Tightness in the chest symptoms and conditions

In February of 2008 I took 8 capsules over a period of 14 days, The second day I had a hedache and tightness in the chest-abdomin area. Over the next 10 days the symptoms got worse and then my neck and upper back started hurting. I stopped taking the prevacid and started feeling better. Since then I have been waking up after about 2 hours sleep and my arms and across my back are very cold I have sharp pain in my shoulders and have labored breathing. I have been sleeping setting up and that has helped my acid reflux. But this coldness and aching in my arms and shoulders will not let me get very much rest. I still have acid reflux if I eat within 3 hours of bedtime and if I lay down.
I have also tried acupuncture for the shoulder pain , it helps for a day and then it is back. I am 65 and am getting old fast with this pain.

I was put on Loestrin24 Fe to control bleeding until such a time as I could have surgery. I took the first pill and started experiencing a sever mood swing right away. I became angry and depressed. My breast were tender. after a month the Anger and Depression were out of control. I was as hateful as I have ever been. My relationships were effected by my extremely negative attitude (which is completely out of character for me) and my sex drive well there was none. I suppose that is one method for birth control.... I started to notice fatigue, couldn't get out of bed had no energy, tightness in the chest and shortness of breath. Blood Clots...NOT FUN... NOT SAFE...

I noticed my old self returning almost immediately after stopping the pill. I don't think I cracked one smile the whole time I was on them. I am glad to be off and I will never take birth control again.

Please please if you are having sever symptoms. Shortness of breath and chest pains. DON'T WAIT to be TOLD to get off of them.... GET OFF OF THEM and GO to the ER immediately. YOU are talking about your LIFE...

I have used Aciphex for two days and have terrible side effects such as: tightness in the chest, irregular heart beats, anxiety, blurry left vision, difficulty in concentration at certain times and rapid heart beats. I am definitely planning to stop using this pill. This is getting so frustrating.

Some of you have even mentioned some things you can just buy off the pharmacy shelf. Remember, even those Flintstone's vitamins are drugs too. I picked just a couple of common medications that people may get for themselves or their kids. I know Amoxicillin is a prescription but I am sure it is very commonly used.

Hello, my name is Rob and I have been on Remicade for the past 5 years. I had a reaction to my first Infusion, shortness of breath and feeling flushed. They then added Benadryl to all future infusions and everything has been fine until this last infusion in April of 2008. Halfway into the infusion my face became flushed, the person adminisitering the Remicade said it was hives, this was accompanied by tightness in the chest and headache. They stopped the infusion, gave me some Benadryl added to the IV, that did not work, they then added Solu-Medrol 125MG into the IV and it seemed to reduce the effects of my reaction. The infusion was completed and I went home. Upon arriving home I looked quite pale until that night. My face became red, almost as if I spent too much time in the sun and I have had a headache followed by chest pains. This condition has continued into the next day but it does not feel severe enough to go to Emergency. Should I be concerned or will this pass? Is it possible that I have been on it so long that I am now building up a tolerance to it?

I have been on doxycycline for 6 days and talk about nausea, headaches, tightness in the chest and throat I am also contending with sore limbs almost flu like, also lots pf frothy mucus and a racing heart.
I have severe reflux normally but this drug is making it a nightmare.
depression is normal for me but now I am worried that is going to get worse.

Started Levaquin yesterday for Bronchitis. Today I started with episodes of Tachycardia, Tightness in the chest, and numbness and tingling in the hands,feet and face. I am a nurse and trust me I will make sure none of my patients leave the office I work at with a script for this class of medication. 1 DOSE WAS PLENTY FOR ME I'M THROWING OUT THE OTHER 9 PILLS ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On December 5th, I reported that, after stopping the Metoprolol, I was having some minor withdrawal symptoms. As an update, this week has not been good. I've had tightness in the chest, sleeping poorly and some gastric problems. It is now three weeks since the last dose. How long does it take to become symptom free?????

I have been off the Nuvaring for the first full cycle after being on it for about 20 months. I posted previously -- but went off because I was experiencing an increase in overall anxiety, including a tightness in the chest, night-time panic attacks, and more anxiety. I am feeling so much more normal now -- even though I did have PMS this month (which I didn't have as noticeably while on the nuvaring), but it felt normal and identifiable. My moods and emotions are easy to pin to an event (whereas I just felt this vague sense of uneasiness all the time before) and I'm so much more relaxed. A friend of mine recently went off for similar reasons, and is feeling better as well. Birth control definitely isn't as convenient as it was; however, my overall quality of life feels much improved.

A cardiologist prescribed Lisnopril 10mg for me three days ago because my BP was above 160/90 even though I was taking HCTZ. All day yestersday, I was extremely energyless. I went to the gym to see my trainer, but could not lift a finger to exercise. I feel like I have a fever, but I do not have one. I've had headache since yesterday. I slept 10 hours last night, but woke up still extremely tired and unable to function properly. I have dizziness, uneasiness, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest area, and I feel strain around my eyes. Today, I went to the emergency room, because I knew something was seriously wrong with my heart or that my blood count was low. There was nothing. After reviewing several postings on this site, I realize these are side effects of Lisinopril. As of today, I am off this. I wil see my physician on Monday. Hopefully, she will understand.

I have just come across this site, while looking to find out why I have been experiencing heart palpitations for the past two months - out of the blue!!! and usually "exercise" induced. I had some tests and have been told they are Premature Atrial Contractions "PACs". I started taking Yasmin in April, after having tried others over the past year (tri-cyclen lo and alesse) which did not work for me as the progestin was not strong enough. I am in my 40s and never took the pill before. Yasmin was great, it significantly reduced my "physical" pms (severe inflamation, severe bloating, severe sore breasts) which I experience for 2-3 weeks a month. However, sometime in mid to late June, I started getting palpitations/tremors out of the blue. The first episode freaked me out and lasted for about two weeks. At first I thought it was allergy medication mixed with my thyroid med, which can happen - but I cut out the allergy meds and still got them. They seem to come about 6hrs to a day after I fexercise/figure skate and they last from 2 to 5 five days. It's very irritating and nerve wracking, and I feel very agitated. I am also out of breath more than usual when walking up stairs, a little light headed and have some tightness in the chest. My legs also are weak, which makes no sense given my exercise regimen. I then lowered my thyroid replacement from .125 synthroid to .100 - too much thyroid med can cause some palpitations. Anyone who has mistakenly taken a second thyroid pill having forgotten that they already took one will understand. Even with the lower dose I am still getting the palpilations. I am totally at a loss as to why all of a sudden this is happening to me (perhaps perimenopause??). I have had the odd flutter here and there in my live, but nothing like this. It just doesn't make any sense ag ll. Can one's health just change like this overnight?. I am otherwise healthy, slim, have "lower" blood pressure (apprx 100-90/70-60)I skate 3 to 5 times a week, I have a full time job and yes I do push myself, but this is getting ridiculous. The only thing I can attribute it to is the Yasmin, ... but my symptoms only started after a few months not instantly, whereas it would seem that most of the the women here noticed the side effects faster. I hate to stop the Yasmin because I will have to return to pms "hell", but I suppose I will give it a try to see if the palpitations subside. At this point, I have been offered a low dose "beta blocker" and have refused. I am stunned to think that all of a sudden I have heart issues, especially since my Dr has always kidded me my that I will never have heart problems with my blood pressure. I will stop the Yasmin tonight and post another message in a few weeks one it is out my system. Here's hoping it is the Yasmin.

I just finished week 2 of Yasmin and the side effects hit me hard about 3 days ago! Anxiety, heart palpitations, moody, tired, nauseous, headache, did I say moody? My appetite is out of control too! I will not be continuing with this pill. Thank goodness I found this site, as well as another forum - Otherwise, I would have chalked it up to stress in general (I'm a SAHM of 3 children). It got so bad today, I thought about going to the ER!

Can Lisinopryl cause insomnia? I have been experiencing insomnia, panic attacks, difficulty breathing and tightness in the chest for over a year. I am 67 years old and switched from Diovan which I loved. The switch was made because my health plan took the Diovan off their preferred list and my doctor prescribed Lisinopryl as an alternative. I don't like it. I suspect this drug has caused my insomnia for which I am now taking Lunesta at $50 a whack. I first took Ambien CR and it made me so nauseated I couldn't eat (like pregnancy) and I lost 8 pounds in a month. Also my breathing feels very cold when I inhale. Ideas will be appreciated. Laura

Feeling as though I was having a HEART ATTACK! I am an active triathlete who gets a cold once a year. After a bout with the flu the doctor decided that my blood pressure had been too high for too long (160/104 on that visit, which I have to agree was high, and in the same range for about a year prior). I started the medication on a Monday and on Wednesday morning I thought I was having a Heart Attack.

Severe Chest Pain (feeling as though a rubberband was wrapped around my chest)
Muscle soreness in my chest
Irregular heart beatc
Dry Mouth
Sweats
Numbness in arms

After 3 EKG's they found the heart to be fine. Found a mass on my liver through the Ultrasound and MRI (which turned out to be a Hemagioma and is normal, whatever that means, in 30 to 40 year old women)

The doctor failed to tell me that Lisinopril could cause "muscular/skeletal pain" Oh my...

They wanted to change my medication to Corvasc and when I read the side affects of that I decided to stay on this evil drug.

Now I just have:

Constant tightness in the chest
dry cough
Severe exhaustion
Depression

Is this worth it? I already eat right, exercise and am the proper weight, so I am looking for homeopathic solution to this issue and getting off this crud. Any suggestions please post?????

I've been on Doxycyclene for 2 weeks now. I was trying to get rid of my acne. I've vomited twice. (The likelihood of this increases when there's very little food in the tum)Before I vomited, I'd feel like I was having a heart attack. A sudden tightness in the chest, breathing became difficult, a depression that felt like the end of the world. All eventually leading up to vomiting. My acne hasn't witnessed much improvement either. Either it doesn't suit me or I haven't been taking it properly.

after thinking back i was started on privivil if spelled correctly then switched to lisinipril and was on it longer than six years,
after finding this site i have been off a liitle over two months
i have now can actually say i am beginning to feel like my old self, the tightness in the chest has slowly gone away i don't sleep all hours of the day like i did,i was lucky on the cough
i only got it when it was enough of anything to start it then i felt like i was throwing my inside out.I am very glad for this site also the joint pain is gone I can bend down now and get up without the pain jsut about all the symptoms that i have read I did have except the cough and I don't really know how long it takes to purge the body of this toxic pill but i have been off a little ovewr two and a half months or so and am not completely rid of it.

I ALSE EXPERIENCED TIGHTNESS IN THE CHEST, TO THE POINT WHERE I ACTUALLY STOPPED BREATHING. ANOTHER IS THE JOINT PAIN IN MY RIGHT SHOULDER, ELBOW AND FINGERS.

My husband had an allergic reaction to some dust he inhaled and had minor tightness in the chest. His allergist and pulmonogist put him on Advair and he went straight downhill from there. He complained about side effects and expressed his desire to live drug free and the Drs insisted Advair was safe and get used to it because you will be taking it for the rest of your life. After 4 pulmonogists and worsening asthma he finally read REversing Asthma by Firshein and got off the ADvair. He is drug free for 4 months and his breathing tests were better today than 4 months ago when he was on ADvair.
Going off advair saved his life and our marriage. His side-effects included:

Shortness of breath
Lethargy - he stopped working out regularly
Insomnia
Anger - rages - he would burst into rages
Body aches
Forget fullness - he was once driving and couldnt remember the way home!!
And once he said he said he was sleeping and he thought the house exploded and he awoke to realize it was a "popping sound" in his head when he was asleep. He was glad to be alive but he never took Advair again after this one.

My side effects are the same as athena86 #19149. I was on it for only ten days, but it was hard to eat food, then I wanted to burb but couldn't then nausa and cramps for two hours and tightness in the chest. A sweet taste always in my mouth. (Is that yeast?) The result is that I can't get much done because after two hours it is time to eat again. I have been trying to space my eating as widely as possible. How do we get rid of this stuff and how can they sell it. Someone said it was the same as "speed."

Have been on Toprol 25 mg for almost a year, and prior to that was at 50mg for about two years, prescribed for fast heart rate/benign palpitations and also for boderline high BP. Worked fine for BP and palpitations, but six months ago, BP went high again, so now on Diovan low dose and still Toprol 25 mg. Anyway, Diovan has fixed the BP. The most major side effect with TOPROL I believe is the cause for my shortness of breath. I have now began weaning myself off of the Toprol (with ok from Cardiologist) and hope to see an improvement with the SOB....it's been terrible. I get short of breath just talking on the phone, and I do not smoke. I'm hopeful that the symptoms will improve one my body is clear of the Toprol. Anybody else experience SOB from Toprol?

I started taking Lisinopril about three months ago. I already have been taking Metroprolol, HCTZ, Paxil and Avandia. The Lisinopril gave me swollen, red, watery eyes; a persistent cough that gets so bad I puke; tightness in the chest and shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. My doctor keeps telling me it's all in my head, but I know it's not, I feel a lot worse than I did so I'm changing doctors. There has to be a better alternative.

In reading through everyone's posts, I feel better about my side effects, but it's really SAD that the doctors all think it's in our heads!

For the last six months, I have been attributing my aches and pains to getting older. Boy, was I wrong! Ever since I was a small child, my asthma kept me imprisoned in oxygen tents early on in life. One month after taking Advair, and continuing for the next five months, I started to experience horrific cramps in my calves and toes (while laying in bed trying to sleep), constant headaches, tightness in the chest area, constant pains in my stomach on both sides, joint pains, sneezing spells, occasional runny nose, diarrhea, thrush, difficulty in speaking after 3-4 minutes, raspy voice, depression, fatigue, tired all the time, frequent urination, mood swings, pain in shoulders, back & neck, short term memory, weight gain around the stomach, tingling sensations from the top of both arms down to the fingertips, and malaise.
I just looked at the long, extensive paper insert that comes with the Advair Diskus, and NOWHERE, does it mention anything about side effects, nor did my doctor state that there were potentially, hazardous side effects. As of today, I have stopped all prescriptions cold turkey! No more Advair, Proscar, Zyrtec, or Rhinocort Aqua! I refuse to be victimized by the pharmaceutical companies any longer. I'm going back to the good old Albuterol only when needed. My brother is a Pharmacist, and said that it takes just less than a week to eliminate the mentioned drugs from your system. I have come to the conclusion that there is a special place in HELL for the people who glorify the Pharmaceutical Marketing to the public. If you have an Advair Diskus in your possession, I strongly recommend that you burn it and pray for forgiveness. While you're at it, you might want to say a silent prayer for the Pharmaceutical Companies, because they are going to need it!

During my early years, I was more less raised in an oxygen tent. I have been taking Advair for the last six months. After the first month, I starting getting horrific cramps in my calves and toes during the night, constant headaches, tightness in the chest, constant stomach pains on both sides, joint pains, sneezing, runny nose, diarrhea, thrush, difficulty in speaking after 2-4 minutes, depression, fatigue, tired all the time, mood swings, pain in my shoulders, neck & back, short term memory, weight gain around the stomach, and tingling sensations down the arms to the fingertips. I just looked at the long, extensive insert that comes with the Advair Diskus, and NOWHERE does it mention anything about side effects, nor did my doctor mention that there were potential side effects. As of today, I have stopped Advair cold turkey! I just spoke to my brother who is a Pharmacist, and he said it would take less than a week for this poison eliminated from my bloodstream. I plan on just going back to my old faithful albuterol. At least this way, I will regain my life back. We as a society have become victimized by the television drenched marketing scam of the drug entities. I have come to the conclusion that there will be a special place in HELL for them. So, say a prayer for them, cuz they're gonna need it!

tightness in the chest and extreme pain in left shoulder. I have encountered blurred vision on several occasions. A complete lack of stamina accompanied by depression for which I on paxil for but this medicine has exaserbated my depression. I would like to know if there is a correlation between the interaction of these drugs

I have only taken 3 Tablets so far, and I am having flu like symptoms and joint pain in my body. I am also experiencing tightness in the chest, bloated feeling, vaginal itch, headache, and a pain in the middle of my abdomen. I was give this medication for a bladder infection.
