I took Levaquin 3 times for 10 days each time over 2 or 3 years. I am not exactly sure as I'd have to backtrack my records. It was for a stubborn sinus infection. (BTW, it didn't help) Is it possible that now, 2 years after taking it, that my tendons are 'tight' and sore from the drug? I have been complaining that they feel like tight springs for months, totally inflexible. I didn't know about this, so I decided to really stretch them. I did 4 squats and the next day, my R knee was blown up. I got an MRI which showed a torn meniscus from doing the squats. Since then, I've discovered what Levaquin does. Could it be that my tendons were so tight, that they didn't give, but the pressure from them being so tight could have put so much pressure on the meniscus, that it tore?

Had a cortizone shot in the instep of my foot, which I have had every 7 months or so and been great! This time on June 4th, 2008 had the shot again and walked out and my foot became so swollen and painful...went home and iced it but the swelling did go down some with the ice but then began again when the ice was off. In August, my foot was still somewhat swollen an painful when walking and I also have a torn meniscus in the knee of the same leg as the foot problem. Doctor gave me a shot in the knee but the foot is still swollen and painful...doctor says I have arthritis. Wonder if I need another cortizone shot in the foot?

I had a shot of Kenalog into my knee for a torn meniscus. About 2-3 hours after the shot, I started feeling very jittery and nauseous. Had to have someone drive me home from work. Called the doctor who administered the shot and he said it had nothing to do with the injection. Within 1 hour I barely had any strength to lift my arms. Called my primary doctor and she said to come right over. She said my heart murmur which is usually very soft and can barely be heard, was quite prominent now so she did an ekg, took blood and urine. The next day she called and said my sugar level was high. I had fasting blood tests taken 2 months earlier and never had a problem with my sugar level. Four days after the injection, I got my period so heavy (I'm 53 years old and before the injection my period was almost stopping). I have never in my life had a period this heavy. Neither doctor will admit that it had anything to do with Kenalog, but I'm certain it did. If this shot gave me diabetes, I will never forgive myself for getting it done... But, funny thing, the shot actually helped my knee and I can walk without pain. I'd rather have pain in my knee than diabetes and heavy periods.

I went back to my PCP today. Yes the one that gave me the Levaquin. He was very nice and even agreed it was the Levaquin I took back in December. He said that these types of side effects we all are describing are RARE (I would have kicked him for all of us, but my legs hurt to bad).

But he did acknowledge pain and my symptoms (listed in my December post) and prescribed me Prednisone for my ligaments and Lyrica for my nerve pain. He also said it was going to be a long haul. I know that some of you are dying to telling why these meds are bad too, but I am going to try it because I haven't really been out of my bed for two weeks.

I just wanted to let you all know, that maybe some doctors are starting to listen... and that we should keep speaking out and warning others about the HIGH risk of our side effects.
