I started using Fosamax two years ago and after approximately 18 months of use I noticed some distortion in my right clavicle (which I named my “barnacle) and pain in my upper shoulders and neck. At the time I attributed this to perhaps the heavy luggage I had been pulling around on a trip and that maybe I had strained something. I mentioned this to my doctor who ordered an x-ray which indicated an asymmetrical clavicle. She then ordered an MRI and the result was that perhaps I had a touch of arthritis. I asked her if perhaps this “barnacle” could be a result of the Fosamax I have been taking. She was very doubtful about that. I then googled Fosamax and started reading some of the side effects of this drug – NOT GOOD!! I did not see any mention in the comments by others who have been taking Fosamax about bone growth, but I did read about bone and joint and muscle pains. I had never had a problem and I am certain that the sudden pain in the shoulders and neck is a direct result of this toxic drug. I saw the doctor again and told her that I wanted to stop taking Fosamax and told her about the comments that I had been reading about and I claimed that this distortion in my clavicle and pain in the shoulders, etc. was the result of this drug. She then ordered a bone scan and additional x-rays which indicated again an “asymmetrical” clavicle and the suggestion was that I see an orthopedist. She mentioned that she had once had a patient who had a similar distortion of the clavicle and was sent for all sorts of tests, ending at the orthopedist who did a biopsy which turned out normal. I told her I was not interested in going to see one. I said I would stop taking Fosamax and see what would happen. She did order a blood and urine test checking for cancer, both of which turned our normal. I have not taken Fosamax since the end of June and already I have noticed a lessening of the pain in my shoulders and neck. Hopefully it will stop completely once this toxic drug is out of my system. I am an otherwise healthy 64 year old woman, I exercise, and eat a well balanced diet. I will take my chances with brittle bones, etc. and advise others who are taking this drug to get off it immediately.

my son was prescribed Singulair melts to put in food for allergies. on day two he has developed a cough that will not stop, a fever and was up before the sun this morning also a bad dream last night. after giving him Tylenol for the fever and Elysium for the cough it hit me that he just finished antibiotics so i checked the web for side effects. i was never told by our family doctor about ANY side effects. i am outraged and he will not be taking this toxic drug ever again. i know my experience is small compared to most of the other stories on this web page but these are our children, our pride and joy why do we want to give them toxic drugs for a runny nose or sneezing and in return we get sleepless, cranky, devil children with night terrors? i think something should be done to stop this drug from being given to any child. what kind of world do we live in? i am appalled at the doctors for letting this happen.

In July of 2005, I was prescribed 14 doses of Levaquin 750 mg for a bad case of viral pneumonia and mononucleosis. After two days of insomnia, I developed extremely painful feet, especially the bottoms of my feet. Last month (Aug 2007) I was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis of the Hip, and just had my right hip replaced (total). At age 45, I am fairly young to have developed such an ailment and other than July of 2005, have been healthy and active my entire life. In retrospect, I am beginning to wonder if Levaquin caused my avascular necrosis, as the doctors are at a loss.

Been taking statins for several years and have put up with the muscle aches and general feeling of unwellness for some time now. Took myself off Lipitor 20 mg dose this week after having investigated side effects. Why does it take years of people suffering through these side effects, poisoning their body for someone to come up with a better, less toxic drug. My mother has been on statins much longer than I and has all of the classic symptoms:hair loss, tinnitus, weakness, muscle pains, loss of balance, pains in her head so sharp she says it's like someone's sticking a knife into her. Unfortunately, she comes from a different generation that doesn't dare go against her Drs. advice and will probably suffer these side effects to her grave.
Looking now for an alternate, with my family history of cardiac problems, thought I was doing something good for myself by taking Lipitor. Started taking garlic pills but would welcome any safe alternatives.

A recent post stated that this site has been a "collecting pool for side effects", which begs the question is that not exactly what this site is for? If you notice the link states that sending a post here is for ADDING an additional adverse drug reaction to this never ending list [specifically "Add Side Effect"}. I do not believe it was intended for any "positive" reports as they would NOT be considered an adverse event. One would also have to question as to "WHY" someone who has had a positive experience to a drug would even bother to research it. It has been my eperience that only those who are suffering would be motivated to do so. Perhaps such post are being generated by those who would profit from the sale of such a toxic drug. Something to consider when reviewing this list of post marketing reports contained herein.

My husband had a 102 degree fever after taking Zithromax for 5 days. We went to an immediate care facility where the young medic sent us to the emergency room for a chest X-ray. He prescribed this awful drug. The side affects include the nasty metal taste, extreme exhaustion, trembling, nightmares, cold sweats and now, on day 10, thrush with swollen tongue and feeling just plain horrible. It is outrageous that drug companies are allowed to promote their new products without regard to the consequences. My husband has other really significant health problems and 1 year ago finished radiation therapy. He did not need this exposure to a toxic drug! Plus it has not cleared up his respiratory infection. If his symptoms from this drug remain long term, I will certainly persue this legally.

I agree with the statement that another poster listed below: "Pharmaceutical companies are out of control, pushing new and expensive medications on doctors and then onto unsuspecting patients."

A curse on the drug companies!
