I want to know if anyone has experienced severe joint pain while on Doxy. I was prescribed this med on a Monday. I (like an idiot) doubled up on my first dose Monday evening because I know you can do that with other antibiotics to jump start the process. What can I say? I don't like being sick. Well....Tuesday morning, I took my 2nd dose and went to work. Very soon after taking the second dose, I broke out into a very itchy rash all over my back that soon spread to other parts of my body. I called my doctor and was immediately taken off the Doxy and prescribed Augmentin. Later that night, I began aching all over. I woke up in severe pain throughout all of my joints, and was in a terrible mood.....obviously. As the day progressed, the pain continued, but seemed to be moving randomly about my joints. My ankles would hurt for a while, then my arms, the my shoulders, etc. That night, I took a Benadryl (still itching from the rash a little), some ibuprofen, and went to bed. I woke up feeling a lot better. A lot less pain in most of my joints. It was a good day. However, today, Friday, I am still in some pretty bad pain in my hands. Anyone else have a similar experience??????

I had the most horrible experience with this medication. Part of it was due to my doctors poor care. On Monday I started at a new doctors office which is rather large. I gave him him my history with migraines and told him I was finally ready to start some sort of treatment. My previous doctor in the town had often recommended that I take something but I didn't want to take a daily medication. I am a fairly healthy 21 year old who gets between 5 to 10 migraines a month and many more headaches a month. I told him that my doctor and I had always concluded that my migraines were stress related. I told him that I have been experiencing a high degree of anxiety (I am a junior in college and it's the last week of class before exams.) He recommended Topamax and told me that it was an anti-seizure medication that was often used to treat migraines. He warned me that if I had any trouble with speech to let him know immediately but other than that he hasn't seen any other problems. He prescribed me 50mg twice a day, which he did not titrate as he should have. I took the first dose before bed Monday night and woke up so dizzy Tuesday morning I missed my first class. The dizziness passed and I just thought it was an adjustment period so I took my morning dose. I began to feel some tingling in my hands and feet and my reflexes were slowed (I felt like a drunk driver) I am a manager at a retail store and I forgot to do some of my most basic tasks. I took my evening dose and was described by fiancee as zombie. On Wednesday I woke up very emotional and cried a lot but didn't really think much of it. I took that mornings dose. By midday my anxiety and depression was so high I became suicidal. I had a panic attack while driving, i stopped off at my place of work because i couldn't drive anymore and my manager informed me that I was having a panic attack. I had never had one before. I have not been taking this medication for 48 hours but it has not left my system yet. I sought out counseling and am no longer depressed but I still have a great deal of anxiety and have been on the verge of two panic attacks today. I can write today, which I could not do yesterday. I do not recommend this medication to anything. Especially after what it did to me in just 3 days.

Prescribed Avelox 400 mg for 10 days, to combat sinusitis and lung congestion bordering on pneumonia. Dr. suggested taking it with Mucinex to increase impact on sinuses. Took first pill Monday, 4/13 and didn't have any unexpected side effects. Took 2nd pill Tuesday morning along with Mucinex, pretty much on an empty stomach, with too little liquid. I was having slight headaches, jitters, mild inability to focus, and some buzzing in my ears. After a few hours, I thought it would be safe to take an Aleve to work on the headache. BAD MOVE on my part. Within 10 - 15 minutes, I was violently ill, vomiting everything from an essentially empty stomach. I called my Dr. but he didn't return my call for a few hours. When we talked, I related the episode, and he advised that we should change medications. As we talked, I thought that maybe I had not been careful enough. Maybe there was a magnifier effect from the Avelox, the empty stomach, too little water, the Mucinex, and then adding the Aleve to the mixture. Bottom line, we decided that I'd take it again today, and be careful to avoid the combination issue. So far, it seems to be working. I'm still experiencing the buzzing ears, slight agitation/nervousness, and slight headache, but nothing scary.
There is one thing, though, that also concerns me. I have a recurring inflammation of my right Achilles heel tendon, and this illness or drug treatment brought it on big-time. My right Achilles is extremely painful and is throbbing like crazy. I normally take a Motrin (anti-inflammatory) and it goes away, but I'm not taking a chance with that until I stop the Avelox. My Patient Prescription Information makes a big deal about possible Tendon damage for those over 60, and I'm just about there.
Interesting counter-effect is that instead of not being able to sleep, I slept much better even after the first pill.

On February 9th, 2009, I went to my PCP because I had been sick for over a week. I knew I had had the flu and unfortunately I got a sinus infection and bronchitis from it. The dr. prescribed me Avelox. When I went and had the RX filled, the pharmacist told me that it was a very very strong antibiotic and that I needed to make sure to drink plenty of water. I took the first done on Monday at about 3:00pm. By that evening, the tremors were starting but I really didn't pay much attention to them because I still felt so horrible. At about 9:00pm I turned out my lights and attempted to go to sleep. Each time I would actually fall asleep, I would twitch or jerk myself right back awake. That first night, I got MAYBE 2 hours of sleep.
When I got out of bed Tuesday morning the tremors were so bad, I could hardly hold a glass to take a drink from. I was dizzy and was even having problems talking. My speech was very slurred and I sounded like I had been drinking. I took my second dose at about 1:00pm on Tuesday, which I never should have done. By 4:00pm my tremors were even worse, I was having a hard time walking, and I started to notice that when I went to the bathroom, urinating was becoming difficult. By that evening I had decided that if things did not get better, I would go to the ER the next morning. That night, once again I did not get any sleep at all and I started having auditory hallucinations. Three or four times through out the night I turned my bedroom light on because I swore I heard someone crawling on my floor.
Wednesday morning when I woke up, tremors were worse, I was having abdominal pain and could barely stand up. I called my doctor's office and left a message and then called my mother and she immediately took me to the ER. When we got there, my blood pressure was 160/100 and my heart rate was through the roof and completely erratic. They immediately did an ekg and asked me if I was having any chest pains or shortness of breath. It was at that point I became VERY nervous about the whole situation. While I was registering at the hospital, my mother actually had to fill out all of the forms because I could not write at all. Once I got back to see the dr. I explained all the symptoms and he said he was going to give me a shot of benadryl but it most likely wouldn't help since I wasn't having an allergic reaction. They waited 30 minutes and it did no good so the doctor gave me Atavan and we waited another 30 minutes to see if it helped. The atavan helped but only because it was masking the symptoms. The dr. explained that I was just going to have to wait for the drug to get out of my system.
It has been a week since I took the first dose and I still have some side effects. My vision has been slightly blurred and I normally have 20/20 eye sight. Also, my typing skills are noticeably worse. I use to be able to type 75 wpm and now I am lucky to get out 40.
I find it absolutely amazing that a drug like this can be approved by the FDA!!!!! Something needs to be done.

I had a terrible experience with Macrobid. Be sure to read the side effects! I started taking Macrobid on Saturday and immediately felt weak with no energy. By Monday night I was having a hard time breathing deeply. On Tuesday morning I experienced a racing heart rate & was taken to ER. My resting pulse was 120 and my blood pressure was 177/88. Very frightening. No more macrobid for me.

I was prescribed 7 Levaquin (3- 750mg and 4- 500mg) on Friday December 12th 2008 for an ear infection. I was to take the 3- 750mg ones for the next 3 days and then start on the last 4- 500mg. The next evening Saturday, I started to get sharp pains in my left calf. I thought it was a charley horse and started limping around with pain. During the night I felt as if I was lying on golf balls and could not get comfortable.
The next morning the pain in the calf included soreness in the left hip area. I took an over-the-counter pain pill and went on my business. I also took the second 750mg Levaquin Saturday morning. Later that afternoon my right calf starting hurting with sharp pain as I walked around the house. This was really weird. The pain was exactly in the same area as the left side.
On Sunday morning (December 14th 2008) I took the 3rd 750mg Levaquin. That evening I started to put two and two together and had some thoughts the medication (Levaquin) was causing these side effects. I told my wife that I was going call my doctor on Monday (December 15th 2008) and let him know how much pain I was in. At this time I could hardly walk. I was walking with much pain and felt like I was walking like the Apes in the movie called “Planet of the Apes”.
I was now on the 500mg Levaquin. I took this pill Monday as scheduled. I called my doctors office Monday morning and talked to the lady that answered his phone. I explained my condition. She had me describe my symptoms twice. She told me she would give my message to my doctor. I did not receive a return that same day.
Tuesday morning I took the next 500mg Levaquin as scheduled required. Later that day I received a call from a lady at my doctor’s office. She told me that the doctor was going to phone in an additional prescription and where did I want it phoned to. I asked her what the doctor said about the additional 2- 500mg Levaquin pills I had left. Did he want me to stop taking them? She told me he didn’t say and he made no comment on my side effects.
My wife called the Pharmacist later Tuesday afternoon and the prescription was not there or not ready.
Wednesday morning I took the 2nd to last 500mg Levaquin dose as scheduled. Later that morning my wife called the Pharmacist and my new prescription was ready. We went and picked up the new medication that afternoon.
At this time I only had one more dose of the 500mg Levaquin and seeing-how the doctor didn’t tell me to stop taking the remaining last couple of pills I took it on Thursday morning to finish out the prescription.
I’ve been off Levaquin for about 3 days now. It’s now Sunday December 20, 2008 and many of my joints and muscles are in distress. I walk with much pain. I can hardly life my arm above my shoulders. Even my hands hurt when I try to make a fist. I hope this drug starts to wear off soon.
Along with my other medical problems, I have been starting to have thoughts of how unimportant I am. How I could become a burden to my family. My depression has gotten worse and thoughts of suicide have flashed into my mind. Those thoughts give me chills because I love my wife and know how much that would hurt her. I love life but I don’t want to get to the point that I can’t take care of myself. God must give me the courage to do what I have to do. I don’t know why I’m writing down the above information. This is so personal. This can’t be happing to me. It just doesn’t seem possible. I feel the pain in each of my joints in my hands as I type. It is as though I was not myself. I look at my hands and it seems as if I was in someone else’s body. I’m sure this is side effects of the Levaquin and should subside soon. Merry Christmas Everyone.

Wow, some really interesting stories about NuvaRing on here. I had never head about it until 3 weeks ago when getting my annual, I brought up using Seasonale birth control and my doctor told me about the Ring, so he gave me a sample and sent me on my way. It was really convenient - except when I started having sex, I would take it out and put it back in afterwards. Not sure if that was smart or not. I took it out Friday of last week, and Monday started spotting brown blood - thought this was normal. Tuesday morning around 9:30 am I had severe cramps, headache and could barely walk when the cramps came. I got lightheaded and short of breath. Finally, when I went to the bathroom I had wiped and noticed pure blood (Im sure most can tell the difference between period blood and bleeding from an infection of some sort), when I looked down I saw a large mass of some sort. I freaked out because a friend had had a miscarriage and this looked exactly like it. I called the doctor who advised me to collect it and come in asap. I did have sex that weekend I was off it so I freaked out.
When I went in I was advised it was a side effect of the Ring. It was called a decidua cast, basically a linin of your uterus that is formed when pregnant, a lot of times this is shed due to an ectopic pregnancy. Ever sense then I have had the worst period EVER! Constant bleeding, I have to change my pad every 1-2 hours instead of 3-4 (I am afraid to use a tampon right now after this). The blood clots are just horrible.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND NUVARING!

I was prescribed Avelox for an infected insect bite. I took my first daily dose Saturday evening. I woke up Tuesday morning with large painful welts covering my neck. They were very itchy and hurt very badly. Today is Wednesday and they are continuing to get worse and spread. I just made the connection today that this rash is likely due to Avelox. Im a healthy 27 year old and Ive never had any allergic reactions to medicine before. The infection in my arm went away quickly, but the rash on my neck is terrible.

My dad at age 86 was given Avelox for bronchitis, also prednisone. He was on the Avelox for 6 days. Side affects included vomiting, nausea, bad taste in mouth (already had a reaction from Z-pak with an infection in his mouth), tiredness, fluctuations in blood sugar (not diabetic), pain. One minute he seemed to be okay and the next minute he said he was sick. We were not aware of the side affects. Was taken off the medication due to the side affects on the afternoon of Monday, April 21st. Sometime Tuesday morning between 9-10:30 he committed suicide. I am sure it is related to this drug. Please do not let anyone that you love take this drug. It has almost destroyed my mom. and my dad is now gone forever.

I started taking Bactrim for a UTI on a Monday night. Tuesday morning I work up with a intense headache I took the second pill that morning, by mid morning I started having pains in my left hand wrist, than having severe pain in my left leg making it very hard for me to walk, leading to fever and pain all over my body i.e., neck pain, lower back pain, joint pain I just hurt from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. I went back to the doctor that day (Tuesday) and was told I might have the flu after taking two flu test and both coming back negative I was given something for the pain and told to come back the next day if I did not fell any relief never the less I did not feel any better the next day in fact I was worse, I had a fever of 103.3 and climbing after returning to the same doctor for a third day and the doctor not having any answers for the way I was felling I, was advised to be taken to the ER on Wed and later admitted to the hospital and released with out being told what was causing me such sickness. It was not until the following week that I was told by my regular doctor that I was having an allergic reaction the Bactrim, it has been 9 days later and I still have swelling in my hands and feet and pain in my neck and legs. When will this end

Stupid Bactrim..never again!! I am a healthy 27 yr old, have never had any problem with antibiotics before, but my doctor prescribed me BACTRIM for my UTI! All I had was a UTI..and I felt like Bactrim actually made me feel worse than having a UTI!!!!
I only took it for 3 days..after that I stopped. I felt like I got the flu instead. I had a fever of 102.8, chills, headache for 3days, rib pain, my body ached, abdominal pain, fatigue..and the medicine extended my period. I should be over with it by now. But it is day 3 off the pill..I am feeling better. Drinking lots of fluids.Just feel a little more tired than usual. Will keep you all updated on how I do.
BACTRIM SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET!!!! So many people have horror stories about this drug!!!!!

I was prescribed this drug on a Wednesday for a sinus infection. By Saturday I could not stand up, was disoriented, dizzy, fatigued, and in general felt like crap. I did not take one on Sunday. I went back to the Doctor on Monday who told me I had fluid on my ear and that was why I was having those symptoms and it was not the medication. He gave me another round which I took around 3:00 p.m. on Monday. By 10:00 p.m. I had the dry heaves, could not stand up, was extremely dizzy, nauseated, fatigued again. I did not sleep any on Monday night. Tuesday morning I flushed remaining drug down the toilet. I has taken me 4 weeks to get to feeling some better. But, for the past several days, I have been having a crushing pain in my chest and upper body. I'm convinced it was from the Avelox. Something needs to be done to get this stuff off the market. I will never take this stuff again.

I have read a ton of the posts in this category. I have been taking Lisinopril as an addition to my regular blood pressure medication for approximately 3 years, with absolutely no problems. My 10mg was increased to 20mg a week ago. Still no problems. It has only helped me. If there are any changes, I will definitely post it. I believe that symptoms can arise from reading an article. I actually know a couple people who read things, and suddenly they are convinced they have the problem or disease referenced. I call it an Epidemic of Diagnoses. Always seek a doctors advice before stopping medications. Stopping suddenly on certain drugs, can be more dangerous than taking them.

On September 28th, I mentioned that I had an appointment to have the Mirena removed and that I would share my experience after removal. Well, I had my Mirena removed last Friday. NO PAIN. I took a Vicaden right before I was to have it removed and I felt no pain.
My physician held it up to me as I was on the table and asked if I wanted to keep it. I told her that I did not even know she took it out. As for taking it home......NO WAY, that little thing caused me so much trouble in the past 2 months, I don't want a reminder of all the pain.
Went to a concert the same day it was removed as well as the next day. I then went to the L.A. County Fair on this past Sunday. Everything was fine with light bleeding still. When I woke up Monday morning, I was soaked with blood. I cleaned up, put on a tampon and maxi pad then 1 hour later, I was soaked through again. That went on all through the day on Monday. It is now Tuesday morning, I woke up bleeding and went to work. The last time I checked my tampon, there was very little blood. I sit at a desk at work so I don't have to move around so much. I guess I just did too much activity after removal. So I will take this week off from the gym and go home and relax and hopefully the bleeding will stop completely.

I hope that what I'm going through is a side effect of this stuff. I'm a 31 year old, non smoking man. Almost three weeks ago I noticed a rash starting on my arms and torso, it looked exactly like poison ivy, except there is no likely way that I could have come in contact with it. I went to see my doctor as a precaution. My normal PCP was booked, so I saw another doctor at the practice. She said "we may never know what this is, but it should go away soon." She told me to wait and keep an eye onit. At this point I really had no other issues, it didn't itch too much.
Four days later, the rash had spread all over my torso and arms. I was starting to feel bad, and spent the weekend in bed with dizzyness and nausea. I called the doctor and she phoned in a prescription for Amoxicillin. I was on the Amoxicillin for 4 days before I went back to see her as my symptoms had not gotten any better. She put me on a 9day cycle of Prednisone. The prednisone cleared up the rash mostly, but throughout the cycle I felt weak, nausea, dizzy. It sucked. I read a lot about side effects online and was hopeful that this would end with the endinig of the prescription. Tuesday morning (8/14) I took my last pill. Yesterday I could barely function. I felt dizzier than normal and had a very hard time getting through the day. Now it's Thursday 48+ hours since my last pill, and I still feel dizzy, like I'm in a Fog. Does anyone know if this is possibly still due to prednisone? If I wake up tomorrow like this I'll plead for an appointment with my PCP. Any help is appreciated.

Woke up at 4:30 on Tuesday morning... can't remember if I woke up before or after my cat was coughing and puking up a large piece of folded up packing tape.. But then I noticed my right side of my chest hurt when I tried to take a deep breath. It's in my lower right chest, behind my ribs, and lower than my right breast. I just took my nuva ring out a at 4:45, and maybe it's just a placebo effect, but my chest felt a little better right away.
I put the nuva ring in on Thursday, June 28th, and have been so sleepy since that first night that I've felt compelled to take a nap every day, whether I wanted to or not.
Woke up Sunday night with an itchy eye, which I rubbed, then fell right back asleep. A couple of hours later Hannah (my 3 year old) woke me up because she'd peed in her bed, and after cleaning her and her bed up and getting her back to sleep, I went to the bathroom to pee, and when I looked in the mirror, my left eye was extremely swollen. It watered a lot, and the eyeball looked slightly red, but it didn't itch. I read about swollen eyes online and fell back asleep with my laptop on my lap at about 5:30 am. On Monday my eye improved over the course of the day and now it is about 95% back to normal.
On Saturday Hannah and I stayed over at our friends' house on the beach, and I woke up around 5:30 AM and noticed that: A.) The birds outside were chirping and making a ton of noise, and B.) On both of my hands, my pinky and ring fingers felt like they'd fallen asleep. I wondered if I slept on them in a funny way, and wiggled them and kept changing positions for about half an hour before they regained good circulation and I fell asleep again.
I don't remember if I woke up Friday night or had any health issues on Friday.
On Thursday, the day I put in the Nuva Ring, I had a terrible headache that was barely managed with advil and acetominophen. I had a headache the day before that was less severe, so I assumed the two were related. That night I fell asleep sort of involuntarily at about 10:30 pm, which is very early for me.
I normally sleep through the night without waking every night that Hannah doesn't wake me up, but not since I put in the nuva ring.
I am feeling quite a bit better now at 5:10 am on Tuesday, and will lay down again and try to sleep.

My daughter started this med sulfameth for a bladder infection. The first 3 days she suffered a severe headache. Next followed by knee pain, body pain. Third day severe rash, fever. Completely out of it. She started it on a Friday, by Tuesday morning we were at the ER. I called her Dr. office Monday and told her what she was going through and she stated that this medicine would not cause her to have these systoms. I am furious, my daughter was out of school a week, and is still feeling weak. I have never been more scared for her. This should be banned completely. I would love to sue. I am also furious with the Dr.'s office for not realizing these side effects, and other people could get this as well.

I had a hysterectomy June 14, on June 21 I had a bladder infection and my doctor put me on Levaquin. That was a Wednesday, by Sunday afternoon I could barely walk! I thought I had just did to much and strained my back. Monday morning I woke up with hives on my hands and feet. I had eaten peanuts the night before and thought that I must have developed an allergy to them. Tuesday morning I still have the hives, I can barely get up off the chair and I am so weak I can't support my own body to stand. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow....I wish I had came across this web site earlier!

Bad sinus infection which almost cauesd my eardrum to burst. I took my first pill(500mg) of Levaquin on a Monday afternoon and the 2nd on Tuesday morning. That Tuesday night I noticed my hands were ver hot as I rested them on my stomach...thought I had fever so didn't think much about it. I woke up in the middle of the night and my feet were feeling funny and my left shoulder was starting to hurt. Took my 3rd pill on Wednesday morning as I lie in bed. When I got up my feet felt as if they on on fire. I could hardly walk. Both hands and feet feel as though the nerve endings are exposed. About midday, my shoulder pain had grown to feel like it had been dis-jointed(left-shoulder only). I have absolutely NO movement of my left shoulder. My knees also feel like they could give way at any moment. I cannot walk barefoot on anything. imagine yourself in the summer, about 110 degrees, walking on rough concrete....that would be mild. Wednesday was the last pill. It is now Friday and all pain is still there. Waiting on call from Doctor. I would NOT advise anyone to take this stuff!
