I was prescribed Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160 Tabs for a bite on my leg from unknown origin (spider, tick, scorpion...nobody seems to know, and neither do I) and I had to take it for 10 days, twice a day. and I just felt horrible for all 10 of them. nausea, headache, intense back pain, no appetite (just thinking about eating would make me feel sick), and I also had really bad dry mouth. The 10 days ended 3 days ago, and I'm still feeling these side effects, although my appetite is slowly coming back. But this morning when I woke up, my whole body was burning hot and I had a bright red rash on my face that was very hot. The rash has been there all day, and it's really painful. All of this, and the bite on my leg is actually WORSE than when I went to the doctor to get help for it!!!

My 17 year old son was diagnosed with MRSA after getting an injury on his knee from playing basketball. After the first does he had a loss of appetite, fatigue, nauseous and severe headache. By the third day he got a fever, chills, neck stiffness and a feeling of doom. We went to the ER because his blood had not been cultured and we were afraid of sepsis in the blood. The ER doctor said it was most likely viral and sent him home. The next night he had a fever of 103, sore throat, trouble swallowing, sun burnt look, swollen eyes and cracked swollen lips. The next day we went to the urgent care and they tested him for mono, strep and the flu...(all negative). He felt awful and was so tired and feverish. The next morning he woke up with a severe rash and itching all over his body and his skin looked like it was scalded. His blood culture came back negative for bacteria and his wound has healed. I have taken him off of this drug Bactrim. This is his first day. His rash is better and his fever was down for a little while. It is 101 tonight and he just feel so tired and achy. I know it will take time for this to get out of his system. Meanwhile he is missing school and is getting depressed because he feels like he will never get better. If someone told me that fever and chills were a side effect from this drug I would not have been so worried that he could die of a blood infection. Ask lots of questions or google this site before taking a new drug.

See my earlier post (from concerned mother on 8/5/08 at 8:29pm) regarding my daughter's severe reaction to the Gardasil vaccine during October - December 2007. As stated, she continues to experience menstrual problems (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe cramping) which incapacitate her. In October 2008, her annual pap test showed precancerous cells. She is going for a re-check in February (I will post the outcome once it's known). The doctor wanted to wait 6 months for re-check but we are not comfortable with that. Just wanted to remind everyone to get their annual pap exams!!!

Im sad to find out all the problems people are having from levaquin. But now Im able to put 2 and 2 together because Im realizing whats been compromising my health. This is my second year with bronchitis and my second prescription of levaquin. I now believe its what has caused me horrible nightmares, suicidal thoughts, irritation, mental anguish, stress tendon/muscle pain in my arms and shoulders. I bent over to pick up my dog to help him into the car and I got a terrible pain in my chest. I thought I was dying. And I still have a rattle in my lungs after 2 weeks of levaquin so it has not helped at all. If anything it has caused me more problems that has opened the door for additional medications of unknown origin. I wish I could find a real witch doctor.

Started a 5 day 750mg Leva-pak on Sunday after amoxicillin didn't touch my bacterial throat infection of unknown origin. My husband mentioned these boards full of complaints, but I was so miserable that I said I would be fine--never had a problem with a drug before.
Sunday brought swollen, painful knuckles. Monday had palpitations and painful sensitivity to light. Tuesday night I was wired and couldn't sleep at all, my heart was racing, and I had asthmatic wheezing and serious shortness of breath and borrowed my husband's inhaler. The pharmacy said insomnia wasn't a side-effect (which was misinformation) and I'd be fine as long as I didn't have a rash (more misinformation). I was finally feeling on the mend as the fever had broken Tue night and I attributed the symptoms to the infection. Then I took my next dose of levaquin.
Within 10 minutes of taking it, I was considering a trip to the ER. My head was splitting, I was extremely sensitive to the slightest motion, sound, or light, my heart was racing again, and I felt violently ill to my stomach all within 30 minutes. My throat swelled to the point I could hardly breathe or swallow my spit. My temp that had been normal since the early morning hours also shot up to 101. It was so drastic and sudden that there is no possibility the symptoms came from anything but the medicine. Short of contracting anthrax, I won't ever take this again.
AND my throat is worse! They put me on augmenting now. Wish I'd gone on it in the first place.

I'm a 54 year old female. I was given Doxycycline to help treat what may be Interstitial Cystitis - bladder inflamation of unknown origin. Within 20 minutes of taking, I felt like it crossed the blood-brain barrier. I would get a weird dizzy/nausea sensation. I only took it for 10 days and I was so glad to be done as I hated how I felt while on it. What I'm worried about now and this is why I wound up on this site, is that it feels like it is still in my system a week after finishing it. After every meal, my stomach hurts. I've been having headaches --which I don't typically have. I'm having trouble concentrating and focusing on work that I have to do and feeling suddenly sleepy for no good reason. I struggled for years with depression, but have felt relatively good for the last 10 years--I never took any depression meds. Since taking this drug, I have sensations of sadness and hopelessness like I haven't felt in years. I'm worried about the time it's taking for this drug to leave my system and whether it's done some kind of permanent damage.

I used the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 45 on my nose for several months with no irritation but then my nose developed a large reddish-brown area. It has persisted for months, a biopsy produced a diagnosis of GRANULOMA FACIALE which is an uncommon inflammation of unknown origin. I'm sure the origin was something in that sunblock. Just like Jasonsh wrote in his note from Apr 29, I think regular use produces a change in the skin. I was surprised when I contacted Neutrogena that they expressed no interest in what had happened to me.
