I've had numerous side effects from Synthroid, but the ones that finally scared me off the drug were the thoughts of death, dying and suicide.
These thoughts came as casually as thoughts of what I'll wear tomorrow, which was more frightening. They also came unbidden. First, I was thinking about death generally. About a month later, I began thinking about dying, and the whole process of dying. Then, when I started thinking about just walking in front of a train, I got on the Internet and did some research.
Synthroid was the only medication I take daily, so I stopped taking it at once. And about a week later, the thoughts of death, dying and suicide stopped. My doctor refuses to prescribe natural thyroid, so I'm out of luck until I find a doctor who will help me.

I took Levaquin for 2 1/2 days for walking pneumonia. I had to lay down for no less than 5 hours after taking it. It made me crazy while I was on it. i would be speaking to someone and just like that, I had no idea what I was taking about. First night my boyfriend found me outside on the sidewalk in my underwear trying to figure out how to clear my throat. Next day I'm told I went to work and then just walked out in the middle of a class and got on the wrong train. I have no memory of this whatsoever. That night I slept in front of the refigerator because I felt I had to for some unknown reason. Next day I went to the doctor and told him what happened and he said he didn't think it was the levaquin. I thought for sure it was so I told him I wouldn't take it and seemed a little miffed. He's not my doctor anymore. I know it was the levaquin especially after reading all this.

Im so happy I found this site, as I too thought I was alone in this. I really beg someone to tell me, oce they came off the pill, how long did it take for them to recover? and for their first period to come? I was on the pill for less than a year, and came off it in Feb 08. It's now Sept 08 and still have not had a single period since. My weight has been fluctuating ridiculously, and the mood swings have made me lose SO many friends its unbelievable. i don't have energy to do anything, ive it a total depression. Im begging someone to just tell me how long after they stopped did everything feel back to normal? im worrying as its been 6 months for me and still nothing!!

Hi, I recently went back on to YASMIN because I thought it would clear my face. However, it did the EXACT OPPOSITE. My face is a train wreck. My mood swings are horrible. I just got married, and all of the sudden, I can't stand my husband and want a divorce, and I have absolutely no reason why. I can't stand anything. Im so tired, hungry, depressed, my breasts are killing me, I just hate it! I am going to start taking the other birth control pill that I was taking. After reading a lot of these blogs, I am glad to know that I am not insane. I certainly feel like a wacko, and now I know why. I have never felt depressed or even anxious. My anxiety levels are through the roof! I am done with Yasmin.

Where should I begin? Yes, as it has been said everyone reacts to hormones/medications differently but how is it that I am finding all my symptoms on this board and there's plenty of other women out there feeling the same thing? I am driving my friends/family insane telling them that I think I'm pregnant. It's been nearly 3 months. since I last had intercourse, I haven't missed a period and have had TWO pregnancy tests come out negative! I started Nuvaring the 2nd of July (1st day of my period) and pulled it out by the 13th because I was literally SICK of it! Three days later I started my period again, horrible cramps and all. I had hot flashes throughout the day and night sweats in my sleep. I have felt bloated constantly, today I just noticed a tiny amount of clear discharge from my nipple when I squeezed it, horrible headaches that don't go away, nausea. Anything you would link to pregnancy symptoms, I've felt all of it! And my friends are sick of hearing me think I am, hell! I'm sick of thinking it. But as I've read on here, it seems even weeks after the Nuvaring has been removed women are still feeling out of whack. My only other option is to take blood test to confirm that I'm going insane and that this birth control really threw my hormones off balance. Oh yeah, and did I mention I've been suicidal lately? And have random bouts of crying or depression? This is just the beginning...so if anyone out there has thought they're pregnant because of this thing, you're probably not, but please let me know if you've felt the same, thanks!

Yasmin is a steroid so when coming off it you can suffer all the same symptoms as someone stopping a steroid drug... and by the way, when people are taken off steroids it's done in a controlled way - they cut down on them very slowly by reducing the dosage. It's a real shock to the body to just stop a steroid. This could explain why a lot of us feel so terrible when we stop taking it. I know I had a real increase in severity of symptoms followed by months and months of exhaustion and fatigue.

My 2 1/2 year old has been on Lactaid milk now for over a year. Just after her 1st birthday she began this mysterious vomiting all the time.
She did test positive for the rotavirus right around her 1st birthday but the vomiting and loose stools continued for nearly a year afterwards. So after numerous tests including a horrible one to test how much reflux she had (which came out as minimal) her docs said she must be lactose intolerant. We put her on Lactaid but the vomiting continued. It did get better but it didn't totally go away until just after her 2nd birthday. Then more than 8 months later with no throw up she came down with what I think was the 24 hour flu because she couldn't keep anything down for a full day. Took her to the docs and they said just keep her on liquids as much as possible to keep her hydrated since she also hadn't had a wet diaper in more than 12 hours. The next day she was better and finally had a wet diaper but now she complains of a tummy ache all the time after she drinks her Lactaid. At first I thought maybe it's a comfort thing since I held her so much when she had the flu but now I'm not so sure. She has been complaining now for over two weeks. The only other thing that is new for her is we are trying to potty train. She has woken up with a dry diaper for over 6 month now so we thought she would be ready. However, she is very reluctant and holds her pee for a hours after she wakes up dry. I do notice that she also has quite a bit of gas when she is complaining of her tummy hurting and her stools are firmer than they used to be. I thought maybe it was because I would buy generic Lactaid like one person mentioned but she complains even with the good stuff and even the new Organic Lactaid. She doesn't eat much dairy products other than milk. She doesn't like yogurt and rarely eats cheese and we don't give her ice-cream. So not sure what is going on?? That's why I was searching on the net and found this site. Hope someone has some suggestions for us.

I needed Metoprolol Tartrate for a very high heart rate for graves desease, I was in the 115's+ lowered too 8o beats per min. Which is great!
BUT, having some horrid side effects.
BAD night chills, intolerance to cold. Shake for 3+ hours then sweat. Feels like I was hit by a train after then I get very nauseasous and light headed
Sleep is bad, toss and turn all night and have a greater fear of the dark
ALSO, my bones hurt all the time!! Never did before, had tests done nothing there.
This is the only drug I could find that didn't make my heart flutter and feel all funky. Its a great drug for just that. All the side effects suck..bad

Folks, Lipitor is the most widely prescribed drug. People are blaming their various problems on lipitor. They should see the appropriate specialist to address their specific symptoms vs self-diagnosing and blaming it on lipitor.

Hi Ladies,
Same here. A week and 3 days post-removal. I feel a little better except for my period coming back. It started on Monday and stopped on Thursday. It was ok. nothing major. Then started up with full force again on Saturday night to Sunday morning. It is very clotty and very painful. It has taken a toll on my body. I was in bed all day Sunday. I don't feel like I have been run over by a train as before with the Mirena in place, BUT I feel the PMS raging. I have felt lightheaded and weak from so much clotting, but knowing that this too shall pass is such a great feeling! I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but my only worry is that my body will take a while to get back to normal. I have read other threads on other sites that say after 2-3 months, it all gets back to normal. maybe it depends on how long it was inside? I just wish it would disappear altogether. That IUD is awful! I still cant believe I suffered so much without putting it all together. They make you believe wholeheartedly that it is not the Mirena causing symptoms. Then how else could a normal, healthy woman begin to deteriorate so much?
I was again surprised to see one or two comments about how they feel like an 80 year old woman. That was my favorite line before I found this website. It was quite shocking. It felt like I was listening to myself speak! No joke. I would be asked how I was feeling today and I would respond with sincerity that I was feeling like I was 85 years old.
What bothers me the most is that I was a newlywed throughout this whole time. My marriage suffered and I thought it was me and that I had a bad attitude. I thought that I was just so tired and nobody understood me. Don't ask me how but my husband had a feeling it was the Mirena the whole time. I could not believe it! I am sure many of you feel cheated out of a year, two years or more of a good life and a good marriage because of this. It is frustrating to look back and see how it all played out. To think that now I am "recuperating" and getting "back to normal". We should not have been going through that in the first place and we should not be recuperating from anything. Our bodies can get back to normal, but it's that emotional roller coaster that stays with you. To me, it's lost time that as a newlywed forming a new family, I could have enjoyed with my husband and daughter being my loving self and not a mean, raving hormonal lunatic like I was. Yes, I still feel really bad about it all. Mirena is a nightmare. I am blessed to have a wonderful sweet and beautiful 4 year old and such a patient, loving husband. They both kept after me, loving me, even if I was turning into Oscar the Grouch.
Don't give up, ladies. Hang in there!

So nice to see that I'm not just imagining the adverse reactions. I've been taking Advair 250/50 for about 3 weeks now after being diagnosed with asthma/chronic bronchitis. I went back to my doctor the following week because I was still having chest pain, back pain, felt as if I still wasn't getting enough oxygen and mentioned that I was having a lot of difficulty with being jittery. He evaluated my breathing with a peak flow meter and since that seemed to be OK, he wanted to do an EKG - which he did and seemed to see something that warranted a referral to a cardiologist. So far the cardiologist has not seen anything out of the ordinary.
I'm thinking more and more that there is nothing wrong with my heart and that this is all being caused by the Advair. Has anyone else been referred to a cardiologist and found out nothing was wrong?

My 16 year old son took Levaquin 6 months ago and had a bad reaction to it. His symptoms were severe muscle weakness (he would get exhausted walking from the parking lot to a store and back, severe joint pain (in thumbs, wrists, elbows, knees, and ankles), dizziness (he felt like the room was moving away from him and would lose balance), and headaches (a severe pressure in the back of his head that was constant and then shooting pains in his his head that would come and go for no reason). I should say he was in top shape before this and wrestling in the 125 pound category. He took Levaquin to prevent an infection after sinus surgery.
Now 6 months later, his joint pain is completely gone except for his knees. They still hurt when he does squats and they are not good enough for him to go back to wrestling, but he can walk around pain free. His dizziness is also gone as well as his muscle weakness. His headaches are still there and still constant, but not as bad as they once were; however, he has had them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 6 months. He is on Lyrica which has helped make the headaches subside.
I have taken him to more than 16 medical doctors of all specialties, had multiple MRIs, CT Scans, blood tests, spinal tap, and an MRA. All come back negative. Thankfully, despite all of this, he still remains happy and positive that he will once again be 100% healthy; it will take lots of time, but he will get better. I know the first three symptoms (joint pain, dizziness, weakness) are clearly Levaquin related, but I haven't heard much about the headaches from people. Anyone else out there that has suffered from a constant headache after Levaquin? I REALLY want to hear about headaches from others!!!!
By the way, we have filed a medwatch already. I also know that Levaquin is not approved for anyone under 18 years old and he never needed such a powerful drug to prevent an infection, but there is nothing I can do about that now except to warn others. One of his UCLA doctors wants to write a case study on him to make this more known to others and I am helping him with that.
If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. If you have had a headache from Levaquin, please let me know where in the head the pain was, if it is constant, what it feels like (pressure, shooting, throbbing), how long you have had it, and what, if anything, helped. THANKS.

I have had flu like symptoms for about three weeks steady now. I have been on lisinopril for about 5 - 6 months. I have no energy and after reading some of the comments, I am definitely going to ask for a different bp medication. I had knee surgery about 3 months ago, and I thought my fatigue was due to that. I think the medication has gradually built up in my system. It ran a bell when someone else said, they felt they were run over by a mack truck.

Just started my six year old son on Zyrtec again. The dr. said he could take the adult pill now 10mg. The last few nights he has wakened with terrible nightmares/night terrors. And after reading these posts i remember taking him off for the winter (he was on the liquid 5mg) and i remember him always itching his arms and legs. i remember giving him oatmeal baths. Now i know it is from stopping the Zyrtec. I am calling the doc tomorrow about these nightmares. He was also on Singulair 4mg for 1 1/2 years then one year ago was upped to 5mg. Within one dose we noticed he was very depressed and cried easily. After a week called the doc about it, stopped it then had our son back in a few days. Will Never give Singulair again and now stopping Zyrtec. All these meds are so scary. A part of me feels these meds are created because it is a HUGE business. They have side effects then you have to take other meds for those side effects and it is a never ending circle i feel purposely created by pharmaceutical companys to make money. And we are all suffering because of their greed. Shame on them
