Hi, just wanted to give all an update....day 8 off the Doxy, by the end of the 6th day off the doxy, I began to get a clear head again....I would feel great, then all of a sudden a fog would come over me for about 5 minutes with ear ringing, and go away....this happened about 3-5 times...my left arm and left side of my face felt hot, but i did not have a fever....thats when I knew the doxy was leaving my system...day 7 i felt fine, but went into a slump...laid in bed for about 12 hours, I think this was due to still having no appetite and barely eating for 3 weeks, I lost a bunch of weight . I felt mentally clear finally, the bout of depression that the doxy put me in was lifting, but still felt physically weak. Today, I woke up feeling fine, ate a croissant for breakfast, forced 4 sliders down for lunch, and finally was able to eat some dinner. The good part is that another user on this board was kind enough to mail me letting me know that she went through the exact same side effects, and assured me that they would subside with time, especially the loss of appetite and depression/anxiety...takes about 2-3 weeks off the meds for everything to start getting back to normal....She also told me that the doxy has a very long half life...so it does stay in the system awhile....but im starting to feel slight improvements as the days go by...the bad news...i don't think the doxy cured everything. Im considering taking ionic silver instead of any more antibiotics....one other caution...beware of Levaquin...I was on this at first for 5 days along with the doxy, and that drug truly is (in my opinion) dangerous. I read some of the side effects people were having, including myself and was horrified....I thought something was weird when my middle finger on my left hand went numb for a day, left hand was warm, right hand was ICE COLD, sudden and sharp pains in the back, like I pulled a muscle, that left me unable to move for a few days, and severe diarrhea. Anyways, please feel free to mail me if you have any questions....support is the most important thing a person can have because of the fear and anxiety these drugs put you through.

I took Avelox for a sinus infection, and had the worst week of my life! It made me so thirsty, I had to have a bottle of water at my side constantly. I am a singer, and it dried out my throat and made my vocal chords swollen. Also, it gave me panic attacks, confusion and ruined the show I had to perform in. Next time, I will just live with the sinus infection. This was hell!

Crying, depression, hopelessness, feeling like i'm crazy because I start crying and don't know why, This drug sucks!!!! I have cysts and my doctor changed my birth control from Ortho Tri Cyl Lo to Lo-Estrin to Femco and I don't care if it does work for my cysts or not I feel as though I can't function properly because I'm an emotional wreck. I've never ever had this happen to me before.

Further to my previous post, I'm finding it difficult waking in the mornings, really groggy with puffy eyes when i get up and I'm experiencing a burning sensation in my feet when I'm in bed - like they're right next to a hot flames. It's truely bizarre.

I'm glad I came on this site.. My GYN gave me Femcon FE because he saw that I have a cyst on my left ovary. I hard horror stories about birth controls, like weight gain, acne, and nausea.. I am afraid of all three of those.
He told me to start taking them over the weekend and I asked him will there be any side effect and he told me that I would like the pill.. I just gave him a look and said I will be doing some research on this pill and if I read any stories about bad side effect I will not be taking them.
So thanks guys for your comments...
I WILL NOT BE TAKING THIS PILL..
I'll just wait for the cyst to disappear on it's own.

I have had Mirena for about 6 months now and I have been going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with me. To begin with I had an ovarian cyst, which my doctor insisted was not due to the IUD. I later find out it is a possible side effect of the IUD. As I am sitting here typing I am having lower abdominal pain and I feel completely bloated. I cannot wait until Monday I am going to request that my doctor see me immediately to remove this! I have had cramping, bloating, constipation, weight gain, irregular dishcharge, mood swings, and loss of sex drive. This has been hell for the past 4 months. Please don't have this put in and spread the word.

I have been taking Singulair for months now....and to be honest I think I am going crazy. After reading some of this stuff on here, I think I am going to quit using it for a couple days and see how I feel. As of now, sometimes during the day I get confused, dizzy, and feel like I am falling a part. I had a check-up on this back in Feburary and they said nothing was wrong with me. I then went to the ER shortly after because I felt really confused and fuzzy headed. They checked me out, took my blood, EKG, glucose tolerance test, and a CT Head scan.....all came back negative. I have been feeling the same ever since. I have recently made an appointment with a head shrink to talk about stuff...thinking it may be work related stress or anxiety. If it truely is the Singulair that is doing this to me, then I am going to be mad that I did not quit using it earlier. It almost feels like I have lost most of this year to a haze of thought....hopefully, when I quit the Singulair it will all go away....if not....then I must be going crazy.

I take 10mg Lipitor every day, I broke out with dark red itchyskin eruptions on ankle, stomach, and hip thin skin over eruption when it peels off there a large open ulcer like sore, takes many weeks to completely heal! Been to a dermatologist wanted to do biopsy on sores to see what it is, I have been taking lipitor for about 3 years. Never had out breaks like this before going on lipitor. Went off lipitor for about a month outbreaks stopped! Went back on lipitor outbreaks started again, anyone else had similar eruptions?

I've been using the NR for about a week or two now. I wasn't given a pamplet or even directions. Instead I recieved a sample from my GYN with little to no side effect information. I should have asked, but I was already asking a lot of questions about possibly losing it or having it fall out.
Well, I was dealing with heavy stress, constant crying over little things or nothing at all, total bi-polar syndrom or something! And when I cry, sometimes I cry hard enough to feel like I have asma or something. I can't breathe, and trying to do so makes me uncomfortably dizzy. I've been gaining weight, too! I was 115, now I'm 123. Though it's not much, looking at that extra weight in the mirror only causes more depression. Also, I've been feeling like I've had a yeast infection for a few days. But I KNEW it couldn't be. The symptoms were off. My discharge is as it should be, but the itching is intolerable. Then, the burning, painful sensation after sex was enough to drive any woman crazy! Now I'm too afraid to have sex, and I'm a very sexual person. My boyfriend is in complete disarray through it all and he has no idea what the hell is going on! I thought all this was simply results of moving out on my own for the first time, bills, not enough pay at my current job, hardly any food in the refridgerator, hardly seeing my family anymore. You know...the usual stress when you first leave the safety of your family and their money.
Then, I decided to check up online for the side effects or allergic reactions. I was sick and tired of not having the answers and waisting all the fluids I have on tears. I ran into this site, read most of the complaints and totally mirrored by all the same effects! Everything you all said sounded like I was reading something I had already felt and done. It's a real burden off my shoulders.
At this point, I can't handle more stress and hormonal inbalances. I already have too much on my plate. If side effects are truely supposed to stop in three months, I will continue on until I can't continue for that three month period. If nothing changes, I'm going to freaking rip this damn thing out of me and ask for another form of birth control! This is ridiculous! Thank you, all of you for finding the time to write out your symptoms. It's helped me out a lot!

Hello.

I have been taking topamax for bipolar II disorder. The first week or so, I experienced some very unpleasant side effects. I would become very disoriented while driving and get lost in locations that had previously been very familiar to me. I would also lose track of my thought process mid-sentence. An avid runner, I was unable to exercise for about a week. However, these side-effects have since subsided. I do experience a decrease in appetite, which is fine for now, but I'll have to see how that pans out in the future.

One thing I'd like to point out is that I would imagine topamax to be very unpleasant for somebody who does not have a mood disorder. I feel that it truely restrains my impulses (I suffer from impulse control disorder), and it has worked wonders for me in terms of my mental illness. I believe that topamax is a great alternative to some of the other medications for bipolar disorder in terms of weight gain. On the other hand, I think that those who do not require psychiatric attention would be better off with a drug that does not serve as a mood stabilizer.

That's just my opinion. Good luck!

I am 21 years old and have two children, I have been dealing with endo for about 3 years now, I have tried it all, I have used every type of birth controle there is out there, I have had 3 laprascopic surgeryies to try and remove it, I have tried hormone pills, a lupron nasal spray, and now the lupron shot, this is my last resort short of a hystorectomy.....the endo pain is truely unbearabel for me....but since getting the lupron shot I have had hot flashes, mood swings, bone and joint pain, migrains, night sweats, memory loss and a rash....I hardly can work because of the side effects and am on the verge of losing my job, mostly because I have so few "good" days since starting this shot about a month ago, my fianc'e and I argue alot now....mostly because he doesn't seem to be able to understand what I am going through.....if you are going to be put on any hormonale therapy please just make sure you do your research....I am also taking the add back therapy which seem to be of no help.....good luck...

I was prescribed Levaquin 750 for 5 days and only realized it when I went back to the pharmacy as I could not read the doctors writing on the script. I recalled my sister having a very bad experience with this drug hallucinating, as well as being disoriented. I took one before I confirmed with her this was the drug she had problems with and my heart rate has shot up to 110 per minute normally 78. I am on blood pressure medication which I took after the Levaquin about four hours so I hope it counteracts it. The doctor was told of the medication and conditions I have and went ahead and gave it to me anyway.Needless to say tomorrow I am calling the DR and asking for someting else. The public truely are the pharmacutical company guinea pigs.

I am a singer and i'm concerned about the effect if any
advair will have on my voice. However, I've been coughing for years. I've taken Advair off and on for about the last 5
years. I was officially declared as having Ashma about 5 years ago. When the coughing gets out of hand, Advair seems to do the trick. I'm really pretty anxiouis about taking it consistently(I never have). I will take 2x a day when my
coughing is really bad. It was keeping me up at night,
and working was really difficult. I was truely wore out
every morning and it's impossible way to live--tired most all
the time and coughing your like I'm gonna cough up a lung.
I've never smoked in my life.

I've been taking Advair 2x a day for about two weeks,
and yes I don't go thru the night coughing. I'm still coughing some but as the medication gets in my system I'm really coughing much, much less. My co-worker have noticed that I'm coughing less and have asked me what medication I'm using. However, I don't sleep well at night, I mean it's really difficult for me to get to sleep. I'm very wakeful at night.
It's ether take Advair and no coughing, but it may be hours before I get to sleep. Has anyone else had this problem with not being able to sleep as a side effect of taking Advair?
I'm afraid if I don't stop coughing it will take a toll on my voice.

To Guest # 31978 that just posted on November 1st......I had 12 shots of Lupron and am pretty much a pro....I am so glad I went through this treatment and I truely feel that if you take care of your body with good diet that you can defeat Lupron and Lupron can actually do more good than harm. To help some of your side effects.....High Blood Pressure is definately associated with Lupron......your levels of stress are up when on this drug....because it is a type of drug that slows your system down and we want to go faster...so we fight it.....therefore raising our blood pressure....to reduce your blood pressure and bring it to good standing....try taking 2 tablets of OMEGA 3 FISH OIL daily....this is not only extremely good for your heart and functions, nervous system...(reduces blood pressure)...but it helps in the cognitive area (memory function), and lubricates joints and tendons which is a necessity when on Lupron. Even if you don't get side effects of Joint Pain....doesn't mean you don't have a silent damage....If you take OMEGA 3 FISH OIL...which you can find at a local drug store....or even Walmart has it....this will keep your joints, heart, and arteries very healthy. Also a Vitamin B Complex... will help reduce any stress even if you don't appear to be stressed ....Lupron treatments can be stressful in itself (hormonal changes) therefore causing a disruption in your sleep....dispite the side effects. Take Vitamin B Complex to help your nervous system and reduce Stress. Vitamins can only help you. Stay away from excess vitamins of A, D, E, and K as those are our overdosing vitamins.....you can take them just not in excess. Lastly......a vitamin called "Melatoni" will help you fall asleep but won't keep you asleep and it is all natural....you can find that at walmart to ...it is only 1mg...so completely nothing...but helps any restlessness. As far as the hot flashes go....well those are hot flashes and no way getting around that one. Hope I have helped.

I have been on prednisone for weeks at a time due to asthma. In 2002-2003 I had been on it for a total of 3-4 months (shortest being 10 days and longest being 6 weeks) I gained 10 lbs in 5 days laying in the hospital bed...from 154 to 164 and then up to 172 within the next week. I was swollen in the face and belly and I could not sleep. I was not even tired so it wouldn't have been so bad except I was so hungry that no sleep meant that I was up longer and had more hours to eat and eat and eat. I became disoriented and would start little projects and only finish half before I moved to another...very strange and emotionally unstable. It took a long time to loose the weight because I broke my foot . I am sure that the prednisone was responsible for weakening my bones...I just stood up and my foot broke. I didn't fall or bang into anything nor drop any object on it.

My dog is now on prednisone for the second time. The first time she was on it she became extremely hungry and ignored all of her normal restrictions...she would eat the trash, get into any wrappers and even ate an entire dish of candy. She was 10 at the time and well trained not to behave like that. She is now on it again for a brain tumor...her belly is so swollen that it is scaring me. She is disoriented, very thirst and always hungry. She is urinating constantly and she seems depressed. I am going to call the vet in the morning about these symptoms. We worked hard to get her weight down because she has arthrits and it helps her to be in shape. I feel that this drug is going to fatten her up beyond control. I know she is truely hungry because of my own experience and it was difficult to control my appetite I do not want her to feel starving all the time on top of the mood disorder. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks, Jenn
P.s. she will not eat carrots or any thing like that, I already tried

Hi everyone
I am new here and Im so glad I found this place. I was reccently prescribed Lisinopril like everyone else here for my high blood pressure and have been taking it for about a month. I thought it was great at 1st but after a few weeks, Ive noticed all the same side effects everyone else here is suffering. The worst part is when I have to drive. Not sure if anyone else ever had major panic attacks and dizziness while driving? Sometimes it gets so bad and I am so paranoid that I have to pull over to the side just to catch my breath. I feel like I am going to faint. I have never had this problems in the past but now I see where its coming from. I am also slowly beginning to feel the scratchy throat as well and my entire body is so stiff every morning and its gradually getting worse. I have tried other prescription drugs in the past and all with no success and always some kind of horrible side effects. Like Atenolol. I don't want to insult other dr's out there who actually care and wants to genuinely help people that are suffering but the sad truth of all of this is most doctors are prescribing this junk because its FDA approved which is total BS. Guarantee most of these Dr's never even tried these presciptions themselves and experienced 1st hand the side effects. And always there answer is either prescription drugs or surgery. They dont really want you cured, just stabilized so we keep buying these horrible junk. I guess its all politics. If they truely found a cure, then I guess pharmaceutical companies would be out of business and there would be no need for Dr's right? It's very frusterating.
We'll if this helps for anyone, I have a friend at work who actually fought his way and battled HBP and cured himself. Only true way he said was to change your diet and exercise. That is the only true way. Eating fish and less salt of course helps. He also mentioned that he ate 1 clove of raw garlic everyday for 1 year. One other solution you can try is an all natural medication called Hyprava. Its a bit pricey and Im sure it's not FDA approved because its too natural with no side effects but I did notice a difference when I was using it. Only downfall, was its an expensive alternative. Maybe this might help for some of you.

My grandmother has recently been hospitalized for a few problems. However in the past few weeks she has been taking ambien for pain and sleep relief. She has seen everything from my dead father and great grandfather to the grim reaper and tiny male ballerinas dancing on the wall, dogs and other hospital patients in her face! She also felt her body floating to the ceiling. It's been a very scarey time for her. Her blood pressure has been spiking real high and her speech is constantly slurred now. They are running tests to see if this could possibly be stroke related but so far have found nothing. Her doc has taken her off ambien and she sounds a bit more coherent today however her speech is still slurred. If this is truely the effect of ambien someone ought to lobby to have this stuff removed and banned from medical practice. She has never been this sick in her life and it seems as if she is speeding downhill at a rapid rate since starting to take ambien. She is 73 years old and still has a healthy body so why is her mind al of a sudden going out of control This stuff sounds like it is more harm than good.

I took topamax for about a year. I was slowly up to 200mg a day.I had a period for 28 days. I was 44 than, my normal cycle last 1 to 2 days.I ask my nero about it and he said it couldn't be the medicine. I talk to my family doctor, we lowered the does by 25 mg and my periods went back to normal. During this time, looking back now at what others saw I went through many personality changes. But I figured my headaches were gone, I was losing weight life was great. And than I started getting shortness of breath it was gradual and than it became severe. I seen so many doctors for almost a year. I had several test done was told I had pulmonary hypertension, told I had a Paient foreman ovale.
This was all new, I had an echo 3 years prior. I ask every doctor I seen could topamax cause this they said no. I finally got sick of going to the doctors , I quit going ,I also stopped taking topamax and guess what I can breath again. I have no pulmonary hypertension but the PFO remains. I am now afraid to take any new medicine. I would rather have headaches, my friends and family say I am back to myself and I feel so much better. I wish I would have listen to myself when I started questioning could it be the medicine. This medicine may work great for some, but my family and I went through hell. I truely thought I would not see my kids grow up.

I am getting ready to wean myself off of 150mg after being on effexor for about 2 years now for post-partum depression and anxiety disorder. To me, this drug has truely changed my life, and yes, I have had most of the side effects, but not bad enough to stop taking it. What I have noticed in everyone's terrible review of the drug is the side effects when you stop or forget a dose- what you must remember is that this is messing with chemicals in your brain. It is not something that is a miracle pill with no side effects. And it should DEFINETLY NOT be stopped cold turkey!! I feel so bad for you who think that is the right thing to do. This is a powerful drug for a reason- you MUST wean off of it. Your brain is going to have to get used to making these chemicals by itself- no easy task. Please heed my advice and stop blaming the drug company for your side effects- they are a natural healing process, no matter how tough they are. God Bless.

I started at 80mg while hospitalized for Sarcoidosis at the end of May. Prednisone allowed me to breathe. I was advised to keep a low sodium, low fat diet, vegies, fruits, no processed foods, exercise, plenty of water. Following that advise I have been lucky and not gained weight. I do have the "moon" face though. My dosage was lowered to 60 mg when I left the hospital then a week later to 40 mg and it took 2 months at 40 mg for the "moon face" to appear. At the end of this week I will drop to 20 mg until Sept when I see my lung Dr. My side effects seem to be minimal at this point and the prednisone truely helped me out of a bad situation.

I am a 25 year old man who was diagnosed with ADD about a year ago. My Doc put me on adderall xr 10 mg one per day. We then upped to 20 mg, and then 30 mg. I must say the drug is wonderful! I only wish I was diagnosed and put on this when I was a kid. I never could concentrate or finish anything in school. I would hear words from people and teachers but they just did not register. I would drift from thought to thought but still hear the words. I truely belive that ADD has been a huge factor in me never finishing school and also loosing a long term relationship. In the relationship I had same thing. I would hear her speak, and want to listen but something literally would not let me!!! So, to her, i just was "Not wanting to listen". We broke up over it! Two years later I told my doctor about my concentration problems. Since being placed on Adderall this has disappeared. I can totally listen and concentrate. My life has totally been improved. I have been promoted twice at my job now since being diagnosed. The only side affects i have experienced so far is for the first 2 days a headache and yes i was restless. Its IS an amphetamine. That dissapeared in two to three days. Also, dry mouth is a problem. To me the benefits totally out weigh the side effects. To the parents of younger children or teens, this drug is widely abused. Please keep it away from them and only administer it to them by recommended dosage. I feel most of the negative comments on this drug are from the EFFECTS OF ABUSE!

I'm a male with ADD. My marriage did not last due to ADD.
I had some very mild depression and my doctor prescribed Lexipro which did little for me. I take Adderal for my ADD and it does little to help me as well. My doctor had me try Wellbutrin, and that did little in the way of helping me with depression. I get no NEGATIVE side efffects from Wellbutrin like I see reported here. I do get from Wellbutrin one POSITIVE side effect, and OH MY G... I get INTENSE orgasms, so good anmd my orgasm lasts longer. I am truely sorry for everyones side effects they report here.

Hang in there! The good part is you only took three doses, right? I took seven, some people who posted here had taken this drug for 3 or more WEEKS, we all seem to have a different combination of side effects or reation to this drug, my main complaint was a horrible itch rash that was like posion ivy times 10, also i had some tightning sensations of the calf muscles which i am still having on and off, along with itchy dry skin and still a little rash flare up. I took my last dose of this drug a month ago. I itched so bad in the worst grip of this drug that i conteplated suicide just so it would STOP itching. Conteplating suicide is really out of character for me. I think this drug messed with my mind. The cortisone shot i was given to treat the rash ONLY made things worse. So I refused another one and I refused to take prednisone. I have improved a little eveyday. Oatmeal soap and oatmeal lotion helped the itch skin and benadryl cream was a little help for the rashs, I also was presrcibed hydroxyzine which didn't rally help me. I have so many drug allegies already and have never taken levaquin. I don't think I should have been precribed this drug. This should truely be a last resort drug for people who haven't reponded to anything else and who are practically on thier deathbed. I, for one will NEVER take this drug again. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, I am about to float my eyeballs! This has helped to flush this toxin out of my body. Good luck to any and all reading this post. And No you are not crazy or losing your mind and you are NOT alone. God bless you and keep you and restore you to health.

I am totally suprised at the various things Neurontin is prescribe for. Neurontin is an anti-seziour medication. I am taking Neurontin, Lamictal for Bipolor as they say...which I truely do not believe in diagnoses at all. I just attended an all day conference put on by Dr. Glasser, intitaled, also his book, "Danger, Psychiatry can be dangerous to your mental health."
The pharmicutical companies are making lots of money off of us since we are ginipigs. I have expereinced on anti-psychotic, Prolixin, shouldn't be on in the first place, only 2nights..spent two hrs in ER. As for Paxil gained 100lbs on (Jan97-Aug.02), & when tapered of had withdrawal symptoms (week after I started withdrawal, I saw a story about it on 20/20) even though withdrawal symptoms left it took me a yr to recover, whats positive of getting off the med, I have lost the 100lbs, + 5 more. Depakote, also caused some weight gain and some hair loss (taken off this before yr before paxil) One thing dr. never tell you is the long term effects or if there is any withdrawals.
I think the best way is to learn the ends and outs of all your medications you are taking. You know your body better then they do. Even if prescribe medication, learn all u can about it before taking it. Expecially the medications that effects your brain. I also feel that some of this medications can cause harm to a brain. You do have choices and its your life. (There is much more to this story about me, for example, pinch nerve in neck for 13yrs). If u would like to know more about me or have any questions I will be more then happy to reply back. ******
