50 Side Effects posted for undesirable side effects

I started Topamax 3 weeks ago and gradually worked up to a dose of 25 mg in the AM and 50mg at bedtime. After one week at this dose I have to start decreasing the dose again due to undesirable side effects. I expected the tiredness, stomach pains (which subsided eventually), diarrhea, numbness in hands & fits( the doctor said that if this happened I should eat a banana for the potassium)...but I wasn't expecting the slowed physical response time and "diminished mental capacity" to be as extreme as they were. It's a good thing that I was on a leave of absence from work because I wouldn't have been safe to be at work or drive to work for that matter. It was quite disconcerting. It was so bad, I laughingly said that I should pin a note to my shirt that said "If I am lost, please return to......." ;-). I am now back to 50mg at bedtime and although am still tired through the day at least I'm not walking around in a drug induced fog. I would like to try this dose to see if it controls my migraines....the residual side effects may be worth it....we'll see??

Eureka! My unexplained weight gain (10 lbs), moodiness, fatigue, acne, excessive white discharge, recurrent yeast infections, and clumpy periods are no longer such an enigma. I previously had some horrendous side effects from Depo Provera, to include severe depression, suicidal thoughts, and hair loss; I thought NuvaRing would work great for me due to the low dose of hormones. At first, the ring was fantastic....didn't have to remember to take a pill everyday and no downward spiral of depression. The first symptom I noticed was the excessive discharge and the clumpy periods. Next was the moodiness, anxiety, and bouts of crying during every week 3 (that the bf has patiently put up with!). I have been trying to ignore the fact that my jeans don't fit, I have turned into a TV watching zombie, and I have a burning sensation associated with my 2nd yeast infection in 3 months (ugh!!!!). I wish I would have found this website earlier; it would have helped me put two and two together, acknowledge the side effects, and quit the Ring much earlier (not 11 months later!). Yes, each woman's body reacts differently to hormonal birth control, but if you have undesirable side effects from the Pill or Depo, you'll most likely get them from the Ring plus a few fun extra ones:) The upside to this product: it is incredibly convenient and my small breasts filled out. So not worth it to me!!!!!

Are you aware about short and long term side effects of this Devil's drug??? Of course, everybody reacts differently while take or withdraw. But there are high number of people who react terribly bad!!! Doctors do not want to recognize and discuss this. They just keep silent... Do you know exactly how Prednisone works??? Nobody knows this for sure, even doctors!!! From my personal experience, and despite gradual withdrawal, I developed extremely high blood pressure, weakness, panic attacks, depression! Practically it ruined my normal life! Doctors have no clue how to deal with its devastating side effects. Steroids are not selective. When you take a steroid, the drug infiltrates the nucleus of every single one OF YOUR CELLS AND STARTS MONKEYING AROUND WITH GENES IT FINDS THERE!!! It probably plays with hundreds of genes. And just a small number of these genes control the pain and inflammation associated with inflammatory diseases, so steroids turn many of these genes off which is good thing. However, because steroids are not selective, they also regulate the genes that control kidney, liver, BRAIN, and HEART function - which is not good thing!!! It is likely that steroid treatment plays with other genes, too, including those we do not know about a lot right now...So, Prednisone pervades the entire body, which increases the likelihood of short-term side effects and long-term DAMAGE. My advice is: THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING PREDNISONE!!!

Hi I was on Reglan for over six years for IBS and nausea. My GI never mentioned any side effects from use of the medicine.I have a c-spine injury that has caused some neuropathy. I never thought that symptoms that I have like extreme restlessness, shaking of my hands, feet and toes, sucking my tongue,my mouth puckers,my lips shake,my jaws tighten up,I now have a facial tic.I never even considered that taking the Reglan for so long could have caused these side effects until I was recently taken off of the medicine by my GI.He said that long term use could cause undesirable side effects like a facial tic.(Now he mentions side effects after over six years!) I then came home and looked it up on my computer and found all of these sights! I really need to get to a Neurologist one that specializes in movement disorders. If I had known of all of the side effects before taking the Reglan I could have prevented my Tardive Dyskinesia today!! My advice is always check the side effects of any medication before taking it.If only I would have I could have prevented so much long term damage! Pharmacy Companies should have better guidelines for testing their drugs before being allowed to have the drug on the market. We must send a clear message that as the public we demand better practices from our FDA.

I'm worried about all these docs who are writing scrips for this medicine for longer than periods of 5 days. the info that i got for this drug clearly states use for no longer than 5 days. i think that if more docs would actually pay attention to that kind of prescribing info, less people would have undesirable side effects & outcomes.

as for me, i have only taken it for 1 day, and i'm feeling a little jittery, like i have drank a couple of cappuccinos! I think i can tolerate it for another day or so, but then i expect to be able to take just a couple Motrin for my temporary pain.
