I thought I had some new foreign disease, but now I think it's the Singulair! Thanks to those of you who have posted, I think I have finally figured it out! Since about May, I have had extremely itchy skin (like I am covered with bug bites, even though there is nothing on my skin to itch from), headaches, hair loss, weight gain, bloating, lower back pain, vivid dreams, night sweats, extreme sleepiness (taking naps during the day--I only do that when I am VERY sick), and general anxiousness. I was tested for hypothyroidism (that wasn't it), and went to my OBGYN to see if I had started menopause (I'm 43--she said that's not it, either). I hope if I stop taking Singulair, all this will go away. I hope this really is the cause of the strange and seemingly unrelated symptoms. I was starting to think I had something scary when it might just be from medication!

I am reading these posts and see a horrible pattern of doctors not informing their patients of the possible side effects of this product. I, too, was informed by my doctor that the side effects we minimal. HA! The mood swings are brutal and the night sweats/hot flashes are almost hourly! I've also had localized chest pain beyond my left breast (like a muscle pull) since about a week after receiving the shot. I will be having an endometrial ablation in 2 weeks and this dose of Lupron will have worn off by the beginning of December and I can't wait!

My three year old son was diagnosed with Congenital Hypothuroidism at 4 days old. He's been on Levoxyl for the entire three years. Our doctor told us that being on top of his medicine for the first 2 years of his life were so crucial, b/c of brain development. He's a very healthy, active boy. Now my doctor told us he has a heart murmur that had never been detected previously. Is there any chance that the medication can do this or is it simply unrelated? After reading some of the stories, I am scared. I want to know about a natural alternative. Please help, my son doesn't need to spend the rest of his life like this.

The flushing is tolreable. The itching is intolerable. I'd rather have heart surgery than suffer with that infernal itching. My cardiologist believes the severe itching is unrelated to the Niaspan because the reaction has only occured twice since I started taking the medication 6 months ago. I disagree. It seems to me the itching is caused by the Niaspan, together with some other unknown factor. There may be something to the "spicy food" suggestion posted by others. Last night, I ate a bunch of hot peppers an hour or so before taking the Niaspan. I woke at 3 am, with a mild hot flash, followed by the dreaded itching. Pure torment! My chest, back and legs were bright red. A cold shower helped a little. On the first occasion, two months ago, Benedril help some, but relief did not begin for over an hour after taking it. (Take at least two tablets!) But last night, I didn't mess around with Benedril. Instead, I took two codine tablets I had left over from surgery. Relief! If you are suffering from this terrible side-effect, may God be with you!

I have had migraines for 4 years almost on a daily basis and nothing has worked. Finally started Topamax, the first week iI felt like i had a stroke, my speech was slurred, I couldn't concentrate, I was exhausted couldn't make complete sentences, numbness in hands and feet and every thing tastes bad., I had been on 4 pills a days to start so decreased to one-i believe it it 50 mg. worked well then headaches began again after 2 weeks, so increased to 2 then again in a few weks to 3 now i have had only 3 migraines in 3 months. Still have the numbness and taste aversion but I have never felt better as far as migraines. My new problem is I am having a lot of digestive issues including cramping and constant acidy, bubbly, gassy, bloating feeling and no gas x, pepto or anything works??? Is this a side effect or something unrelated??

I've been on NuvaRing for almost a year now and am I realizing my low sex drive and depression is the cause of the Ring.

Since starting the ring I've had the following symptoms:
- low sex drive
- leg cramp (restless leg)
- depression/moodiness
- lack of energy/sleepy
- breast/nipple tenderness

I also have a microscopic amount of blood in my urine and I'm being tested next week- but this could be unrelated.

The depression thing just hit me when I visited this site- for months I've been detached and in an emotional slump. I don't want to talk to anyone at work, and I'm dying to get home at the end of the day just to lock myself in my room and not answer the phone if anyone calls.

I also feel completely uninterested in my boyfriend of 8 years emotionally and sexually - this is unusual since our relationship has been getting better over time - because of the Ring I feel detached from him and sometimes feel like I could care less if I go weeks without seeing or talking to him which is very unusual for me.

I've also had about a 15 lb. weight gain in the past 5 years from using birth control- I'm nervous to stop NuvaRing because I've heard it actually helps with weightloss.

While on Effexor XR: aggressive disposition

Withdrawals: severe dizziness, vivid and unpleasant dreams, sometimes nightmares which were unrelated to anything going on in my life. The dizziness was the worst. I sometimes felt as though I was seeing double, and could barely walk straight if I hadn't taken my high 300 mg dose in one or two days. God forbid I lose a bottle of pills or have insurance company complications.

Has anyone ever heard of a connection between taking prednisone (for 14 months straight) and 6 months later having a gall bladder attack causing removal? I had severe stomach pain for the 5 months after stopping the prednisone and thought it was leftover symptoms from the prednisone.
The stomach pain was unrelated to the cause for taking prednisone.
Help!

I have been taking Advair, Singular and a nose spray for 2 weeks with great results. However: when I was in fr a chek up I mentioned muscle cramps, I thought was unrelated but he immediately changes my prescription from ADvair and said it also ocassionally caused tiredness and sluggishness inthe morning. MY son prescribes Advair all day long and had never heard of the until I called him. He will bw watchful for this from now on.
I feel a hundred times better this morning!

I've been on it for 5 weeks now, and I'm taking myself off it today. It was intended to help with a recurring headache/migraine issue. My migraine issue has improved, but the side effects are not worth it. I will instead go back to using Imitrex or similar medications as needed instead of a maintenance med like Topamax. I am frequently dizzy, and at times expreience the spins and bump into objects. My tongue feels and tastes like I smoked a fifty cent cigar, and any type of carbonated beverage tastes completely different and awful. I have been experiencing more frequent sinus pain and sore throats and thought that it was unrelated, but after reading some of the possible side effects I now realize that it may also be part of it. I also have frequent heartburn as well. Don't let this keep you from trying it out - it works well for some. Just don't be afraid to tell your doctor if it isn't worth the side effects. I just decided that it isn't worth it to me.

My grandma had told me about a cough she had had for sometime - completely unrelated but she told me she went to the doctor and told them she was tired of coughing. SO - I have been on Lisinopril for 3 1/2 years and have a had a eprsistent dry cough the whole time. I also have allergies so I had chalked it up to that the whole time. I went to the doctor last Friday and told them I wanted help with my "allergies" as I was tired of coughing - intermittent - dry - 8-10 times a day with a post nasal drip to follow - waking me up at night and socially embarrassing. The nurse linked it to the Lisinopril but said it is usually only a side effect for those with asthma. The doctor came in and ultimately switched me to Atenolol. In a mere 3 days my cough of 3 1/2 years has all but gone. I have had only one fit since then! I was also experience extreme windedness with the slightest exertions - i.e walking up hill or up a flight of stairs which I had also chalked up to the "allergies" - I have also noticed that is all but gone as well. I had no idea this was all linked to the Lisinopril! Thank God for my grandma who was tired of her own cough too, which encouraged me to seek help for mine. I feel so much better.

I AM A 63 YEAR OLD FEMALE WITH A GENETIC IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT. OVER A YEAR AGO I TOOK LIPITOR FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. THE LEFT SIDE OF MY BODY - FACE, ARM, HAND, LEG, AND FOOT, STARTED TINGLING AND GOING NUMB. ONLY THE LEFT SIDE, AND IT WOULD LAST SECONDS, MINUTES, OR TWO HOURS AT A TIME. I COULDN'T RELATE IT TO ANY PARTICULAR ACTIVITY OR MOVEMENT. MY CARDIOLOGIST INSISTED IT WASN'T CAUSED BY AN INTERACTION WITH MY HEART MEDICATIONS (TOPROL AND RYTHMOL) AND REFERRED ME TO A NEUROLOGIST.
THE FIRST MRI SHOWED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CYST IN THE THIRD VENTRICLE OF MY BRAIN. VERY SCARY. SO I
INSISTED ON A SECOND MRI. THERE WAS NO CYST AND I LEFT THE NEUROLOGIST WITHOUT ANY DIAGNOSIS AND A HUGE BILL. MY HUSBAND TOLD FAMILY I HAD "MAD COW'S DISEASE" WHEN I WAS UNABLE TO WALK PROPERLY DURING AN EPISODE.
DESPITE THE CARDIOLOGIST'S OPINION I STOPPED TAKING
LIPITOR AND WITHIN A WEEK THE SYMPTOMS DISAPPEARED.
A FEW MONTHS LATER I EXPERIENCED VERTIGO EPISODES,
EVEN WHILE TURNING OVER IN BED, BUT IT ONLY LASTED A WEEK, AND IS PROBABLY UNRELATED - WHO KNOWS - THE CARDIOLOGIST STILL WON'T BELIEVE THE LIPITOR CAUSED
ME A PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM I KNOW MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TAKE IT SUCCESSFULLY, BUT I'M HIS ONE IN A MILLION THAT CANNOT TAKE IT. NO MORE PRESCRIPTIONS!

My 8 year old son is being treated for asthma and allergies and has been on Singulair for a week. At first it was great, no sniffing and sneezing or wheezing, then he came down with very strange symptoms. He has had in the past 4 days, fever, achy legs, finger and toe pain, headache, and coughing which seems unrelated to asthma. I took him off of it last night after reading postings on this web site. Someone should do something about this, I am reading other web sites of the awful side effects of this drug, too.

been on welbutrin XL for 4 days now. If I feel anything at all, it's very subtle. Well I can say that I have noticed a mild sore throat since day 1. This may be unrelated however. I notice some people stating "On the 1st day, so and so, then on the 2nd day, so and so" I was under the impression that it would take a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks before any FX were noticed. I guess everybodies different though. I was 1st on Lexapro, took it for 6 weeks and it did nothing at all for me. I might as well been taking Flintstone vitamins. So 4 days ago started with the Welbutrin XL after turning down the option to go on Paxil. After all the negative horror stories I've heard about Paxil, you couldn't make me try it. I've got high hopes for the Welbutrin XL, and hope I recieve the benefit of it's use and not the hair loss and other ill FX.

Taking low dose of Lipitor 20mg for about 6 months. Genital peritoneal edema gradual but kept getting worse. I had so much swelling that it felt like when I was 9 months pregnant with my son. Labia area of skin was dry and splitting. I had a hemmrhoidectomy (unrelated) 4 months after the hemmroidectomy, I suddenly had an anal fissure that the surgeon said he usually only sees in older male gay patients. I am a 44 year old female. I stopped lipitor. The swelling went down within 3 days and two week later the anal fissure is healing. My doctor that put me on Lipitor says it can't be the Lipitor. He can't exlpain it either. I don't think he plans on reporting my side effects to anyone. Now I have horrible kidney pain. No bladder pain. Doc says some blood in urine. Put me on CIPRO. 36 hours later, pain is worse. Can't bend over to put on my socks. Trying to figure out what to do.

I've been taking it for 3 years, 100mg - 200mg/day.
- My sex drive increased
- I feel productive and optimistic
- I haven't gained or lost weight that hasn't been directly proportional to my diet/exercise. I am 130lb 5'7" 25yo.

My jaw feels tight. If I go for long periods without eating, I will begin to grind my teeth, but then if I eat I'm okay.
In the beginning I noticed little changes in my body, like little tingles zapping through me (they felt good) and would feel little sparks of what felt like contentedness/joy that were unrelated to anything going on in my head or environment. Also in the beginning (first month, two) I would come home from class/work and fall asleep and take like several naps throughout the day if I could. I never had the cool dreams, though. The need for extra sleep will go away.

Needless to say, I love this drug. It's the best thing to happen to my adult life. I recall feeling useless and wasted and having no energy for life and I am now on my own, making real money, friends and taking care of myself in a neat city. if it weren't for the prescription I'd probably be living at home eating cookies and working for $8/hr at a shitty job.

I've been on Yasmin for about 2 years. It cleared my skin up really well, but gave me serious joint pain. At month 2, I went back to the doctor and he said that the side effect wasn't reported by anyone he was aware of and that the symptoms were probably unrelated. He said to stay on it a few months, and if it didn't get better, see a rheumatologist. Anyway, I stayed on it and didn't go off because I was pleased with the skin-clearing effect. The joint pain continued to get worse and my hair started falling out in clumps (it was just so dry), and last month I just got tired of it and started taking Alesse instead. In the three weeks I've been off Yasmin, my joint pain has almost completely disappeared, my hair is more healthy, and I'm sleeping much better (it's hard to sleep when your joints ache constantly!). Other than the severe joint pain and hair/skin drying, I didn't have any problems...but those side effects were severe enough to me that I probably will not go back on Yasmin again.

I have been taking Yasmin for almost 4 months now. The side effects within the first two months were very much like those described on this site: fatigue, naseau, morning sickness, spotting, etc. Those symptoms have since subsided, but new ones and potentially ones of greater concern have emerged. In addition to the fatigue, I have recently been experiencing terrible leg cramps and heart palpitations (this runs in my family). It is possible that it is unrelated to the Yasmin, however, after reading through the pamphlet and consulting with my GYN, I have learned that Yasmin is a diuretic, which can in some cases create potassium imbalances. I am in the process now of testing my electrolyte levels and consulting with my physician about stopping use of Yasmin. It certainly has not been easy or comfortable being on this pill.

I have been living in the UK for four years and started suffering with bad hayfever in the first summer. I battled through the first year with antihistamines that offered little relief. Now for the the last three years I've had a Kenalog injection from my local clinic.

Year 1 and 2 were fine, with almost instant relief. This year has been rather different - it's not had nearly the same effect and I've been battling some severe headaches in the evening, a week after having the injection.

I'm hoping they are unrelated, but given some of the texts written here, there's probably a strong chance they are as my normal routine has not changed much.

A year or two ago I would probably have recommended it without hesitation, but I'm a lot more sceptical now.

Skin sensitivity. Have to take for 3 weeks for Lyme disease. Am willing to put up with tiny side effects over those from Lyme disease. I think many of the symptoms people have been complaining about here are directly unrelated to Doxycycline.

Having taken Prilosec for many years at the displeasure of my Health Insurance carrier, I was initially pleased to be OK'd for Omeprazole. I have taken the new drug for about 2 1/2 weeks and have felt mildly dizzy, slightly depressed and I am not sleeping well. Are these connected? I think I will stick it out for a while longer in case my "symptoms" are unrelated.

The drug does control acid reflux but I think it may be messing with my brain a little. I get easily aggitated and seem to have what I describe as knots in my head. Could be an unrelated stress thing but Im not a Dr.

The truth of the matter is that it does do its job very well.

Im not too sure all the posts here are real however. Just looks like propaganda for the other drug company.
