Tmj symptoms and conditions

I am taking omeprezole & blood pressure medication & am having muscle cramps in my legs & feet mostly, but even in my chest (Thought I was having a heart attack).I am experiencing severe fatigue & like one of the previous posts, I'm having difficulty even holding the steering wheel of my truck.It's difficult for me to stay awake ,especially if I relax for more than 5 minutes.I assumed it was the blood pressure meds, & stopped taking them recently to see if that would help.(It didn't) I'm going to stop all synthetic meds ASAP & hope for recovery.I've been taking these for 3 years & am experiencing many of the same symptoms as other posts,including swollen breasts (I'm a male)...THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE!!! I posted the paragraph below a few weeks ago. I just wanted to give an update. I went to a neurologist and he pinpointed the cause of the headache to being TMJ (jaw disorder). He diagnosed it by having me open my mouth, dropping my jaw and he pressed on the sides of my jaw up by my ear which was very painful. It caused all the headache symptoms, sinus like pain, back of head/neck and shoulder pain and tightness along with ear popping and some dizziness. We still don't know what caused the TMJ ( I still suspect it might be Yasmin since this developed a few days after I started taking it, no history of grinding teeth). It is starting to get better after 5 weeks since it started and 3 weeks of no Yasmin. Just thought I would share this in case it helps anyone with similar symptoms.

I had Mirena inserted one week ago and there was some minimal cramping directly after the insertion but I have had nothing ever since and I am hoping it remains that way. I am so sorry to hear of all the negative side effects that Mirena is causing some women but I am interested in hearing some of the more positive feedback.

i have been on the nuvaring about 2yrs give or take. Just about 2mths ago i discovered having head aches. They have not gone away ever since. I have have blood work done, and mri. the mri showed i my jaw pops out of place when i open my mouth to wide. The doctor says that it looked lik TMJ but there to independent things. So he suggested to stop using my birth control. I called my gyno, she said that people have had cases of getting migraines but its unusual to be on it for so long and suddenly develop migraines. I have been on lots of medication nothing seems to work. She told me to stop taking it after my next menstrual cycle, im praying that this will cure my migraines.

Am I the only one who has gained a lot of weight while on Lisinopril? I have gained over 40lbs in 3 years. I have also experienced odd muscle cramping and have never made a connection to this and Lisinopril. The pain in my ear, side of my head, and my jaw was unbelievable. ENT dr thought it was TMJ or nerve damage. He was not able to really pin down the exact cause. One month later I was bed ridden with severe back pain, which I have never had before. MRI showed nothing. Headaches are daily, cough, leg cramps, chest pain, decreased sex drive, and definitely have feelings of depression. I have never made the connection between the changes in my personality, health, and lifestyle to this medicine; but now I have. I will be immediately contacting my doctor to discuss alternatives. My BP when I started was 150/90 and now is 112/70. Please let me know if anyone has also had the weight gain like I have experienced. I know I am going to have to have hard facts to show to my doctor. Thank you.

I used to take 10mg of Flexeril back when I was in high school for my TMJ and upper back/neck/shoulder pain. I would take it at night, and I would wake up late almost every day. I would feel very "out of it" all day, and I began experiencing feelings of depression. Being a very emotionally stable person, this was strange. I stopped taking it.

I just started it up again and took 10mg last night. I woke up somewhat irritable, and I feel extremely stressed and depressed. I feel like crying for no reason. Not sure if I'll continue this drug.

I am on Lamictal 75mg (down from 150) Lexapro 10mg (down from 20) and Clonazapam (3mg daily) - Here are my side effects

easy bruising, unusual eye movements when my eyes are closed, fatigue, loss of appetite, tingling in lips and all throughout body, daily headaches, grinding teeth - my teeth hurt so bad in the mornings, Loss of memory, shortness of breath.

This all scares me greatly - I am under a phychiatrist only doing NO blood work and he just keeps moving my meds up and down! I am so frustrated and afraid (after doing research and my family medical history) that the problems I was having before going to this dr. is due to a thyroid disorder.

anyone else feeling any of these symptoms?

While taking Levaquin I experienced insomnia and anxiety. One week after completing 500mg a day for 10 days, I began experiencing Tendonitis in my right hand/wrist and have had an incredibly painful earache with tinnitus and vertigo. The ENT doctor diagnosed TMJ, but I do not grind my teeth or clench my teeth. My jaw operates just fine with no immediate pain, but the earache persists almost constantly. The ENT doctor's solution was Vicodin, but I want a cure not a pain treatment. I don't believe I have TMJ and wonder if it could be the temporal tendon. I am indirectly aware of two other people who have had the same experience, and I wonder how many others are out there. If any one else has experienced this and has any knowledge or advice to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. I have no idea who to go to about this. The ENT doctor does not have any solutions, and I doubt a dentist can help me because I don't think it's TMJ.

I have been on Yasmin for 4 years. I switched from Ortho-Tri-Cyclin because the massive weight gain. I have had no visible problems with Yasmin until recently. I have not gained any weight, but I work out 5 times a week. Now, after reading other posts, I realize that I have had many of these problems. The past year or so, I have been crying for no reason at all. I have been extremely tired no matter how much sleep I get, a loss of sex drive ( which is hurting my relationship), very painful sex, and have had respiratory problems. Over the past couple of months, I have had severe gas, which has never been a problem before. It is painful. I have had very bad TMJ for about 2 years now. I have never had any problems with my jaw before then. The pain is on my left side. I just read some of the side effects of Yasmin, and left-sided jaw is one of them. I am going to talk to my Gyno about switching at my next visit. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know why this happens?

My journey with Minera started in September 2005, two months after the birth of my second daughter.

Previous to the insertion of Minera and the birth of my daughter I was under the care of a rheumatologist for chronic knee and foot pain. I was never diagnosed with any specific disease or disorder. When I became pregnant with my daughter in May 2004 all of my pain vanished. I stopped seeing the doctor and had a normal pregnancy.

My pain symptoms started to return shortly after I gave birth and in September 2005 I decided to have Minera put in. I had no problems with the insertion and after bleeding for about 6 weeks my period stopped. I had some cramping here and there but no more period. I felt great!

My pain symptoms worsened over time and I developed more problems. none of which I related to Minera. My problems were:

Terrible joint pain and swelling in my knees
Pain that radiates from my lower back to my feet
Pain in my right ring finger
Stiffness
TMJ
Insomnia
Hair loss
Weight gain
Irritability
Mood swings
Scarring acne
Fatigue
Lack of interest in sex
Swelling in my feet

I started to believe I had something really wrong with me. I did research and found a lot of my symptoms were in sync with Fibromyalgia. I started seeing a new rheumatologist who did tons of blood work and x-rays on me. After all the results came back she said I did not test positive for anything. She diagnosed my with rheumatoid arthritis because I had all the clinical symptoms. She prescribed prednisone and placqunel (sp?) for the arthritis which seems to be helping.

I was on a parenting forum I frequent the other day and I saw a post form a woman complaining about all the side effects of Minera. I did some research and found this site and another

It's like a light bulb went off. All of these things that I have been suffering with seem to be related to the IUD.

So I would like to hear from some of you ladies that have had Minera removed already. Do you feel better? Are your side effects gone?
Also has anyone removed Minera themselves?

I have been on 100 mg of Zoloft for 8 months after a several years of prolonged stressed leading to depression. It has been a life saver. I feel like I have my happy, balanced life back. No weight gain, no anxiety, no mood swings. However, I do have problems recently with my jaw. I feel like I have TMJ. I have jaw pain and my bite doesn't feel right. I also have very vivid dreams, so vivid I sometimes have to stop during the day and ask myself did I dream that or was it real when the dream pertains to daily living. I am wondering if I need to cut back now to 50 mg.

I have been using the Ring for about 2 years now. I did gain a total of about 20 pounds since I am on it. Just figured that comes with age. I do suffer with migranes monthly. I have gone to ENT for my sinsus, thinking it was that so they wanted me to have sinus surgery but I cancelled. I went to the TMJ specilalist thinking it's from that. All they did was give a splint. My Doctor then decided lets try Imitrex. It worked wonders. I live on that stuff. Well I use it so often that I really cant afford to keep refilling my prescription. So now I just seen a neurologist. He put me on Topamax to try to stop the headaches before coming on well the side effects from the Topamax were just as bad as the migranes. Well rigth about now I am having a nervous breakdown. Where do I go from here every doctor thinks I'm crazy. So I get online thinking where do I begin so I start with NuvaRing side effects. I go to this site and start reading and all my symptons are the same as all these on here. I have the weight gain, migranes, I am actually on Zoloft so I can't say I am moody. I also have microscopic blood in my urine that we are trying to figure out where that is coming from. Hopefully the NR and nothing serious. I will let ya'll Know!!!! I am sooo glad I read about all of this. Even though my doctor says that it's not the NR. I will prove him wrong!!!!!!

This drug caused a week from hell for me. It started out with severe back pain and leg pain and weakness on my right side. Soon, the pain spread all over my back, into my shoulders, and down my right arm. My balance was so bad I could not walk from one side of the room to the other. TMJ was worse, I felt like my teeth were moving. I had such bad fatigue, I would just lay in bed. Plus, my mouth was so dry. It took me about 5 days to get rid of the side effects after I stopped the drug.

So what does work? I've had depression, yeast infections, no sex drive, and I need to get this thing out. Has anyone with these same problems with the NuvaRing had luck with another form of birth control?

I started having really bad tooth pain, like all of my teeth on the upper jaw. I have been clenching my teeth, which I never did before. I thought I was gtting TMJ or something, and kind of stumbled upon Singulair as the cause. I have been on it for a month. Now that I have read the side effects, I have also had stomach pain (I thought I ate bad food yesterday) and have been overly tired. If I didn't start looking for a cause for all of this tooth pain, I never would have made the connection! That's scary.

Also, Singulair does not list this side effect on their website, it only appears at the various pharmacy websites that sell it. I am going to complain to Singulair about this. I would have suspected it a lot sooner!

sexual side effects, fall asleep all of the time. Cannot even watch tv without falling asleep, no matter what time of day. Also I have noticed that I cannot have climax while having sex, as I have not had any problem. Hope to hear from you. I thank you in advance

Have not taken the medication yet, but doctor prescribed this for TMJ jaw pain; Is this approriate for TMJ?

I am worried about my 11year old daughter. She has been on a high dose of singulair for 7 years just for mild asthma. She gets aggataited very easily, has mood swings, depressed alot, has a temper like you would not believe, before she started singulair she was a very mellow child. I too trusted my doctor, I asked several times doesn't this seem like a high dose for a child, and is it safe for her to be on this medication for a long time. I was always told it was safe. I took my daughter to have braces put on, her orthadontist ask me has my daughter ever had a facial trama, and asked if she was okay at birth. It shocked me, my child was perfect at birth no tramas had ever occured. He explained that her face was a little deformed, but wasn't very noticeable to me. That was three years ago, now I am taking my daughter to a TMJ specailist about the pain she is having in her jaw and I now can tell that there is a deformatiy on her left side of her face where she is having pain. Does Anyone know if high doses in children cause this???

OK....I also had bad jaw pain for 4 days, when I was on Yasmin...and the doctor thought I had TMJ! I NEVER had symptoms like that before in my life! (see my other symptoms logged on Oct. 10,2004) I have now been off of the pill now, for 20 days....and there IS life after Yasmin!! I am not depressed anymore, no mood swings....and almost all of the symtoms have disapeared!

I even feel as though the libido is making a come back!!!

I took Levaquin from May 1, 02 until July 19,02 for an infected hip prothesis. I developed severe pain in my fingers, knuckles, hands, shoulders and TMJ joints. The Dr. said it would go away. As of May 9, 03 I still have the problem and am seeing a rheumatologist. He, through blood test said I have ANCA Positive vasculitis which is caused from taking Levaquin. The course of treatment is steroids. I took steroids and the raised havoic with me, and only made matters worse. His next course of action is massive doses of steroids. IV therapy for three days followed by 100, yes 100 days of taking 15 mg prednisone daily. He treated his only other patient with ANCA Positive and it did not work.
I'm currently waiting to get in to Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic or University of Michigan Medical Center.
My question to anyone out here is if there is a class action law suit going against the manufacturer of Levaquin.

I tried this too. I noticed that after about 4 hours I was getting very weak. Like low blood sugar. After I stopped taking them this stopped. Also to the RN. I have TMJ and neck problems that is close to be ready to worked on by a Doctor but not at this time. But it hurts like He** day in and day out. I had a doctor that gave me Telynol # 3 and just taking 2 in the morning made such a big diffirence. SInce then I haven't been giving any so hey just handle it, right. It seems odd that a naturall thing Like Codeine is looked so down on yet make man made drugs and trust them?? In spain people can walk in to the store and just buy Codeine. Its in all the stores. I don't here about no major problems over there , have you??? Funny how the usa is controlled so much by the people in power like the Doctors. I guess if we could go in the store and just buy it what would they do.
