I have been on Lipitor for five weeks. I can't believe how awful I feel. I ache all over. I my arms and elbows are sore; I have had pins and needles in my hands; charley horse like spasms in my calves (mostly at night); sharp knife like pains in my upper thighs; even my teeth hurt. I am a 46 year old female – I can’t believe this. I have made an appointment with my doctor as I have to get off this drug. I have experienced some blurred vision and hearing impairment too. If I hadn’t of found this website – I truly would have thought I was a bit crazy….
I have never had any symptoms like this before and never thought of myself as an old lady - but that is what I feel like. It is unbelievable.

I Have just spent $90 AU Dollars = $120US and after using the ring before, thought i would give it another go...its the 15th April 2009...and after two weeks of being on it i have experienced "The dreaded weight Gain" it feels more like water retention and tightness, not necessarily fat, as i am an active person, weigh 52KG , my height is 156.6 CM witch is considered normal for my age, I am 23yrs old.
BUT......now i remember what my side effects where, i stopped a year ago as i finished with my boyfriend there was no need to use it, as i have a new boyfriend now i have started it again...and my side effects are the same but now i can add two more effects its had on me:
Last year- dryness, loss of sex drive as when your body isn't naturally lubricating during the sexual experience this intern stops or disrupts the sexual process...ie foreplay and flow of intimacy.
This year- Only two and a half weeks with the ring in and i weigh
54-55 KG'S, that is 3 kilo grams (think of 3 bags of sugar) in two weeks tight upper thighs...and bloated abdominal. Pulse dryness and i guess the loss of sex drive will kick in again....so as of today i have taken it out ...and i haven't even finished the first ring....
I am not one to air these things but the weight gain was sooo sudden, i'm not allergic to anything i'm a very happy person, laid back, never broken a bone in my body...thats not important but you see my opinion is that i think the makers prayed on the fact that most of us skipped a pill or two....
( witch I was prone to do that's the
biggest reason i went on the ring)
and thought well so many women want connivance no fuss contraception and rushed an appealing concept to us lady's and the forgetfulness in most of us took it hook line and sinker....I'm a graphic designer so i can see how they may have marketed this....look it worked on me and i study marketing....soo good luck i hope this was helpful.....

Cc

I've been taking Niaspan for about six weeks now; I started out at 500mg for the first three and I'm now on week three of 1000mg. I hadn't had any side effects and I was thrilled because I can't take statins (though I do take Lovaza with success). My doctor mentioned -- but did not stress -- the "take an aspirin ahead of time" or "eat something with it) thing, so I haven't been. Three nights ago I work up from a very weird dream about my house being on fire and couldn't go back to sleep, partly because I felt hot. I got up and looked in the mirror, and as others have described, I was beet red on my neck, chest, and arms, and very itchy and hot. The "rash" was mottled at the edges. It reminded me of sun poisoning. I wasn't sure what to do; it was 5 am and I knew my partner had a bad night with sleeping already, so I didn't want to wake her. I took a Benadryl. I was wide awake, so I got onto the computer to do some stuff (never thinking I should research the damn thing!), but about 20 minutes later, I felt itchy on my stomach. I went into the bathroom and looked again. My stomach and lower back were now getting it! Interesting. I went back to what I was doing, then about 10 minutes later, my stomach was hot, so I looked again. Now my stomach and all of my back were covered, and I noticed that my neck wasn't as red. Hmmmm... 20 minutes later I looked again, and now my neck and chest were pretty clear (but still itchy) and my butt and upper thighs were getting it (stomach and back still had it). I could actually feel it breaking out on my legs! 20 minutes later, my stomach and back were clear, and my legs were covered. about a half hour later, it was completely gone. I wracked by brain trying to figure out if it was something I ate, a new detergent, a drug interaction gone wrong, but I could think of nothing. I never associated it with the "flush" my doctor told me I could get. This was so much more than a flush. The next night I was so tired that I took a half an Ambien and slept through with no problems (and remember, I had no issues before this, at least that I could remember). I thought it was a fluke. I then spoke to my father yesterday about The Rash, and he asked if it could the the Niaspan, as he had taken it before (but the flushing had been too much and he stopped). I did some research and through that I found this page. Bingo! I had already taken the Niaspan, so I couldn't try the aspirin first. Last night, I woke up at 3 feeling hot and looked, and sure enough, it was starting on my face and neck. I took a Benadryl and went back to bed. I finally fell back to sleep. I'm still a little itchy, though nothing unbearable. Tonight I will try the aspirin a half hour before and eating something non-fatty with the Niaspan. I'll give it a week to help, then I'll call my doctor. I hate to give it up if it works because I am just about out of other options to lower my cholesterol.

I have been taking Bupropion XL 150mg ("generic" Wellbutrin) once a day as a mood stabilizer everyday for exactly 2 weeks. I suddenly developed severe itching in random different areas on my body. My lower scalp, palms of my hands, and ankles were the first areas that itched but did not have any obvious marks on the skin as to what was causing it. About 3 hours later it became progressively worse and started showing tiny red raised areas in the previously stated places on my body and started to spread to my neck, wrists, mid-chest below my breasts, behind my knees, and upper thighs near the front panty lines, but even worse on my lower back.
I was becoming a bit scared and annoyed by the constant itching and the hives that were forming in those areas. I had never in my life had hives before. The bottoms of my feet were so itchy but they did not have any hives on them, they just itched! I took 2 benadryl and tried to sleep but woke up quite a bit during the night because of itching.
By morning, the hives were worse and especially on the back of my neck where it was swollen and red and I could not even bend my head back. My face was slightly swollen and my eyes were puffy as well. My right palm was so swollen and painful and I could not make a fist.
I called my doctor but he was on vacation, so I had to talk to a message service he had set up in his absence!
I went to the emergency walk-in care center near my home and was evaluated by a physician who concluded that all this was actually due to the Wellbutrin which I myself found hard to believe and wanted to deny it in my mind. He ordered me to stop taking it and prescribed all sorts of drugs to counteract the hives and itching.
I am writing this only about 9 hours after seeing the emergency physician and have had some rest and taken my prescribed medicines, Medrol ( a steroid-type drug) to treat the swelling, Hydroxyz hcl for the itching, Allegra for allergy, and Zantac for the side effects (stomach pain) of all these drugs I now have to take for a while!
The swelling has gone down a bit and itching has subsided somewhat. In conclusion I must note, that it was the pharmacy's decision to substitute the Wellbutrin my doctor had prescribed with a "generic" version (bupropion) that is still so new to the market and is still undergoing studies on human subjects. We are the guinea pigs and did not even know it.

I went on the NuvaRing in November of 2008 and have been on it for about 4 months. I'm on my 4th ring. In that same amount of time I have gainded 10 pounds. I didn't put the pieces together until today.
With normal weight gain, you know, when you stop working out for a few weeks, you feel like you gained weight all over. You notice that your arms and legs and abs are all less toned. But, with me, I feel like my upper thighs and lower abs are huge! It's like all the weight is just around my upper things and abs making it feel like bloating. My pants feel tight. But, meanwhile my lower legs, waist, and arms are still toned. My face feels a little bit bloated though too.
I called my gyno today and they said that some people do experience weight gain on the NuvaRing. I was on Depo for 2 years prior to this and never experienced weight gain on that. My gyno said it's more common to experience weight gain on the Depo. So, she thought I might be the "reverse" example of someone that gains weight from extra estrogen from the NuvaRing, but does not gain weight from the progesterone only Depo Provera.
I'm taking the NuvaRing out and continuing with my healthy diet and 4x a week exercise schedule. And, I'm hoping these 10 pounds come off and that my pants fit again! I can't afford to go buy new clothes!

YAZ BELLY!! anyone else got it? I have been on this pill for 9 months now & about to switch back to ortho novum product. Within the first mth of Yaz I developed a very round (almost menopausal or pregnant shape) lower belly. It has increased over the past 8 months to a ridiculous size that no pants fit but go figure....no weight gain for 7 months. How does ones shape change that much with no weight gain?? I actually am diligent on diet & workout 3 - 6 days a week. Have looked the same for 2 years til Yaz. Now I have to size up due to the belly & rollover. Also past 3 months I started to experience ovary pain that has become significantly worse. Ob/gyn brushed off my issues at first & passed me on to GI. I have had every stomach test & all good! Remarkable they say! So back to GI to switch this week. The only plus of this pill has been a much improved complexion & actually unlike the rest of you...increased sex drive. All I want to know is I am the only one with Yaz shape belly??

My brother passed away at 56 of a stroke. So after having my blood tests done, everything was high, cholesterol, CR Protein....doctor put me on 20mg of Lipitor....the very first day, I had severe muscle weakness in my upper thighs, back of my calves, pain in my knees, pain in my wrists, pain in my fingers. What a nightmare. I tried it for two more days, called the doctor told him, he said reduce the dose in half........not a chance, I told him I believe in quality of life, not quantity of life. I'd rather be dead, then live like that.......and yet the doctor didn't tell me to get off of Lipitor!!!

I have been io Lisinopril for several months, and the only side effect I can say is a VERY ANNOYING rash on the inside of my upper thighs. It comes and goes and gets worse with warmth, like a heat rash. I also have now developed a rash on my butt that is looks to me like shingles. Very itchy, to the point of bleeding from scratching. I treated with diaper rash ointment and triple antibiotic ointment to not much improvement. Reently tried a jock itch ointment which seems to be working. Also took myself off Lisinopril 2 days ago, and things are getting better, but very slowly........

I'm 21 and have been on Yasmin for 3 and a half months for bad acne. I was originally on Dianette but experience such severe side effects I honestly thought I'd be hospitalized, so I asked my doctor for Yasmin. All was fine for the first 2 months, but I'm now getting horrible pain in my right leg which won't go away no matter what, coupled with a pins and needles type feeling in my feet. I'm also developing spider veins on my legs, It's got to the point where I'm scared to look at my legs now in case any more have shown up! I've decided I'll come off it in a month or so, but don't know what to do to keep my acne at bay. Does anyone know of any natural remedies? I don't wanna keep messing around with drugs and hormones in case I cause long term damage!
Also, has anyone else gone to their doctor about these side effects, only to find the doctor says 'its nothing to do with the pill' when clearly it is! I saw 3 different doctors about my dianette problems, none of them believed it was down to the pill, but when I stopped taking it, my problems disappeared :/

I am 21 years old and I was on Yasmin for three in a half months (i stopped the last pack half way through). The first month i was on it, i had a lot of leg pains especially at night and sometimes to the point where i couldn't sleep. I went to the doctors and told her about this and she said it had nothing to do with the pill. My leg pain stopped after the first month i was on it and for two months i was fine. At the end of the third pack i began to get leg cramps again, but this time it was different i had little sharp pains here and there and tingling and my legs became extremely itchy. In the matter of two months i got spider veins and cellulite on my upper legs. Before the pill i had NOTHING on my legs. I searched the internet and found that birth control can cause spider veins because of the hormonal change so I thought my legs were itchy because of the spider veins so i stopped using the pill and made a doctors appointment. Three days after stopping i got my period for the second time that month. I also broke out with lumps that are red and extremely itchy. The doctor told me that the bumps are eczema and i also have a lymph node, which she said is from the eczema (which i find very strange). Two days after i broke out and got a lymph node, i got sick with a fever, extremely soar throat and a swollen neck. Today is my 7th day off the pill and im still sick. Hopefully i get better. But from being a 21 year old whos 95 pounds and having nothing wrong and starting this pill and getting spider veins, cellulite and then eczema all around the same time, i feel like im aging before my time. If anyone else has had any similar effects please let me know. Thank you.

I got the Mirena on Monday. My daughter is 7 months old and I went in originally for a copper IUD but the doctor convinced me to get the mirena. I have had bad cramping ever since, I feel like I am in the first stages of labor and the motrin is not working. The cramps go from my abdomen to my upper thighs and around my back. I also have a 3 year old son and it is making it hard for me to care for them. Today a new symptom arose, uncontrollable shaking. I called the doc. this morning and he said to give it a week I would feel better. I sure hope so.

I wish I had seen this page BEFORE I finished 5 days of Levaquin 500. The meds were prescribed for a post-upper-respiratory infection hacking dry cough that had been going on for nearly 3 weeks. I finished the meds 4 days ago and still feel super crummy. Levaquin did nothing for the cough (acunpuncturist stopped it with with several well-placed needles in my outer ear) and - before I saw this page - thought of asking the doctor for another round since I was still sick and seem to be getting worse. I have intermittent headaches, a racing heart, blurred vision, am so tired I never want to get out of bed. I'm also having a recurrence of sciatica in one hip and thigh and - new symptom! - the foot on that side is so sore it's hard to put my weight on it. I was told to report any joint or tendon pains but, according to the doctor, "they are very rare." I'm sure he told me about the symptom to protect himself "just in case" but it was clear he really didn't believe there would be problems. I took the medicine for three days, then stopped for a day because I didn't feel well. Then I thought, "Suck it in - there's only 2 pills to go and then you won't infect anyone. You don't want to be Typhoid Mary for the next antibiotic-resistant killer strain of some bug or another, do you?" I am devastated to think these symptoms will persist as long as people on this site say they will. I keep thinking I can sleep this off, or that I'm really sick with something that requires a different antibiotic. ( And how stupid is THAT?) But, from what I've read here, that's not likely to be the case. I'm 67 years old and already have compromised immune system plus sleep apnea, high blood pressure, narcolepsy, and asthma. Is there anyone out there who has been able to resolve these symptoms in less than three months? I refuse to believe I have to feel this way for the foreseeable future. And boy, am I mad! At myself as well as at the doctor. I usually research everything before I take it, but this one just slipped under the wire.

Like everyone else, I'm so glad that I found this site. I've been taking YAZ for 9 months and everything was fine/normal for the first 4 months. I didn't have any side effects, mood or weight changes. However, my arms/legs were painful when I slept at night about 5 months ago. I didn't pay too much attention but then I noticed that I started getting some celliute on my upper thighs/butt about 4 months ago. Still, I though it was just a sigh of aging and trying to put on creams etc to smooth it out....... However, after a month or two later, I started getting spider veins (just a few at first) on my upper legs/thighs and that really freak me out because I've never had anything like that before. I tried to think what was going on until I checked out this website. All these might be caused by YAZ.
In addition, taking Vitamin C supplement might worsen the situation. You can find more information under drug interaction section in the following website:-
(http://www.riteaid.com/pharmacy/monographs/drug_search.jsf).
"drugs that may increase blood levels of this drug (e.g., acetaminophen, ascorbic acid/vitamin C, atorvastatin, azole antifungals such as itraconazole/ketoconazole/vaginal miconazole). "
I don't know how this affect other people but I got more ugly spider veins since I started taking a supplement which contain Vitamin C about 3 weeks ago. I just stop taking that today and I will stop YAZ all togeter after I finish the cycle.
Please do pay more attention to your body and think twice before taking YAZ ....

I was put on a 10 day course of cephalexin 500 mg. capsule therapy post-operatively. About the 6th day I started to develop a rash, however did not attribute it to the medication until I noticed that the rash started to spread with each subsequent dosing, and the itching intensified for about 2-3 hours after taking each dose. It started and has been evident primarily in the torso, however I did have a few patches on areas of both of my upper thighs. I have just stopped taking it, as it is the 9th post-op day and will see if it subsides and how long. It did not dawn on me that this might be attributed to the medication, being summer and having mosquitoes around. Will see how long it takes to get back to normal.

I have been on toprol 50mg for almost a year than I had started experiencing side effects so my doctor switched me to 25mgs. I started experiencing hurting in my legs going around from the lower back to the upper thighs into the groin area. I had MRI of the spine and nothing had changed from the orginial diagnosis of stenosis in L5, 4, & 3. This could not cause the sereve pain I'm feeling. No one ever took a look at the toprol and how I was being effected from this drug. My legs feel as though they are going to give a way along with the pain in my muscles and joints

on day 4 of a 5-day dose of 750mg....I experienced intense shoulder pain in both shoulders---later diagnosed as impingement syndrome for which I need to do physical therapy in hopes of getting back to normal again! Also, weakness and pain in my hands and upper thighs...I cannnot unscrew a jar or open a door without pain. I am normally very active --aerobics, swimming(up to a mile 3x weekly), step, and walking....I can do none of the above!...I told my doctor to add to my chart ---no Levoquin!....the cure for my flu has been worse than the flu!....they should remove from market and/or highlight the muscular problems associated with the drug.

Just a quick note to all of you who may have had similar side effects pre and post Yasmin. I was on Yasmin for two months and realized pretty quickly this was not the med for me. I have just come off the worst summer of my life...lethargy, anxiety, no coping skills, etc. It was post Yasmin that I believe the worst side effects hit me. I woke up with an anxiety attack (never had one before) and facial tingling (felt like I had a light sunburn on my face - both sides). The tingling lasted approx 6 days - then went to my feet and upper thighs. I know this is all odd but the only correlation is possibly hormones (getting back on track post BCP). These symptoms started 14 days before my next period. Went to PCP and neurologist who both said neurologically I'm ok - no reason for these symptoms. The only thing that was low normal was a B12 level (294) so I started B12. I am now off the pill approx 9 weeks and feeling better then I've felt since June. Therefore, what else could it be? My OB/GYN said stop the pill - and she doesn't rule out any SE from BCP's. Coincidentally is not even prescribing Yasmin anymore because of other SE from women. Can't go back in time and relive these past months without Yasmin so I can only go forward and be thankful these wacky symptoms are gone and continue to hope it was all hormone related. I wish all of you well and keep plugging forward without this med. The sun is shining again.

I started taken sulfameth on Wednesday for a UTI. By Thursday evening all my joints were aching and had chills. During the night I had to get up and the calves of my legs had like cramps and aches, hard to the touch. I called my doctor after the 4th pill and my medication was changed. It has been 3 days and I still have aches. Last night I had terrible sweats, my pillow so wet I could smell the wet feathers! Apparently it takes a few days to wear off. I have never had such a reaction to a drug. At first I thought it was something else undescribable.

I started on 50 MCG of Levothyroxine last late May, due to a slightly underactive thyroid. The sides effect I am experiencing that is troubling me the most is that my hair is thinning dramatically. No bald patches, just thinning, and I had thin hair to begin with, so that makes it even more bothersome. I've also noticed that hair has completely stopped growing on my lower legs and upper thighs, and my eyebrows have thinned also. According to my doctor, my latest blood tests indicated that my thyroid levels were in ideal range now, and thinning hair isn't a side effect of the levothyroxine. I've read that it is, unless my thyroid levels still aren't ideal..and the levothyroxine is making my hair thin more than usual when in conjunction with the hypothyroidism. I'm also taking 25 mg of toprol to control tachycardia. If anyone could give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it! I'm at my wit's end as it my hair.

I have seasonal allergies and asthma. My doctor prescribed Singular and within 2 days I had gained 3 lbs. It is a struggle to prevent further gain. I am eating very healthy with normal portion sizes. I have a low fat, low carb, whole grain diet. No junk foods. Other side effects I have experienced are fatigue, weak upper arms, cramping in the upper thighs, charley horses in the middle of the night and bad dreams.

I have been taking Yaz for six months now, and I'm stopping after I finish this pack. I've been on it this long because I thought at first the side effects caused by it were just the beginnings of aging for me (I'm 25), but the acceleration of my problems has been so noticeable that I can't be in denial any more! Basically, here's what I have:
-thinner hair that comes out more easily and doesn't grow back as fast (it would be nice if this were restricted to "unwanted" hair, but this actually includes my eyelashes, eyebrows and head hair, which have all gotten noticeably lighter and thinner)
-CELLULITE, which I never had before...not only on my thighs but on my bum and CALVES, I didn't even realize it was possible to get cellulite there!
-spider veins on my upper thighs, again, never had this before
-very decreased sex drive
-thinner skin with less elasticity
-memory problems
-much increased vaginal discharge
Now, it's not all losses...my boobs are bigger when I actively take the pills, and my skin has become less acne prone...but is all that other stuff really worth it??? I think not.
