Just hope that you don't end up like me and many other people with no health insurance and the doctor telling you your IUD has to be surgically removed because the strings have disintegrated. And before they refer you to surgery they will try to remove the IUD anyways with a hook while opening your cervix.....and let me add you will be given no anesthesia, your legs and arms will go numb and you will scream because it is the worst pain ever. And then you will finally blackout because you can no longer handle the pain and when you wake up you have to be driven home and put to bed because you cant find your composure for the rest of the evening. And it really sucks having to fork over $3000 to the hospital to have surgery when you have no insurance and cannot be insured due to pre-existing conditions.
I have not had the surgery yet, and will keep you all updated..... but does anyone know if we have a case for a lawsuit here?? I'm wondering if we could all get in on filing one. The Mirena has ruined my marriage, ruined my self-worth, ruined my body, given me anxiety to no limit, and now is costing me nothing but time and money with trips back and forth for 2 months now to the doctor and hospital just to try and have it removed.

I absolutely hate this thing. I have had 2 ob's recommend this thing to me instead of me having my tubes tied. They made it sound like it's wonderful and will save lots of money in the long run. Months ago I started having really bad back pain, so bad I can't bend over to pick something up. I saw my family doctor and he ordered an X-Ray. Nothing came of it. I went and saw my ob and she checked the IUD's placement and examined me and came up with nothing. A few weeks ago I noticed sharp and at times severe pelvic cramping and burning. I went to my family doctor who ordered a CT scan with contrast. He discovered that I have an enlarged ovary. Next I had to have a pelvic ultrasound and I learned that I have an ovarian cyst. All that time and money for a cyst!!!! After telling my ob everything my family doctor had discovered, she thinks I should take the pill. I cannot believe all the time and money I've spent on this darn thing, only to find that NOW I should take the pill. If anyone is reading this forum to decide whether or not she should get this thing.... the only advice I have is to save up lots of money because you're going to need it. I have spent 4,000.00 on unnecessary testing on things that I thought were serious health problems, but were nothing more than side effects. I wanted this thing to be removed months ago but my ob insisted that I wait just a little longer. Now, I'm stuck with a bill for thousands of dollars and it's all because of this damn thing. Wish I would've went to Planned Parenthood... they would've removed it for $150.00, but at least I wouldn't have been out $4000.00!!!

My story started about a year and a half ago. I got my first kenalog injection for ORAL LICHEN PLANUS and was told that it was safe enough to give to his own wife and kids and he convinced to take it. But little did i know that it was going to leave this huge dent in the top part of my right arm. The doctor said it would fill in but would take awhile. So in 4 months i went back for my second injection because it seemed to help my mouth but then strange things started to happen. I take blood pressure meds and have for 14 years and never had any problems until that second shot and my BP started to go up and down and i mean very low and very high. I went to my family doctor and he wanted to try other meds and i said no so he sent me to heart doctor and that was a waste of time and money. I just waited it out and in the mean time i stared to to drop a lot of weight and couldn't figure it out. Now it was time for third shot and by this time my weight started at 145lbs. is now 119lbs. The doctor said my problems are not from the shot. So my health started going down hill and my bp is now very high all the time and still losing weight. Guess what its time for fourth shot and i now weigh 109lbs. and i told myself no more shots because in the end every shot i took started to not help my mouth anymore. Well its been 5 months since my last shot and my bp is normal now and my weight is at 115lbs. I still have the dent in my arm. This is a very dangerous drug and i advise no one to try it. Someone needs to take it off the market. And before i forget- what it has did to me is i have very bad bone and joint aches but i hope in time it leaves and blurring vision and headaches everyday. I just want it out of my system.

I have been on nuvaring for about 14 days and have been spotting ever since my period ended. Today at work I got a sudden onset of really debilitating lower back pain and cant figure out what could have happened to cause it. My only relief comes from lying down or sitting. When I came home i started researching side effects for the ring and lower back pain didn't come up. However this site did and has helped me shed light on what i think is the problem. I'm left to wonder if this pain will subside after a complete 3 month cycle of taking it? Part of me just wants to take the darn thing out to prove the hypothesis correct. But I really have a hard time taking the pill. Very thankful that I found this site because it will probably save me time and money of going to the doctors and trying to figure out what the hecks wrong.

I am so mad at my doctor! i feel like he knew about the mood swings and just opted not to mention it! my entire life my friends and family have joked about how im always laughing and smiling no matter what is going on. i am a VERY happy person....i was just prescribed doxycycline for my acne and have only been on it for a couple weeks. i thought i was possibly having a pms problem but it just continued after i was off my period, i am so easily irritated now i find that i cry over nothing and cant seem to get over anything.this morning i got in a huge fight with my dad and was more livid than i ever have been in my entire life all over nothing!! and when i say nothing i mean NOTHING.i screamed at him and left my house and told him i wasn't coming home and not to call me or talk to me and then i drove around crying angrily and hysterically for 3 hours.my dad is practically my best friend we never ever fight.ive been losing sleep and having depressing thoughts about life and where mine is going.i just started college and im bummed cuz the meds are effecting my grades already(or so i think they are) i feel physically incapable of getting up in the morning and i have a hard time keeping up in the easiest dance class ever.i always have thoughts about how screwed up EVERYTHING is and my mom and i myself noticed that in the last week every time i call her its to complain about something and i get all choked up about whatever im talking about.now after reading about all these other people having issues with the meds im pretty pissed that my doctor didn't give me any options.if u plan on going to the dermatologist for acne i would recommend mentioning what you've read about this drug before they waste your time and money.life is too short for this crap...seriously.

I have severe allergies and cronic sinusitis... like a lot of people on here I have taken all the allergy drugs they make for the past 9 years... Ive had tons of procedures done and sinus surgery last Feb '08. Nothing helps. Ive taken oral steriods many times but recently my new ENT decided to give me a Kenalog shot in Sept. Nothing was explained to me other than it was a steroid. The nurse put it in my left shoulder. I have had all the symptoms people are describing on here except the indent. I have been progressively getting sicker and feeling worse and worse over the past few months. I feel like I could go to bed and just stay there. Now this past Monday he gave me another Kenalog shot in my left shoulder. I heard something on a tv show that it causes depression so I jumped on this site and feel sick about all the messages I have read about people's terrible side effects. I feel like my doctor who I trusted let me down. I am so worried that my shoulder is going to have a big grey dent like everyone is describing on here. I am just so tired of being ill.

I just got a very condescending private message from a doctor on this site who said that while my articles from Europe are very helpful that I don't know what I am talking about and that I could mislead the public. Then I see how many parents and patients got a condescending attitude from their own doctors.

Well the public has been mislead but it is not my fault. I don't see any experts in this field stepping up to the plate to acknowledge that these side effects exist, have been reported by authorities in other countries, and that these experts are interested in learning why they are happening. This is an extremely widely prescribed medication that involves the lives of millions.

Merck's research director was quoted as saying that they know of no mechanisms by which these side effects could be related to psychiatric adverse drug reactions. That was a flat out LIE. So what if I quoted you a research article from China that was very complicated and yes, could possibly be misinterpreted by somebody? I just needed to give you an example. The only expert so far that had the guts to give you a truthful statement was Dr. J. Douglas Bremner. Thankfully, he corrected a misunderstanding about saying that it was "unclear."

I hope that we will all hang in there and something will be said by somebody, anybody on this site that will make the FDA listen and investigate Singulair (montelukast) all the way back to the very original studies done in test tubes not on people. And, then take a new look at it from the standpoint of what we now know about human genetics. I guess I will keep repeating myself about one size does not fit all.

I would also PRAY that all clinical studies on Singulair (montelukast) would be suspended until the FDA decides why these side effects occur. And that they would issue a statement to doctors to make conservative decisions regarding treatment with Singulair until the results of the investigation have been reported.

I hope that nobody thinks that I am trying to mislead anyone. The answers are either unknown or being hidden by Merck. How would I know the answers? I don't work for Merck. How many other people are out there trying to translate articles in foreign languages to see what's going on? American doctors are calling Merck and being assured that there is nothing to these claims.

I wonder how many experts there are that just don't want to be another Jeffrey Wigand or don't know what is wrong?

I know that I am ranting but somebody should do it.

My daughter had an appointment with a gastrointestinal doctor this morning because of her stomach problems. (She has been off of Singulair 10 days now and ALL symptoms- leg pains, abdominal pain, dizziness, sensitivity to light, severe mood swings, depression, anxiety, severe tantrums have all vanished) We kept the appointment with GI because our physician advised us to. He found it hard to believe that Singulair could be the cause of all of her symptoms. Well the GI also found it hard to believe that Singulair was the cause but said, "The proof is in the pudding." I have filed a complaint with the FDA on medwatch.com. It was very easy. I have also asked the doctor to file one as well. I also gave the doctor a printout of the studies done. Hopefully with more and more people filing complaints the FDA will act quickly. There is so much indisputable evidence regarding adverse reactions. It is unbelievable how many stories sound just alike. So many children have lost years of their life due to this drug. Parents have spent so much time and money trying to figure out what is "wrong" with their child. It is a shame so many have been incorrectly labeled all because of a drug they were taking!!

So I started taking YASMIN in December 07. I switched to YAZ in January 08 and just quit a week ago. So about 4 months of bc. A week ago, I broke out in hives and rashes. I would itch one spot and then others would form. The areas get hot and the welts raise up my skin. It started when I was out in the sun but it couldn't have been sun poisoning because I never got burnt. I am diagnosing myself rather than a doctor because they do NOT know everything. After reading into the YAZ and YASMIN side effects, I am not risking anymore problems. Oh and I got an upper respitory infection along with the rash. This lingering cough has a weaze and phligmy sound. My friends are concerned with it too. I have never been the type of person to suffer from any major sickness or skin problem. I am tough skinned and have never gotten any kind of food allergy. I am 24, 5'6'' and in semi-athletic shape. I am an actor and model and I cannot afford to get rashes and a bad horsey cough! YAZ was great for 2 months and now bam! Downfall happening. Temporary relief-cortozone cream and antihistamines like benadryl.
YAZ benefit-clear skin, no PMS
YAZ side effect-rash, no sex drive/libido loss, difficult/no orgasm, appetite like a hog! Food #1 thought. Packed on pounds quick.
YASMIN benefit-clear skin, lost weight quick
YASMIN side effect- a little loopy, speech impediment, no sex drive/libido loss, no orgasm, couldn't even fake an orgasm!

This method is just as unpleasant as the other methods I am sure. Unfortunately, this method did not work. Diarrhea did not start for over six hours. My colon was not cleared by 7:00 A.M. when they began the procedure. I was still having diarrhea as I arrived at the clinic. The test and agony were a waste of time and money. The colonoscopy results were inconclusive. This stuff is a joke. The doctor got his money and I got screwed. I will never again submit to this procedure after my experience with MoviPrep. Try something else instead.

My college age daughter was diagnosed with allergies and asthma last winter. She had a series of allergy test and results were grasses, dust mites, mold, cats, dogs feathers. Her main complaint was shorness of breath during exercise, boxing and lately tennis. She is a very healthy young lady that played tennis, ate healthy and stayed away from pop and junk food. This sudden breathing issue is baftling. She was put on Singular and the lowest dose of Advair. For 9 months she has been taking these meds and they don't seem to help. What's more baffling is that 6 months ago she developed an eye irritation, itching, swelling and redness of the eye lid. She has see 3 opthalmologists and 1 cornea specialist. They've all said it's "dry eye". Fine, but what is the cause.
I am one to read all the package inserts to all medications. As a professional, having sat on two Institutional Review Board for Animal and Medical Research at Henry Ford Hospital, I am well aware of all the possible side effects that can arrise with medications.
Recently I read up on Singular, I am confinced that there is a definite correlation of the eye problem with the Singular. I have told all the doctors and non seemed to want to speak with the allergist or work with him, or even consider that this is a possibility.
I intend to have her stop this medication and hope and pray that this will problem will cease. If any one has had a similar occurance with Singular, please respond.

For everyone who says don't give Adderall to kids or that it is the easy route, you obviously have never had to deal with a severe case of ADHD. I find it difficult to believe that you have spent years struggling through homework, or tears at least once a week when your child is punished in school. I find it difficult to believe that you spend years, time and money to try to find out what is wrong with your child--because you KNOW something is wrong! And once diagonised--be grateful that know you know--now you can start to deal with it! How many minutes or hours did you spend in one on one time with your child and within 5 mintues of ending that one on one time you find your 6 year old in a very dangerous situation from his lack of attention ability. I could write 11 years worth of experiences here and unless you are dealing with the same situation, how dare you judge any one!

We all need education on this subject and passing judgement on others and critizing parenting ability shows that ignorance. Until you feel our pain, don't even consider the possiblity that you understand. Society as a whole needs more education on ADD and ADHD, as we are failing our children.

I may not always have done the "right" thing for my child but I can honestly say I have done the best I can do---always! And everything has always been out of love for them----always!

Yes, there has been some side effects that wore off after 3 weeks they were gone. They have been well worth tolerating, and never would I put my child through another miserable year of school without the help of counseling and the medication he so desperately needed--that would be cruel!

Active physically fit male 54 years of age.

Have spent a lot of time and money with cardiologist and endocronologist to determine what has been wrong with me. All heart related tests negative; will see endo this week to see if hypoglycimia is the culprit, although blood sugar levels appear well within the normal range.

Biggest complaint is periodic fatigue, heart palpitations, panic attacks and abdominal and leg jerking. Also experience spells of near fainting associated with heart palpitations. Decided to stop taking daily dose of Singulair yesterday. Have been on this drug for the past 5-6 years. After reading this web site (and many others) hope this works. Will advise.

Doctor finally is getting something done. she checked my heart becasue I have MVP... and I am shedualed to get a mri of brain... I have a herniated disk in lower back, scoliosis, degenerative disk disease.... nuerologist checked for nerve damage due to herniation. won't hear back anything on that till after mri of brain. won't hear back about the heart till april.... Just found out that I am borderline hyperthyroidism... and the doc is sending me to a specialist. thyroid is inflammed and big.... My bones are crackly and pop alot and sore.... I started taking Lisinopril 2.5 weeks ago and I have been having severe muscle cramps in both calf muscles and started yesterday in both forearm muscles. Dr wants me to have an MRI to check for pinched nerve but after reading the side effects and seeing muscle cramps on the list, I think it would be a waste of time and money. They never look at the side effects before scheduling new tests. Be careful.

Hey voicesi,

My internist is a super doctor. when I didn't get my period and I went to my gyno, he denied the fact that it's due to the bc and came up w/ all sorts of excuses. He sent my with my thyroid results to an endocronlogist. Luckily I checked w/ my internist before I spent all that time and money at the endo. He said my thyroids are perfect, and the minute i said i came off b/c he said it takes 6 months to detox-its absolutely normal how i feel and that i shouldn' take vitex but provera.
I understand you totally with the weight issue. I was also a dancer and how do you expect me to go on stage with that disfiguring-figure, excuse the pun.
I will definitely update you on how that pill is going. I have two close weddings next week and nothing fits so I'm all the more desparate. Keep posting voice, i'll definitely be back w/ an update.
Take care,
Sherry

Wow! I've spent so much time and money at Dr's, specialists for tests to end up with absolutely no idea what is going on with me.
On my own, I decided to look into the medication I was taking ... and ta da!!! Here it is in big bold print! Thank you everyone ... and for this site!
I'd like to go back and just say a few words to all those Dr's that just laughed me out of their office and back in to my own world of frustration.
AND IF ANYONE KNOWS WHEN YOU STOP TAKING ADVAIR (WHICH I DID) ... DO THE SYMPTOMS GO AWAY, DO YOU GAIN YOUR NICE FIGURE BACK AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE???

Advair 500 DID relieve my asthma symptoms, excellent!
But with that....
Huge bloated stomach almost painful sometimes
Aching joints/stiffness
Severe Fatigue
Heartburn and reflux (on meds for that now!)
Significant weight gain, especially across the abdomen
Pain/ache across my upper chest area
Puffy face
Slow healing for something as simple as a scratch.
