Upper respitory infection symptoms and conditions

I had a severe upper respiratory infection and regular well known antibiotics wouldn't kick it. I went back to the physician who prescribed Avelox. Within less than 2 minutes of taking the first pill out of the bottle I started getting sensations of bee's stinging my tongue everywhere and my lips were tight, purple and swollen. Within just minutes I started having a hard time breathing and the whites of my eyes were really bloody. Next thing I knew I could literally feel and hear my heart beat in my ears and everything sounded like I was in a tunnel. Within 5 minutes of taking the pill an ambulance was called and by the time they arrived my blood pressure was 70/16 with over 240 pulse.

When I got to the ER they said I wasn't the only one with the same issue to this drug and 3 were within the week prior to my being there. When I said I had SVT Supra Ventricular Tachycardia the doctor said people with SA Node (Natural pace maker of the heart) issues which control the magnetic aspect of your heart biting it sends something in there to screw it up and make it a big mess. I wouldn't suggest this med to anyone as I did some other research on it through the web and their reports from the FDA and there were some pretty NASTY side and long term effects of it.

Needless to say; since this happened I've developed a panic disorder and my nervous system isn't working correctly. Again; be careful what you take.

I think I had an upper respiratory infection. This is my 3rd day taking the zpak and I have been experiencing headaches and am sick to my stomach. The first 2 days I had extreme stomach cramps but they have subsided. My infection is completely gone though. I feel much better even though the side effects suck.

So I started taking YASMIN in December 07. I switched to YAZ in January 08 and just quit a week ago. So about 4 months of bc. A week ago, I broke out in hives and rashes. I would itch one spot and then others would form. The areas get hot and the welts raise up my skin. It started when I was out in the sun but it couldn't have been sun poisoning because I never got burnt. I am diagnosing myself rather than a doctor because they do NOT know everything. After reading into the YAZ and YASMIN side effects, I am not risking anymore problems. Oh and I got an upper respitory infection along with the rash. This lingering cough has a weaze and phligmy sound. My friends are concerned with it too. I have never been the type of person to suffer from any major sickness or skin problem. I am tough skinned and have never gotten any kind of food allergy. I am 24, 5'6'' and in semi-athletic shape. I am an actor and model and I cannot afford to get rashes and a bad horsey cough! YAZ was great for 2 months and now bam! Downfall happening. Temporary relief-cortozone cream and antihistamines like benadryl.

I was not feeling well for about 4 days, I went to see my family doctor and was told it was upper respiratory infection. He gave me a script for avelox. I took one of the medication around 7:00. A short time after i felt real light headed, I kept going to lay down suddenly I looked in the mirror and my pupils were big as my eyes, my heart was pounding so hard then all of the sudden it would just feel like it has stoped. I was experiencing lots of crazy thoughts throughout the night. I could not go to sleep every time I would dose off I would have a horrible thought run through my mind. I honestly thought I would not wake up to see my children or husband again. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had to deal with. I will never take this medication again.

im tore all to pieces my 22 month old had a sandpaper feeling type rash thats been there 4 2 weeks . a few days prior to the rash he had a slight caugh and stuffy nose. his dr said it was a viral rash. then a few days later developed a temp of 103. we took him back to the ped. she said he had a upper respitory infection and fluid in his left ear, she prescibed omnicef. the rash seems to be more prominent now. im very worried. she did a cbc and the white count was 15000 and the platelets were slightly elevated. she wasnt worried though and said it was a viral rash, let it run its course. so? i dont know if i should be worried or not>help

i'm taking biaxin for an upper respitory infection. I have cramps, dihherra, sad, funny taste in my mouth but now that i've been taking it for 3 days i've developed a bad rash on my thighs, buttocks, legs on my knees and behind my knees as well i also have it on my arms. The rash is red with small and large bumps is this a side effect cause it's the only thing i've taken or done differently. PLEASE ANSWER

After almost 3 days of taking Biaxin for an upper respitory infection, ended up with a bladder infection with a lot of blood in the urine and painful bladder spasms. I had a bladder infection after finishing a course of Biaxin over a year ago. Previously I only ever had a bladder infection once 25 years ago. This seems like more than a coincidence.

I have been suffering the effects of this drug since the day I began taking it, more than three full months since stopping it! I began having foot pain within hours of taking the first 750mg tablet of Levaquin. The pain moved from the top of my foot to the achilles tendon and every part of my foot in between. I did not connect the pain with the medication until 6 days into the 7 day prescription for an upper respitory infection. I have been suffering daily pain, have been wearing an orthopedic boot for almost 7 weeks and am still no closer to a resolution to this horrid side effect! HELP!

My wife began taking Singulair April 2005 because of allergies (couging with some spitting) and by June when we returned to see the Dr. she was fine but her Dr. wanted to keep her on Singulair. The first of August she began having serious coughing and spitting (mostly at night) and it continues. The x-rays and ct scans show her lungs are okay. My question/concern is the Singulair ad on TV mentions a side effect of upper respitory infection and when I brought this up to the Dr. it was ignored. My wife does pretty well during the day but takes her Singulair at bedtime and either the laying down or the Singulair is causing her to wake up every 2 -3 hours coughing and spitting.

After taking the 100/50 advair for a week, I started to get an upper respitory infection. I feel worse now than before I started taking the medication. I also get little red blotches all over my body which was not there before I took the medicine. I feel horrible and I was given this prescription by an allergist. I am sort of happy to see im not alone with these symptoms.

I was purscribed Leviquin for an Upper Respitory Infection. I was also given cough syrup with codeine.
After about 3 days, I started experiencing moderate anxiety attacks and paranoia. Immediately I suspected the codeine and stopped taking it. After two days my attacks subsided. Then on the third day, I had another moderate attack. I called my Dr. and he took me off the Leviquin too. The next day I was fine, but then two days later, I had a severe panic attack, I attempted to sleep, and could not. It lasted a gruelling 3 and a half hours.
I visited my Dr. again, and he did an intervention and put me in the psych ward for depression and anxiety. It took two days and 100 mg of antidepressant to level me out.

I have never had any reactions to codeine or any antibiodic before.

i was taken off zithromax and put on levaquin for a severe upper respitory infection. i have felt weak and dizzy since i started taking it. i can't stand up for long periods of time or even sit up. i feel a little better but can't leave the house because i feel like i am going to pass out when i walk around too much. i am nervous and anxious and have been having trouble sleeping. i get hot and cold flashes throughout the day as well. don't take this medication...
