Tin symptoms and conditions

I went to have my Mirena taken out today. I must admit I will not be looking forward to having a period and this coil did do what it said on the tin but at what cost.

I told the nurse all of my side effects in the hope that she would be sympathetic. She told me that my weight gain was not due to the coil. What about my heavy painful breasts?. Well yes they are a side effect. She told me I was depressed because I had gained weight and that my sex life had stopped. Who said it had stopped just didn't enjoy it as much. What about my tiredness. She then went off and got a doctor who came in and told me that my weight gain and tiredness was probably due to a thyroid condition. But I had my thyroid checked last year. I then said that I need to exercise and that I did not want to put on any more weight because my father died at 48 of a heart attack and she then told me that i needed councelling because I am obsessed with my weight. I am totally convinced that all of my side effects are from this coil and I no longer have it. Hoorah. I will let you know how I get on. I feel I have totally made the right decision. I never thought I would wish to have periods and PMS. Bring it on at least I will be normal. By the way I didn't feel it being removed and nothing now.

I have been taking Topamax, 25 mg. for one week. Today was the first day I took 2. My doctor prescribed it for migraines, which I was having several times a month. The past few times I thought I was having a heart attack! I read about the side effects before I began the medicine so I have been waiting on everything to begin. So far the only thing I have noticed is I have a weird sensation in my mouth and sometimes in my throat. The only way I can describe it is if I have been breathing something caustic, such as smog or smoke, or a lot of dust. One thing I am going to try is a mouthwash called Biotene or Biotene. It is for dry mouth. Maybe it will help. Has anyone else experienced this and/or tried Biotene?
I read with interest what everyone has written. I drink soda all day and will be integrating more water because of one of the posts. So far though, my cokes taste the same. Is it only Dr. Pepper that tastes differently? I have also been getting winded easily and thought it was just me. The one side effect I am READY for is the weight loss. I gained 20 pounds in a year after I quit smoking. Anything to help with that is welcome.
So far though I have not had any migraines and I always have one with PMS. No increased anxiety but I have been on Zoloft for several years for depression. Maybe the Zoloft will offset the Topamax in that respect. I can be somewhat scatterbrained at times and as an assistant principal, I have to stay focused all day. Now that it is summer I will be able to relax a bit and it's ok if I am more absent minded than usual. Except that I have to work on a research project. But hey, does anyone really read that stuff??

I have been on Topamax for a month and a half and agree that cotton mouth , tin tasting drinks, no appetite, no focus and fatigue are the greatest side effects but yesterday someone at work said since I have been on it I am "edgy" guess that means I am a pain to be around. So now I know I am acting like I feel crappy.

I have been using topomax 100mg daily for 6 months now. I started at that dose immediately, as I was having occular migraines on a daily basis. I experienced terrible side effects of memory lapses, tingling in my face and hands, & speech issues for about 6 weeks. It was about that time that I also realized carbonated beverages were tasting like liquid tin. I also have decreased appetite, and have lost 35 lbs. The side effects were awful in the beginning, but I was told they would subside after my body adjusted to the medication. So, I kept telling myself the effects were due to the medication, and would eventually go away, and they did. I have to admit, those 6 weeks were awful. My kids, hubby and I would joke, because Mom just had a "loopy" topomax moment. As of today, the only side effects are the liquid tin taste of carbonated beverages and loss of appetite, and I am now experiencing difficulties sleeping, which could be caused by something else. For me, the 6 weeks of feeling like I was losing my mind were worth going through, as I am continuing to lose some needed poundage, and most importantly, I am headache free!

500 mg for 5 days UTI Burning pain in upper and lower extremities, tin tast in mouth, burning eyes, hair falling out, severe constipation, dry skin, muscle twitches, tremors, extreme anxiety...FDA does not respond to reports..I think the adverse drug effects are ignored because of profits.. they are not interested in the true # of individuals who are seriously hurt by this drug..pharmaceudical companies are too powerful...and Dr are thus not well informed so they prescribe dangerous drugs without even knowing how they can harm their patients...

Extreme dry mouth, taste perversion, leg and neck pain, exteme tiredness, general muscle pain. My mouth is so dry that in the morning, if I try to swallow without drinking something first, my throat sticks together and I have difficulty breathing. My ability to taste has decreased and I have a tin-like taste in my mouth all the time. I brush my teeth and use mouthwash five or six times a day, am always chewing gum to try to get rid of the taste and the dryness, but nothing works. I can't sleep at night because of the joint and muscle pain and am always exhausted. Am going to the doctor today and having her take me off of this medication.
