Two friends symptoms and conditions

Getting Mirena out on Monday! I got mine put in at my six week check up following the birth of my son in December 08. Thought it was wonderful. Loved it, thought it was going to be great, and it was for about six weeks...now I am so tired, but don't sleep. I walk around in a fog unable to focus. Stopped losing and actually gained weight, headaches, depression, weepy, zero sex drive, blurry vision- you name it, I have it (and it's NOT PPD!) I was a very healthy, HAPPY person. I did my research before getting it, and thought it would be the best BC for me (as did my doctor). WE WERE WRONG!!! I have talked with two friends who also have Mirena. They are also suffering with "side effects" and are planning to have it removed.
I can't wait until Monday...looking forward to getting ME back!

Due to the large amount of people who suffer devastating side effects from Lipitor and other statins, I would like to encourage each and everyone of you to tell your story on home video and post that video on****** This will be one of the best ways to alert the world to the dangers of this drug.

I am 31 and I have been on YAZ for a month now. My two friends have been on it for two months and suffered nausea and that was it. They love this BC!! I have not taken BC for two years but with my history of ovarian cancer (diagnosed at 24, been cancer-free for seven years!!) and my horrible periods I decided to get back on something. My oncologist put me on YAZ once I told him how the first day of my period keeps me home from work or I miss out on social activities due to the awful cramps. The only side effects I have experienced are being on my period for a month and bloating. The period is light but I still have to wear a tampon non-stop and that is not so good for the old sex life with my husband. I have never been pregnant, but I feel like I am with the stupid bloating I am having. I am going to give it another two weeks if nothing has changed I am quitting. Good Luck to everyone!!!

Wow! Can I just say I'm scared to death now after reading about all of your horror stories with the Mirena. I have two friends who have the Mirena and both absolutely love it. No mention of any negative side effects from either of them. I've had mine approximately one week and I will say it was a small form of torture having it inserted. I have a ten year old and was told it would be no problem! The first time they were unsuccessful so they asked that I come back on valium to help me relax. I went back and while I was relaxed it still took three different doctors to get it in. Apparently my cervix went back to pre-baby shape which is why it was so difficult. I will say since I had it inserted I have felt bloated and had slight abdominal discomfort. No bleeding though... thats a plus. Guess I'll keep a watch for the mood swings, weight gain, etc.

I started yasmin because of bad PMS and heavy periods, leaving me very weak for days. Only really had one good week a month, so i thought i'd try this pill (never having used BC pills before) after it had been recommended by two friends of mine. Now, i've only been on it 8 days so it may be a little early to start complaining but my main concern is that my period has not stopped. I took my first pill on the day my periods started for the month and where they would usually last 4-5days max, i am now on my eighth day and there's no sign of them stopping! Not heavy, light and dark like the last couple of days before the end of your cycle - only im usually onlly like thsi for a day or two before they finish... this time they dont look like they're finishing!!! Also have swollen, sore breasts (that i can tolerate - have gone up a cup size!). Have found im going to bed earlier and waking up a lot easier since i started the cycle, which id a plus as i usually have a hard time falling asleep and waking up.

Mainly concerned about the constant bleeding as have not seen it mentioned as any one elses symptoms. has anyone else experienced this? if so, is it normal for a first-timer? I thought it may be because its the first time i have taken BC pills and it takes a couple of months for your body to adapt...

Hello, I am getting Mirena inserted tomorrow evening. I am 32, mother of 2. Now that I have come across this website I am a bit nervous about all of the side effects I am reading about. I have been having serious problems with the pill over that past several months- bleeding/clotting for 2 weeks at a time, extreme moodiness and no sex drive to name a few. I will definitely keep an eye out for all of these symptoms everyone is talking about. I appreciate everyone's posting on this website. I'm 17 years old.
I started taking birth control to help lighten my periods and reduce cramps. I also thought it would be nice to know exactly when they were coming.

Back in November (07), I started taking Yaz. I bled through the whole first pack. I bled halfway through the second pack until the end. I bled halfway through the third pack until the end. By the end of the third pack i already had a new prescription lined up for ALESSE.

I started taking Aviane, which is the generic version of Alesse. I started bleeding on the 13th day of my first pack until the end. I'm on my second pack and started bleeding on the 10th day.

I called my doctor and she said I needed more proestregin. So, she prescribed Loestrin. However, what she prescribed me is the the 21 pills with the 7 day period.. But I have free samples of Loestin with 24 pills and a four day period. My question is, does it matter which one, like, will the length affect anything?

After reading some of these posts it freaked me out, but everyone responds differently. I'm going to give it a shot when this Aviane runs out. Just thought I'd share my experience with other pills. Funny thing is, I have two friends who take Yaz with NO problems, and two friends who take Aviane with NO problems. All these girls are different sizes, weights, taking it for different reasons.. so once again, it affects everyone differently. Good luck, ladies.

Started 10 mg Lisinopril, after 4 days I couldn't catch my breath. Had to sit and not even talk, in order to get oxygen in. Couldn't sleep, would wake up gasping for air. Would take 2 breaths and the 3rd would be a yawn to get oxygen in. It's been 5 days since I quit taking Lisinopril, and my breathing finally feels normal. And the doctor said this is not a side effect of the drug, just a coincidence.

In fairness, I have two friends who have been on it 15 and 20 years respectively. Also a 95 year old aunt, and she suffers from shortness of breath but blames it on other things. I wonder.

A doctor at my health club said his patients have had great success with Resperate, a biofeedback machine, for blood pressure. Will give that a try next.

Have been on Lipitor for almost a year and muscle aches and pains have increased in the past two months to a debilitating stage. The muscles in my arms, shoulders and back hurt constantly. My hands are aching and I've also experienced cramps in the feet and toes. Last week cramps started in the leg calves. I can barely climb any stairs. There has also been some weight gain since I began taking lipitor.

I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and when I finished describing the symptons he immediately said it was most likely the Lipitor.
He also shared that he had two friends who are doctors, one a runner, who had these same symptons as a result of Lipitor. He told me to stop taking it for two weeks and see if it is better. I will stop taking this permanently and try to lower the cholesterol with exercise and Vitamin C.

I began using Nuvaring last year at around this time, and it was great for a while. Then I started getting yeast infections. And more yeast infections. In fact, they still haven't gone away, even though I switched birth control about 5 months ago. I've talked with two friends and they had the same problem. I have to take yogurt supplements up to 4 times per day to even function. Diflucan doesn't work, neither do the most commonly sold creams (Monistat, etc). I'm about to try a new remedy that worked for them and got rid of their chronic post-Nuvaring "beast infection" (what I have come to call it). It's gynazole cream 2 times for one week followed by 2-3 weeks of boric acid suppositories. Stay the heck away from Nuvaring, and warn all your friends. There's no excuse for them missing this hideous, miserable side effect.

Been on prednisone for over 6 mos...started at 60 mg a day for COPD's, major lung infections at times. Yes, it helped clear that up, but as mentioned by all of you, the side affects are about to ruin relationships with friends/family. I am supposed to start weaning down to 40, etc...for at least two weeks, then 30, and so on, till off completely, but so far, once I get down to the 30, the infections start back and I end up back up to 60. Weight gain, major hunger, major burning where they go in and where they go out...eyes watery/blurred vision. Personality has become very agressive and have lost two friends this week because of my outbursts. It's like I know what I am doing, yet can't control it. I have never been so depressed, and I am on Wellbutrin but doesn't seem to be helping. Steroids leave permanent enlargement of neck and the new look on face remains for the most part...I believe you call in moon face...I just look in a mirror and don't even recognize the person Ihave become.

After I stopped taking Yasmin I noticed hair growth on my upper lip and stomach. (I never had hair there before) I mentioned it to two friends who also were on the pill and they confirmed that this happened to them too. Does anybody know if this is permanent? Has this happened to anyone else?

have been on WellbutrinXL 150 for a week now. My biggest complaint is that I feel dizzy cold and nausea. Very annoying but Ive been told by two friends who are both in the mental health field and have both used the med that I should give it a month because its a great drug. I have noticed a decreased craving for cigs which is why Im taking it.

I just went on Yasmin a week ago and have been a mess! I haven't been on a BCP in over 4 years because of problems I had before, and I have two friends taking Yasmin that swear by it, so I thought I would try it. I have been an emotional mess- experiencing depression, severe mood swings and lack of energy all this week! My breasts are also now two completely different sizes - my left breast feels like it weighs 50 lbs and is completely swollen! I also am starving all the time! I didn't think it would take such a short time for symptoms to kick in, and I am shocked that it has. I thought this wasn't normal, so I have been researching other options on the internet. I was shocked to discover the high dosage of progestin in Yasmin - 3 mg which is 3x the normal amount of other BCP's. I wonder if this can be attributed to so many girls having problems with it. I also would like to apologize to my husband for having to put up with me for the past week. After reading all these other posts I am quitting today and giving my two other packs (which cost me $60) to my girlfriend who swears by it. I think I am going to try a lower dose hormone such as Alesse or Mircette.
