Folks seriously this drug is bad news. Yes it worked great for my son's asthma. We thought it was a wonder drug. Then things changed. My son had horrible side effects to this also. It took us 5 months to link it to the meds. I realized after reading this website and all the blogs from other parents. My son is 4 years old and had the following symptoms: Weight loss, poor appetite, muscle and joint pain, headaches, unexplained fevers, complained of seeing colors, blue under the eyes, severe stomach cramps and horrible horrible thoughts no 4 year old should ever experience in their mind. I did not even know who my child was that is how scary it was. This is such a dangerous drug. I have talked to several other parents who this has happened too including having seizures out of the blue with no history. I work in the medical field and it seems only a few docs are recognizing this. I have seen this in other kids. This drug may be great for others and yes there are side effects to every medication. However I do not think all these children are having the same side effects. Do you?? SERIOUSLY TAKE YOUR KIDS OFF THIS TERRIBLE DRUG, REPORT IT TO THE FDA!!!

I have acne on my neck and back, I have also suffered hair loss. I have experienced lighter periods and cramping but I don't know if that is worth being a acne infested bald women. I have also had unexplained joint pain that I have never associated with mirena, but after reading the side affects of others , this may explain it.

Hello, I have been on Topamax for about 2 months now for severe and unexplained dizzy spells\vertigo. I am at 100mg. The spells are gone thank God, because they were debilitating, but the side effects are HORRIBLE! First it was me just feeling like an idiot, dropping everything, forgetting words, losing my train of thought mid sentence... I am a hair stylist so this could be quite embarrasing. Then I got the crazy weird tingles everywhere, but they are kinda cool. Except when they wake you up in the middle of the night. AHH! But luckily the stupidness has worn off, and the feeling like I never get enough sleep has too. But now I AM LOSING SOOO MUCH HAIR! Like handfulls of it. I took a ziplock bag of it to my Dr. and (extreme, I know...) he says "yeah, that can happen..." not to me! I'm a hairdresser! I think I may go off of it... Has anyone else experienced this??? Soda still tastes like crap most days, but I don't like it much anyways. It can up your anxiety level at times too, i think. The positive is that it keeps you from overeating. The side effects get better, as in not as constant, but they never completely go away.

I have been taking Levoxyl for 15 years . About 10 years ago I developed fatigue, unexplained joint pain , leg pain and excesses heart burn. After lots of testing and specialist who could never find anything to cause these problems I was told fibromyalgia. Don't believe it. I never believed it for one minute. This is nothing more than Levoxly posioning. I am strong healthy weight and food concious and always have been. Why do all the people that are diagnosed with fibromyalgia have thyroid? Their all taking Levoxyl.

I am so glad that I found this site, and I don’t feel like I’m going crazy anymore! I’m 22 and had been taking Yasmin for 2 years. About two months into taking Yasmin I began having unexplained migraines for days that would not go away. I was prescribed medication for my migraines, and it didn’t help. Then, I became depressed and would cry about everything. I also became moody and would yell at everybody for no reason at all. I was also tired all the time and was constantly having hot flashes. I also had terrible nausea and vomiting with Yasmin. I vomited almost every night for two months! The worst symptom of all though, was panic attacks that almost put me in the hospital one time. I finally looked up the side effects of Yasmin and thankfully found this site. I have been off Yasmin for two weeks now, and already I feel like myself again! I have more energy, and I am no longer moody or sick to my stomach. I have also not had a migraine and I even feel more clear headed. Yasmin destroyed my relationship with my fiancé and I’ll never get that back. Hopefully, other woman will see this and stop taking Yasmin before it ruins their relationships. I thank all of you woman who shared your stories! I felt so much better after reading them.

I am a 46 year old male prescribed Lipitor by my doctor for cholesterol above 300 and high triglycerides. 10 mgs for approx 5 months. During this time have developed muscle pain and weakness. Thought I was just getting older. Left shoulder pain started, I have never had shoulder pain in my life (avid weight lifter). Strength and muscle deteriorated rapidly, wasting of shoulder and upper arm. Got extremely tired and confused. Started having short term memory problems, could hardly get out of bed in the morning to come to work...became depressed and despondant. Took myself off two days ago, no improvement yet. Right hip has been aching badly, have been walking with a limp. Just a miserable experience, wish i had known about all this ahead of time, never would have agreed to take it. This has been a humbling and dibilitating experience, feel the life just being sucked out of you. Look forward to relief at some point. If anyone is thinking about taking it....dont!

I have had mine for 2 weeks. I do not have any children so it was slightly painful upon insertion. I have spotted and cramped everyday so far. As my body is adjusting to the hormones, I have been very moody, unexplained crying, easily angered. I have also been getting wierd cramps in my left leg. I am only assuming it is a side effect. Besides that it is not too bad so far. Nothing motrin doesn't help.

And if anyone that is reading this is wondering about getting it and wants to know if it is painful during intercoarse... no. I cannot even tell it's in, and my husband says the same thing. I was most worried about that, and it turned out to not be a big deal.

I will post any side effects if they change.

The first of the nightmare was the cramps, aches and pains in my legs. eventually it spread to almost all over my body. I felt like could not wlk across the drive way without struggling. I am 51 years old and, without exageration, I felt like I was 81. It came on so slowly that I did not relate it to the Lipitor at first. A client of mine was the one to happen to mention one of his family member's experience to Lipitor and that's what clued me in. I stopped it that day. I have listed symtpoms below that I am suffering from. At least we can commisurate and e-mail with others who understand and know we are not making this up.

1.) extreme muscle/joint aches and pains
2.) extreme fatigue (falling asleep almost anywhere) loss of energy
3.) weight gain and bloating, especially in stomach area without any increase in food intake.
4.) urinary incontinance
5.) sweling in left leg and ankle
6.) swelling and pain feet
7.) depression
8.) memory loss
9.) loss of mental accuity
10.) increased oiliness of skin and hair
11.) loss of equilibrium
12.) diarrhea
13.) eyesight deteriorated rapidly
14.) irritability
15.) itching ended pretty soon after I stopped taking the Lipitor.

Most of these symptom come and go but someof them seem like they are here to stay. Is there a class action law suit that might prevent this happening to more innocent, unsuspecting people? Is there a list of things people can do to help the symtpoms? Another friend in need - Rebecca

Took mostly for seizures, but have been informally diagnosed with Bipolar II.

Had tremors at night, almost immediately, marked anxiety, weight loss, strange heat flashes, severe headaches (already have a migraine problem), complete w olfactory hallucinations (could have been breakthrough simple seizures, or headache auras).

Felt detached from myself and others. But the most disturbing symptom of all was auditory hallucinations. I have no history of psychosis and this only happened after starting Lamictal. Basically I could hear a constant chirping sound, subtle, but loud enough at night to keep me from sleeping unless my radio was playing to distract me from the sound. Could it have been a new form of seizure? Maybe, but regardless, the sounds started at the time I started this drug. Plus, according to a psychiatrist, I had no signs of psychosis, just the unexplained phantom sounds. One last possibility: Maybe an inner ear problem. Still would like to look into that.

People are right when they say this is still an experimental drug. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I never would have tried this drug to begin with. If any of you have had auditory hallucinations on this drug, without a history of any sort of hallucination or psychosis, PLEASE respond here and let me know about your experience. Thanks!

After taking Razadyne ER for two days my mother became dizzy, fell, and had speech impairment that put her in the hospital for 5 days. All the tests done came back fine, but because she had a pace maker and was only one baby aspirin she was given coumain. She also had an unexplained fever. The doctors made an educated guess (quote) that she had had a TIA and did not think the drug caused these symptoms. She is not on the drug now, but is now on other drugs that are causing her more problems. The ER doctor felt that it was the drug, but the neurologist and cardiologist did not think so.

I'm 40 and was on Paxil about a year and off now 3+ years. I gained 32 pounds- from a sz.2 all my life naturally because I'm just petite, to size 8!!!!! While on Paxil I did not care about anything, it was not like being depressed but I was totally mentally numb. I use to keep things tidy, and really care about how I looked, and be ambitious and creative. Yes, it took my stress away and that was good, but not for the trade offs! If I could go back I would never have taken it! I even started drinking a bottle of wine a night! It also made me vomit 6 + times in that year when I would drink too much, and I could drink plenty because I was SO numb! (I haven't puked from drinking since highschool) I briefly tapered off after a year of taking it with no side effects that I recall. I've just read several articles about lawsuits of those who commited suicide connected to Paxil and some killing others too - like the stories we hear all too often. The biggest advertisers in the TV & newspaper are PHARMA, so do you think we will hear any news on drugs like Paxil being linked to these stories, that are tradagies of real peoples lives!!!!! No.
I recently saw a billboard stating Paxil has caused LUNG & HEART DEFECTS! Which prompted me to start research and got me to this site. Turns out I have had several test on my lungs and heart over the last few years, cause I have an unexplained chest discomfort. I was diag. w/ mitro valve prolapse and have a spot on my lung?! So this is ALL now making me wonder if it's a side effect to that dam PAXIL. LIFE has stress, we all have to learn to cope by using psycho therapy or perhaps having our hormone and other levels checked in the body. Paxil is NOT a cure, it's HIGH RISK, and not worth it, drugs like this only MASK the real problem that still needs to be resolved, and there's not been enough long-term studies on all these drugs! I have wondered for a long time what side-effects I've had from it that I"m not even aware of. I've never felt the same as I did prior to taking it, my mind just doesn't seem as sharp. I never had SEVERE depression, HIGH anxiety, and suicidal thoughts until AFTER I quit taking Paxil. I got on it because my "family practice" Dr. like all of them was too quick to perscribe it when I told her I was having stress because of life changes having moved and just married and career changes.. normal life stress we all have to work THROUGH! I needed a therapist and maybe some valium, but NOT PAXIL!
I plead with you to do more exploration w/ natural approaches, excercise, and therapy don't just POP A PILL for your problems! The risk are too high.

I've been on Yaz for 1 year now. I've been in a deep depression since September ( 6 months on Yaz) for which I've had to seek treatment. It took 4 months to get me straightened out on medications and still daily I struggle with it.

Also I've noticed right shoulder pain, weight gain (60 pounds), no libido, chronic fatigue, bloating with horrible gas.Is all of this from the Yaz or is it my depression or what? I'm having a really hard time sorting thru all of this.

Has anyone ever had tons of weight gain while taking Singulair? I have been on this drug for about four years now and my weight has increased to more than 50 pounds of weight gain! I have a lot of aches and pains, leg cramps at night, insomnia, but the asthma has improved. I still get my once a year very bad attack with bronchitis, etc, but the improvement was great.

I have had everything else checked out for my weird continued weight gain and everything is normal. So I am checking out this drug and one other I am on for thyroid. (No, it's not my thyroid, my thyroid tests are normal now). It doesn't matter what I do I gain weight. Just wondering if this drug is causing it. My doc told me it was the cause of my insomnia and suggested moving it to the A.M..

I am tired of this weight gain, and it is starting more physical problems, like my bad knees. I ahve always been active and my eating habits haven't changed. Dieting is not working either. Any suggestions? Anyone else gaining unexplained weight?

Thanks!

I was just discharged from the hospital after waking up 3 days ago with muscle spasms in my back and neck, and so dizzy I could not even open my eyes. I told the paramedics, nurses and doctors I believed it was caused by Lipitor. About 4 months ago I had an unexplained siezure and suspected Lipitor was the reason. I now KNOW IT WAS.

My 3 year old son was prescribed Singulair two weeks ago. He has an unexplained bout of diarrhea, he has been having regular screaming melt downs, irrational fears of random things such as bathtub water, the cat, the doorknob etc.

He became very aggressive and inconsolable at pre-school the other day and I had to come remove him. The teachers were astounded because he has never had that type of behavior and were very concerned. I called the doctor immediately and had my husband do an internet search on Singulair side affects as I drove to the doctor's office.

He will not take this medication ever again. The doctor said she had never seen side affects to this medication. But she said that since his new behavior coincided with taking the medication she switched him to albuteral.

Please be careful with all medication. I have found that many doctors have absolutely no clue about alot of things.

Hi. I'm not a mother worrying about the side effects on my child.
I'm a male, born in 1979.
My mother showed the first risks of premature birth after 15 weeks. Her doctors must have been unaware of the dangers, because she spent her whole pregnancy under yutopar. I show no physical or mental abnormality, although the tests were thorough...
Yet, many strange things kept happening. I used to cry for hours without any obvious medical reason during my first year. As a child, I was normal... but vaguely distant. As if there was a layer between the world and me. Some incidents also happened. When I was very angry, I developped an abnormal strength and strarted devastating my surroundings, as if in a trance.
These symptoms (Then still unexplained by psychologists and doctors) lessened at 15. I graduated at 17, first of my school. I had friends, a girlfriend, and everything seemed normal, I was just considered an "original".
But at 18, my mind collapsed. I had always experienced some difficulties to focus, but there, all my thoughts seemed to run madly, forming unlikely associations, and leading to severe delirium. and yet again, no diagnosis matched my crisis (and believe me, I begged them to find one !). My parents kepts putting it all on behave of my occasional drug consumptions (a little canabis and alcohol), and ended it all by throwing me out. I tried to end my days nine times, and spent 1 year and five months in psychiatric hospitals since my first crisis.
I am now a full-engineer from one of the most notorious colleges of Belgium, but I never felt I was fit for this world, and have to keep a very tight grip on myself to prevent the crises. The best explanation I got from the psychiatrists is that I am "mentally unstable".
Only a few months ago did I relate it all to the problems my mothers had encountered during her pregnancy.
Honnestly, I do not know if my problems are due to yutopar overuse, or if the early pregnancy interruption was meant to prevent my birth because of some inherent abnormality.
I wish I knew, but not for me... It seems to be a bit late to change anything. But if that drug is the source, I would urge the doctors to investigate further on, because my life on the whole was a very unpleasant experience.
I would add that, in the last few weeks, the only side effects of yutopar I found were about the mother. I don't even know if these mental symptoms were ever studied, or recorded.

Thanks Sarah, for your suggestions I will go to chapters and try to get the book you suggested.

A message to Kim123 and the other ladies, I really feel for you! I have been off yasmin for three months and still having major anxiety and unexplained panic attacks. The original doctor that prescribed Yasmin to me totally refuses to believe it was the pill. Let me tell you that I don't care what they say, I know myself and I was a happy person, nothing could get me down. I handled difficult situations with ease, I don't know how long it will take me to get better either, all I know is that the wonderful ladies on this site are a source of great comfort.

I started taking Yasmin 11 months ago for PCOS. In addition to the Yasmin, I am taking spirolactine and metformin. I have all of the symptoms above....the depression, the anxiety, the unexplained insomnia, the lack of sex drive (I had a major sex drive before Yasmin...it's at ZERO at this point.) and extreme vaginal dryness/painful intercourse. At first I thought I had a yeast infection...and that's what my doctor chalked it up to. And finally I sat down with my boyfriend to find out if Yasmin was the cause of the vaginal dryness....because we checked out the other two drugs I'm taking...and low and behold I found ALL these horrible blogs referring to Yasmin and it's side effects. My question to all of you though...is whether you immediately switched to another birth control pill? And if so...what do you guys recommend? I used Ortho TriCyclen for a long time and don't remember any terrible side effects like this.
Thanks.
