I thank God for sending me to this site. I am a 47 year old female taking 20 mg. a day I have been on Lisinopril for probably 6 months. And that is about how long my throat has been scratchy with no relief and causing me to cough all the time. I am also very hoarse. I thought maybe I had throat cancer or something but it sounds like I may have found my answer. I will be getting with my doctor and switching meds. Thanks everyone God Bless all of You.

Okay, I got off this Drug after talking to my doctor. If you are getting the cough get off of it. Contact your Doctor ASAP because it only gets worst . In my case it was really bad. They script it because it cheap.

Someone, please tell me how long this coughing will last! I took Lisinopril for 4 weeks. During that time I had many of the same symptoms that I'm reading now, but didn't realize what was causing them. But after 3 weeks of a constant dry cough that led to gagging more often than not and cough attacks every hour on the hour even at night, I turned to the Internet to research tickling coughs. I too was sure I had throat cancer after experiencing lung cancer just a year ago. After reading all of these experiences from all of the people on this site, I was relieved yet furious. I called to inform my doctor of the side effect of the coughing that was keeping me from going anywhere but work (I'm a teacher so you can imagine how difficult that is). I was consuming 10 - 15 cough drops a day and night which was not helping my weight issue. She prescribed Toprol which I researched and read that it should not be taken if you have had a history of lung issues. Needless to say, I'm not going to take that either. My blood pressure is pre-hypertension so I believe I can control that myself with exercise and diet. It's been 5 days since I stopped taking the Lisinopril and the coughing has not subsided at all. I was up every hour on the hour last night and that was with taking a sleep aid.

I began to experience difficulty swallowing followed by hiccups which felt like my throat was closing up. Couldn't figure out what it could be, I was afraid I might have throat cancer. Then I realized that I started having problems swallowing when I began taking Move Free. Stopped taking Move Free and the problem disappeared.

I too was prescribed this horrible medication. I was to the point where I thought I had lung cancer or throat cancer. The coughing was horrible. I am a Supervisor and every time I talked to one of my workers I would break out in this horrible cough. I also had the night sweats, horrible dreams and weakness. Thank God for this website. I stopped taking this poison two weeks ago and the coughing is starting to subside, along with the weakness and fatigue. I will never take this medication again. Thanks for the website and the wonderful postings. I think if I had continued on this drug it would have killed me. Sherry in FL

Ok so I have been taking lisinopril since July 20th, against the advice of my husband who is an RN. He said the side effects were hell and had long term effects. I however was convinced that my physician new better. I have had the weird dreams, night sweats, nausea, horible abdominal cramps. This mornig I woke up with a swollen face, severely swollen tounge to the point I could not swollow and was drooling. My lymph nodes and neck swollen as well. Needless to say we went right to the hospital before I stopped breathing. When I told the doctor what I was taking he said to immediately stop it, as it was a rare side effect of the lisinopril. GREAT Something to cure me almost killed me. After a cortisone shot and a week of prednisone I should be back to normal. Im going to listen to my husband now, eat less salt and excercise more. I am on Lisinopril 10mg I break the tab in half take it morn and night, also I am on Hydrochlorot 12.5mg once a day.
I have been having a cough, dizzyness, tiredness, knee pain and I have no control of wetting myself when I cough. for some time now. I have been on this stuff for a year. I went to the Doctor the 14th of Nov. only to find that my Triglycerides are out of the roof my Cholesterol is up and I have high blood sugar. My blood preasure is good though.
I watch what I eat very closley. I am a bit over weight 60#'s.
I have been on the web for 3 hours now checking out these problems well Hydrochlorot causes the Triglycerides, Cholesttrol and the blood sugar to go up. Then I find this web site stating all the problems that Lisinopril causes I am having some of the same problems as the rest of you.
I am not going to take any more of this poison. I am going to go the natural way. I found on www.rxomega3.com some information about Lowering Triglycerides the stuff is called OMACOR (omega-3-acid ethyl esters) it is FDA approved which means nothing to me. Your Doctor can prescribe it for you.
Thank you for all the information you all have shared about this drug. My husband and I do alot of the natural ways in the first place but I feel I was scared into taking these drugs.
I am just going to put my trust in the Lord from now on he is the doctor and the healer. He healed my Husband of Mastatic Prostate Cancer this year.

I had a sudden increase in BP that I associated with situational stress. I'm a smoker not having much success with quitting. Been on Lisinopril for 2 weeks now and am experiencing the fatigue and lightheadedness and mild nausea. I am also experiencing what seems to be nodules in my throat which are spooking me a bit. Thoughts go to throat cancer but my mind runs away with me. Am taken care of by VA doctor but don't think his concern is thourough. 5mg of lisinopril daily. Where are the positive effects?

Dry tickle cough. Thought I might have lung or throat cancer!
Unexplained sudden weight loss. Can't mention medications to primary physician or to a second opinion doctor; they defend each other and refuse to consider the side effects of their prescriptions. Surely they must receive kick-backs from the drug companies in addition to perks such as lavish dinners! So frustrated! I'm so thin now I don't have a speck of reserve in case of sickness.

Please check your heading "Site Effect". Should it be SIDE Effect?
