I got sick on 1/21 I went to the doctor, I was starting to see yellow phlegm every morning for the past 3 days. The next day I was really messed up. My chest started to hurt and I was all congested, accompanied by lots of phlegm and loss of appetite. I called the doctor and she ordered amoxicillin because it works better for me. She wanted to order zpack, but I was reluctant because in the past I have gotten yeast infections from taking it. I felt worst with the asthma, chest congestion that I just wanted immediate relief. By the 3rd day, my throat irritation began, so I went to the emergency room. They order zpack and prednisone and as a precaution gave me a pill for a yeast infection. I started both meds and by the 4th day, the chest congestion was clearing and it was the first day I started feeling a bit better. I went back to the doctor, but I went back and still needed a treatment in the office. I was making a turn for the best. I finished the zpack on Friday and by Saturday, I was noticing a tinge of pain in my left side on Saturday. By Sunday, this pain was constant and stabbing accompanied by a yeast infection. The pill did not clear it up completely yet. Monday, the pain on my left side was unbearable, so I took a Tylenol which had no effect. So I went to the Emergency Room again and now they did an exam, touched my side and ran a ct scan, chest xray and blood test.

Get this, the results showed that I have gallstones on the right which were not causing my pain, a UTI and possibly passed a kidney stone. They gave me morphine and a nausea pill. Ultimately, they said they do not know what was causing my pain, so they gave me levaquin for the UTI and hydrocodine for the pain. I know the UTI came from not drinking enough fluids, but I would like to know where this pain is coming from. For Tuesday and Wednesday after leaving the ER, I could not use the bathroom with a bowel movement. I took a laxative today and used it fine this afternoon, Now my right ear feels like I have to swallow to open it. but the pain is still there and without the hydrocodine, it is unbearable. I have never had gallstone, kidney stones or pain like this. I called the doctor today and will see the doctor on Friday. This pain is unbearable, but the chest congestion, throat irritation are all gone. Why are the side effects so severe for a medication that seems to heal immediately.

Hi, I am a 67 year old male and I am glad I found these testimonies. I have been taking Lisinopril 5mg for over a year now and after reading all this you bet I'll stop taking it right away. My symptoms are pretty much the same as all of yours. Last night I had the worst episode, I started feeling a sharp and pounding headache which made me cry, along with memory loss, nausea, and my pressure was way up high. I really wasn't aware that this medication can make so much harm to your health, no wonder I felt so sick ever since I've been taking it. My symptoms are bloated belly, fatigue, weight gain, nauseas, hartburn, throat irritation, headaches, tiredness, sleeping problems, reflux and pressure in my chest. I hope all of this stops once I've discontinued this venom. This week I'll be seeing my primary doctor and we'll see what else she'll prescribe me,but I'll be sure to check it out first in the internet before I start taking it.

I suffer from chronic gastritis, not diarrhea, just inflammation, have taken this for sinus and upper respiritary infection. 250mg four times a day. It has helped me with alleviating the constant constipation I suffer from, but it has really made my gastritis worse, to the extent that I am having throat irritation through acid reflux now! Also felt shaky and weak about an hour after each dose, and so very tired, overwhelmingly tired and weak. Have completed the course, but would not wish to take again. I can't have Penicillin drugs because of allergy. VERY IMPORTANT, I was on a statin pill (Lipitor) and was told my the pharmacist to watch for muscle problems, after first day on EM my leg muscles seized up and were cramping badly, I stopped the statin for the duration of the antibiotic. If you are on statins, beware.

I've been on Hydrochlorothiazide for hypertension and it didn't get the numbers down low enough, so my doctor added Lisinopril. I have had the deep throat irritation and cough for weeks. I happened to forget to take my meds this morning and didn't remember until I was on the bus going to work. I'm now about four hours late for my meds and the cough has nearly disappeared. I will definitely not continue to take the drug.

I was on Advair for almost three weeks. Within the first few days, I thought it was helping. Then I started having really bad problems with acid reflux, throat irritation/hoarseness, a dry cough, need for nearly constant throat clearing, and tightness in the throat. It also seemed like the Advair was getting less effective in helping my breathing. I ended up going to a asthma specialist. In addition to asthma, I found out I may also have this other condition called Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD). VCD is commonly mistaken for asthma as the symptoms and triggers are very similar. Also, there is a fairly high rate of co-occurance with asthma and some literature even suggests having asthma predisposes one for developing VCD (having GERD and allergic rhinitis also appear to be triggers). In one study, 56% of individuals with "severe" asthma were found to also have this condition. Another 10% were found to not even have asthma. The point in talking about all this is that I think in my case taking Advair significantly exacerbated my symptoms of VCD. M y doctor's response was to put me on prednisone when the Advair didn't work. It seems like lots of people posted concerns about similar side effects to mine and some even noted they were having more trouble breathing. They might want to look into this condition. Slight throat irritation and nausea, but mostly EXTREME FATIGUE accompanied by slight irritability. Whether the emotional stress is a result of the medication or the fatigue, who knows, but what's the difference? This was on 150mg per day just before bed. 75mg seemed to get rid of most of the side effects but it naturally wasn't as effective. But still, give a lower dose a shot if you don't like the side effects, it may work for you.

hi all..i had taken yasmin in jan this year (only for a month). then becoz of the side effects i stopped. first month after stopping was ok, the next month my periods came abt 2 weeks late and i started getting a feeling that something was stuck in my throat and throat felt dry. i used to feel the same when i was on yasmin. meanwhile when i was on yasmin my doc thought my throat irritation was related to acid reflux so she made me do a upper gi series which turned out to be normal. since the time my last period was late some of the side effects that i had on yasmin seem to be slowly coming back(not with the same intensity though)
anyone has any suggestions?
i also had severe eye twitches but that went off after i started taking multivitamin and minerals pill everyday.

I've been using Advair 250/50 for about 4 years now. I never had any trouble with it until this year. My throat is so irritated all the time. One way to avoid thrush is to rinse your mouth 2 or 3 times after using the Advair. I have always done this, but lately my throat is really irritated. Went to ENT and after scoping my throat he said everything looked fine...put me on antibiotics for a week, but did not help. I believe it's the Advair. There are some good natural remedies out there to help with throat irritation. Look in a health food or whole foods store.

Occasional hoarseness

Foot Pain leg pain

Nausea or hunger pangs sudden and painful

Heartburn

Bloated stomach but I eat 3 garlic cloves a day so not too sure if Advair is culprit

throat irritation

Have been using the 100 and 250 at one puff a day for year and a half

Excellent control of asthma but the side effects are not worth it. Will consider alternative, perhaps holistic approach.

Started taking Advair this past May. Initially I was on the Advair 500, then was lowered down to the 250 about a month later. The Advair definitely seemed to help prevent asthma attacks. For the first time in years I was able to sleep through the night without having to use any sort of medication (had been using Primatine Mist every night, then was prescribed Albuterol in May). Then in early June I began to notice that I was my voice was constantly hoarse and that I was always having some throat irritation. Got to the point where the hoarseness was so severe that I was unable to speak for several days. Even dropping down to the Advair 250 dosage has failed to prevent the constant hoarseness. Have now stopped taking the Advair. Last used my Advair diskus two weeks ago and will never use it again, based on some of the reports I'm reading on here. Also have been getting strange, red, acne-like bumps on my upper arms for the past month and suspect it may be Advair-related.

This is an additional comment to ershry's question since I am the daughter to which the question refers to. Not only has this rash steadily worsened throughout the past few years, I am now having random chest pains, and it feels as if I have something stuck in the top of my throat and along the tonsils. The doctor says that these new symptoms might be related to the GI tract since I am taking prednisone to keep the rash semi-under control, but it sounds as if numerous people have these symptoms without any other cortisones.

For the people who have been stuck on advair for a while, have you noticed a pattern to how the side effects occur? I started with a rash on my face and neck that has now spread all over my entire body, then severe, debilitating calf pain that the doctor wrote off as shin splints, then the throat irritation, and now the chest pains.

My 12 year old daughter went to the emergency room today with severe hives, joint inflamation, throat irritation, swelling in hands and feet. The doctors felt this was an adverse reaction to one dose of tessalon.

I am a 69 year old with elevated cholesterol (280). I have been on 20 mg Zocor for 27days. It seems to have effected my sleeping pattern, some headaches, throat irritation, and most recently soreness in my calves and feet area. Normally I could be on my feet for hours at a time with no problem, but not now. I have several friends who are on Lipitor with no reported problems. I felt great before starting Zocor, so plan to talk to my Dr. about either stopping or switching.
