I had terrible sinus problems combined with my deviated septum. Swollen nostrils, constant nasal drip, couldn't sleep at night, and terrible sore throat in the morning. Started taking nasonex two months ago... Stopped all my problems in a few days. After two weeks I was only spraying each nostril once about 2-3 times a week. My periods are always every 28 days and my past period was 10 days late, I am still waiting for this months period (over a week late). I realized it has to be the nasonex. Along with menstrual problems, I have had terrible nightmares, acne problems (for the first time ever, I'm 24), a few nosebleeds, headaches that have lasted over 4 days, and itchy skin. I didn't put it all together until I saw this website. I will not be spraying my nose again, from now on I will be using the nedi pot.

Just started my six year old son on Zyrtec again. The dr. said he could take the adult pill now 10mg. The last few nights he has wakened with terrible nightmares/night terrors. And after reading these posts i remember taking him off for the winter (he was on the liquid 5mg) and i remember him always itching his arms and legs. i remember giving him oatmeal baths. Now i know it is from stopping the Zyrtec. I am calling the doc tomorrow about these nightmares. He was also on Singulair 4mg for 1 1/2 years then one year ago was upped to 5mg. Within one dose we noticed he was very depressed and cried easily. After a week called the doc about it, stopped it then had our son back in a few days. Will Never give Singulair again and now stopping Zyrtec. All these meds are so scary. A part of me feels these meds are created because it is a HUGE business. They have side effects then you have to take other meds for those side effects and it is a never ending circle i feel purposely created by pharmaceutical companys to make money. And we are all suffering because of their greed. Shame on them

My 11 year old step-daughter has been on Singulair for 3 years and has had trouble sleeping - waking up 8-10 times nightly, sometimes with terrible nightmares as listed on some of the other posts. Thank you so much for sharing this info. We took her to an ENT today and the only thing they offered was to take out her tonsils and adnoids but the were basically normal - all they wanted was money the way I see it. We are taking her off all her meds tonight; she also takes Asmanex, Nasonex and Allegra.

My son now age nine went off Singulair two years ago. He was one it for about a year and was having terrible nightmares. I did not realize why until he went off of it. A year later the doctor put him back on it. I forgot and was not quite sure it was the Singulair so we tried again. About 2 months later it started again. I quickly remembered and took him off. When I asked the doctor I was told it is a rare side effect. I am happy to see this site so others know and can become aware. My daughter however has been on it for years and had done well. We are trying to take her off though because she seems very nervous and anxious (more than typical). I want to see if the medicine makes a difference.

I have only been taking this drug for about 3 weeks and I could not explain at first but just knew things were off. I can not sleep, have terrible nightmares all night long, wake up at 4 if I do sleep. I am 53 and have long hair and my head itches all the time. I now fear hair loss as I have read in other complaints. My eyes are dry, I just feel off, majorly ! My back and legs ache all the time, especially when I first get up in the morning I can seriously barely move or bend down. I feel like I am 83 instead of 53. I have had no headaches but have had weight gain already, especially in my midsection. I feel off mentally all the time, not able to concentrate at all. I am calling my doctor on Monday and they have to give me something else. Has anyone else had these symptoms and what else can you take or do?

IF YOU FEEL/EXPERIENCE ANYTHING ABNORMAL FOR YOU OR DO NOT FEEL QUITE YOURSELF SEE YOUR G.P./NURSE AND SERIOUSLY CONSIDER GETTING THE MIRENA COIL REMOVED
This medication may be suitable for some people but if you experience any of the following, I urge you please, please please, 'demand' that you want the Mirena removed. My symptoms were noticeably worse around my time of ovulation. I've also found out that people previously treated for/suffering from depression should not be prescribed this medication. (I've been on Prozac in the past). I had it fitted in Aug 2007 to combat very heavy periods and severe PMT at the recommendation of my G.P.and had it removed Sept 2008. Symptoms I experienced :-

Dry/furry mouth
Headaches (over time these became migraines)
No concentration
Poor memory
Lethargy (constantly tired and drained)
Smelly discharge (still noticeable straight after washing)
Very heavy legs
Numbness in my legs
Joint pain and clicking (mainly in my shoulders and knees)
Developed facial hair (mainly under chin and jawline)
Hair loss
Weight gain around my stomach (without increasing my food intake)
Feeling constantly bloated.
Spotting randomly for duration of Mirena being fitted. (Brown spotting)

Panic Attacks ( awoken in the middle of the night with them) escalating to the following:-
Palpitations (for no apparent reason)
Clammy/sweating palms and feet
Aggitation ( during an episode if someone was talking to me I wanted to really yell at them 'Just shut the **** up! You're doing my head in!)
Feelings of madness (actually wanted to run away from my own mind)
Pins and needles/Tingling in my hands and feet
Electric shock like surges going through my body (my nerve endings were obviously suffering)
Muscle tremours/shaking (mainly arms and legs)
Eyes became extremely light sensitive
Heightened awareness of sound

Insomnia
Terrible nightmares
Depression
Feelings of detachment from the real world.
Visual disturbances
Episodes of blurred vision

These symptoms did not appear straight away but appeared gradually and with more veangance the longer I had the coil. The more concerning episodes I experienced happened after about 3 months and very erratically. I could not predict when or what time of day I was going to have an episode or pinpoint any reason for bringing on an attack. I had no control over the effects, was absolutely petrified when I experienced a panic attack and just had to ride it out.
All my G.P. did was prescribe me anti-depressants to which I reacted badly. Blood tests also failed to show anything abnormal.
I even tried herbal medicines as an alternative and experienced similar reactions to the prescription drugs. I've now become very pill-phobic and would rather ride out and get over symptoms myself. Paracetamol & Ibuprofen being the only medicine I trust to take now. I had a horrendous year and everyone suffered. Not only my family, but I was signed off of work for 3 months. It was a very worrying time for my husband and my children, who all had to keep an eye on me and witness the effects of my symptoms. On looking back now, I don't know how I managed to function at all and even do my job. Most of the time my energies were spent concentrating on trying to appear normal and held-together to the outside world.
Although I feel 100% better in myself, I noticeably experience more migraines and headaches than I ever did in the past, along with palpitations, usually during my week before. Two days before it I often really feeI like I'm losing the plot! I also really bloat up now a week before my period, feel sick and have a feeling of being ' very full', so am hungry but don't really want to eat. One of my big toe-nails has gone black over the past few months and not through injury. This has just been sent away for analysis. The one on the other foot is raised/ridged/thick/yellow, but normal growth has resumed half-way up now, which I feel co-incides with the state of my health on having Mirena removed. The nurse I saw recently explained that it is true that nails and hair show the history of our health so, for me, this would seem true.
I wish I'd been made fully aware of all possible side-effects of this medication and am now actually concerned that the effects I've suffered may have left some permanent damage.
In spite of all this, it's so good to be me.

I was prescribed Yaz for my PMDD. I have been on it 10 days now and have bled for the full 10 days.
I have had no energy, feel paranoid, and have very strong urges to commit suicide.
I am shaking, sweating, can't sleep and terrible nightmares.
I am crying for no reason.
I am so glad I found this site. I really thought I was losing my mind.
I'm going to the doctor in a little bit for a full explanation as to why I was not informed of these side effects?
He made it out to be the cure to so many years of PMDD.
I was excited to have finally found Yaz now I wish I had never started it.

My son has had asthma and allergies since he was a newborn, thanks to and undiagnosed RSV infection that led to him being in an oxygen tent for 5 days. Since that time we have had him on several different medications to control it. Mostly, just albuteral through a nebulizer. Controlloing it this way worked for a while but eventually we put him on singulair. My son who was always the smallest boy in class went to being the heaviest. He also had terrible nightmares about his teacher and really bad cramps and pins and needles in his legs and feet upon waking EVERY DAY. He even began walking funny because of it. He had stomach cramps and diarrhea. His grades were awful all of a sudden and nothing could keep his attention. He went from being an easygoing easy to please child to being aggravated by the slightest thing. He was always getting in fights with other kids. He thought noone liked him and he began not liking himself. I took hm to a hypnotherapist to try to ontrol his anger but that did not help. NEVER in a million years did I ever think it was Singulair until I heard about someone else having the same experiences. Needless to say I have stopped giving him his singulair and in only three days have already seen my easygoing son coming back. Hopefully his side effects will completely go away.

I have taken this drug for 4 nights, as prescribed. It is for GERD caused by RA medications and stress. It seemed to help for two nights, then I started feeling worse, back to the same feelings I had previously. I have difficulty being able to take a "deep" breath and I had terrible nightmares last night. I woke up and was feeling extremely depressed all day and had no energy at all. I think I will have to stop taking this before I get even worse.

I was on Avelox in December for a sinus infection. I had some pain and also had anxiety and bad dreams, etc. But I just finished taking 10 days of Levaquin 500 mg for another sinus infection and I feel like my life has turned into a real nightmare!!! I have severe joint and tendon pain, swelling, had several nights of terrible nightmares and for the past few days have had a hard time walking and getting up and down is very painful and difficult! I've had pain in my kidneys for a few days, bloating, etc. At first I thought my fibromyalgia had the worst flareup ever! Now I am really concerned as to what long-term effects I may have from this medication!

I had terrible side effects last year when my doctor had me on Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia. I went off of it on September 26, 2008 and had a mild heart attack on October 17, 2008. I thought it was the worst drug nightmare I would ever live through but now I wonder if the Avelox/Levaquin situation will be!

If anyone knows anything that can help reverse the consequences of being given this terrible medication, please share them! I would rather have lived with my sinus infections than contend with the agony I am now enduring!

I went to the doctor's office recently because I was pretty sure I had a sinus infection...and it turns out I did. My doctor prescribed me biaxin and told me that I should stay on this for at least 3 weeks until the infection clears up.. When I first started taking this medication, everything was fine....but now things seem to be worse.. I am on week two of this medicine, and my sinus infection has developed into a terrible cold.. I have a funny smell in my nose(I don't know if it's because of the cold or the medicine) I have an AWFUL metallic taste in my mouth, sometimes I have severe abdominal cramping, and for the last two weeks I've had difficulty sleeping.. I will fall asleep around 12:00 p.m but find myself awake by 4 am and then I have trouble falling asleep(when I do sleep I have terrible nightmares).. Almost every time I wake up in the middle of the night, I have this nasty taste in my mouth... I do find that when I eat certain foods it helps to stop the metallic taste.. I have adhd/ocd and I have noticed that this has gotten much WORSE since I started taking the medicine...I feel space out all the time and dizzy and my vision is blurry.. I have a funny smell in my nose right now and difficulty breathing sometimes.. I am about to call the doctor and find out if I should stop taking this, or just keep taking it for the next 5 days.. I just can't handle it anymore because I feel like I'm going insane.. I don't even know as of now if I still have a sinus infection.. Please do me a favor-if you are considering taking this medication please avoid it at all costs because it will make you feel like complete crap.. There are other medicines that you can take I am sure.. I don't even know why this is on the market....it's worse than the birth control pill!

My 6 1/2 year old daughter has been on Singulair for 3 1/2 to 4 years now and we have had horrible experiences! She was having night terrors, mood swings, angry issues, self control issues, crying over small things, etc. We have been to psychiatrists and psychologists who have diagnosed her with mood disorder, sensory processing disorder and anxiety disorder! Well she has recently been having stomach problems so we have been going to a GI to figure that out. I got online to research and found numerous sites that told how Singulair causes all these things in children. We took my daughter off the meds and within 3 or 4 days seen a tremendous difference! She is a totally different child! It just really frustrates me and saddens me that all these children and their families are going through all this and the doctors do not seem to care. The allergist or psychiatrist didn't believe me. They say no study has ever proven such things. I don't care what they say we as parents know our children and we are the experts when it comes to seeing how they change when on this medicine, we are the ones that live with them and are with them everyday not the doctors! I think they just don't want to lose out on their money from prescribing this drug 90% of children with allergies and asthma!

Singulair caused terrible nightmares, vivid, evil dreams and tremors. After a while change of personality and aggression, irritability and anxiety. As soon as it was stopped the nightmares stopped and back to being normal. Very dangerous medication. (Adult)

Will turn you into an emotionless, lethargic, drunk, apathetic zombie that has no more creative or human spark than a turnip does. Throw this crap in the garbage - NOW! I was prescribed this devil spawn drug from a PAIN MANAGEMENT doctor who told me it would help potentiate the Tylenol 3's he gave me. Drink a case of whiskey and smoke a crack rock the size of a buick and you'll essentially reach the point I was at after one of these pills. I started saying crazy things to my Girlfriend, started rearranging the refrigerator, slept for 10 hours (and I normally only sleep 4-6 hours) and woke up with these thoughts in my head like "What am I doing with my life? Nothing is going right, Everything I touch turns to hell". By about 10:30 in the morning at work, it finally started coming out of me and I started waking up and realized just how bad it was. DO NOT take this medication unless you are so severely psychotic that you simply can't make yourself stop killing squirrels. Why the hell a DOCTOR would prescribe this evil in pill form for Pain Management is so far beyond me, it's like wiping before you poop, just don't make no sense.

I have only taken two doses and the dreams with really bad heart wrenching situations have happened both nights. Also, I wake up fine, but if I lay down again to read I end up falling asleep and sleeping so hard I can hear myself snoring, I am there, but not there.

But at the same time I can tell my BP is lower, my hands and feet are no longer red and swollen, my upper chest and face no longer look like I have rosacia.

Finally, both days so far, TERRIBLE headache on top of head and across right temple.

My 5 year old daughter was started on Zyrtec about 10 days ago (Dr.s orders) and WOW... not good. We can not see any changes in her allergies but her moodswings are way off. Last nite she told me "daddy that clear medicine I take now, makes me feel busy and funny". When we ask her why she is acting rude and being ugly, she says she doesn't know. She has been taking Singlar for about 2 months and Nasonex for about 1-2 years. HELP!!!!!

My son, who just turned 14 this month, was on Singulair for over 2 years.
He was diagnosed with reactive airway disease and possibly Asthma--and prescribed this awful drug-even back in 2004. The doctor said how wonderful this med was and prevents any further attacks.. So, for 2 years-every night, he took this mood altering, destructive drug. He lost all interest in school, his athletics-soccer, skateboarding, biking..in fact became almost a vacant , very unhappy, child-had stomach aches, joint pains and reflux--why--I brought him to the doctor and Pediatric center so frequently--all they kept saying his --his asthma is better, much be other issues...Even after the March 2008 suicide--his doctor said-that is just an isolated incident-just monitor him--It is a good drug. Right, month by month his behavior escalated to wanting to die, no reason to go to school-he said he was stupid and a failure and why don't I understand there is no reason to his life. A usually happy fun-loving boy -my son- didn't want to live. Nothing made him happy-I started to believe what the doctors said--maybe something or someone at school (bully, pedophile??) caused this change. Terrible nightmares and vivid dreams...Until this past July, I asked him want to go to the library for some books or dvd's...he went ballistic-threw everything off his computer desk and tried to break his chair. He is not an aggressive boy but this behavior was becoming a daily issue. Along with everything flying off his table, was his bottle of Singulair pills. It then dawned on me..I have been poisoning my only son. The child I know and love and gave birth to returned within a few days--although I am worried sick about further asthma attacks --all the doctors can prescribe is a steroid drug-asthmex or Pulmicort.. I cannot understand nor comprehend why this drug is being prescribed for children and young adults. The guilt I live with is terrible as my son has lost 2 years of his life--
and thought there was something really wrong with him-At least we woke up---in time--how about some other parents..thinking it's just normal adolescent behavior for their child or their fault???

A friend told me today that she took her son out of Singulair because of the terrible nightmares he was having whilentaking it. I have not slept well in the last year and a half that my 2 1/2 year old son has been in Singulair but never though it was due to the drug since he was doing so well with the post RSV related asthma. I am taking him off today, I hope he can sleep better and his bad temper and aggressive responses cease. He was never like that before. I can believe that so many people have gone through the same situation with their kids and I never heard about it until today

I have read what everyone has said about the side of effects of Singulair. I really thought it was safe as for I researched the side effects and the clinical pharmacology. I also really trust our pulmonologist. My daughter started taking singulair at the age of 3 due to asthma induced pneumonia. She will soon be 4. She also has had terrible nightmares, which I dismissed as night terrors. She also complains at times it hurts to walk and her legs are tired. I thought she was over reacting and just wanted me to carry her....maybe not! I have decided to take her off the medicine today. I don't want to take the chance of her having any type of emotional side effects. It is not worth it for "mild" asthma which hasn't been confirmed, just assumed due to her age.

I have a 19 month old baby and she was prescribed Singulair when she was 15 months old after a bad bout of pneumonia. So she has been on it for 4 months and I haven't seen any severe side effects. To be honest, I am one of those people that follows whatever her pediatrician recommends and I trust that after 25 years as a doctor, he knows what he is doing. But all of these reports are now terrifying me. I haven't noticed any change in her behavior or moods, and she has always been a very rambunctious baby so if there has been any change (like increased aggression or anxiety) it is hard to tell in such a small child. Has anyone had any experience giving Singulair to a child this young (under 2)?

Our son started taking Singulair three years ago at age 4. Last year he started having really bad headaches and stomach aches. After taking him to the doctor, we thought he was having migraines and was lactose intolerant. He's always been a kind, gentle, well mannered child until this school year. He's in the first grade and has been starting fights, saying mean things to his classmates and hitting other children for no reason. He also has terrible nightmares that are very gruesome for a 7 year old. I've been wondering how in the world his little mind could come up with some of the horrible stuff he tells me he dreams. It scares him enough for him to come into our room and sleep with us. I'm so angry that we were never told of the serious side effects this medicine can cause. We're taking our baby off of this medicine immediately. I agree, we should all file a class action lawsuit - and I have the disciplinary reports from my sons school to prove how his behavior has changed. We're praying for all the children and families that have been victims of the greed of the drug companies once again. This is a shame.

okay so I am new the B.C and I was taking Alesse for about 3-4 months and once i started on the fourth month I started to get terrible nightmares and they never seemed to go away, first I thought it was because I was stress but the thing was I wasn't stressed I just started going out with my boyfriend and my family life is not bad, so I didn't understand it till I told one of my girlfriends in class and sje told me that there was some bad stuff about Alesse, so I was going to switch. But yesterday my pharmacist dropped off my pills and it wasn't Alesse it was Aviane and I was like what ... but I took it anyways because I have really bad cramps that come with my period and such so I took it for the first time this morning with out knowing what it was about. My doctor didn't even tell me about it. so I decided to go look on the internet to see what it was about... and now I don't know I mean I have a bad enough time with my normal period let along it getting worse because of this pill. I really don't want that to happen to me, like I am only 16 so i don't worry about the sex drive stuff but mood swings I don't want that to screw up my new relationship with a great guy.
So if any one can tell me the straight facts and help me out because I don't know if I want to go to my doctor and ask her to switch me before i even get to the end of the pack.... so please any help would be great.

areas that help would be awesome in is
what pill to go to if I do switch
what are the main side effects
what is the best thing to do if I do get these side effects

I have been on Toprol for over 5 years. I have finally (after numerous attempts) - been able to wean off of it. I am on my 10th day (7 day step down and now 3 days with NO Toprol). Can anyone that has successfully gotten off of Toprol please tell me how long it took to start feeling better?

It has caused be severe GERD/Acid reflux, SEVERE breathing problems, and has stopped controlling my HBP - in fact my B/P is HIGHER on Toprol than it ever used to be. It also caused my heart to race from time to time.

I want to get excited about feeling better - just waiting for that to happen. Anyone know what I can expect? Thank you so much.

Was prescribed Avelox for bronchitis. Third day of taking it I was feeling paranoid, terrified, having terrible nightmares, not sleeping, dizzy, nauseated and crushing chest pain. Called my doctor who refused to believe it was the Avelox which was the only drug I was on. He prescribed Biaxin to replace it which only made things worse. I would NEVER take either of these drugs again and I have changed doctors. My mother had to be hospitalized with hallucinations about 15 years ago after taking Biaxin. She has never really completely recovered her life because of that. She was out of work for months and lost her job. She now has anxiety attacks which she never had before. Drugs like this should be illegal.
