I have been on lisinopril for approximately 4 years. I feel like today is the first day of my life back. I went to a different doctor and told him my symptoms. He told me to stop taking lisinopril and gave me a prescription for something else. For the last 3 years or so, I thought I was spiraling downward. I have had shortness of breath, hoarseness, coughing, mucus in throat until I gag, red face, itchy skin, loss of hair and cramping. I was afraid to tell the doctor all this, so I lived with it until one day I went to an allergist. He found me allergic to a lot of food and things. I have been getting shots and all and still did not feel better. I am praying that all these symptoms were from the lisinopril. I will find out within a couple of weeks if I feel better. After reading all these stories, I probably don't even need allergy shots. All the symptoms I read about, I have. I want my life back and I cannot believe that there is a medicine out there like this.

I began prednisone May 20th for hives from a reaction to an antibiotic. After taking it for a few days I started having ringing in the ears, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest and sweating, dry mouth, puffy face and just a strange feeling like my blood pressure is up. I took it for 7 days out of the nine because the nurse told me to stop it after I called in about how I have been feeling. Today is the first day of not taking it but I see hardly no improvements. My husband tells me to drink a lot to flush this medication out of my system. Today I am experiencing some chest discomfort with slight aching. I feel the same as all of you. I wished I knew of this drug beforehand, and I hope to never see this drug again. I just hope it didn't cause much damage. I will be praying for all of you. No one knows any more what can happen after taking such medication. If you are on this call your Dr. to be taken off. This is not good, I have no idea why this is still on the market. Hope you all recover from your symptoms after taking this drug!

I've been on this med for 6 years. It was not until I started reading this site that I figured out that my problems might be related to Advair use. I've had sore joints/muscles for years. Terrible insomnia, in fact my doctor has me on prescription sleeping pills, but I still can't sleep. I've gained 50 lbs in five years. My eyes bother me continuously. I feel depressed for no good reason. The bottoms of my feel are so sore in the morning that I can hardly walk. I can't exercise - just too tired. (and I used to all the time).

I've recently quit taking advair - cold turkey, but I'm not sure if that's wise. It's been two weeks and today is the first day that I haven't felt very well. I'm wondering how long the body stores this stuff and if I should have weaned off more slowly.

Thanks for all your comments and for this site. What a blessing!

Here's my horrible experience w/ Doxycycline Hyclate (100mg prescribed 2x day)
I only took 3 doses of this and vomited one of those.(there appeared to be blood in vomit) I was taking this for pelvic infection. I had severe nausea that came in waves. I also had severe drowsiness to the point that I could not lift my head up. I felt a sense of being "out of body" and extreme dizziness that almost made me feel like I was falling. I had confusion, disorientation, forgetfulness, and an inability to concentrate. I felt bone chilling cold, that alternated with sweating and hot flashes. My face, hands, and arms became puffy. I was very drowsy but could only sleep a couple hours due to insomnia. When I did sleep I had very weird and vivid dreams. I also felt a general sense of panic the day after I stopped taking it. This stuff was nasty and I will never take it again.

It is wonderful to have a forum like this to share stories and complaints but NOTHING WILL ACTUALLY BE DONE UNTIL REPORTED TO FDA. It takes many people reporting symptoms for Fda to even care or take notice. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY REPORTING TO FDA. Go to www.fda.gov/medwatch. It is really simple to do and this is the first time I have ever reported anything. (and first time I had any major drug reaction). It is also confidential.

My experience on this drug after only 3 doses was very scary. I hope I will feel better soon. It is 1 1/2 days now after last dose. I will try to report back on here when I am feeling better. The half life for the med is about 18 hours, which means by tomorrow I will still have 25% left in my system. I am hoping after 2 more days I will feel back to normal. I have had as much water as I can tolerate and took dandelion root to help cleanse my liver. Take care everyone and remember to report any symptoms you had to the FDA at www.fda.gov/medwatch

Update after removal a week ago:
Today is the first day I have had NO JOINT PAIN! I am so happy all the time, like feeling normal is euphoric compared to how I was before. I have so much energy.. I feel like running a marathon, and I am not a runner! My husband jokes, "I think you were right about the Mirena." Duh! I can't believe the answer to my agony was just around the corner... had I only known all these years that the Mirena was ruining my life. I feel alive again!
There is hope, ladies!!

I am a 48 year old female. I have been on lisinopril for about 7 months. When I first started taking it, I experienced seasonal allergy symptoms. I considered allergy tests, etc., but decided to tough it out. The cough started and persists. I have had the symptoms and they have finally subsided. I went to a N.D., and am taking herbal supplements along with a decreased dose of the lisinopril to wean me from it all together. I have had a horrible rash on the side of my face and neck for months. If I go outside, with a hat, long sleeves and sunscreen, the rash gets itchy and my whole face feels like prickly heat. I am an outdoors person. Today is the first day I haven't taken my decreased dose and I don't feel very good. I hope this is the right thing to do.

I've been having ringing in my ears (tinnitus) which started at about the same time I started taking Lisinopril. Has anyone else experienced this side effect?

I agree, for me this is a horrible drug! This is the 2nd time my allergist prescribed it to me (last time was this past summer and I had severe panic attacks and thought I was losing my mind) this resulted in me returning back to my GP and him putting me back on Paxil (which I had been off of for a year). I was extremely reluctant to use this again but thought i might be able to manage it this time (with the help of Paxil).

My allergist prescribed Prednisone to me 2 weeks ago (5mg 3x's day for 3 days then, 2 2x's day then 1 for 5 days) I made up until the last 3 pills. I had severe brain fog and felt like I was floating through space. I couldn't even remember driving to work and parking my car! Extremely fatigued (I have diabetes (which is under control, but I had to keep checking my bg because I thought my sugar was dropping to low). Now, within the last week of taking the Prednisone I have experienced aching in my kidneys and I think I have a kidney infection.

Can Prednisone do this to you??

I am calling the doctor tomorrow. Today is the first day without Prednisone and I feel like I am totally out of it - really spaced out, dizzy, panicky and a bit nausea.

How long does it take for you to get Prednisone out of your system?

Today is my ninth day coming off Toprol (had been on 25 mg for 2 1/2 years, then 50mg for 1 1/2 years) - today is the first day that the Dr. does not want me to take any Toprol. It has been SO DIFFICULT... Extreme chest tightness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, headaches. She has me switching over to Diovan (80 mg) which I have been taking for 7 days now. I want to believe that everything I am feeling is from the Toprol Withdrawal and not NEW side effects from the Diovan - but I am scared. I feel really awful, I have no energy. I lay in bed waiting for the bad feelings to pass and they do not. I have lost 7 pounds in the past (2) weeks. Not sure if it is from going off the Toprol - or just not feeling that well. This website has been my only source of sanity and peace. Anyone else gone off this and can tell me what to expect? THANK YOU!

I am 30 years old and I've been on Singulair for about 2 1/2 months now. I noticed about 2 weeks after taking it that I started getting a pain in the left side of my head accompanied with shortness of breath. Within weeks I started having rapid heartbeats, shortness of breath, dizziness and slight hallucinations (like shadows out of the corner of my eyes). I would experience these episodes for only about 5 seconds at a time. I also noticed that I my ears were ringing a lot, and I was having leg and foot cramps more frequently. At first I thought these were panic attacks because I am in the process of moving, and have been under more stress than usual. I now think it could potentially be a side effect from this medication. I woke up 6 times last night with all of the symptoms and was considering going to the emergency room. I am going to the doctor today to find out what is causing these problems and if it is related to singular. Today is the first day that I am not taking it.

In brief, I am a 35 year old mother of two. I have been suffering with endo since I am 14. I had a span of 4 years with no symptoms at all and in Sept. 05 I had a total hysterectomy for endo and cancer cells on my cervix. I recently spent a week in the hospital for 2 endometriomas which are on the one and only ovary I have left, they are both bleeding and my doctor whom I trusted and his colleagues recommended a 6 month depo-lupron injection treatment before they do surgery to fix up the endo, they are reluctant to remove the remaining ovary due to my age but I will INSIST until someone listens. They did not tell my husband or I about any side affects and because I was in a tremendous amount of pain and because I trusted Dr. Shine so much I accepted the treatment, they faxed my husband the prescription at his work and he had to go find it when he did finally found it he brought it to St. Marys hospital and the nurse injected me and 2 days later I went home, I was sent home with celebrex, iron pills and morpheine pills for the pain...well I was back in the ER 3 days later because the pain was unbearable, my blood pressure was high and I was going insane, I met with the gyno on call and she expressed her disgust with her colleague for not telling me about the side affects of lupron and how the drug worked. My first shot was on the 13th of April and today is the first day I am feeling human, I have little endo pain but let me tell you the hip and back pain are killing me slowly. I am a very active mother and wife and I play sports but even the thought of that now hurts. I have not been able to work and will not return until I feel good, I am REALLY scared of getting the next injection which will be on the 11th of may and my new doctor told me to go through with the treatment for the next 5 shots because even though it will not be easy she insists that it will help me and once I am done they will perform surgery, I have set-up 2 other appointments with specialists and my Family Doctor is the only one that has been there for me, he follows me daily and has set-up a bone density test. Is there anyone with similiar situation that can help me out. I have other side affects but the hip and back pain are the ones I will never forget, I think I would have 10 more births drug free then to have to experience the pain again after the next shot...

I have been taking lisinopril for just over a year now in combination with the generic form of ziac. Within the last week to week and a half, I have had terrible dizzy spells where I thought low blood sugar was the culprit. I have learned it low blood sugar isn't the case. I now have dizziness and extreme weekness where all i want to do is lay iin bed. Today is the first day I have not taken lisinopril. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the extreme lethargic reaction but most importantly, how long does the side effect stay with you once stopping lisinopril intake?

Coming off WB SR after 2.5 yrs. Started on prozac for depress, anxiety, PTSD. "stopped" working. Tapered off that & supplemented with Lexapro. "didn't work" so added WB SR, 300 mgs. I didnt split up taking 300 into 3-100s because I kept forgetting a dose, so my doc said better to take all at once than forget & mess up the chemicals all the time. I liked the caffeine effect. No hair loss, some headaches throughout, muscle twitches, shakiness, dizziness. At first didnt affect sleep; I took it at night, then I had to take it during the day cuz it was beginning to keep me up at night. When I missed a dose, Id enter a huge emotioanl rollarcoaster. When I skipped the Lexapro, no effect. SO, 2 mos ago I tapered off Lexapro. Expected w/d affects, but there were none. Now if I take the WB hours after I normally do cuz I forgot to take it earlier, there is no emotional roller coaster effect. Oh yeah-I started smoking & gaining weight since starting all these ADs. Now I am tapering off the WB. I feel OK and dont want this medication crutch anymore. My rape, & subsequent drop-out of college, which started my downward spiral are in the past now. Ive been in therapy for years and am very close with my therapists. I am getting more active in & support from my church as I get rid of my "crutches". I am quitting smoking at the same rate I reduce the WB. Tried to look up w/d symtoms for WB but this is the only place google came up with with actual information. I am grateful to you guys. Ive been off WB for 2 days maybe at this point and am completely exhausted and can sleep all day & all night. Today is the first day Ive been awake much of the morning. As another person mmentioned, my apetite is voracious-I am not feeling full until Ive had the equivalent of two meals, per mealtime! Sure hope this goes away, I'm at the heaviest Ive ever been. Also, all at once my allergy meds seem to have completely stopped working? Yesterday I sneezed every 5 min and nose ran and my nose is just rubbed raw. Today the allergies haev calmed down. Don't kniow what all thats about...Ive been walking the dog each morning, whom I got to help me feel happier, and he does. I started an online business to try to reduce the stresses of working outside of the home. It has its own stresses! But at least I have comforting things nearby...I would not recommend taking Ad drugs without therapy.
