Thank you for sharing your experiences with this medication. My 4 (almost 5) yo has been on Singulair for almost 2 years now for allergies. I've noticed over the past few months a slow change in his behavior/attitude, not positive changes. He's become an aggressive, angry child that can be set off in a split second over nothing. He's also getting worse with not wanting to go into other parts of our home alone. He won't even walk down a short hall to go to the bathroom alone - is afraid of I don't know what. Lately, he's also been obviously having bad dreams because he kicks and yells in his sleep. I've just chalked all of this up to his age. While taking a walk yesterday I ran into a neighbor that was telling me the doctors want to put her son on Singulair but because of the possible hyperactivity and other side effects she won't do it. I came home and found this site along with others describing similar side effects as my sons. As of last night, we took him off of Singulair. I'm curious to see if this is the problem. I'll keep you posted.

I have been reading all of these posts and have another question. I hope that someone can help. My daughter, 8 years old, has been on Singulair since she was 4. She is normally a very happy girl with a wonderful disposition. For the last year or so, she has been having trouble getting herself to sleep at night. She says that she hears things in her head such as ringing or "noises". A few hours before she knows it's bedtime, she cries and when we ask her why she's crying, she can't give us a reason. We initially thought that she was crying for no reason because she didn't want to go to sleep. I remember reading about the side effects of Singulair causing mood swings, etc., but her's are not violent mood swings. Just very emotional and has a hard time coming down from the "episode". I'm at a loss...I have not talked to her doctor yet about it, but have told her that we will make an appointment this week to discuss it with him. My husband suggested that maybe it sounded like she was having a panic attack or anxiety attack. I hate to label her as that at such a young age. My mind now goes back to the side effects of Singulair and maybe this is to blame. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Concerned Mom

My son has been taking Singular as well as Advair and Zyrtec and Nasonix for the past 6 months. He is doing so well. He has not had to go to emergency, he has not been sick, and he has not had mood swings. If you look at the prescription information that comes with Singular, you can see what the side effects can be. My recommendation is to take your child off of them if they have a side effect. I contacted my Dr. and Merck is studying only 1 case with a child that had side effects, but they did not say if this child was on other Psych medicine at the same time. The 2 psych meds that have shown a bad interaction with Singular are Phenobarbital and Rifanpin (spelling may be wrong). With all the posts I have read, very few people indicate if they are taking other medications at the same time as Singular. My suggestion is that you consult your Dr. and then send your case to Merck for more studies. If all you are doing is posting on the web, you are not solving this issue with the makers of the medication.

After reading this website and struggling with some pretty severe side effects with our son over the last 5 years, we decided to replace Singulair with a different asthma med. Guess what? After 2 weeks, we saw a TOTAL turnaround with our son! It was like night and day. I can't believe we let our son struggle with this side effect for 5 years. Singulair DID work great for our boy, but it just isn't worth the side effect that he had.

We lost our home to a house fire this past August so when my 8 year old daughter experienced severe depression, night terrors, and was constantly acting out we naturally blamed it on the house fire. The odd thing was that she had the "normal" depression immediately after the fire and started to become herself again. Several months past when she started this severe depression and horrible behavior. We brought her to a psychiatrist because this was just not the depression she was experiencing after the fire. The psychiatrist diagnosed her with post traumatic stress disorder and explained that with children it can take months for this to "come out". Well, with allergy season on us in the South, my daughter started her Singulair treatment the exact time of this recent behavior. Needless to say, we are taking her off the Singulair, I will post again to let you know if she makes a turnaround.

i've been on synthroid for 9 years. started at some low dose and gradually went up to112 mg. get extreme itching all day everyday if i don't take allegra for that.not a rash just itching. that doesn't bother me as much as the fatique. every joint in my body aches all the time. sure there are better days but fo rthe most part it's bad. tried physical therapy and chiripratic care but no avail. they ended my sessions. my legs get sooo weak and my feet burn lower back really aches. sometimes muscle cramps. i'm very negative towards my loving family and it hurts me to do so. can't seem to keep upbeat. soo tired all the time.
is it the syntroid? i used to be very energenic and a doer. now i have spurts of activity in the morning , but then i just can't get motivated. help me any suggestions?

Hi everyone, thanks for the response about my daughter, i need to explain her symptoms a little better.
Shr's been off yasmine 5 weeks now and had 2 and a half great weeks, she was confidant, happy a complete turnaround to the depressed girl of before, she has struggled on and off for some time, she has suffered from depression, anxiety and all the problems that go with it such as nervous vomiting shaking not being able to sleep, self harming the list goes on, so when she was well it was a great relief, we thought it must be the yasmin.
She went down a little at about 3-4 days before her period by the second day of her period she was back in the deep pit of depression, now her period is all but finished and there is hardly any improvement, everything ive read on this site the women say they begin to suffer from ovulation until there period, that wasn't the case with my daughter, she has suffered terribly during her period.
That makes me question if it is yasmin cuasing hormone problems, or if it is a form of depression, ive even considered maybe bipolar which scares the hell out of me.
She is on lexapro and her doctor has yet again increased her dose to 40mg which is a worry to me, it is a concern that she is still having these problems while on antidepressants, her mood has gone up and down to the extreme, what can we do, some advice would be greatly appreciated

My daughter has the same problem, deep pain in the vagina when inserting tampons and during sex, we dont know if it is related to yasmine or not. She has had all the other side effects; depression/anxiety, mood swings, frequent urination the list goes on.
She has been off the pill for four weeks yesterday and is feeling great, the last two weeks have been a complete turnaround, she is happy at work, where as before she was really struggling.
She hopes to slowly go off the antideppressants that were prescribed, we are just hoping that she is over the worse of it, she is only 17 and should be enjoying life.
As for the vaginal pain, i will ask her if there is an improvement since stopping the pill and let you know

I have been taking Lisiniprol for 6 weeks. I have lost 15 pounds. Had diahrrea for 3 weeks. Experienced extreme fatigue and slept most of the day. Loss of appetite and queasy stomach all the time. My blood pressure dropped significantly.
I printed out all the side effects on this website and brought them to my doctor who took me off this medication. Since then I have not had diahrrea, have gained a couple of pounds and feel alot more energetic-a real turnaround and in only a few days.
Thank you for having this website...it probably saved my life.

I made my appointment yesterday. It comes out tomorrow. I had my first anxiety attack on Monday Feb 2nd. I thought I was dying and to make it worse I was driving. I'm paranoid. I can't help but cry right now. I have blurry vision I feel awful. I was thinking its only anxiety and nothing to do with the Mirena, but I don't need this in me. I'm not chancing it. I don't want to have children right now especially how things are going, but I'm not willing to go insane just to prevent it. I want my mind back. I want my life back. Even if this isn't the cause of it I won't give it the slightest chance.
I was doing well for a while then this year certain things started changing in my body. I'm not willing to keep it in. I can't feel the strings so I hope nothing bad has happened. I'll find out tomorrow at 3:30 Pray for me. I need your prayers I'm so paranoid.
