Hi all again! I posted on Sept. 15th and 19th and I'm here again! Since I had my Mirena removed, I've had some heavy bleeding which has started to go away. I started to take Slow FE, an iron supplement because yesterday I was ready to drive myself to the ER - I felt lousy - drained to the bone and ready to pass out. After listening to my boyfriend, I went home, gave my kids something to do, and rested for a few hours in bed.
Later on I ate dinner and started to feel better. This morning I really started to feel more like myself (!). I have some bleeding, but it's turning brownish, like toward the end of a period. I am going to the OBGYN who delivered my kids (different doc's ofce than the one where I had the Mirena inserted); I want to get another opinion about the thickness of my uterine lining, the sono report, etc. just to rule out anything serious. My boyfriend thinks that I may have had a miscarriage without realizing I was pregnant (ironically, I was feeling like i had eight years ago when I had a miscarriage and a D&C and didn't realize it until he asked how I had felt then and compared it to now). I would need bloodwork to determine any hormone levels at this point; I'd just like to be reassured that it's not cancer.
Ladies - listen to your bodies. Yes, there is such a thing as allowing your body to adjust and some women haven't had the side effects which a lot of us are writing about; just don't overlook anything that is telling you "this is not normal, this is not natural." Trust your instincts and yourselves; you'll know if it's for you or not. And for crying out loud: if you want it out - insist upon getting it out - don't be coerced into doing something that you don't want to to.

I started using lipitor from my doctor, it lowered my cholesterol all around but I started to have lower back pains. At first I thought it might be prostate cancer, but after having to MRI's done they found no cancer, thank god. But I went to an orthopedic surgeon to see what the problem was. He looked at the mri's and saw lower dics hitting my nerve endings. He also thought that it might be muscle problems so he gave me 3 epidurals and that helped for a while took away about 50% of my pain, but I still have the pain, It is hard for me to get comfortable when I sit or even when I am sleeping. I don't want to think that it is the lipitor that is doing it to me but after talking with others I feel it is time to talk to my doctor about it. My doctor said that lipitor is the safest one that will do very little harm to my liver. I am not a doctor so I would not know.. My cholesterol level was 246 at one time now it is 175. I am now facing possible spine fusion to help correct my disc problem. But will also ask doctor to prescribe something else.

I had the Mirena inserted in November 06 and was told to give myself a few months to adjust. The 10 months I had it, I was constantly tired, bloated (looked pregnant all the time), had acne, gained weight, cried easily, extremely irritable, mood swings, no sex drive and diagnosed with depression. When my doctor prescribed anti depressants,
I had a feeling that the mirena was the cause so I decided to search the net for an idea of what the heck was wrong with me. I just knew that it is not "in my head" and I did not want to take more drugs ....
The forums I found convinced me that the mirena is the cause of the hell I was going through and insisted that it be removed. It was the best decision that I made, all the symptoms slowly disappeared and I felt better almost immediately. My husband saw the change in me and I slowly went back to my normal self and stopped having suicidal thoughts.
What really gets me mad when I read so many posts from women with the mirena being prescribed anti-depressants. it is so wrong to put more drugs in your body. From all the symptoms I had, I thought I had IBS, thyroid problems or depression.
My advice to those trying to figure out what is wrong with you and why you are going through, if you have the mirena, get it removed. Wait a few months and you will know if it was the cause. Trust your instincts and do not be swayed by the doctors.

Our 4 year-old son was prescribed Singular 4mg tabs approximately 1 year ago and I started to notice a dramatic change in our son's behavior almost immediately. He progressively became more aggressive, suffered from very strange/intense dreams, cried easily, temper tantrums and became very physically aggressive. He also seemed to suffer from dramatic mood swings. He even tried to choke me several times. THIS IS NOT OUR SON!!! We sought out Professional Therapy thinking that it was emotional ties to his father being in Iraq. It was only after I (Pharmacy Technician), decided to investigate the drugs he was taking for allergies a bit further. I felt this "maternal instinct" if you will to discuss termination of the Singular with his doctor. I approach it from a decrease in meds for him at the time. He was taking Zyrtec, Singular and Nasonex. I tapered his dose for a period of two weeks. (This was my decision, please follow DR or Pharmacist recommendations for stopping this drug). We noticed a marked improvement in mood swings, sleeping patterns, attitude, house rule compliance. We agree that his therapy was responsible for some of these changes but it was only after we dc'd the Singular that we noticed a change in his overall being. He is now a more stable and friendly 4yr. old.
Trust your instincts as a parent. All drugs carry side effects and you must be well informed as a patient and a parent. Consider the side effects against the usage for the drug. This is our experience with the drug Singular and our Pediatric patient. We will not put our son back on this medication.

OKay, I don't know if this has anything to do with Mirena or not, but I have had my implant since August 2006. Typically I am a very happy, healthy person. I eat extremely heathy (almost all organic, tons of vegetables & fish & almost no processed foods). Anyhow, for the last 6-8 months have have become VERY moody. I am often grumpy, I cry everyday, I have pain in my joints (I believe it to feel like arthritic pain). My finger joints are always sore. I am a fit person & am uncapable of opening a jar anymore. And, I have this nagging pain in my lower back to the left of my spine. Like I said, I'm not sure if this is because of my mirena implant, but I take no other medication, I don't even take OTC pain meds. I'm only 27 and consider myself to be very healthy. I'm not sure what else it could be. I suppose I will have it removed & see if I can become a normal human being again. I appreciate anyone else who can share their experience...I just want to know if I'm crazy or not???

I can't believe I have found this site!!! I have been having horrendous but very petty arguments with my boyfriend just lately, to the point I do not know if we are over as he is only speaking to me in a temper voice. Obviously I believe eveything is his fault(!) and now after reading the site I am wondering if it is all actually me and down to my pill, yasmin, as everything I have read about everyones mood swings rings true! I am almost 3 months in and have been experiencing headaches for the first time in my life and I thought it was just one of those things. My breasts are nearly up a whole size and I have become really really self conscious which I have also never been like before and few of my clothes appear to fit. I have also recently visited the Dr's with dizziness which I actually put down to Jasmin although she said it couldn't possibly be the pill and put it down to a dodgy eardrum which she thinks I have - also I believe I have become increasingly deaf... could that be the pill too or am I now blaming everything that is going wrong in my life on that one tiny little tablet????
I am going to book an appointment with my Dr for tonight but am really conscious that I am going to burst into tears the moment I walk into the surgery - is this the table or because of the rows with my boyfriend? (Like the chicken and egg!)
I have been on Dianette for years and have never experienced any problems - surely it can't be that bad, can it?????

Hello everyone,
I hope '1concernedboyfriend"s girlfriend will visit the site and see the light... I never had such sever side effects as the one you all have mentioned, and even so I am so glad to be off. My libido is returning and I just feel more normal. My husband does tell me that he felt I was getting very anxious and noticed changes in me that were concerning. I didn't notice them so much, but I trust his opinion. He's very intuitive and honest with me. I strongly believe oral contraceptives almost killed me, had I not had a sense that something was wrong and gone to the doctor a year ago, I KNOW I would have had a stroke because my blood pressure was 160/120.
Trust your instincts... you know your body better than anyone.
Let's see if i can get off of blood pressure medicine soon, I'll keep you posted.

I am SHOCKED this stuff is still on the market!
My dear, sweet, loving (& normally a little tempermental) 3yo daughter turned into a stark-raving lunatic on this! she was on it for 3wks along with Flovent for allergies/asthma. At first we noticed a little difference in her sleep patterns but thought it might have been the sudden good weather & loads of activity outside. Suddenly, during week 3, she developed stomach pain & fever. Vomiting began that night & intermittently through the next day. Her pain increased greatly in her stomach & back. She had no control of her emotions and she was filled with RAGE! All the while she kept pleading "Help me!, I can't do this!!". She was not eating & barely sleeping. After a few calls to the Doc, they agreed to meet us at the office on a Sunday but declared her to have a "tummy virus" & that it would pass. I knew there was something else wrong, but what? The vomiting & fever did subside by the next day but her behavior was COMPLETELY out of control! I had never seen such bad behavior out of any kid. She couldn't behave(or stop screaming) even when she wanted to. I prayed God would give me the answer & it just popped in my head...singulair. Sure enough, checking the trusty web, I was able to find tons of info which confirmed this. As I called the Doc the next day they said stop the singulair & let her recover from the "tummy bug" & restart singulair in 2 wks. They weren't convinced it was totally to blame & wanted to give it another try. OVER MY DEAD BODY will my little girl take that stuff again. Parents you know your kids, trust your instincts & just tell the docs NO!
We are now 4 days from her last dose & already we see a huge change in her. She is sweet & loving again with no more pain, no out of control behavior, and she is sleeping soundly again.
Mark my words, this will be one of those drugs we read about in the news along with all those others rushed to the market that end up destoying lives. Thanks for the encouragement & knowing we are not alone in this. Bless you M&S

YASMIN IS EVIL!!!!!!!
Hi Girls,
I posted my Yasmin experience a few weeks ago and i urge you all to listen to your bodies! I lost some of my hearing, had a severe migrain for three weeks, dizziness, blurred vision, chest pains that would go into the left hand side of my body, cramps in my legs and toes and i thought i was going crazy! Not one doctor suggested that Yasmin might be causing all my pain.
I had to fork out $1000 for a bloodtest, catscan, five prescribed medications including pain killers and to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist who charges $250 for 15 minutes!
I had a gut feeling that Yasmin was causing all my problems and when all my tests came back fine, i was truly convinced. I stoppped taking it immediatley, but when i fronted my doctor with all my symptoms she looked at me as if i was crazy and was adamant that Yasmin or any other B/C would not cause such severe side effects.
She then went and got her big medical book and looked up YASMIN and sure enough all of my symptoms were there in black and white. I knew more about this pill than she did, and she then said that i did the right thing coming off YASMIN as she was concerned that blood clots might be forming!!!!
I am furiuous that not one doctor questioned YASMIN, they truly believe that it is harmless and that severe side-effects are uncommon. But judging from this site we all know that YASMIN is doing more harm than good. I have been off YASMIN for two weeks now and all of my symptoms have gone. The first few days were so painful, it was as though YASMIN was slowly making its way out of m body.
I am so glad that i listened to my body, i knew that YASMIN was to blame and trust me I'm not crazy when i say that YASMIN IS EVIL!!! This pill has only been around for three years, not enough research has gone into it and the doctors are clueless! Please trust your instincts, not the doctors!
Feel free to e-mail me ****** if you need any advice or want to have a good bitch about YASMIN.
Thanks for your stories

I too have been experiencing the same side effects listed by most of you. I have also been seeing a gastroenterologist for about 9 months now because of stomach issues. All symptoms point to gallbladder disease but the tests come back normal. I called my gyne today and they seem unconcerned with what I have told them and advised me to continue to take my pills until my annual visit in October. I'm done with this pack on Saturday and am thinking of going sans pills for the next month until my appt. Any advice on what pill I should switch to when I do see my dr.?
