I have been taking Femcon for about a week now and about 1 to 2 hours after I take it, I have the most severe mood swings ever. I take it about 8pm, the same time I have taken other pills, and I find myself every night crying and then fall asleep due to tiredness. Not fun.

My 16 year old son took Singular for three days. Almost immediately after taking the first dose, he starting having increased blood pressure, rapid heart beat, tiredness, depression, thoughts of death, muscle soreness, tingling in his arms and legs, numbness, weird dreams (when he was actually able to sleep) and decreased appetite. He seriously thought that he was going crazy. It was not until I did some internet research that I finally linked all of his symptoms to this horrible drug. He stopped taking it on Friday of last week and each day since has been feeling better. He is not 100% back to normal yet, but each day seems to be better. It was a scary three day period while he was using this medication. Hopefully it will only take another day or two to get out of his system completely.

My 3 years old daughter was on Singulair for 8 months, that was prescribed by her Pedestrian from the Asthma clinic in Canada, Quebec. Lately, some of the symptoms of adverse effects are surfacing in her, including depression, action very emotional, constant having bad dreams (which causes tiredness), crying almost whole day in the daycare, refusing to eat and drink, refusing to join her favorite activities... Her Pedestrian told us there is no side effect on Singulair when she renewed the prescription 2 days ago. Because of my doubt about that, I started research on the web and found out that the early communication was issued by FDA. Of course, I took my daughter off from Singulair right away.
I work in the drug development clinical research field. I know that nothing the FDA or Health Canada will pursue until a lot of cases on adverse events (side effects) reported to them. Please everyone, if you or your child has had developed any side effects on this particular drug (Singulair), please report to FDA at once. It got me so upset is that this drug is constantly and widerly prescribed to children, and the Pedestrians are not caution enough to tell the parents. I definitely do not want to see other children suffer the same symptoms as my daughter had.

I have been feeling a sensation of pins and needles in my calves and a feeling of numbness in my feet. I know this is listed as a potential side effect but what are the indications? Also, dizziness and tiredness. I have been on Singulair for about 9 months.

My doctor took me off metopolol (genericToprol), and my last dosage was a week ago. I suffered weight gain, tiredness, and muscle fatigue during my 18 months on the drug.
I have 2 questions - how long will the drug remain in my system, and has anyone who experienced weight gain while on Toprol or the generic, lost any weight after stopping it?
Thanks, Tony

I've taken Lisinopril (10 mg once a day) now for two months and am reasonably happy with it so far. My BP seems under control. I bought a BP monitor and record the results on a spreadsheet. Since starting Lisinopril in early May, my average BP is 112/64, down quite a bit from where it used to be. I often check it several times a day. I do have some side effects, the worst of which is light-headedness when I rise from sitting or lying down. I also have some tiredness. Lately I've developed itchless red spots on my right forearm that come and go. My big concern is what longterm use of Lisinopril will do to my body. My goal is to continue with a diet and exercise program and, with the doctor's guidance, wean myself completely off this medicine by the end of the year. I would suggest to anyone who hasn't to buy a BP monitor, record the results and show them to your doctor. The doctors treat you on one snapshot of your BP taken at their office, and BP readings can change dramatically during the day, depending on the situation. If your average BP, say, is 135/80 at home and you're being treated for what the doctor sees, perhaps 160/95, questions arise as to dosage and to the necessity of taking any BP medication at all. walterj

All this talk of HAIR LOSS, POSSIBLE GALL STONES, ANEMIA etc. is really scaring me as my doctor (gastro-i) has prescribed it for extreme IBS. Am interested to know if anyone else has experienced hair loss. I HAVE been experiencing gas and feeling tired. Don't know if the tiredness is due to the Walchol. Am very uncomfortable about taking this drug after reading all these comments.

Wow I'm glad I stumbled across this page.
I only started taking Yasmin 1 month ago after switching from LevlenEd which I was on for 4 months. On LevlenEd I found I was developing a redness in the face (not acne but almost like rosacea) which is something very uncommon for me as I have always had very clear and even toned skin. After visiting the doctor he switched me to Yasmin - something about the different combination of hormones in the tablet and that this should clear things up. Well it hasn't. In fact I've experienced so many horrible side effects of the pill that I decided tonight that I'm just going to stop taking it all together. Side effects include:
Extreme emotions
Massive increase in appetite resulting in excessive weight gain
Lack of motivation
Tiredness
Skin redness and swelling of the pores
Hot flushes at night resulting in sweat break outs (usually I'm actually cold at night and never sweat)
Decrease in libido and dryness during sex
Puffiness in the skin and a hot feeling
Sensitive muscles all over - around the ribs, tummy, arms - just touching and they feel lightly bruised
I'm usually a very active and fit person but have just felt so lethargic on the pill. Combine this with an increase in appetite and I now have a task ahead of my to loose this excess weight that I have put back on after working it off for so many years.
Before taking the pill I generally did not take any medications at all.
I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have experienced the same skin conditions that I found when on the pill.
The funny thing is that my sister is on Yasmin and has had no problems at all.
The only plus was that my breasts went up a whole size! A great thing for me!!
My boyfriend is just going to have to deal with the change in how we manage birth control because the side effects I've experienced over the last 5 months are just ridiculous!

I ONLY HAD ONE INJECTION AND THE SIDE EFFECTS WERE HORRIBLE. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD LIL BOY WHO IS WONDERFUL. WHEN HE WAS A YEAR AND A HALF I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR SEVERE BLEEDING AND FOUND OUT THAT I HAD BEEN PREGNANT AND WAS HAVING A MISCARRIAGE. THEN 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD AN IRREGULAR PERIOD WHICH HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I HAD ONE AND THEN TWO WEEKS LATER HAD ANOTHER AND IT WAS VERY PAINFUL. I WENT TO SEE MY GYN AND HE DID A VAGINAL ULTRASOUND AND TOLD ME I HAD A CYST THE SIZE OF A GOLF BALL ON MY LEFT OVARY. HE PUT ME OF A HIGH DOSE OF BIRTH CONTROL TO DISSOLVE IT. TWO WEEKS LATER I HAD TO GO BACK TO THE DR BC I WAS STILL IN A LOT OF PAIN. THE DR THEN TOLD ME HE WAS GONNA DO A LAPROSCOPE. WHEN I CAME OUT OF SURGERY THEY HAD INFORMED ME THAT I HAD ENOMETRIOSIS AND THAT MY BLADDER WAS STUCK TO MY UTERUS AND MY UTERUS WAS STUCK TO MY ABDOMINAL WALL. I ALSO HAD THE ENOMETRIOSIS ALL OVER MY OVARIES, UTERUS, AND BLADDER. IT WAS VERY PAINFUL. MY DR SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE A 6 MONTH TREATMENT OF LUPRON. SO I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY. I TOOK ONLY ONE INJECTION AND THE SIDE EFFECTS WERE HORRIBLE. I HAD MOOD SWINGS, HOT FLASHES, STOMACH PAIN, CRAMPS, FATIGUE, TIREDNESS, JOINT PAIN, SWELLING, WEIGHT GAIN ETC... I CALLED MY DR AND HE PRESCRIBED A HORMONE PILL WHICH DID NOTHING. SO I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE ANYMORE INJECTIONS. THAT WAS ALMOST 3 MONTHS AGO. I AM STILL IN SEVERE PAIN SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO GET OUT OF BED (WHICH I HAVE TO GET UP EARLY EVERY MORNING I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD). I STILL HAVEN'T HAD A PERIOD AND IM EXTREMELY RESTLESS AT NIGHT I AM TIRED BUT CANT SLEEP. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN I SHOULD EXPECT A PERIOD??

Hi everyone
My little boy who is nearly two was put on Singulair as a preventative.
I did check on forums when we started using Singulair and I was concerned that there has been descriptions of negative affects. Always trying to be objective I rationalised that the people in this forum are a small part of the greater Singulair population and as a result there was a low risk of negative affects on my little boy.
I have to say I think I was wrong. As soon as he was using Singulair, he had restless nights of sleep. Every night he would cry off and on until 2am and I guess he was so tired he slept. During the day he was very short tempered and became upset very easily. We put this down to tiredness. After 10 days of the lack of sleep for parents and little one, we told our doctor.
He advised to take him off Singulair for 5 days and make observations and then put him back on. Last night, his first night off Singulair was bliss. Not a sound. He had a great sleep. As I type he is now having another great sleep.
Let us see what happens after 3 more days and after putting him back on Singulair.
It would seem that if we are correct and that Singulair is a cause of an issue for my child, am I a quasi beta testing laboratory for a drug?
We are from Australia.
Thank you for reading.

I am finally writing after reading these posts since the end of April. That is when I took my 11 year old son off singulair, in an act of desperation. He has been on singulair on and off for about five years for seasonal allergies. He started again in mid-March so it could get into his system, before the allergies started. Immediately thereafter his behavior changed. He was arguing on a daily basis. He would hit, kick or trip me when he was angry. He was starting to destroy things in anger. He seemed to be fueled by anger. It was affecting the whole family. He was starting fights with his younger brother, my husband's heart was palpitating and I was crying every day. I heard about Singulair side effects and looked it up. I saw that it caused behavioral changes and out of desperation, took him off, not knowing what to expect. We had three days of total peace, then on the fourth day another outburst. Then my son told me he had taken a singulair the night before. That was it. I threw every pill in the garbage. He no longers acts like that. It's been almost two months so I am convinced it was the Singulair. By the way, he always complained of headaches, stomach aches and would scream in his sleep. Who knew - it was the singulair all along.

It is so funny to read all of the negativity but nothing positive! I came here looking for side effects and get a bashing about how horrid Yasmin/Yaz is! Let me first start off by listing my side effects that I wanted to know about:
breast tenderness
change in appetite
tiredness
red spot in eye
Next, let me tell you that I researched BEFORE taking this medicine because 1. I have MS 2. I suffer from migraines and seizures and 3. I take a whole boat load of medications! My doc recommended Yasmin for PMDD coupled with Sarafem to help my mood right before and during my time of the month. I must say that I have only been on it for about 10 days so I do not know anything of how it works with my period.
I am APPALLED at the fact that there are few, if any, positive comments about this pill! I know for a FACT that it works because I know 7 people personally that are on it that have NO PROBLEMS! So, I ask you all that have negative comments, what is wrong with you, other than you HATE the pill? What OTHER meds were you on while taking it? I read a few comments about stopping for a month and then starting again and then wondering why they felt like crap?? Well HELLO?! You are effing with your body's hormones! And there is a difference between Yaz and Yasmin hormones. If you had a bad experience with Yaz, make sure you are not confusing it with Yasmin! Yaz is a 24 day hormone pill where Yasmin is only 21 days.
I am not a doctor, but like I said, I have done my research. I have suffered with adult acne and PMDD for years. It sucks. If Yasmin helps, I want to know. I don't want to read a bunch of bull about people who mess up their cycles by taking the pill and smoking or taking the pill with meds they shouldn't be taking them with. I know what I can and cannot take. Most of what I take is natural and what is not, well, it CAN be taken with Yasmin. Like the website for Yasmin says and like most of the informational, non-biased websites say, Yasmin and Yaz is not for everyone. Some people cannot handle this type of hormone.
I can guarantee you that some doctor or pharm company can tell you that whatever symptom you are having is from something completely unrelated to the BC you are taking. Warnings are clearly marked...read them and obey!

I have to take Doxy for 2 weeks twice a day. I have all the same side effects as everyone has listed here... very down and depressed, itchy pimple rash all over legs, face, neck, chest and back of shoulders, cold sores, severe headache, bloating, stomach pain, tiredness, lack of interest in anything, dry mouth, tingling toes and anxiety. Can't wait to finish the course, but am disappointed to read that the side effects carry on after stopping, does anyone know how long it takes for them to subside?

I had a really bad case of strep throat because I thought it was a cold or flu and didn't go to the doctor for 12 days...but then I finally went because my throat hurt so bad and my glands were so swollen. I don't have insurance and maybe that's why the doctor gave me ten free samples of avelox right off the bat instead of just prescribing penicillin. I took the first dose and I would say my sore throat and swelling were 80% gone within the FIRST THIRTY MINUTES. So, definitely this is a very strong antibiotic compared to the Z-pak (zithromax) I've taken for bronchitis before. It's now day 4 and I have to say I am reluctant to take it for 10 days!! I haven't had any severe reactions, just bloating, diarrhea, dizziness, and some tiredness. And pretty strong nausea for the first hour, so I have been pushing the dose time from 9am to gradually later at night where I am not so sensitive. I am 33yrs old, healthy and eat well usually so I think my strong constitution has kept me from some of the more severe reactions I see above. HOWEVER, I do feel that it's a bit too strong! Surely there must be some way to lower the dosage of this antibiotic? I feel that it's worked well, but it just is too much like a SLEDGEHAMMER!

After injected inter-muscularly into upper back, traps and neck area, I immediately felt a numb sensation on face lips inside mouth back of throat and dizziness to the point where I was certain I was going to faint. Days, into 2nd week there was still pain at injection sites, tiredness, fatigue, nausea and a constant sore throat. At end of 2nd week after injections, I woke up with a 'mysterious' hive-like rash on my back, abdomen and arms, while asleep one night, that I had never experienced before. My doctor had me take Zyrtec and and cortisone cream on the itchy rash. The day it cleared, I experienced bleeding from my ear, pounding in ear and head. Another thing never experienced before. Others have said he tolerate it well or have lesser side effects than me. I will NEVER allow that to be injected into me again.

I am a 40 year old female and both my husband and I are taking Lisinopril 40 mg. I have mild tingling in my arms at night, however the tingling/ burning sensation is so great in my husband's arms that he can't sleep at night. His rest is continually interrupted by this uncomfortable sensation. I have noticed a host of things like tiredness, an occasional dry cough, feelings of depression, rapid heart beat, and lack of energy in myself. My husband has experienced all of the above and muscle pain and irritability. I thought his irritability was being caused by lack of sleep, but I have learned from this website that it may be yet another side effect of the medication. We both have to get off this. Thanks for all of your helpful comments.

I had the Mirena fitted in April 2005 because of bad pms and heavy periods. I thought it was great at first not to have the periods, and the pms noticeably subsided for a good 18 months. By that stage I'd put about 4 kgs on, which was starting to niggle me. I worked really hard to keep my weight stable. During the next months up till removal 2 weeks ago I experienced aching joints, particularly back and knees, loss of libido, tiredness, the return of the pms symptoms, and acne as bad as I'd had it as a teenager. When I went to see a dermatologist, it was he who pointed out that this was a major side effect of the Mirena, so when I searched on this on the internet, I was amazed how many women had got the same problems as me. I had started thinking that now I'm 42 I must be over the hill or something.
I had it removed 2 weeks ago, and although my weight hasn't changed, I feel lighter on my feet. My back ache has gone, and I feel much more energetic.
I know other women who have the Mirena and have not been affected in the slightest by these negative symptoms. I guess it's just the way your body reacts. Fortunately I didn't need to ask twice to get it removed, since I understand some gyne's seem to reject the connection between the symptoms and the Mirena. Problem is, it's difficult to find a birth control that suits me. I'm definitely leaving the hormones alone in future.

I just got mine inserted Thursday and am having cramps on my right side with a light brown discharge, anxiety, depression, tiredness, mood swings, dizziness with a lack of concentration and all this has taken place since Thursday. The first night I had an anxiety attack and I could feel the Mirena inside me when I would move around. 600mg of ibuprofen and other pain medicine would not even stop the cramping. I could feel it in my sleep and am having problems sleeping because of it. To believe all this was within 24 hours of insertion. Based on my symptoms and other peoples side effects and problems, I am making an emergency appt for tomorrow to have it removed. This product is very expensive and sounds really good on paper, but my current and longterm health is priceless. I just wish I had found this website before mine was inserted. Please don't take anymore chances with your health if you are having problems with Mirena.

After 25 days on 10 mg/day Lisinopril the following symptoms: extreme dizziness all day, hypotension so bad can't even get out of car seat without almost fainting, night time dry cough (tickle type), unusual muscle tiredness in legs and back (I bike 10 mi/day, 5 days/week for years) and now a rash on both forearms!! Doctor took me off the drug yesterday and prescribed Diovan 80mg/12.5 to begin next week. Wants all Lisinopril out of my system. The most disturbing side effect was Confusion. Even had dreams relevant to the effect on my thinking skills. I imagined this must be what it's like for a person when they realize they have Alzheimer's. Two days off Lisinopril, a little hypotension, dizziness gone, confusion gone, but rash remains and is worsening. All of the above discussed with doctor. He moved me to his own choice for his high BP...Diovan. We'll see

I have experienced many of the same side effects as you. Late 20's male..blood pressure has been mildly high for many years, was put on 10mg of lisinopril about a month ago- as many have mentioned the first 2 days my BP dropped considerably and I could hardly stand up without feeling like I would fall over due to the drop in BP. However, after 2-3 days this was gone and my BP stabilized in the 120-80 range. For 2 weeks I was great, no side effects. Then for the past week I have been very tired, very nauseas and noticed my arms/legs would fall asleep much more easily than before. All of these seem to be common side effects as you have all mentioned, however:
1) Not many of you mention nausea - I feel it 60% of the day, is this common also?
2) What do the doctor's then prescribe to make it go away - I cant live like this - cant concentrate at work due to tiredness and nausea
3) I go to doctor in a few days for my check-up, any suggestions on what to say?

I am 67 years old and I had a PSA level of 5.7 as of April 16th 2008. In the year 2000 my PSA level was 11 and Dr did biopsy and found no issues. On May 8th my present Dr prescribed Levaquin 500 Mg to treat my PSA. As of today I have taken 18 tablets of Levaquin 500 mg. On May 24th evening I started getting fever tiredness and diarrhea. Took Paracetamol 500 mg to reduce fever. Temperature reduced to 97. If I didn't take any fever reducing medicine my body temperature started increasing. on May 26th temperature started increasing and it reached 102.6 and got admitted into emergency. At emergency they did run several tests and later discharged asking me to continue with fever reducing medicine. Also I was told to continue with Levaquin 500mg. Though I am taking fever reducing medicine with Levaquin, today my body temperature reached 105. On May 19th,2008 I had a blood test and came to know that my PSA had reached 6.2. I don't want to take Levaquin any more.

I have been taking 100mg Doxy twice a day for a week now. I'm really glad I found this site because I have been exhausted and I couldn't figure out why. I now know it must be the Doxy. I am taking it for an acne infection. I had been on birth control pills plus spironolactone for over two years- the combination of those two things had totally cleared my skin- so I foolishly decided to go off the birth control and spironolactone thinking my skin would be fine... well two months later my face started breaking out and by the third month I had severe cystic acne on my previously flawless skin! SO the dermatologist put me back on birth control pills and spironolactone, but since that would take at least a month to start working, he also prescribed the Doxy to clear up the infection faster. (I'm providing all of these details in case anyone else is taking Doxy for acne) so I started the Doxy and I think it was by the 4th day or so that I started feeling really tired. I've taken a nap every day for the past few days, AND slept all night. I was going to the gym daily but I could only do half my time on the treadmill last time I went and I haven't gone in two days. I'm also depressed- two days ago I cried three times that one day, yesterday I cried once. I'm just feeling sorry for myself etc- depression for no reason whatsoever. I had been feeling really good about myself all last month- going to the gym, feeling happy & high form the exercise endorphins, finally losing weight, etc, so I know there is NO reason for this tiredness and depression now other than the doxy. Just thought I'd share this because reading all of these posts has really helped me to see that it is just the drug. I will try very hard to force myself to go the gym, even if I can only do half as much. Also, my skin is SLOWLY getting better, but still have another week to go I think. The dermatologist said to take doxy for a month, but I will plan to stop as soon as my skin is clear- hopefully just one more week or two at the most. When my skin is clear I'll take it for one or two more days just to make sure the infection gets totally knocked out, but then that's it, so hopefully I can take it at least one week less than prescribed.
About feeling sick and the sore throat/ "stuck in throat" feeling- I cant stress enough to take it with lots of water and food, standing up, and don't lie down! First of all about feeling sick- I thought I was going to throw up for HOURS one time when I didn't take it with food- horrible feeling!! But this is even worse- about 15 years ago I took doxy and had to go to the hospital because I couldn't breathe, couldn't swallow, and had a splitting migraine headache etc... it had gotten stuck in my esophagus and took days for the symptoms to subside. It took the doctors forever to figure out it was the doxy. You would think I'd never take it again after that, but I know the throat symptom happened from taking it with very little water right before I lay down to go to bed, because I remembered doing that- and I woke up the next day with all of those problems. I still get a little bit of a feeling that I can't swallow as well as I normally can, but it's not that bad- sort of like when you are trying not to cry and feeling "choked up" or with "a lump in your throat"- that kind of a feeling. I think others have described this too, and it's unfortunately normal, to an extent. If it is truly annoying it might be as bad as it got for me 15 years ago, and you should see a doctor because when it was truly stuck in my throat it got worse before it got better.
Hope this helps others.
