hello everyone
i am a full time college student and I believe that i have some side effects from synthroid. As i was reading everyones blog i notice that some people feel the same way that i do. At times i feel that i'm normal but if something upsetting happens i get really tired, depress, and I have a never time concentrating at school and home. My body hurts all the time. especially my joints and i feel that i don't want to do anything. I have about a year left until i graduate and its the going to be hard. I cry sometimes for no reason. help! i'm going to talk to my doctor but if any body else feels the same way please reply.

I have been on yasmin for about 2 weeks now, and i've been having bleeding that much resembles a period for the whole time. I know that some explained side effects are spotting or light bleeding, but i just want to know how long this will last?

Hi, well I have been thinking about getting off Yasmin because I feel that I have become a really moody person. I have been on it for 4years and the only reason why I haven't changed my birth control is because I don't know how other B.C.'s are going to make me react. The only reaason I noticed was because my boyfriend and I were dating long before I got on Yasmin and I always felt great and after I got on it I started feeling very insecure, made about every little thing and just plane crazy. I had to stop thinking it for a month and I have to say that month was great! I had no mood swings and things just felt different and when I got back on it I am back to feeling mad all the time... I know I should get off it but I don't want to have irregular bleeding, longer periods, or possibly go thought the same thing I have with Yasmin. Yet I don't want it to rule my life anymore... Some advice would be helpful because I run out of my refills at the end of this month and I think I should decide now. I am also going to another gynecologist next week and plan on talking to her about my situation but it would be great to hear from people that have had the same problem.

@nkgulri:

This is a thing which many women are suffering from within hormonal changes. Some women have those problems after pregnancy or during menopause and so on....

And remember: Stopping the pill is a real big hormonal change your body has to go through, so it seems to be "normal", that you're loosing that much hair at the moment. As soon as your hormones are back in balance, this hair problem should stop!!

I have discovered, that my hair falls out more during special times within a month (ovulation or shortly before period)... Well, it's not that much but it definitely is there!!

So please try not to worry too much and give it some time... I know it sounds hard, but that's the only thing that can heal our bodies besides a good diet, drinking enough water a day and some supplements (B-Vitamines, Minerals (Magnesium, etc.)...). Those things seem to be very helpful as I experienced within the last 2 years...

I wish you all the best and keep us updated on how you're doing!!!

Greetings
Silke

Hi I have been on zoloft for 3 months and the very first side effect I can remember was being really freaking tired. I mean like very weak. My mouth got really dry. I had loose stools for awhile. I would steady shake and feel tremors in my hands. I would get really scared. My anxiety attack during the 1st month got worse. My sleep pattern was wonderful for the 1st month. I lost my appetite for food for about a couple of weeks. I didnt notice the fog coming until like my 2nd month. Sometimes you mind would get foggy and you would stare in one place and you would snap out of it. On the end of my second month i noticed i was getting happier and my anxiety went away just a little. You would experience tremors when you take your pill on a empty stomach or miss a pill. I noticed it makes you smile quite a bit but you still remain in a fog like state. My 3rd month now it seems to elevate your moods so you can feel a little symptoms and then you feel it go awy from time to time. I know ccrazy and vivid things run in your mind. I also notice you are sensitve to sunlight and your sensitivity increases. aNYHOW i will let you know more later.

twogirlsmom & Others-

Thanks for your reply. I wish I could take an antidepressant but the last time I did I spent an entire day with severe suicidal thoughts. It was horrific. It also made me feel soooo sick. It was Zoloft. The doc then wanted me to wait a week and try Wellbutrin or Sarafem but I declined both. After my Zoloft experience I am terrified of antidepressants. I have taken Xanax before with moderate success so I may ask for that again.

Yesterday morning I was in such panic mode I didn't think I was going to make it through the day. By late evening I came back around a little and felt better; however here we go again this morning. My heart is beating out of my chest and I can feel the fear rising.

I called my RE's office yesterday and spoke to the nurse and told her of my panic problems and bcps. She asked which ones I had taken in the past so I gave her my laundry list of meds. She then offered up some mini pills or the patch etc to which I kindly declined and burst into tears. I feel like nobody understands why I am feeling this way and that I just need to never take bcps again. The nurse set up and appt with my RE to discuss other options such as an IUD, tubal ligation (I am not open to that option though our family is complete).

Another thing that I have noticed in reading these latest posts is there seems to be some relation with symptoms turning bad around the 3 month mark; like the anxiety appears around that time. I know it's not like that for everyone but i can see a bit of a pattern forming. I am on month 3 myself and ready to burn this pack. I am done with Yasmin & the rest of them.

Denise

i've been on yasmin for about a month and a half (short time i know), but i've been noticing emotional and physical peculiarities already. i have never been on the pill before. My 3 week mark of taking it coincided with the beginning of my second semester at college, so i thought that may have contributed to this depression i'm feeling. i feel constantly anxious about things i could handle fine last just last semester. i have lost all appetite, but force myself to eat healthy food when i do eat and STILL i have gained about 10 pounds since the start of BC. does anyone else experience STABBING abdominal pains after eating? about 10 minutes after eating anything, my stomache starts cramping and i have to lay still in the fetal position to make it subside. my boobs have also grown at least half a cup size and hurt ALL THE TIME. i had no idea this could happen. It could just be paranoia, but i seem to be losing more hairs than normal in the shower and on my pillowcase.

i plan on switching to ortho tri-cyclin as soon as possible. i dont want to deal with this trial drug.

Kay,
I understand the anxiety you are going through and it is very difficult when people do not acknowledge Yasmin to be the cause of your symptoms. I felt alot like you 2 months post Yasmin and I honestly felt like I couldn't get through another day. Try not to take on any added responsibilities and put as little stress as possible on yourself right now because you need all the energy to get better. Try your hardest to focus on the present and take one thing at a time. I know it's hard--I've been there--but it does get better. Best wishes.

I have been on and off the jolly drug for years for eczma. Yes you will go back to your normal self in time. I know exactly how you feel and you are not alone. It makes me sweat, I can't sleep, and all the other side effects mentioned, especially the weight! Good luck

I've been on Effexor XR for a few weeks now for GAD and depression after being on Prozac for two years on and off. I dont know if its helping me or making me worse, its reduced my anxiety quite a bit, but I think its making my depression worse. I dont really know what it is, but a week after i started taking it I've started crying quite a bit. Previously I rarely cried because i felt so distant from my emotions, but now I seem to be feeling worse. The thing is I dont know if this is an improvement because I can actually feel something or if its worse because all i seem to be feeling is miserable. I cant seem to enjoy anything at all and I've lost most of my motivation since i started Effexor. I've noticed that I've become rather snappy and rude to people - this is not like me at all. I've lost all my enthusiasm for life (not that there was much to begin with) and it seems like theres nothing to look forward to. I seem to be thinking about suicide more than when i wasnt on it. I've never slept properly but now I keep on semi waking up during the night all the time. I know that its possible that my depression may have been getting worse regardless of the Effexor but i seriously think the two are related. But what worries me the most and is making me feel terrible is that Ive seen effexor advertised as an antidepressant 'for treatment resistant depression' - kinda makes me wonder that if its doing nothing good to me then what hope do i have? no wonder people are killing themselves on antidepressants - theyre advertised as some miracle cure and when they dont work then what are people supposed to do? im beginning to think more and more that im not depressed but i just have a pathetic personality that makes me sluggish and bored. feels like Effexor not working seems to confirm that.
