Thank you for your stories. I thought I was feeling symptoms of HIV till I read fellow Bactrim user side effects. I intailly felt like my whole neck was very stiff and maybe sore. I had full range of motion, but felt very unusal. My glands felt slighty swollen, but had no sore throat. My ears, cheeks, and jaw line would feel sore and sometimes go numb or tingle. My appetite was completly desimated and I would have spells of nausea. I took the generic brand of Bactrim and I since have gotten a new prescription. Thannks for all your posts and I will surely check all side effects of drugs from now on!

I have been off Yasmin now for a little over a week and i'd like to think that i'm seeing an improvement in myself but I know it's too early to tell... I did wake up this morning with a sore throat once again. The past 2 months (I was only on Yasmin for 4 months) I have had a sore throat at least 3 times which is very unusal for me. The thing's i've experienced and how I have been feeling since December 2006 has been nothing short of very bad (I started Yasmin in November 2006). I guess the worst thing was my moods and the least little thing would set me off. I couldn't deal with the stress of everyday and that is very unusual for me. I've had a rapid heart beat at times and a little shortness of breath. There are nights when I don't sleep or get very little sleep. I have instances where I am either extremely cold or very warm - seems there is no happy medium lately at all when it comes to my body temperature. My head feels 'foggy' a lot of the time and I never feel rested. My eyes are a lot dryer then they ever used to be and by the end of the day I can't wait to get my contact lenses out whereas before they never bothered me. I have episodes of vertigo where I can be stood up at work then all of a sudden i'll go to move my position and i'll stumble.... thing's like that which never happened to me before. I can't believe how much I have noticed over the past few months of thing's that didn't make sense to me and I didn't think Yasmin at first until I fainted at work last week and was brought to the ER. All blood tests and EKG were all normal so it got me thinking. That night when I got home I did some research and found this site and am relieved to know that I am not the only one that has had a bad experience because of this pill. I don't know what else can explain what has been happening to me the past few months if it's not Yasmin. I was only on it for 4 packs and I felt like crap the whole time. I was initially put on it for breakthrough bleeding but needless to say because of it I experience a whole lot of other things. I'm coming off birth control pills altogether and want to have my body get back to normal. I don't know how long Yasmin has been on the market but from what i've seen - the negatives of this pill are far outweighing the positives.

here here silke!
i too was surprised at the "2 weeks and great "post! i thought yasmin was a wonder pill for the 1st 6 months i was on it,my skin cleared up,my periods were a doddle,no water retention,no cramping.i went on holiday and took 2 packs back to back and bang........ my life turned upside down! i was sooo anxious i was scared to go out,i was scared to stay in ,i cried,i had nighmares, terrifying thoughts,i couldn't eat,i couldn't sleep,i just cried all the time,i couldn't deal with my kids,i was scared to be around them because i thought i had gone crazy,i lost 35lbs because i physically could not eat or if i did i was sick,i felt dizzy,my ears felt muffled,my vision was blurred and i just felt like i was going to die. i had constant panic attacks, palpitations, racing heart,shaking...the list goes on and on,i was put on diazepam but that made me worse.i struggled on until i found this site by accident,i stopped taking yasmin 5 weeks ago and am already feeling much better,my anxiety levels have dropped massively and the panic attacks are getting easier to deal with. if yasmin works for you then that's great, were all different but please remember that we are not all so lucky! we are all here to share our experiences of yasmin and to give each other help and advice if we can, femalepara...i am glad that yasmin is relieving some of your ailments and i sincerely hope that it carries on working for you as it does for some women but please please bare in mind that if you get ANYTHING unusal, like nausea, bowel problems, depression or any of the symptoms discussed on here,it could be that yasmin has struck again.

Thank all of you for your candor. I too had been on anti-depressants for the past 3 years. I finally said enough is enough, each med had different side effects.I had lost interest in my "life" didn't want to exercise, work or really do much of anything...unless I "had to" & was becoming quite the actress going through the motions...this was NOT the ME I had known for 30+ YEARS & will not BE ME. I have the blurred vision, confusion, forgetfulness to name a few of the side effects. It has been 1 year since my divorce (reason I started it)... I no longer felt "situationally depressed" and assumed the unusual feelings I was experiencing was due to the drug and that I needed to get off of it to get my life back. So I stopped Effexor cold turkey. After two weeks & unusal side effects I got on line to see what other experienced. I too have experienced the vivid dreams / nightmares, where I literally felt as though I was "drugged". I have the cotton mouth, when tired "spaced out", mood swings, tiredness, night sweats, flu like symptoms, my appetite has increased, I had no sex drive on Effexor, 2 weeks off and it is coming back at least I'm thinking about it....I can identify with most of what I've read others have experienced on some level.
Bottom line...if I had it to do all over again. I would NOT take any anti-depressants, I suppose I was depressed divorcing & I should have been it is a major change in ones life. In hindsight I should have let my mind and body go through whatever the "natural process" was to be... because the experience going on, waiting to feel "normalcy" (which neve happened) and coming off has been awful. My point of view, there is no "magic" pill that is going to make us get up and go like the TV commercials portray. Life is difficult & I will survive without a "pill", I definately feel better over all getting the Effexor out of my system ...I'm hopeful the side effects will be short lived.

I have been taking Lipitor for approxomately 6 months. Initially on a 10 mg dose, then on a 20mg dose for the last 3 months. My doctor has now suggested a 40mg for the next 6 months as my cholesterol levels haven't come down enough. HOWEVER, in the last 4 weeks, I have been experiencing fairly bad joint pains in my fingers and an arthritic like deformity to the pinkie finger on my right hand. I have seen a hand surgeon about this and he diagnosed OESTEO ARTHRITIS (an unusal, but not unheard of condition for someone my age - 42). Is it possible that this has been caused by using Lipitor? I have never had problems like this before and I am very alarmed at the rapidity of its onset.

Just feel generally off. I have a feeling that is unusal. This is only my first week so I am going to give it a month or so before I decide to give it up.

My mother is ninety-one and is on Toprol-XL and has been for almost two years now. She started having some vivid dreams about one of her boys running away (her children have been out of the house for 25 years now) and not coming home. We thought it was the beginning of Alzheimer's and are starting her on Aricept. Could any body help me with this. She has always been very healthy until her heart attack two years ago and has never liked to take medication. She keeps asking if it could be the medicine, but the doctors say," No, these medicines are good for you!"
