I started NuvaRing almost a month ago....I thought it was going to be good for me because I didn't notice any side effects. I can't take the pill because after trying about five different ones I got discouraged....I was getting my period every day! So I thought the ring would be perfect.....and it WAS...at first! I took it out 6 days ago....today I woke up and I have mad upper leg pains. My doctor had told me that if I felt any leg pains I should call him right away...but he didn't tell me why....I researched it and it's because I could have a blood clot!!!! Thats SCARY!!!!!!! Then after reading all these blogs on here....I realized that I have been way more tired than normal. Ugh now I'm scared and I have to wait until tomorrow to go to the doctors. So much for my "PERFECT" birth control!!!

I started lisinopril 2 weeks ago for hypertension and yesterday developed swelling to my abdomen and left upper leg that it is tight over my knee and difficult to bend. I know it is a side effect to this new med since I usually swell a little on my right knee from overuse after I had a meniscus repair a few years ago and if it was from too much sitting or standing the right knee would have been the first to swell. It is too bad that this side effect developed as the medication really helped my blood pressure initially but now I feel so bloated.

I have been taking Lisinopril for about 2 months now, I haven't experienced any of the side-effects until recently I started waking up with numbness on my left upper leg. Overall I get weird sensations, mild numbness & tingling on my arms, fingers and feet. Thanks to this site, I realized my overall changing sleep patterns and numbness can be attributed to this medication. I will call my doctor to see if I can stop taking it. On a side note, my BP is definitely lower. I am 29/male.

I am 21 years old and I was on Yasmin for three in a half months (i stopped the last pack half way through). The first month i was on it, i had a lot of leg pains especially at night and sometimes to the point where i couldn't sleep. I went to the doctors and told her about this and she said it had nothing to do with the pill. My leg pain stopped after the first month i was on it and for two months i was fine. At the end of the third pack i began to get leg cramps again, but this time it was different i had little sharp pains here and there and tingling and my legs became extremely itchy. In the matter of two months i got spider veins and cellulite on my upper legs. Before the pill i had NOTHING on my legs. I searched the internet and found that birth control can cause spider veins because of the hormonal change so I thought my legs were itchy because of the spider veins so i stopped using the pill and made a doctors appointment. Three days after stopping i got my period for the second time that month. I also broke out with lumps that are red and extremely itchy. The doctor told me that the bumps are eczema and i also have a lymph node, which she said is from the eczema (which i find very strange). Two days after i broke out and got a lymph node, i got sick with a fever, extremely soar throat and a swollen neck. Today is my 7th day off the pill and im still sick. Hopefully i get better. But from being a 21 year old whos 95 pounds and having nothing wrong and starting this pill and getting spider veins, cellulite and then eczema all around the same time, i feel like im aging before my time. If anyone else has had any similar effects please let me know. Thank you.

I am not a 100% sure the experience I had was due to Singulair but it appears to be. Singulair was prescribed to me for "walking pnemonia". After a couple of days on the medications I was taking, I started experiencing pain in my knees and muscles in my lower legs. My left leg was worse than my right. After 3 days, I could barely walk and the pain was severe. I forgot to take my medicine one day and the next day my knees were much better and had less pain. I just thought I was getting better but the next day when I started the medicine again, the pain came back. I remembered when my son was on Accutane he had similar knee and leg pain because of the dryness caused by Accutane. So I kept taking the antibiotic I was on and stopped the Singulair. The next day I felt much better. On the second day I hardly had any pain at all. I was curious if anyone else had this type of side effect. Most of the postings I have seen have dealt more with depression in teenagers. I am 55.

My husband has gotten upper leg numbness and can hardly get up from a chair. He is taking red rice yeast, flaxseed oil and fish oil to help but so far he isn't any better. Hope someone out there can give us more help. The doctors just say exercise but it hasn't helped so far. Thank you all. Darlene and David

Had bacterial cyst on upper leg area. Was prescribed this medication. Within a few days I got a fever but not the type that puts me to bed. I was still active but restrained from heavy activity because I knew I was heating up. Got a cough as well. The medication still worked though. Got red dot all over chest, arms at day 8 after i was in the sun for a little bit and stopped immediately. Doctor says I had allergic reaction and that the sun triggered it. Felt well afterwards. I read about SJS and decided to pray to God all the time to avoid it from day 1. I think everyone should pray as it really does help. Just give it a try - I might have been destined for SJS but might have never gotten it as a result. Thanks God and please help everone else.

Hi,
I have taken Yasmin off and on for 3 years. I have had depression, alot of crying and erathyma nodosum ?? which is nodules in the lower part of the leg. This is a rare disorder that feeds off of Yasmin. When I am off of Yasmin I am fine. Within the first month of taking the pill I will experience sore upper leg muscles and then within 1 month the soreness will move to my ankles then nodules will become very prevleant on the bones of my legs. The nodules grow QUICKLY even over night. At one time I had 5 and the largest one was 5 inches long. This is EXTREMELY painful and will last up to 8 months from the time you quit taking them if you allow it to get this far. My Dr.'s did not know that the Yasmin was causing this until it was so developed. It was so bad that I had to have punch biopsies on the nodules and set off for diagnosis. If anyone has had this problem please let me know what you did and are doing??
Thanks E

I took doxcycline for aprox. 12 days due to a definite tick bite. I had a very nasty bullseye on my upper leg. Even though the blood test showed negative - the bullseye rash was evident, & doxycycline was prescribed as the better, stonger medicine for treating Lymes disease. the symptoms that I was having were spuratic in the beginning. (3rd - 4th) day, - slight hot & cold feeling as I slept @ night resembling a slight fever, which was uncomfortably noticeable.
Some nausea also. On the 10th - 12th days I had an irritating thin skinned feeling in my hands - washing my hands with cool water would give an icy glow to my hands as well as a cool breze or wind an my hands; super sensitive discomfort. Also while sleeping with my hands under the blankets - I would feel the sensation as if my hands were glowing hot. My lips felt a sight burning also. In addition to those symptoms, I felt as though I was developing sort of a head cold with headache & my eyes hurt. Fatigue was evident. The doctor said to stop the medicine; & that 10 days of doxycycline was enough time to combat the Lymes.

I have been on Lipitor for a few years with great results-dose 20 mg/day. I have also been regularly involved with cycling and treadmill exercise for 30 years. I am 64. Last year having climbed Mt St Helens and then Mt Hood I tried Mt Shasta. That is 14,000 feet and it is a hard climb in parts. I experienced for the first time in my life tight upper leg cramps in both legs requiring me to stop at about 12,000ft. They cleared with rest and I descended OK. Since then I have asked a lot of questions but tried Mt St Helens again on a much lower dose of Lipitor-about 10 mg every other day and have been taking Coenzyme Q-10 ioo mg per day. I have not had anything that resembles leg cramps since that change. I now will go back on 20 mg of Lipitor per day and continue my workouts to see if cramping returns. By the way, the company that sells this drug had NO INFO about this kind of problem. It is well known that all statins can induce enzyme changes, muscle inflammation, and even in very few cases severe muscle damage with rhabdomyolysis that can cause very severe problems. Are there other exercise buffs, or mountaineers that have encountered cramping on statins?

I was prescribed 500mg once daily for 7 days for a UTI. At first I thought it was really good because I always react terribly with the weirdest of any possible side effect. In spite of digestive problems, I experienced none with Levaquin and that was simply amazing.
On the third day, I had a hint of bad taste. Nothing to concern me. On the fourth day, I took a niece to the movie and she leaned on mein a way that caused me to lean to my right , straining the left upper leg. The fifth day, the back of that left thigh was so stiff it was difficult to get out of bed, but I attributed it to the way I sat (though it seemed a bit much for that). The pain did not subside all day. I woke this morning and was so incredibly stiff that it was horribly painful to get out of bed. The pain had spread to an area about three times as large as what was hurting yesterday. It became so stiff while at work that I was barely able to walk. Getting out of my chair was excrutiating. It finally dawned on me to check side effects, and this is how I discovered that my notion that the Levaquin was the culprit was on target. By the time I left work, the pain has spread further and tonight it is even more intense, but my doctor has said not to take the remaining dose. I don't know yet whether the Levaquin did or didn't work for it's purpose because it also allowed for a secondary infection that is giving me some of the same problems. Now I am treating taking Macrobid again (which my digestive tract will not like) as well as treating the secondary infection. At this point, I don't know whether the pain in the left upper leg (all of it now, not just the back of the thigh) will get better on it's own or not. I'm keeping fingers crossed.
