Toporal symptoms and conditions

Over the 5 years of 50mg Toprol starting out to 200 mg Metoprolol.Over the years I have had the weight gain,losing weight is difficult,tiredness, muscle aches,anger,anxiety, weeping, feeling not in control, bad dreams, spiders on the wall. Which it totally out of character for me. Doctor upped it to 200 mg a day which has totally intensified all the above, I thought it was my age,hormones etc... never thought of these meds.
I am so glad that I came on this web sight and realized people are going through the same horrible side effects that I am going through and feeling alone and I am not going out of my mind.
I need to get off this ,plus I am on benicar/hcz. My Blood Pressure is very difficult to bring it down. Dr's just prescribe and practice its like a spit in the ocean-some meds work and some do not. It is finding the right combo meanwhile we all suffer...

38y.o F taking toprol 100mg once a day for hypertension x 15mths History of Hypothyroidism which is controlled w/ synthroid and closley monitored w/ lab work.
Experience weight gain, unable to lose weight w/ diet and exercise including w/ a nutrionist and personal trainer. Hairloss, lack of libido, chronic joint pain, swelling in hands and ankles/feet, back pain and/or muscle aches, lack of interest in everything, no energy. Major swelling after high sodium intake. Ear drainage, tingling of extremities especially in feet and fingers, visual disturbances. Blood Pressure is okay.
Has anyone experienced an improvement since they've stopped using toprol?

I have only been on Toporal for about a month, 50mg/day. My B/P is now stable, but I am having intermittant chest pain that travels down my arm and into my jaw. I am a 50 yr old female in good shape. I can say that I feel some anxiety daily and that is not normal for me. I have not noticed a weight gain, yet my doctor called today to tell me my potassium levels are too high. Has anyone else experienced this from this drug?

My husband just started taking toporal 50 mg only on it 4 days, the comments we've read are scary and wanting to stop taking right away, any input on stopping it after only 4 days, he is allready having some side effects. Less than one month ago my husband started experiencing shortness of breath and muscle pain in chest, this was befor any meds and he never has had any problems befor, he never had high bp befor either, one trip to er and one dr visit later. (all ekg ,stress test normal) and was perscribed toperal.

I take 50 mg of Toporal daily. Since May 1st, I have been admitted to the ER 3 times for Heart attack like chest pain. After reading others problems, I truly sympathize. Metalic taste, severe chest pain, mood swings, always tired. My doctor has taken me off of Lipitor as the answer for the above symptoms. Guess who I'm calling the first thing in the morning!

I have been on Toporal for a little over one year...for the last 10 months I have been in severe pain..the pain is in my ribs and my back...I can't lean forward or sit up straight..I have had every test in the book..and nothing is showing up...told my doctor about Toporal side affects I found through these discussions...she lowered my dose ..so far..no relief..actually I have been in worse pain,,since she lowered the dose from 50 to 25mg........Does anyone else have horrible rib and back pain?? I am a teacher and this is really interfering with my life.....

I am 73. Have tacky and sick sinus syndrone. Taking Toporal 50 mg. since November 04. I have been so sleepy and tired during the daytime. I am cutting my 50mg tab to 25mg. and begin to take it in the pm. I also have weight gain, feeling of wanting to cry and in general not caring....I am also taking amiodarone-200 mg., synthroid 25mg. and norvasc 2.5 . Too much! Illena

the doctor just increased toporal from one 50 mg to another 25mg. I feel very tired which lasts about 3-4 hours. I take a total of 10 pills as result of all my previous operations I do lead a very active life and like to work out at the fitness center. I am all of 77 years old

Ive been on Toporal for over a year....at first all it did was make me so sleepy, so I started taking before bedtime which worked......now ive started with shaking in my hands sometimes where I cant even write my name.....I love quilting and sewing but for the last few months Ive had to stop.....between the nausea, itching lack & desire of having any kind of sex and some weight gain Ive had it with this medication.....I was put on it for my blood pressure......which really hasnt improved that much........and now I hear horror stories about being taken off the drug can reallly cause other problems.......boy if I knew this before taking the drug you can bet I wouldnt had........thanks for listening.

FATIGUE,MUSCLE ACHES,HEADACHES,DIZZYNESS...BEEN TAKING TOPORAL ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW..DON'T KNOW IF SIDE EFFECTS IS TOPORAL OR NEXIUM

My husband is on Toprol and he is depressed and has pain in back,shoulder and arm. He also has lost all strength in left hand. He can't even take his wallet out of his pocket. Is this from Toporal? He also has no sex drive. I can't get him to believe it is from the drug. The Dr. said it's Arthritis.
