I took Ativan for a couple of weeks straight and for six weeks or so on and off. I went from taking a 1 mg SL to 2 mg one night and it made me feel like a zombie so I cut back to the 1 the next night. Then I started getting heart palpitations so I asked a pharmacist and she told me that they can cause that and to cut back to 0.5 mg for the next three nights and get off it which I did. Two days after taking my last dose I ended up in emergency with withdrawal symptoms ranging from numbness to a tightening of a band around my head. A week later I thought that I could go back to taking just 0.5 mg a night. Big mistake as it put me right back to square one. I haven't taken one since thankfully and never will again. It is the worst drug in the universe imo.

I have been weaning off Prednisone for sometime, from 50mg down to 5mg in two week steps, 5mg at a time. I've had quite a few of the physical side effects of Prednisone, though none so severe that I would have considered not taking the drug, as it is helping the neuropathy that it was described for. When I hit the 5mg dose, I really seemed to be having trouble with my mental state. I seemed to switch back and forth from knowing what was going on to wondering if I was starting to go insane or losing touch with reality. Hard one to explain. It seems to occur later in the day when I am fairly tired. Back on 10 mg for the last three days and seem to be tired but not so mentally confused. Don't know if this is all from the Prednisone, though. Has anyone out there had any seemingly similar mental things happen on this drug. Thanks in advance for answering if you have had these experiences, they are scary and am hoping that it is the drug and not something else.

Hi Silke, Hi mollie and everyone else.
Just to chime in (again!) on the topic of weight gain, I'm also 6 months post yasmin and still the weight is not moving. No matter what I do or how little I eat it still stays the same.

Mollie, I'm glad you finally got one doctor out of the whole universe to admit that this can be a result from the pill. My doctor said 6 months should be the most it shall take for all the symptoms to fade. Well here I am six months and all and still no improvement. Honestly I'm thinking it'll never change and it's hard for me to get used to the idea that I now look like a blob. I've gained 10 lbs-went up two dress sizes. Even my face is bigger. Silke-I like the description of pudding. That more or less fits the bill. (sigh) It's so unfair.

Anyone out there thinking of going on the pill, please do yourself a favor and don't ruin your body knowingly. I wish I checked this out before.

Take care,
Shery

After only 4 days of Prednisone treatment for a painful facial rash that could not not be diagnosed by the doctor I feel like two of the dwarfs .... Grumpy and Jumpy. If I had an oozie I would kill the universe and I am a pacifist! The slightest motion in the house sets me off. My cat, who I love dearly gets on my nerves when he sits on my lap and purrs. I know about the predicted weight gain, so I just am not eating, but am taking medicine to make me sleep as much as possible. The rash is clearing but it is still painful. Today is my last day of the treatment. How long will the side effects last? I am trying to just be silent because no one in my household deserves to be jumped on by a crazy woman.
