60 yr old/young female: I started generic toprol (metoprolol 50mg xr) yesterday (11/22/07). Took about 3:00 PM. The next morning around 6:00 AM, I had a hot flash that equated to one you would have if you had taken niacin. Body was burning and I was sweating. Looked in the mirror to see if I was flushed, because of the severity of the hot flash I thought my body would be totally red. It wasn't. I called my pharmacist to report this event. He researched and found no evidence of such. He did say that it did not rule out the possibility that it was caused by the Toprol. Asked me to keep him posted as his customers were the ones that helped him be able to report side effects to other. Well I found this site and low and behold I have read of the hot flashes and all of the other problems. I will not be taking this medication. I am not a pro medication person anyway and related that to my dr, but at some point you feel you have to have trust in someone. I don't trust medications. I know at some point in my life I will probably have to take something, but not Toprol. Sounds as though it will cause more problems than it will cure. Thanks so much for your input. It will prevent me from having to wean myself off this mess. Oh yeah, I was also feeling the depressed, anxiety mentioned. Not at a high level , but just knew I wasn't myself. That was after just one dose. I can't imagine how it would have progress. I feel very blessed.

I was treated with lamictal for bi-polar II . It did help even out my mood which swung to deep depressions and rare (unfortunately) hypomania. After an increase in dose I had so much pain in my back and hip joints that I needed help to sit down, stand up, tie shoes, lift anything. I am only 40!
I stopped the med in June, but the pain is still there. Continually, not as bad as it was before, for sure, but I still have to prop myself up for simple lean over tasks, and my hip joints throb. I have to support myself to flip in bed or get out. I was doing yoga, and running as well before I started lamictal. I was extremely flexible!, and now can still barely touch my toes.
has anyone else had this lingering pain?

Ihave been taking levaquin for 9 days for the last week I have experienced severe aching in my feet and up my calves, I have trouble sleeping at night because my feet and legs throb all night! In the morning it is a little better and then it starts all over again all day long. I had one day left of my medicine, when I found this website, I will not take any more. I advise other people do not take this medication!!!! Thanks for all the info from everyone on this website.

I am a young 30-something, active, organic-healthy female with unfortunately high (genetic) cholesterol levels (250ish). I have no other health issues and I have never been on any long-term medication. One month ago I was put on my first drug: Lipitor. I was thrilled the first week I had no side effects. As a matter-of-fact, I told my mother it was like taking nothing. Into week two, suddenly, I couldn't lift my arm to put on mascara without it cramping up. My legs began to throb when I used my muscles or lifted my children. It was so incredibly bad by week 3, I stopped taking the drug and a whole week has had to pass before the symptoms disappeared. I blindly followed my doctors recommendation and am frightened to take the next round of drugs to "test" on my body. I think I better do more research on other alternatives, as degenerated muscles, nor heart attacks/strokes appeal to me.

increased heart rate -from 83 to 91 beats per minute. My heart pounds so hard & fast that I can feel it in my chest & feel a throb in my neck and ears. This causes great difficulty sleeping -wake up over and over! Have to take a sedative & even this, which used to do the trick, now only partially works.

I am a 43 year old female who, until I found this site, thought I was dying of bone cancer - I am not even kidding. I just finished the last of my 10 day prescription for Avelox (for bronchitis and sinusitis). And I feel like I have been beaten about the head and body. Honestly, every part of my body aches and I can barely walk. I have absolutely no energy; throbbing and shooting pains up and down my arms and legs. Not to mention sharp pains in my chest area periodically. I have very clouded and unclear thinking abilities; and my neck and head hurt so bad not even an 800 mg ibuprofen helps. Oh and let's not forget the chills which are right down to the bone - I cannot get warm and I have yucky night sweats to boot. I would most certainly be interested in a class action lawsuit. I really hate that I took 10 days worth and wonder when I will start feeling better. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE AVELOX - it is not worth the painful side effects! The prescription flyer I received with the medication did not mention any of the side effects I encountered.
