I've been on Advair for 12 years.I'm 27 years old and fed up with all this medications that doctors prescribe. We are so brainwashed into thinking that we misbehave if we don't see a doctor.Let me tell you what: The majority of the doctors, only know to prescribe medication. They get bonuses from the pharma industries every time they prescribe their "new discovered"medicine.
Advair is supposed to be preventive, what you don't know it's for how long.Exactly!!!.....'cause it's not meant to cure Asthma, it's meant to keep you hooked for the rest of your life.
My worse symptom is a very fast heart beating.I'm a martial artist and every time i exert a fast burst of energy(while i'm sparring for example), my heart goes into pumped up mode.It beats very, very fast and i have to stop because it hurts.Sometimes i keep going no matter what and feel like i'm exercising for two people. When i stop, i breath very deeply for 5 minutes and all of a sudden it stops and beats regularly.
It's not fun, and one more thing: I'm from Argentina and my mom sends me the medicine from there cause it's way cheaper, sometimes i run out(i procrastinate sometimes), i'm left off with no medicine for a few days and boy.....I'm a wreck. The time you stop you go right back to where you started.I've been researching about an alternative to this "S***".I'm afraid 'cause i don't want to feel discomfort with my lungs anymore, but i strongly believe that there should be a natural alternative to all this laboratory drugs and i'm on a mission to find it.

My Mom started taking Avelox September 28, 2009. She took her first pill at 8:33 P.M. and within 25 minutes could not breathe. Her tongue swelled so much, that it pushed her dentures out of her mouth. Nothing alerts you to this in the side effects. She had no time to call her physician as she died. She had previously taken Cipro and Levoquin, so she had the false security that this drug was safe. It was not. No one should die like this!

I have been on the Yasmin now for nearly three months. I have no energy, chest pains, shortness of breath, tenderness of my breast, ribs and I feel REALLY TIRED even after having a nights rest. I thought this was perhaps after having a toddler and using my energy up during the day from lifting him and swinging him. I feel slightly anxious about different things in my life, sometimes depressed. I though my headaches and chest pains were stress/work related and so was the fatigue. I am popping vitamin tablets like it is an addiction thinking that if I don't have them I am going to feel WORSE( anxious/depressed). I also could not understand why I was feeling so nauseous and having stabbing pains in my stomach. - thought again this was just stress related - acid build up. I am going to see my Doctor today and get off this tablet!!!! I would rather have the odd pimple on my face than feel like this.

I had back surgery in July and caught two infections from the hospital, Staph and pseudonymous. I had a picc-line put in and was put on Cipro oraly and Ancef. I got Steven Johnson syndrome from the Cipro and almost died. I looked like a burn victim and swelled from head to toe that was three weeks ago. They pulled me off the Ancef and Cipro. It took a week of me running 103 + temps and the dr. kept telling me its a virous until the rash showed up and my tongue swelled and private parts and throat started to swell shut before they decided to admit me. Then once all that was done and they figured it out they put me on impernem to kill both infections. They pulled my picc-last week and put me on Doxycycline. I have done my research and know that the two are related I asked my dr. what the chances were of a reaction again he told me less then 1%. Ha! I am seeing an infectious disease dr. by the way. Since I started the Doxycycline last Thursday I have developed hives I called the dr. and was told they are not worried about it because I am not running a 101 temp and I am not swelling, plus they don't even know if the Pseudonymous is cured. What do I do? If I go off the antibiotics I will die and if I stay on them I am probably going to die. My joints hurt all the time now and I am only 31. Do I look for a new dr.? Can someone please help me? This is the only website I have found so far where people have had the same reactions as me. These antibiotics are dangerous they need to be taken off the shelf. Thank you and good luck to everyone who is struggling with this.

Horrible side effects!!! Was just put on a 7 day of 400 mg. of Avelox for a bad sore throat, sinus infection and bronchitis cough & congestion. After taking the first pill the only good thing the pill did was ease my sore throat so I could swallow without a lot of pain. But I starting itching on my stomach and noticed pink hives but didn't link it yet to the Avelox. So I continued taking them for the next two days and started itching more on my stomach and also now on my shoulder/neck area from these pink pimple like rashes. I also started noticing that I wasn't sleeping and I was waking up through the night to drink water causing me to have incontinence. I also started getting horrible headaches and very high blood pressure. I would wake up during my sleep with this lumpy swollen feeling in the back of my throat. Also, my tongue felt like it was burnt, numb and tingling. After taking the fourth pill and since it was the weekend and my doctor wasn't in and being stupid I continued taking the med. Now by Monday I was on my fifth pill and I noticed that all these symptoms weren't going away. So I called my doctor and told her I wasn't continuing the last two days of the pills because of what was happening. She told me I was having bad side effects to the med and to stop taking them. I will never take Avelox ever again....a horrible med!!!

I had a severe upper respiratory infection and regular well known antibiotics wouldn't kick it. I went back to the physician who prescribed Avelox. Within less than 2 minutes of taking the first pill out of the bottle I started getting sensations of bee's stinging my tongue everywhere and my lips were tight, purple and swollen. Within just minutes I started having a hard time breathing and the whites of my eyes were really bloody. Next thing I knew I could literally feel and hear my heart beat in my ears and everything sounded like I was in a tunnel. Within 5 minutes of taking the pill an ambulance was called and by the time they arrived my blood pressure was 70/16 with over 240 pulse.
When I got to the ER they said I wasn't the only one with the same issue to this drug and 3 were within the week prior to my being there. When I said I had SVT Supra Ventricular Tachycardia the doctor said people with SA Node (Natural pace maker of the heart) issues which control the magnetic aspect of your heart biting it sends something in there to screw it up and make it a big mess. I wouldn't suggest this med to anyone as I did some other research on it through the web and their reports from the FDA and there were some pretty NASTY side and long term effects of it.
Needless to say; since this happened I've developed a panic disorder and my nervous system isn't working correctly. Again; be careful what you take.

I have MS and had to do a course of prednisone steroids. I was very irritable and just felt plain crazy. I have been off of them for ten days and am experiencing really bad shaking in my hands and am often tongue tied. I guess it could from the MS attack but was wondering if anyone else was having these side effects.

My husband was given Levaquin and Prednisone in April for a bad chest infection. The last day of Levaquin, his knees began burning. He has been suffering with pain and cramps from his toes all the way up his legs. It has been in his fingers up through his elbows. He has shaking in his hands. He had an abnormal EMG. He has intermittent low grade fever. He started having trouble swallowing a couple of weeks ago. He now has to go to speech therapy because his tongue muscles aren't working correctly. He had none of this UNTIL he took this medication. The doctor now finally feels it is as a result of taking the Levaquin. The prescribing doctor had the nerve to lecture us about NOT stating he was allergic to the medication because he would be in the hospital with an infection otherwise. We are not returning to this doctor.

I have been taking 10mg of Lisinopril for the past 3 months and have decided to stop taking it. Initially, I thought I was side-effect free because I was fine for the first 2 months. But, over the past month, I have had a burning on my tongue that starts the same time every day. It makes my saliva and water taste like acid. Anyone else had this symptom? I guess it takes a while to get out of your system, so I won't expect it to go away immediately.

To everyone out there that has issues with doxycycline...
Now i fully understand the old saying that nothing is free in life.
I got it for lyme disease 7 days ago, and it was one of the free prescripts from my grocery store (great i thought). Little did i know how powerful this stuff can be. For the last week i have basically had severe headaches and wanted to give up on life. I didn't want to work out, didn't want to go to work, had chest pains, muscle spasms, and DEEP DEPRESSION....
now i know why this is free, because after it gets you so depressed, they figure your doctor will put you on something to get you out of depression, a money making drug. This is probably the meds talking still (i stopped yesterday after what felt like a complete and utter mental breakdown). Regardless of my silly conspiracy theory, i am glad i stopped taking it, and i hope that i start feeling like myself again.

I have been on Advair for about 5 months. It really controls my asthma symptoms well- I had wheezing with exercise and now can run without wheezing. However, I am losing my voice. I feel like I have to strain to speak and this leaves me out of breath, which is a problem since I teach 3rd grade for a living! I also have a chronically sore throat and a white coating on my tongue and throat, despite rinsing my mouth and brushing my tongue after using the Diskus. I am torn about what to do because I hate the asthma symptoms I had but I hate these side effects just as much!

I have been taking this medicine for three years. This morning I woke up and my right upper lip was completely swollen. While at the ER, the doctor said that it was a common side effect--even if the person had taken it for a prolonged period of time. I had to go back to the ER about 3 hours later because my mouth became even bigger! As I was checking in, a nurse looked at my mouth and said, "Oh, you take Lisinopril, right? I see that reaction all the time here, plus, I had it myself." The second Dr. came out and told me my airwaves and oxygen were okay and that I was just going to have to wait it out (they had earlier prescribed me Benadryl and a steroid). Then he explained he had to stop using the medicine himself because is tongue became swollen. This is a common occurrence. And if you are like me, you assume if you are going to have a reaction to a medicine, it's going to be rather early. This side effect can take time before it shows. Be careful, apparently it is a very common incident with this drug.

I am so glad I found this posting! Hi everyone my names Vanessa..I am 20 years old and was prescribed doxycycline for mild adult acne in Jan..5 months ago...and never knew how much the side effects change someones lives. Experienced: insomnia, nightmares, hot/cold spells, difficulty breathing, paranoid, swollen face and tongue, crying spells, severe mood swings, inability to concentrate, weakness, fatigue, suicidal, shakiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, feeling outside of my body.....it wasn't until I started to stop drinking coffee and drinking loads of water and exercising..that I realized it was the doxycycline side effects. I would wake up have a good breakfast....and water....than take the pill and start to get blurred vision...shaky..feel depressed. and confused...than I would start drinking more water and trying to sweat (knowing that water flushes toxins out of your body and sweating) and by 2 ish? the side effects subsided...and I could see clear. Today my first day not taken the pill...and from what I read it takes a few weeks to get it completely out of your system. But I get a kick out of doctors who prescribe all of these medications to people thinking it cures things..not realizing that it really can disrupts someones lives who's sensitive to medication.

I also tend to burn easily, my skin is extremely sensitive to any chemicals, now as well.
i have also gained 10 lbs, ...

I initially went to the doctor requesting my ADHD medication and within 10 minutes of talking to this guy he tells me I don't have ADHD and proceeds to tell me I'm bi-polar. I'm 30yrs old and was placed on 80mg/daily 40mg in the a.m. and another 40mg before bedtime. I was on this medication for 2 1/2 days and was taken off of it due to involuntary mouth movements followed by episodes of dystonia (neck, eyes, mouth and hands for hours at a time)...it was almost as if I was having a seizure without swallowing my tongue. I also experienced very blurred vision and now when I'm speaking to someone I feel like my brain went for a walk because sentences don't come out right and I find myself struggling to make rational decisions. I have now been off of it totally for 3 days and I'm still experiencing the blurred vision and I had 20/20 vision prior to taking this drug, The doctor wants me to try Abilify but the side effects of that drug are very similar to Geodon, I'm literally scared to even pick this up from the pharmacy and give it a try. My pupils are very dilated, I don't know how long this is going to last but it's affecting my job (meaning I haven't been to work in a week because I can't see straight. If anyone is experiencing the same issues after being off the medication for a while...can you tell me how long I am to expect this to go on.

Six hours after taking my first mobic pill my face turned beet red along with my ears. Then my back and chest broke out with either rashes or hives. Then my face started to swell. Had to start taking benadryl immediately. Fortunately my tongue did not swell so I did not have to go to the ER. Following day the itching and rash were gone and most of the swelling in my face. Still had terrible bags under my eyes. I have taken other anti inflammatories with no problems, but my body does not like this drug.

Metallic taste, loss of taste: A few weeks after beginning my once/month Boniva dosage, I lost my full sense of taste. I now continuously have a sort of metallic taste in my mouth, a combination of salty/bitter tastes, and have lost the 'sweet' tastebuds. Further on the back of the tongue I still have some taste, but it is not what it was before. It's a personal loss, as I used to have very sensitive taste buds, this loss handicaps my ability to cook well, and I had been a very good home cook. I still retain a full sense of smell.
I have been on Boniva for about a year and a half, my doctor says she's never heard of anyone losing taste sensations as a side effect of this medication. I'm too concerned about possible osteoporosis, as I have osteopenia, to discontinue the drug for this alone. Has anyone experienced this side effect, is it permanent, or does it disappear if the drug is discontinued?

I thought that all the problems I've had the last 3 months that I've been on Yaz were unrelated....I thought between stress, IBS, my job as a teacher, and being a single mother, that all my problems are just stress. I've been on the pill for three months. I am taking the pill to help with adult acne and mood swings. I really think that it has helped both of those things. However, the last month I have noticed some symptoms and I think that maybe I can tie them all to yaz???? Here's the list:
Headaches
Weight gain
Muscle cramps
Extreme GI problems (worse than my normal IBS)
Blanking out (short time frames where I do weird things and I don't remember them). Is this a symptom? I haven't read about this one. I'm scared to death I have some mental disease or something! Anyone else have this problem? I am so scared that I've lost my mind and have gone crazy.
Night mares
Anxiety
Panic attacks (I think)
Abnormal heart beat

ALERT!!!
If you have been having any one of these side effects, then AcipHex may be causing nerve damage.
-- tingling or numb hands or feet
-- confusion / "fuzzy head"
-- ringing in the ears
-- vision changes
-- anxiety
-- depression
-- apathy
-- fatigue
It may be serious. In my case it certainly is. I can barely use my hands. Why it happens:
AcipHex cuts down on stomach acid. Sometimes it cuts down too MUCH acid. In that case, you are unable to break down animal products enough to absorb vitamin B12 from it. Without vitamin B12, your nerve sheathing erodes. My advice would be to stop AcipHex and get a good vitamin B12 supplement (sublingual -- the type that dissolves underneath your tongue, and at least 1000 mcg). I would also advise to get the book -- Could It Be B12? By RN Sally Pacholock. Before starting supplements, insist on a urinary MMA test. It is the only B-12 test that does not give false positives or negatives often.
This book has literally saved my life.

Lumps under the skin all over my body and severe pain that feels like it is under my skin--like I've been skinned and the skin just laid back down raw and bruised feeling. I have to take time-released morphine for this pain and no doctor can explain the lumps other than to say it might be a side effect of the prednisone. I have never heard of anyone else having these lumps and skin pain, though. One post I read said their tongue was sore, which mine also gets when I take it.
One thing I want to emphasize is that the last time I read the printout that comes with an unopened new bottle of prednisone and that the pharmacists don't give you unless you ask, it said that the newest research suggests that you take the prednisone only EVERY OTHER DAY. Some symptoms may become a bit worse on the day off, but unless you are dealing with a potentially lethal disease, this keeps your body on its regular rhythm of making its own form of prednisone and thus prevents many of the side effects. I have been back on prednisone for 3 months now with the new one day on, one day off schedule, prescribed by my pulmonologist, and have much less of the side effects--no ravenous appetite and thus no weight gain, no swelling, no "moon face" and my lungs are still functioning much much better.
Please ask your doc about this or get the info sheet from the pharmacist (it is the very long one on tissue paper, not the one-page info sheet they are now giving us with each Rx.)

I don't know if my problem is from Aciphex or GERD or possible ulcer I'm going to be tested for in 2 weeks. I have awful tingling/burning in my tongue and gums. It's horrible. Began at the same time I started Aciphex a few weeks ago. Had taken Aciphex before with good results. I don't know what this burning is about, but have to stop Aciphex for 2 weeks before being tested for ulcer. I'll advise if symptoms stop with stopping the Aciphex. I also have metallic taste in mouth.
