I went on Yasmin in late February of 2005. In early April of 2005,I started having severe anxiety and panic attacks. I had experienced a bout with anxiety and panic one other time in my life, but it was 10 years prior to this, and I'd had no trouble since. After having cousneling and working very hard to deal with the anxiety, things got better. However, I still don't feel like the strong, confident woman I was before all the trouble began -- I used to feel like I could do anything and like I was on top of the world. Since I've had anxiety and panic issues, I've had trouble getting to the gym (something I used to do 6 - 7 days a week), and I am fearful of things I was never fearful of before. Anyway, about a week ago, I started thinking back on this whole journey and realized that the anxiety started just about 4 - 6 weeks after taking Yasmin. So I typed in anxiety and yasmin in Google and came across this website -- I have been so surprised to see so many other women struggling with these same issues. I am now off Yasmin (I'm supposed to start a new pack tomorrow, but I will not be) and am very hopeful that I'll return to my former self sometime soon. My husband and I are hoping to have a baby early next year, so I won't be taking any hormone birth control after this -- I don't know if I ever will again.

Hi all: My wife has been having problems for about a year and when we started talking about them with our counselor, I realized that the problems began the same time she started taking Topamax.
She takes 100mg a day, (4, 25mg pills every night before bed)
Thinking back and thinking currently, she has had memory problems, problems holding objects, NO SEX drive, has had problems thinking clearly, moody and is mad at me a lot. This has all lead to problems in our marriage.
I'm trying to see if these side effects are common!
I have read some posting from others that show some or all of these sypmtoms occurring in themselves or their loved ones.
I love my wife greatly and have mentioned not taking these pills anymore, but she has resisted. I'm hopeful with some research and some more first hand accounts, that I can convince her to give this a try and possibly save our marriage.

Thanks to any and all who can help.

My 3 yr old son was diagnosed with croup. Several days later it appeared to be going towards the lungs. His cough was more asthma-like so started neb with albuterol. A couple days later, he was still on neb but coughing almost nonstop. He was exhausted that night but hadn't been able to sleep b/c of the coughing. First, tried cough syrup. At two hours, no relief. Thinking back to last Spring and the cough relief he had with Singulair, I pulled out his still valid Rx and gave him one. Great relief! Around the same time the next night, coughing attack returned so hubby and I thought we'd try to give him relief one more night. Next day, we awake to a terror child. Crying and fits all day. That night, we notice he's talking in his sleep and grinding his teeth so loud we can hear it in our room. His last dose of Singulair was Thursday night. It's Monday AM and I still don't have "my son" back. If anyone has reassurance on how long it takes to recover from this, please email me at ******. I am praying that my sweet, laid-back son returns (sure, he'd throw the 3 yr old attitude out occasionally). This angry, irrational child I'm living with right now just breaks my heart. He doesn't deserve this... I want my happy, cuddly sweetheart back! There are so many cases like ours that I've read that it just makes me sick that I wasn't warned. He will never take Singulair again and I'm going to research more natural solutions for allergies, etc. What a tragedy that I hope doesn't take a long term toll on my son!

Hi,

I was on 10 mg of Lipitor and seemed ok which I was on for about 2 months. Then my doctor increased the dosage to 20 mg., shortly after that I had such a severe red and itchy rash on both of my eyelids. So itchy and painful, at times I felt like pulling my eyes out. I went to a skin doctor, an allergist, and eye doctor. I changed my make up, changed laundry detergent. None of this helped. Then I started thinking back on when this rash started and it was about the time my doctor increased the dosage of the lipitor. I finally just took myself off of it. I was in pain like this for 2 months, I thought I would go out of my mind with the itching. It took about 3 weeks after I stopped taking the Lipitor before the systems started to disappear. Just wanted to share this info with everyone. I hope this helps anyone that may be having similar problems.

Just started Levaquin 250 mg for a UTI, have only taken one pill (last night) and experienced the most wicked nightmares and disorientation upon waking that I have ever had. Fell asleep at 10:30, awoke at 12:00 and was up the rest of the night with insomnia. I remember my sister in law telling me her husband experienced depression, nightmares and palpatations after being on Levaquin for a few days, and that is what I initially thought of after my head cleared a little last night. Got up, read the PDR (probably should have done that BEFORE I took the meds) and then found this site. Thinking back, I stopped taking this two years ago when I had palpations and severe anxiety. That's it for me!

i used nasonex as needed for alergies for about six months. i was having migranes for about two weeks. i dont think i used nasonex the whole two weeks. one morning i woke up and i couldnt see out of my right eye and my head fealt terrible. i hadnt been sleeping well, so i took an ibuprophen and had a cup of coffee and 20 minutes later, my sight had come back. the next morning i had the same problem, so i took and ibuprophen and waited. i waited all day and finaly at about 8 at night i went into the emergency room. i have been tested for every disease out there and i had no answers for why i lost my vision in the right eye. about six months later (when i very rapidly lost most of my vision in the left eye) i was diagnosed with chronic steroid dependent autoimmune optic neuritis. i have wondered thinking back if the nasonex was responsible for the steroid dependancy, but i guess there is no way to be sure. if anyone has anything to tell me or a simmilar story to tell me email me at ******

Hi Chrissy,

I know exactly how u feel....I have had these AM I DYING issues for the past 6mths before i linked them to they Yasmin and i am still soooo worried that something is wrong with me nut 6weeks post Yasmin it does not seem as bad but still comes and goies but thinking back itis an improvement of the month that i stopped yasmin and i was having my husband ring me everymorning at 7am as ithought that if i died in my sleep at least the kids could tell their dad if ithey couldnt wake me as each night i was sure this would be it for me ...that i had some serious life threatening disease or i was on the verge of a massive heart attack and all these symptoms were the warning signs of my heart stopping.
I am still internally thinking hey high blodd pressure must be bad but seeing on the posts the women that write that they had high blood pressure also post yamin gives me reassurance that they were alive when they wrote that so hey i am gonna make it ( see another negative yamin effect).
this site has saved my life and i am always here now also for anyone whom needs me... it reminds me a little of pay it forward the ones before me found hope here , i found hope from them and maybe i can help another...

I have been taking Singulair for seasonal allergies since April of this year. My allergies have improved, but the other side effects have been grusome for me. I have been so depressed. I'm a RN & at first thought it was just me. Then I started thinking back of when it started. I have also gained about 20 pounds since starting this medication. Most recently I have been having palpitations, feel very nervous, jittery. I kept telling myself it wasn't this medicine, but after seeing these post, I think it is. Especially this weight gain. I just can hardly believe it!

The first night I took it (10mg), I took it about 1/2 hour before bed. Got extremely dizzy and I don't remember anything after brushing my teeth. Took it 2 other times after that 1 5mg 1 10mg. The 10mg worked better. In every case I was in a daze the next day until about noon. Thinking back, I did have some memory problems during that time period.
