This is a total nightmare and i need advice! I was on Lamictal for a year and about six months into my health began to slowly deteriorate. It started with shortness of breath and heart palpitations and eventually attacked every system of my body. My symptoms are muscle pain, spasms and knots to the point that i can't turn my neck sometimes, joint pain (mostly knees), stabbing floating pain everywhere, headaches, frightening tingling in my extremities and a few times my entire body, sore throat, flu-like feelings, stomach cramps, bloating and heartburn. The list goes on. I have been off of it now for two weeks. My psychiatrist has never seen this type of reaction before and is not convinced it is the Lamictal. I have been to every single type of doctor and the ER twice, had extensive lab work, CT scan and two MRIs. I have been off Lamictal now for two weeks and am not feeling much relief. I am so scared and frustrated and please need advice. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it ever go away? I feel like I am literally living a nightmare with no-one to turn to for advice because no-one seems to know ANYTHING!!!!

I was on Lipitor for either two or three years, maybe more, can't remember, it was around 2003. About a year after starting the meds I started losing my balance, like my feet were heavy and wanting to not lift themselves up when stepping off a curb. I was in fear of falling. After being a professional dancer for many years and still having excellent muscle tone I was shocked by this muscle problem. Then I developed shooting pains in my thighs, and eventually I had an incident where my one leg just gave out and I couldn't walk. It was something in the hip/leg joint. Went to an orthopedic doctor, got x rays and m.r.i., he found nothing. I stopped taking Lipitor because I had spoken with other friends who were having leg pains. My regular doctor would not admit to anything wrong, just kept telling me I needed to stay on the drug, which infuriated me. He also kept blaming the muscle weakness and pain on my weight; which I have never had a problem with before.
The shooting pains in my thighs was all the time, including at night and woke me up at night. This was unreal. Even after walking miles I had these shooting pains, so it wasn't an exercise issue at all, but it certainly did deter me from exercising more often.
Now the pain and swelling is mainly in my knees. I can hardly walk, feel like I am crippled, and have lost my job over not being able to walk around and show apartments! I can't walk steps anymore at all, I am only 55 years old! No matter what I do, the pain and muscle weakness is progressing, I've seen a Chiropractor, a nutritionist, and now I'm going to see a Rheumatologist. I believe I have permanent muscle damage from this drug, no one can tell me otherwise.
Also, I have experienced the gradual increase of brain fog over the last two years. I am scared to death this damage is irreversible.

I had been taking Lipitor for several years and had many of the common problems listed as possible side effects, however, since bloodwork showed no liver problems my doctors kept me on the drug. In Novemeber 2005, I had a 'charlie-horse' so bad that it tore a muscle in my right leg.
I stopped taking the drug, but the damage was done! Since that time my condition has continued to go down hill and no doctor has been able to help.

I've been taking Januvia for 8 weeks, and have experienced muscle cramps with shock-like pain running down my leg into my heel; upper and lower GI spasms; night sweats with sleep interruption; and I gained 5 pounds in the first 4 weeks which I can't attribute to anything else. I've also taking metformin and glyset for several years, and although I've experienced the night sweats, they've greatly increased in intensity.

I am 48 years old and I have been taking Tricor for about 4 years. About 2 years ago my doctor added 10 mg of Lipitor. My cholesterol went from 235 to 145, however during the past 2 months I have started to develop joint and muscle pain in both my arms. I went to the doctor and he told me it was tendonitis. I felt that having it in both arms at the same time was weird. I have always been very physically active and have not changed my routine. Last weekend I stopped taking the Lipitor and I felt a little better. I took it again this week and the pain is back. My doctor told me it is not the Lipitor. I am going to stop it for a week a see what happens.

Constant cough with dry mouth, have phlegm that is difficult to bring up. I have Peripheral Neuropathy in both legs & treat it with Gabapentin, which gives me some relief, while taking Lisinopril, the Gabapebtin doesn't help me. When I stop Lisinopril, the Gabapentin works fine. I lose sleep & never feel rested when I take Linispopri. I also take Atenolol 25mg, Imdur 60mg, Gabapentin 300mg, 3 times daily,Simvistatin 40mg & Tricor 160mg tabs 1 time daily. I am a 75 yr old white male, retired since 7/93. I belong to a fitness center, & work out (treadmill, weights, etc) since the day I retired. I had a silent heart attack sometime before 1990. Heart Cath showed RCA 90% blocked, LCA 60% blocked.Collateral vessels keep me going.

I'm a 53 year old male,I've been a RN.on cardiac floors for almost 18 years. Prior to starting on lipitor I had been taking Tricor,at that time I started to have frequent chest pains,mid-sternal with pressure. I went for a CT of the heart, stress test,EKG and various blood test all came back negative however I continue to experience the chest pains. Finally I stopped the Tricor and the chest pains also stopped, just to be sure I started to take the Tricor about a month later at half the dose I was on originally, after only two doses the chest pains came back. Now I've started taking Lipitor(at this point I've only taken 7, 10 mg. doses) and the exact same type of chest pains have started again,I was on the verge of going to the ER yesterday. I stopped the Lipitor and the chest pain were almost completely gone today hopefully by tomarrow I'll be back to normal but it seems like the Lipitor symptoms are longer lasting plus I've been very sleepy and kinda foggy mentally.

i was prescribed tricor for my triglycerides after angioplasty. 10 mg zocor was added then 20 for about a year now. My hands are so cramped and the pain in my fingers is so intense that I cannot sleep. I can't lift or hold anything and typing this letter is very painful. I find it hard to even hold the steering wheel when driving. My hands are in so much pain that I am 1 day off of zocor and and praying for relief.

I have been on Tricor for about two years, but due to creeping up in my cholesterol numbers, my doctor has put me on Zocor, too. All has been fine for about six mos., but recently I have been having soreness in my upper arms/shoulders, which I attributed to having lifted something heavy and driving for a very long distance. However, that was over a week ago, and it has not gone away. In addition, my feet hurt all the time. It is the muscles in my feet and I have difficulty walking, after sitting for awhile. All I have read points to the Zocor, but I am wondering if the combination is the real problem.

I took Lipitor for 3-4 years, and it didn't seem to control my numbers. Sometimes up sometimes down. I am at 360 now.
I am a weight lifter , walk 10 miles a day and have had high numbers since 28, now 48.
After years with Lipitor I lost libido function. I was literally numb, no urge, a slight desire but no reation. 2 years off, and I am alot better though not as good as before.
Two Phara sales (relatives)people told me Pfizer has been settling out of court on this libido issue. Which gave me strength challenge the doctors choices.
Now they're trying to give me Tricor.

After taking 10 mg. Lipitor for a couple of years, although my cholesterol was down to 170 from a 239 high, my new endocrinologist raised it to 20 mg. then 40 mg. after which I began developing many symptoms (rashes, edema. etc.), the worst of which was and still is extreme pain and muscle weakness in my legs and feet. After I complained to my internist and the endocrinologist, the former tested me and said I do not have rhabdomyelesis (sp?) but the latter said blood tests for this are highly inaccurate and put me on other drugs: Diovan and Vytorin. To my astonishment, Vytorin contains 40 mg. simvastatin (Lipitor) and 10 mg. ezetimibe. My best reference book for pills is WORST PILLS, BEST PILLS, which saved me before when doctors put me on a variety of painkilling drugs, namely Vioxx, Celebrex, and Bextra. I ran very high BP and heart rate with all of them and simply tossed them in the garbage. Now WPBP says DO NOT USE Vytorin OR Diovan as well as Lipitor. But with Lipitor, how does one stop, once placed on this damnable drug? I have seen references to something called Welchol, Tricor and Lopid as being good substitutes (also old drugs like Questran and Colestid), but if we as patients have to argue with our doctors to have them take us off this dangerous drug, and they prophesy death by high cholesterol if we ignore their advice, just precisely what are we to do? Anyone out there have a solution? Has anyone simply stopped taking Lipitor and not died? Did the pain disappear? I am thinking about doing just that in order to find out.

I have been on Tricor for about 3-years to mostly help with my triglycerides and I've not had any problems with it but my cholestrol was still high. So, my doctor had me add Zocor 20mg too. I took this for about a month and from day 1, my stomach was upset. It felt like something was moving in it. Then a few weeks after taking it, my left side started giving me a dull, little pain that moved from the left side to the right side. Finally, I called my doctor about this and he said to quit taking it and call him in 5-days too see how I felt. Today is the 1st day I've been off of it and my stomach is fine but I'm a little shaky.

I am 55 years old. I had open Heart surgery when I was 41. In the last five years, my triglycerides where high. I was on, Lipitor, Tricor, Mobic.
-- By david529 | Reply | (2) replies | Private Message meI droped thr Tricor, because I went on line and learned you are not supposed to take tricor and Lipitor together. Lately I have had tingling just below my neck. I am feeling flu like symptoms the last couple of days for no apparent reason. I am weak, all my joints amd muscles ache. My Cholesterol is about 146. Well after reading all this I am going off this stuff today. Are these some of the symptoms?
Also in the last 2 years I have gone from a 8 and half size shoe to a 9 and half...like my feet have swollen.
