I have been taking Lisinopril for about a year now. My highest BP reading was 217/174--that was high as some of the nurses in the ER had ever seen! I was one of those that didn't have any HBP symptoms--I was in the ER because I had a crook in my neck that had me incapacitated. I started taking the Lisinopril and my BP is now within normal range (120/70) and hasn't been that low since I was in my teens. I do have the dull headaches, night sweats, stomach pain, trouble sleeping, constipation, and the dry cough but I feel like dealing with those things is worth it since now I don't have to worry about my BP going through the roof and killing me in seconds.

I think that there are a lot of older people describing their experiences. I'm 21 and I think it is the second worst pill I have ever been on, the first being the patch. Pills obviously affect people differently, but my doctor put me on Loestrin 24 to help with my endometriosis, to make my period shorter and consequently, make my cramps less. Well, my period is only one day shorter and the cramps are worse, to say the least. Anyone with endometriosis can understand the feeling of getting your uterus ripped out slowly every month, the back hurting so much you can barely move, the hot flashes, and it just has gotten worse the last few months that I've been on Loestrin. Also, I've never been over 135 lbs in my life. I was 132 when I was put on Loestrin. I went to the doctor and was weighed in at 138 so I decided to start working out and be careful about what I eat. I was doing really well at my new little work out plan, but then weighed in at 145! To never be over 135 and suddenly be 145 is awful. Plus, my moodiness that came with another pill, has changed to severe depression for a couple days a month. I'd rather be angry than feel worthless. I've never really had problems with those things before I started taking pills but I'm definitely going back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. That's my 'safe' pill.

I had the Mirena put in when my son was a year old....i have had it now for over 2 years...i experienced the cramping, bloating, bleeding, etc.....i did not know that i would probably gain weight.....i chose the mirena because i was already 30 years old, a smoker and was previously on birth control for ten+ years before stopping it to conceive my son. I slowly began to gain a few pounds, but always put it off to work, my routine changing, etc. We moved to Alabama 6 months later and I noticed that I kept packing on the weight. I contributed it to the lack of an exercise routine that i could be consistent with. I realized this , so i began getting back into the gym, eating right and drinking my water. Still no weight loss. I have since started school again and gained more weight. Again, i blamed it on the stress of school and trying to take care of a three year old. But, after a while, I started to question whether it is really those things, or is it the Mirena. No Doctor has ever suggested that it could be the Mirena. My internal medicine doctor even noticed the weight gain and she doesn't even mention the possibility of it being from the IUD. I know that I am not making this up.....something is not right. NO matter what i do, the weight will not come off......and now, because of the extra weight, i have blood pressure problems. I am 5'9 and weigh 185 pounds.....I have only weighed that one time in my life, and that is when i was pregnant with my son.....I am so discouraged , depressed and just totally give out......I hate the way I look and feel. I used to be tall and slender with a few curves, but GEEES.....now i just have curves and alot of them!!! I think that i have decided to get the Mirena removed , also......and i will just have to stay hopeful that the weight will come off, eventually. Any comments, words of encouragement , personal experiences would be appreciated.....thanks .....lmc31

Been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 three years ago, I was urged by my doctor to take statins to lower my LDL level (which was 130) down under 100. At the beginning I was reluctant but my doctor insisted. So I started to take Lipitor (the Mercedes of the statins, so I've been told), 20 mg a day. I've noticed that my health was deteriorating: muscle pain, confusion, bad memory, trembling when I have to write something, and more recently a terrible pain all along my leg. I am practicing sport on a regular basis (4 to 5 times a week), walking a lot, climbing stairs. I'm 47 kg, very slim and I didn't have any muscle pain before. I could not understand why I feel all this pains. Now I've been reading all those things people testify about statins and I realise that it is possible that all the health problems I had recently are the result of Lipitor taking. I'm quiting this drug tonight!!!

@nkgulri:

This is a thing which many women are suffering from within hormonal changes. Some women have those problems after pregnancy or during menopause and so on....

And remember: Stopping the pill is a real big hormonal change your body has to go through, so it seems to be "normal", that you're loosing that much hair at the moment. As soon as your hormones are back in balance, this hair problem should stop!!

I have discovered, that my hair falls out more during special times within a month (ovulation or shortly before period)... Well, it's not that much but it definitely is there!!

So please try not to worry too much and give it some time... I know it sounds hard, but that's the only thing that can heal our bodies besides a good diet, drinking enough water a day and some supplements (B-Vitamines, Minerals (Magnesium, etc.)...). Those things seem to be very helpful as I experienced within the last 2 years...

I wish you all the best and keep us updated on how you're doing!!!

Greetings
Silke

guest35789.
it must sound very scary reading some of these posts, but don't worry .either way you are better get off this pill.if you are suffering bad effects whilst on it then chances are you will feel better off it,i did. i had anxiety, nausea, depression, aches pains, tingles, blurred vision et etc but most of those things have gone away now,the majority of them vanishes within the 1st month of being off yasmin. i am sorry but i don't know any really low dose pills as i stopped taking bcp's altogether but some people have posted that then went onto loestrin24 after stopping. if you are going onto another bcp it may prevent any side effects from developing from stopping yasmin. i really would recommend that you get off it. it has been proved that it is no better than any other pill. in fact the "unique ingredient" may actually be the one that makes us all feel so bad. i never had a problem on my previous bcp but have had my life ruined by yasmin. do some research into low dose pills and chat with you health care provider they me be of some use (although they will bevery unlikely to agree that yasmin has caused any of your problems!)

Kim,

you've mentioned that problems with the b-vitamines. I had a pretty similar experience with it. I didn't know if it was just in my head or really caused by the vitamines. Everytime I took one of the vitamin b (complex) pills about 2 hours later I felt something like uneasily, nervous and a dizzy. It was a very weird feeling that went away again after a few hours more.

I find it interesting, that you seem to have that feelings, too... So there must be a connexion..... Damn why can't anyone finally find out what that pill really is doing with our bodies and our metabolism!!!???

Your post really made my cry now kim! I know so much how you are feeling right now and reading all those things makes me remember, how I had been feeling about 1,5 to 2 years ago.... Life seemed so empty and meaningless, it was just a "being there somehow", not a "life". I exactly know what you mean with every single word you wrote!

But Kim believe me: You'll get out of there and one day you'll be able to do all the things you've mentioned again!! I'm so sure!! Try to believe us here, we really know what we're talking about. I never thought I'd be able again to sing in my band, I totally quitted thinking about. And now I'm back and still can't believe it!!

And try not to care too much about what other people, who DON'T really know you and your problems, say!! I know it sounds hard, but caring about their words, too, only makes it worse!! I know how they look at you and ask you, how you're doing, and the only thing they really like to hear is "Well, I'm doing completely fine, thanks...". And everything that is different from that they simply can't understand!! I've experienced that so many times...

Kim, also keep in touch with dejay and keep posting here, I think to have contact to other victims of that nightmare pill is really the only thing that really can help not to loose our mind totally!!

I'll think of you and pray for you both and all of the other women, especially for those, who are feeling as bad as we did or do and STILL don't know WHAT is going on!! I fear there are thousands of them out there, sitting in psychical clinics, taking thousands of pills that don't help and the only thing that really COULD help, would be getting off that Yasmin, but they simply don't know and their doctor's don't WANT to know!!!

Best wishes and big hugs to all of you!!
Silke (... eyes filled with tears)

Hi Sarah!!

Good to hear that your doc finally has put 2 and 2 together!! Well, I think doctor's should more often REALLY hear, what their patients are telling and not just do or believe what they can find in their "big wise books".

It's very interesting what you wrote about anxiety and dehydration. So your doctor really thinks, that dehydration may cause a raise of anxiety attacks??

Well, I watched myself getting more problems with anxiety again during hot summer days, especially when I've been sweating very much and forgot to drink enough. The muscle weakness is then coming up a little again (well, though DEFINITELY not as bad as it was one year ago!!) and I have to deal with the anxiety again, more than usual!! And another thing I found out: Magnesium is helping me very good with that symptoms.

So it seems as if my body has still problems with that dehydration and loss of minerals and vitamines brought on by Yasmin while taking it 5 long years until February 2005... The slightest change in those things (well, like not enough drinking, etc.) causes still some symptoms...

Could I be right with that speculation??

Best wishes to you and greetings from Germany!!

Silke

Ok..I took Yasmin for about a year and didn't really have any side effects. But about 2-3 months ago I switched to Ovcon 35 and absolutely loved it!! But I ran out of the Ovcon about 3 weeks ago and still had a pack of Yasmin...so I started it.. that way I wouldn't be without birth control...and I am into my 3rd week of Yasmin and I feel ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! My breasts are swollen and very tender ( as if I were pregnant ) and I keep having these on and off cramps in my lower abdomin...as if I were about to start my period!!! I don't understand it all really and it's kind of scary in a way...because I felt this way the first 2 times I was pregnant...( with these pains and all ). But the funny thing is I had my period about 2 weeks ago...so there is no way I could be pregnant!! I am also having the feeling like I'm not even here...kind of like I am just a zombie!! The feeling of everything just being strange in general...like nothing is going right!! I am super sleepy all the time...easily aggrivated...very emotional...sick on my stomach and I hate to say it...but my insides have been really tore up!! And all of those things are not how I was while I was taking the Ovcon!! I am also constantly feeling thirsty...and having the feeling that I have to pee...ALOT!!! It's all crazy to me...and I have 13 pills left in this pack of the Yasmin....and after these...I am NEVER EVER GOIN BACK ON THIS PILL!! To anyone who reads this in search of what we are all on this page doing....PLEASE DON'T CONSIDER YASMIN....IT'S THE WORST BIRTH CONTROL EVER INVENTED!!

ambien is great! after my last back surgery i was having trouble sleeping because of leg spasms (i am paraylzed from the stomach down) so my doc prescribed this drug, i get the greatest feeling about 20mins into taking the pill im all relaxed and calm, then i fall right to sleep. yes i experience memory loss (BIG TIME) i check my out-going calls in the morning and dont remember having even picked up the phone! its pretty amusing really, people always have funny things to tell about what i had done the night before. my mom was getting worried about me because i am only 18 so she wanted to switch me to the natrual stuff, i took three of those things the other night.. and it didnt do a thing, i couldnt sleep at all! i took 2 days off of ambien and im all gittery and anxious. i cant wait to take my pill tonight!! i may be addicted... but its not doing any harm to my body, so i dont see the problem, ive asked my mom (who is a nurse) if there are any long term effects of taking it and she said no, she even takes it herself. i am confindent in saying that if there were any long term side effects i would abruptly stop taking it. until then. LONG LIVE AMBIEN! :))

I began taking Celexa, once 2 years ago and decided to give it another try 1 year ago. It has worked for me. I have noticed weight gain over the last year but not sure I can attribute it to the Celexa. I have MS and chose Celexa when I was having a very emotional time, many things, Cancer, a relocation and everything that goes with MS. I chose only to go on 10mg of Celexa the 2nd time around. I now am cutting down to taking it every other day. I am waiting to see how I feel and taking it slow. What I have found is that I have been sleeping great. I also have picked up in my life: coaching a 2-3 grade team, and exercising when my young ones are in school/preschool. I am a stay-at-home mom and the exercise and coaching feeds my unused energies. I also find at least once a month time to get out with the girls. I find much strength in my women's bible study as well. One thing that I have learned is: At the time I took the Celexa I really needed it to pull me out of the slump. It will be a daily struggle just like MS to sometimes stay on top. Just as I have to keep track daily on my calendar my vitamins and MS drug therapy, I need to be aware of what brings on my depression. (at least those things I can control) Also!! ...When it takes me more effort on those days to stay on top, I need to remember that I am not any less a person because I have to work hard at it.
To me Celexa is a quick fix just as other drugs are. Change your life style. Slow down and sit in the sun!
This positiveness can come and go but it is something "I Choose" to work at. It is work! JS

I WAS ON ZESTRIL- I WAS FINE . I DIDN'T HAVE THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS TILL THE INSURANCE COMPANY MADE ME TAKE THE LISINOPRIL.THEY SAID IT WAS CHEAPER. SOOOO..LOOK WHO SUFFERS. I HAVE BEEN OFF LISINOPRIL FOR 3 DAYS NOW - I FEEL MUCH BETTER. WE NEED TO CHECK OUT WHAT THE DOCTORS PRESCRIBE BEFORE WE TAKE THESE PRESCRIPTIONS.
