I had Mirena inserted on Feb 9, 09. My period started on Feb 15, 09.....and it hasn't stopped! It is MUCH lighter than before but annoying! I am told this is normal for some women and that it can take anywhere from 3-6 months to regulate. My plan has been to wait that time period and see what happens. I have also experienced crazy mood swings around PMS time. I am definitely attributing those to Mirena. It's the first form of birth control I have had since 1998. I have always been a fairly calm person with very mild PMS symptoms. Since having Mirena inserted, my mood swings have been quite impulsive. I'm like a ticking time bomb and it really is not fair to my children. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm also experiencing the bloating, fatigue, increased hair loss, and inability to lose weight. I don't know that I can attribute the inability to lose weight completely to Mirena at this point as I am only 4 months postnatal and still breastfeeding. Also, with the hair loss, I don't think that is Mirena either. Pregnant women do not lose much hair. Since it is normal to lose x amount of hair on a daily basis, the increase for me may simply be due to hormones trying to regulate once again.

My nine year old son started on Singulair about a year ago. Over the last several months, we've noticed his anxiety/anger level rise tremendously. He's always been a sensitive/serious kid and so we attributed it to our talking about moving. However, we're a pretty stable family (not perfect, but happy) and couldn't figure out why it was affecting him so badly. He was a ticking time bomb, exploding on everyone at random times. Then he began chewing on the skin of his thumbs and eventually all over the palms of his hands...a big chewed up mess. He said he did it because he was nervous. It was extreme and scary. Then a friend of mine happened to mention in passing about the Singulair reports. We've decided to take him off the meds and see if it makes a difference. I'll let you know what comes of it.

I was prescribed 750 mg of Levaquin for a skin infection after a minor burn. On the third day I noticed flashing lights in my right eye and the next day I felt as though I was looking through a black lace curtain. It has now settled into a large thread like floater that is in my central vision. My eye doctor said it is a large vitreous tear which is permanent. I also had tinnitus and burning on my lips and tongue which stopped after I stopped the medication. Two weeks after stopping the meds, I was biking and lost my balance. I turned my ankle, not violently, but it resulted in ruptured tendons all around the ankle. Three days after that, my right shoulder began popping in and out of its socket. Each evening, I had a low grade fever and chills. I'd wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. I also had a rough eczema-like rash on my elbow and neck, however that has gone away. I'm sleeping better now and last night I did not have a fever or night sweats. My ankle is improving and I can now get through the day without having to take Advil. The shoulder is still popping when I extend my arm, but I'm hoping that will improve with time. So far, the only permanent damage seems to be the eye floater. It's annoying, but I'm adjusting. I'm planning to go back to the gym today, but honestly, I'm feeling like a ticking time bomb and I worry that new symptoms will continue to pop up. Has anyone out there been completely symptom free for any period of time? Has anyone discussed their case with an attorney?
