety. Then, what's happened in the past two months is that my hair has gotten thinner (my hairstylist even noticed) and I've begun to break out really bad around my chin and neck. I've NEVER had a problem with acne before and now these are scarring! It's horrible. If I hadn't come by this site, I would still be wondering what's wrong with me, but now I know. I'm only 24 years old and I have the sex drive of an 80 year old, I swear. I thought I could wait it out and have Mirena removed as scheduled in March 2009, but I can't! I am getting it out as soon as the GYN can give me an appointment!
