PEOPLE, PLEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUE THIS MEDICATION SUDDENLY, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS!!!
I have been reading about this medication here for some time, and I feel concerned when I read about someone deciding to just quit taking it suddenly. I personally intend to quit as soon as I find a doctor with enough knowledge to help me wean off of it in a safe manner. I've been on it for two years, and the side effects have grown worse than my original health problem, so I understand wanting to just up and quit taking it, but after learning the hard way, I've found out it's not so easy.
Do your homework, read and learn about the potential 'rebound effect' and by all means, talk to your doctor before doing something that may cause you to be in danger ( as in having a heart attack)...if you don't believe me, learn for yourself, the information is easily researched.
Blessings, and good luck...

Prescribed for adult acne problem which started around the age of 40. Had one go at it over the winter and found it very effective in curing my skin. However I am an outside worker all be it in Scotland, with a second go prescribed in June. This was a different experiance all together with I guess the sun. I now have what can only be described as water blisters under the skin on my nose and just below my lower lip line. These can be so sore like as many others have described a burning stinging sensation that can come on for hours and then just go. Although they are noticable on my nose as any alteration in temprature makes them very noticable by a deep redness circling each blister. Have also entered into a very low feeling which could be the start of slight depression although not totaly sure, just always seem to have very low points in my day to day life that I never had before. These blisters are still there and burning even after two weeks of not taking this medication of Doxycycline 50mg capsules. Would appreciate any helpful advice or an idea if the burning blister ever goes away? Thank you.

Taking Topamax for 2 years started out at 25 mgs 3 times a day for a mood stabalizer (bi-polar). Had tingling in hands and feet sometimes in face. Lost waight, pop tasts nasty, sleepy, short term memory loss, slurred speach. Now I take 100mg at bed time have no symptoms except I still am able to controll my eating (had a problem with over eating) no more road rage but I still felf a little depressed and did cry so I was not to stable until Citalopram 10mg at bedtime and Adderall XL 10mg in the morning was added. Now I finally feel like a totaly normal person. No more anxiety, mood swings, crying, paranoia,or any other weird stuff. I feel pretty good. Rarely I get pins and needles in my hands or feet or I forget where I put something.

I had been using the nuvaring for a year when I started noticing side effects. At first I thought it was just me adjusting to a new partner, or that it was a yeast infection. But then it returned at the same time during each of the next three months. A few days after I took it out, the skin of my vulva would become sensitive and itchy, somewhat swollen or red, and it became difficult to use my keeper (a healthy alternative to tampons). But a few days after the ring went back in it would go away, only to return again. Well, my skin became so sensitive, that my vulva actually tore- almost an inch gash- when I was having sex with my boyfriend and blood was everywhere. I promptly went to my gyn, who had no immediate idea as to the cause of this sensitivity. There are a few possible skin conditions, such as lichen sclerosis, but the thing that stands out is that it happens at the same time each month. My Gyn also said that lack of estrogen can cause the vulvar skin to thin, which would make sense then since it happens when the ring comes out. Perhaps, she said, my body has stopped compensating by creating its own estrogen when on the nuvaring, and the nuvaring is not an adequate replacement. Anyway, its a possibility that the problem is unrelated. i am going for a biopsy tomorrow. But have already comitted to never using the Nuvaring ever again. And my boyfriend is totaly supportive of leaving hormonal contraception behind!

Late in January 05 I was admitted to the hospital for severe ITP (low platelet count). They first gave me prednisone in my IV, then each day after 80mgs. I returned home 14 days later on a daily 80mgs for three months. I had isomnia and had no strength at all and just felt like a totaly different person. My platelets stabilized around 190 thousand for a few months. I was weaned off it completely. Then my platelets started to go down again. My Dr. put me back on 30mgs of prednisone. The second time around with a smaller amount is worse than the first time with the larger amount. I'm now down to 20 mgs and I have a deprresion now with low physical strength and can barely get throgh 8 hours of work. I feel an inner anxiety that I hate with no appetite. Prednisone probably helped me with my platelet count but who knows, they gave me other things, but I really hate prednisone and can't wait to get off it so I can begin to feel like a normal person. I'll tell you it's impossible to feel right when your on prednisone.

I'm 78 years old and in fairly good health, considering. Began taking Lipitor, 10 mg daily, nearly six years ago. Lowered my cholesterol nicely, thank you, so I ignored a buddy's warnings about statins in general, not bothering to check the Net. Finiished a strenuous home project last July and then in August, I noticed an unexplainable loss of strength in my leg muscles. I commented on it to a number of people, thinking I must be aging in spurts. I was experiencing problems getting out of my car, off the commode, out of chairs, etc.. Then, the first week in December, I woke in the middle of the night with my left leg, from the knee down, in totaly excruciating paing. I got into my Family Physician the next day, he had lab work done. Saw him two days later, all a big mystery, but he thought perhaps gout. He did give me a prescription for vikadan, which helped alleviate the pain. Things settled down somewhat, but I was even less capable of getting to my feet and was obliged to walk with a cane. I saw the Gout Doctor last week and after checking me over, he wasn't certain the problem was gout. The following night, my left leg blew up again and thank God for the vikadan. Then I finally got smart and check the Web and there's no doubt in my mind now that Lipitor is the source of both my loss of strength in my leg muscles and in the extremely painful episodes I've been having these last several weeks.

65 year old female highly energetic with super brain functions.
Taken 20 mg lipator for 1.5-2years and definately noticed short term memory loss. Also had severe leg muscle cramps
like charlie horse in upper thighs, totaly excruciating pain. Stopped lipator for six weeks and cholesteral shot up to 290
but I feel great and energetic. Doc wants me to go back on
and recheck blood in 7 weeks. Will try 20mg every other day
and not let him know until blood results, otherwise I'm off it for good. I would rather die at 80 with a good functioning brain, then 100 like a zombie.Doc also said memory loss atributed to getting older and I said bull crap. I'm fine now and workiing full time as I was before even though things were not as sharp to me as now without the lipator. Will advise.
