My 4 yr old daughter took 1 dose of BACTRIM Tuesday night by Wednesday morning she looked like I had forgotten her in the sun. Her entire body was severely red from head to toe she was swollen all over her face, nose, lips, eyes ears hands and feet. Her eyes were so bloodshot and she complained of her throat being sore, couldn't see and her eyes hurting. We took her to our local ER where they stabilized her and then transferred her a hour away to a pedaratic trama center @ Levine's Children Hospital. She was diagnoised with a mild Steven Johnson's disease. Her fever went up to 102 and the heat from her skin and the SJD blistered her face to where she looked sunburn. Luckily the doctor that prescribed this RX to us new exactly what needed to be done and said no more sulfa drugs ever!! She is fine today but things could have been much worse for us.

I have been taking this drug for almost 4 days, 2x a day at 100mg, i have UTI too, i have been feeling weak, terrible headache, nausea, backache and my eyes would be sore. i just don't think this drug is useful at all. And im 3 months pregnant, my morning sickness went off a week ago but when i started using it nausea is terrible plus backache. i agree this drug needs to be out of the market.

okay so today is Wednesday, ive been having really bad headaches for the past two weeks, i don't know why, but on Monday, my eyes started hurting whenever i looked anywhere else but straight ahead, really intense dizziness...Tuesday, the dizziness subsided, id been on dayquil/nyquil since Monday morning and stopped it Tuesday night
Wednesday - i stayed out of school all day, doctors diagnosed a sinus infection, and gave me the Zpak...
so since Monday, i hadn't crapped....i don't know if it was just what i had been eating, the illness, or what, but right when i took the Zpak's double dose, ive been dealing with stomach cramps and diarrhea. i got some kind of rash on my abdomen as well, im worried to find out what other side effects come on from this drug...

I am so thankful I found this site! My 4 year old son who suffers from asthma & allergies was just prescribed Singulair on Tuesday 10/21 along with Pulmcort inhaler & Xyzal. The doctor said to give him these daily for a month due to it being Fall. I do not like the idea of him being on any drug let alone 3 at one time. So today I started to do research on them. I will NOT be giving him the Singulair ever again!! He only had it the past two nights. He only had one pill on Tuesday night and by Wednesday night at his basketball practice he was saying he was tired and laying on the floor...this is so not like him. I believe it probably was from this medicine already having an effect on him. I am glad I found this site before he started to have these horrible symptoms that so many innocent children have had. I am going to call his Doctor and ask for something else to give him. What have doctors prescribed for your children in place of Singulair????

I'm so glad that I have read all of these. The last 3 days have been horrible. This is my second month using the NuvaRing. I put the 2nd ring in on Monday night and I starting throwing up Tuesday night and haven’t stopped. I can’t hold anything down (not even water). I drove to work on Wednesday morning, while throwing up and literally falling asleep at the wheel. I couldn’t see anything, my vision was awful. I had lost feeling in my arm earlier that day. I took an early lunch yesterday and fell asleep in my car. I fell asleep at my desk and couldn’t see my computer screen. I thought I was dying. A few girls looked up this website and told me to immediately take the ring out after lunch. I had become so dehydrated and weak I left work early and went to the doctor. The Doctor immediately referred me to ER. I have a horrible infection that has gone through my body. I am on strong antibiotics to get better.
Now that I read all of these stories; I realized that I have been extremely tired for the past month and would fall asleep anywhere all the time. Like mentioned from the other girl below it was like I was in a coma. I have lost all my energy. Others have noticed a change in my attitude. I’m usually really hyper and now I’m very quiet. This ring could have wrecked my new relationship. (He noticed my attitude change and that I couldn’t even stay awake to watch a movie) I had a rash on my forearm a few weeks ago that freaked me out. I started getting acne on my face and dark spots on my cheek. And now that I think about it I have thrown up many times in the past month for no apparent reason.
Now that I have read all of these and have went through this horrible experience; I have a much better understanding and will never use the ring again. I feel bad for the girls that are going through this horrible experience now and in the future.

I see many women saying rapid heart beat and anxiety, but has anyone else experienced dry mouth, insomnia, and/or a lack of vaginal fluid? I'm a little concerned.

I am actually crying as I had no idea what was wrong with me. I have been on Lisionopril now for about 5 years at 40 mg/day.
During those five years I have been fatigued, suffered with GERD, dry cough. Of course my doc said to lose weight.
Last month I went on a diet and all hell broke loose. I lost 25 lbs and I don't know if the weight loss released all of those Lisionopril toxins or what but here goes:
Fatique, weakness, arm and leg muscle pain, absolutely no sex drive, rib cage pain, back pain, perceived shortness of breath. Heart palpitations, dry cough with mucus. I have a lump in my throat. It got so bad I went to the ER , they drew labs and my BP was elevated. They added labetalol to the lisinopril. I came across this site and I called my doctor and I told him that I wasn't taking lisinopril anymore. I feel as if I am having a slow death. I cant function, I cant work, I am panicky and nervous.
He said to monitor my pressure with 2x/day with the Labetalol.
I was on the maximum dose and I wonder how long will it take for this poison to leave my body. I can't believe what this medicine is made from. I am more than willing to lose weight and do anything to stop taking these poisons. I would love to hear your experiences. I need all the support that I can get.
I just don't understand the sudden exacerbation of all of the symptoms unless it is the weight loss. But my BP never went down even with the weight loss.

I am 30 years old and have never had any children. I had my Mirena inserted on on 7/18 (during my cycle). I know it has only been a week but I'm feeling a little concerned and confused.
While having it inserted I was SHOCKED by how painful it was. I, like many other stories I've read, felt like I was going to faint.
Sunday I woke up in at 5:30 a.m. in so much pain! It literally hurt so bad that it woke me up. The same thing happened Tuesday. Night time has been a struggle also. I resorted to taking Tylenol PM to knock myself out.
I asked my doctor to test me for all STD's to ensure that I would not have a PID, but I'm still apprehensive. I realize I need to give it time... but gosh it sucks being a girl! I'm glad I haven't had any emotional side effects and hope that I never do!

I am about 8 weeks pregnant and was prescribed Zofran by my ob/gyn for severe nausea. I bragged on the drug after the 1st dose because I felt wonderful. I was prescribed every 8 hours as needed. The first pill I took on a Tuesday night, the second on Thursday night when I developed severe motion sickness, the third on Friday (by then I could not stand to move around). By Monday of the next week I felt as if I was going to explode. I was extremely miserable. I realized that I felt worse after the Zofran because of severe constipation. I felt as if everything I had eaten for the last week was just sitting in my stomach. I had nausea, dizziness, headaches, indigestion w/reflux, excessive gas and bloating, and a horrible taste in my mouth. I stopped taking the Zofran and used an enema and prune juice to clear my system. Some how, compare to how the Zofran made me feel the nausea doesn't seem so bad!

Started a 5 day 750mg Leva-pak on Sunday after amoxicillin didn't touch my bacterial throat infection of unknown origin. My husband mentioned these boards full of complaints, but I was so miserable that I said I would be fine--never had a problem with a drug before.
Sunday brought swollen, painful knuckles. Monday had palpitations and painful sensitivity to light. Tuesday night I was wired and couldn't sleep at all, my heart was racing, and I had asthmatic wheezing and serious shortness of breath and borrowed my husband's inhaler. The pharmacy said insomnia wasn't a side-effect (which was misinformation) and I'd be fine as long as I didn't have a rash (more misinformation). I was finally feeling on the mend as the fever had broken Tue night and I attributed the symptoms to the infection. Then I took my next dose of levaquin.
Within 10 minutes of taking it, I was considering a trip to the ER. My head was splitting, I was extremely sensitive to the slightest motion, sound, or light, my heart was racing again, and I felt violently ill to my stomach all within 30 minutes. My throat swelled to the point I could hardly breathe or swallow my spit. My temp that had been normal since the early morning hours also shot up to 101. It was so drastic and sudden that there is no possibility the symptoms came from anything but the medicine. Short of contracting anthrax, I won't ever take this again.
AND my throat is worse! They put me on augmenting now. Wish I'd gone on it in the first place.

I discovered this site last Wednesday morning - without taking the time to list all of the grief I felt reading through the pediatric postings, I will briefly note my 4 year old daughter has been on Singulair for 2 years now. What I now realize is all the behavior issues, night screaming, etc. are so easily dismissed as stages of a toddler. She has suffered (as well as our family) every symptom and behavior listed by parents on this site with the exception of leg cramps.
Our entire family can see the dramatic results since taking her last pill last Tuesday night. The melt downs and tantrums are all but over, she even commented "hey, I listened right away" on the second day without Singulair. She is still having night terrors - I call them that because they are in no way a dream or nightmare, but rather agonizing moments that break our hearts to hear. I hope those will soon go away as well so her sleep pattern results in a restful night.
Am I angry that we have all suffered for 2 years only to find we have been basically poisoning her? Am I angry that for the 2 years her dad and I have sunk pretty low, feeling inadequate as a parent to teach and discipline our child? Am I angry that after 20 years of marriage, raising a great 16 year old in the midst of all this, we were to the point of the ADD, bipolar, etc. theory that would have been misdiagnosed? Heck no, we are all so thankful to have come across this site and are so giddy and excited to be happy again.
What I am angry about is this - when I called our pediatrician last Wednesday and relayed what I had seen on the Merck website for side effects added in recent months she had not heard this information and asked where I saw it. At that point I had not seen this site. I asked her how is it the well dressed pharmaceutical reps come in with doughnuts, exotic trips, etc. to market a drug with "ABC" treatments and "XYZ" side effects, continue to market the drug and never update the doctors when original selling points are altered - ie; new side effects.
The FDA website is troubling for two reasons: Merck is in charge of their own investigation regarding recent complaints and the FDA expects this to take 9 months. Gee, who gets to investigate themself? Secondly, in February the site notes the FDA and Merck are trying to find the best way to communicate the concerns being investigated to prescribes and patients. HELLO - we live in a world of real time, instant communication methods, two examples being the United States Postal Service and an internet connection.
Today is April 30 - a full two months after "trying to decide how to pass this information on" and my doctor, nor my pharmacist have received any information. Apparantly since we missed the story and coverage on Dateline we are out of luck.
I plan to start from ground zero to get our voices heard to change the way, or the law if you will, to implement an immediate communication link between the FDA and prescribes when an investigation such as this has been initiated. I realize Singulair has most likely benefited more humans than it has destroyed while on the drug and the FDA would have to clearly not communicate "panic". However, when a drug is used for pediatric treatments we need information quickly to assess on behalf of our children. In my case, since my daughter had been on the drug since 2 years old, I do not know what her "normal behavior" should be as that is the age they start to develop and show personality. Additionally, when enclosed prescribing information is updated with a prescription -MARK IT IN RED, "UPDATED INFORMATION". I read every ounce of information that accompanies a new prescription for any family member. I would NOT, however read the information every 30 days for an ongoing, long term prescription over the course of 2 years.
I am looking for anyone that may have started contact with a congressional representative or otherwise to change the communication to our doctors. Please note - I am in no way interested in any legal action regarding Singulair and our nightmare. We are moving forward and do not wish to live the nightmare one moment more. I simply want to see our doctors and pharmacists have vital information as it happens.
Thank you to all for sharing your experiences - I truly believe it is changing lives and making a difference. I am personally telling everyone I know about what is happening with our child and all of yours. Andy by the way, by telling one of my long time friends our amazing discovery, she realized she had been suffering from depression for some time and chalked it up to various things going on in her life. She had her last Singulair last week and feels tremendous! So keep the word going!

Bad sinus infection which almost cauesd my eardrum to burst. I took my first pill(500mg) of Levaquin on a Monday afternoon and the 2nd on Tuesday morning. That Tuesday night I noticed my hands were ver hot as I rested them on my stomach...thought I had fever so didn't think much about it. I woke up in the middle of the night and my feet were feeling funny and my left shoulder was starting to hurt. Took my 3rd pill on Wednesday morning as I lie in bed. When I got up my feet felt as if they on on fire. I could hardly walk. Both hands and feet feel as though the nerve endings are exposed. About midday, my shoulder pain had grown to feel like it had been dis-jointed(left-shoulder only). I have absolutely NO movement of my left shoulder. My knees also feel like they could give way at any moment. I cannot walk barefoot on anything. imagine yourself in the summer, about 110 degrees, walking on rough concrete....that would be mild. Wednesday was the last pill. It is now Friday and all pain is still there. Waiting on call from Doctor. I would NOT advise anyone to take this stuff!

For those of you wandering how long the side effects last...well...I took my last pill on Tuesday night before bed and of course had the rapid heart rate, vomiting, lack of concentration, frequent urination...etc....Today is Sunday and it is the very first entire day that I have felt my normal self....so there is hope....almost a week, but worth the wait!!
