I started right out 3 years ago on 100 mgs. and within a couple weeks migraines were virtually gone! I thought it was a miracle! Only slight side affects for a couple years and only an occasional migraine but not a three day long one. So, I figure, small price to pay for all that relief, right? Now, for the last 6 months or so I'm falling apart! My memory is just gone! Sometimes I'm afraid to leave my house because I'm afraid I'll forget my way back home! I can hardly concentrate long enough to put a meal together and it just took me 4 tries to remember how to spell concentrate! Thank Goodness for spellcheck! I've lost 42 lbs. that I can ill afford to lose and I now I have started to have these anxiety things that I've never had before. I feel scared and nervous and no idea why. I was on a couple of drugs for allergies, a couple for arthritis and a vitamin. I dropped everything except the Topamax and the DR. put me on a 1/2 mg. Zanax twice daily for anxiety which seems to do nothing except make me sleepy. Now it seems all these side affects have just bloomed and I have this constant ache over my right eye which isn't a migraine but never goes away. I'm afraid to just stop the topamax because of what I've read about suddenly stopping. Doctors are no help, they won't even admit there is a problem. They just wanted to check my thyroid.It was fine.

I don't know if this is a side effect or not but on two occasions I have experienced some numbing or tingling in hands and forearms. The feeling was so different that it alamed me but it wore off later that day. I believe this type of feeling has happened twice and it has coincided with the use of Scalpicin on my scalp.

I've been taking Triamtrn/HCTZ Tab 75-50 for HBP, approx 4 years. During that time I have had three occasions when my left ankle became so inflamed, swollen, and painful to touch that I could not walk. On the first two occasions this problem was diagnosis as Tendinitis. On the third occasions I have been told that the problem may be a form of gout that can be brought on by my medication. Is it true that Maxide and its generic will produce uric acid which could ultimately lead to developing gout.

My husband has been on Lisinopril for about 2 years. On two occasions while being on vacation and snorkeling in salt water my husband has noticed severe itching on his upper torso as well as redness. We assumed that he was allergic to sunscreen. Two weeks ago we were in the Caribbean it was a cloudy day so my husband used no sunscreen. He went snorkeling. Again he started complaining of itching on the upper torso and got quite red. In thinking about this, he realized that this has only occurred since he's been on Lisinopril. HIs dosage is 5mg once a day. Has anyone had this strange side effect. Would like to hear.

I am bipolar and have been taking Lamictal for 2 to 2 1/2 months, worked my way slowly up to 200 mg/day now. Finally thought I was fine and maintaining well. A few days ago I started getting dizzy and light-headed. I've been going through a lot of stress and thought the dizziness might be because I'm smoking a lot now. This is what I've noticed besides the dizziness (I am dizzy right now): YELLING OUT during sleep (can't stop myself) and waking myself up some nights, stomach aches (may be due to diverticulitis that I have), sores in my mouth (two so far), irritibility and anger so bad I can't believe it (on two occasions recently), Cystic Acne on my face, also I have been confused, clumsy, and at a loss for words (very bad). Have tried to call my doctor today and her nurse, no luck. Will try again tomorrow. I went through hell, five medicines from January to September of this year, and I dread changing again. The holidays are here; my birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and my daughter and grandson are coming for Christmas from another state. I think that I would rather endure the side effects than try another med right now. Good luck to you all. A good doctor can make all the difference, but one must still go through the valley of death when one must change meds.

* Hoarseness (continuous)
* Phlegm in throat causing me to clear my throat frequently (my spouse is a speech therapist and she said frequent throat clearing will irritate the vocal chords and cause hoarseness)
* Canker sores occur more frequently and take longer to heal
* Two occasions of thrush (Oral candidiasis) over past year
I have always rinsed after using Advair. This medication has effectively controlled my asthma symptoms.

I took Yasmin for almost a year. The symptoms started after the first month. Feeling faint and lightheaded was really the only symptom I had until the last month I took Yasmin. That is when major things started happening. Almost everyday, my heart felt like it was going to jump straight out of my chest! Then the panic feelings set in. I was extremely scared and thought there was something physically wrong with me. I was nervous everytime I went out somewhere because I was unsure when the heart racing/panic attacks would happen. I felt helpless and on one or two occasions got very close to going to the emergency room. I finally realized that this might all be happening because of my birth contol pill. I never thought that it could have such an effect on my body...and mind! I have been off Yasmin for almost 3 weeks and feel like my old self again. I still have times when I feel faint but the heart and panic attack problems have gone away. Now I'm not sure what to take. I want to be on some form of birth control but Yasmin has tainted my view on all pills. Any suggestions?

I've been on Lipitor @ 20 grams for several years. Because of arterio diseases, my doctor upped me to 40 grams. Within a week I began to have a series of near seizure like episodes wherein my right leg collapsed. This lasted only seconds then within a minute a second such seizure. I had four such incidents then it stopped for 10 days, then the same thing again. Additionally, I have had the right hand go rather spastic on two occasions.There was no paralysis involved. Because I had cardioangioplasty and a stent inserted at the beginning of August, I thought it might be an after effect. This was discounted by my cardiologist. In early July, my left carotid artery totally occluded. My vascular surgeon was puzzled as to why this happened because a year ago testing showed only 25% stenosis, but doesn't see any relationship to what may be neuro problems. Today I took an EEG prior to seeing my neuro doctor tomorrow. Only because I overheard a man and his wife talking at the hospital yesterday, did the magic words come out about his having the exact same symptoms as I have encountered. I'd never said a word about my experiences until I heard him. His cardiologist had taken him off Lipitor. Additionally, he noted a reddening of my skin low on my forehead and recently I've had difficulty with pustules breakout on my head. This gentleman had the same trouble. All interesting. I've been at the Internet all day.
My son in law went on Lipitor a few months ago. Like me, he's a big guy. My daughter told me he is encountering difficulty with his middle ear. Anyone know anything about this potential side effect. Lejacle

October 7 Guest, are you sure you are using your monitor correctly? 138/75 sounds a great reading, but the other one would bring you near to passing out! I've read that 0.9% of Lisinopril users have stomach effects. On one or two occasions I've been part of this 0.9% myself. I started on 10 mg and have now been on 5 mg for a long while. Not qualified to give advice, but if I were you I'd be questioning the 20 mg dosage you have been prescribed. I'm 54, slim and do regular work-outs/hillwalking by the way, with no heart problems to date. Am on Zestril brand.

I am a woman aged 57 and had severe diarrhea during the past week-end. I started to use immediately one imodium pill after a bowel and then another pill after a second bowel. Since then, I still have a serious constipation for six consecutive days, during which I have gone only once in two different days to the toilet, and the results have been two small and hard excrement in those two occasions. Today is Sunday and I can not reach a doctor, so please, inform me what can I do about it now. I will be very appreciative to you for it. Thank you very much in advance for your prompt attention. God bless you! (E-mail: sSonia427@aol.com
