I had my Mirena inserted about 8 months ago. I talked to my doctor about having it inserted and he consigned the idea. I have irregular, heavy periods lasting about 7 days with bad cramping. I was given a many pamphlets and testimonials from women who all said it was the most wonderful thing. I even read that it was painful getting it put in, but the end results were worth it. So I decided to have the Mirena inserted. The insertion was very painful, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Fifteen minutes after it was over, I was doubled over in pain. I had to call my finance to come and pick me up. Since I have had it in I have been having about 2 -3 periods a month lasting about 5 days. They are certainly lighter than before, but they are extremely painful now. I feel tired all the time, I feel like I want to throw up a lot. I am very moody and worst of all my stomach cramps so bad, sometimes I just cry because the pain is so bad it sends shooting pain down my leg. However, if I take it out I do not know what form of birth control I should use. I rather find that out first and be sure so I won’t be in this situation again.

I've had the Mirena for over 3 years now, I've been going to the doctor for some pelvic pains and she referred me to the obgyn whom i saw yesterday i go back in and see him at the end of the month but he is almost convinced that my pelivc pain which worsens with sex is being caused by my mirena. is there anyone else who has had this problem?? my pcp seems to think that the pains are more related to endometriosis.

ok I posted a few months ago about my experience with this pill. Well Im now back to say it is starting not to work. My period started about 8 days ago and has not stopped but get this I am not taking the brown pills so I should not be getting a period @ all. Go figure. Also my breast which were large before I started this pill is HUGER now I take pictures from the neck up cuz I l look like Im swollen. I am now taking two pills a day to stop the bleeding so we will see but when this pack is gone im off these for good. I have had horrible cramps as if i was not on the pill. I can say the bleeding was considerably light considering I cannot leave out side my house when Im on my period usually. But the reason for me starting the pill was to not have periods at all!!!

I have been taking Loestrin24Fe for about a year and 2 months. Everything was going fine, no adverse side effects, just lighter shorter periods, until about the 8th month...when I skipped my period. I freaked out, however, was not pregnant, and continued to have either normal or real light periods after that. Now, about 14 months into taking the pill, I skipped my period again (2 negative pregnancy tests), and have been feeling anxious, and moody to the point where it's scaring me, I don't know why I have been acting the way I have...depressed...moody...anxious. I'm going to the gyn tomorrow -while I'm there I'm gonna ask if i should stay on it or what is going on? I'm afraid to switch to another pill..they all have their horror stories it seems. but I'm afraid to stay on this also.
does anyone know why a doctor may say its "normal?"
thanks!

After reading your stories, I am terrified that I even let my doctor talk me into getting this. I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. My husband and I weren't sure if we wanted more kids so I asked my doctor what she recommended.
We decided on Mirena so I had it put in back in December. It is now Jan.19. On Wednesday I went for my 5 week checkup to make sure it was still where it was suppose to be. Well, they couldn't find it. This was in the morning...I needed to get an ultrasound. They still couldn't find it so they did an internal ultrasound...still nothing. So my doctor ordered an x-ray.
Mind you I had my kids with me because I thought it would be quick. So they were both hunger at this point. By this point it was almost dinner time.
They finally found it back on the right side of my abdomen. NOT IN MY UTERUS!! I couldn't believe it. I now need surgery to remove it.
They will be doing a laparoscopic surgery...my doctor has never done this before. Do I let her or do I get someone else to do it? She said she has never perforated anyone's uterus before and that she would not charge me for the surgery but I would need to pay for the hospital stay. Is this right?
I don't think I should be paying for any of this.
Besides the fact that I've also been experiencing lots of cramping and pain. I 've gained 6-7 lbs., have muscle aches, crabbiness, headaches, dizziness, bloated all the time, bad gas pains in my stomach,...tired.
Was it worth it...NO!!!
I can't wait to get it out. My husband and I will stick with condoms for now until we want a more permanent solution. My husband said he would get the vasectomy at that point. I've gone through enough.
I am sure this is not a good form of bc. I'm sorry women have had to go through the same experience but hopefully more women will realize how bad it is and not get one.

I have been on femcon for almost 2 months now. i have one more week left on my second pack. anyway, i havent had any problems or any major side effects until now. i just feel like i am pregnant which i dont think i am but my breasts are so tender they feel like they could just burst, my nipples are darker and bigger. I just feel like i am really full of the time. Has anyone else ever felt like this?

This pill is wretched. The first week, I bled straight through it. The second week, I had terrible migraines and I couldn't stand up from the amount of abdominal pain I was in. Now my breasts are so tender that I have to sleep with not only my usual bra on, but a shelf bra tank top too. And I have been nauseous since I started taking them. I've lost about 8 pounds in three weeks. I'm wondering if this is normal for the upper dosage low-dose bc pills. I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen lo about two years ago but I had a lot of spotting. (even that pill made me nauseous.) Since then I've been steadily moving up the ladder of potency in terms of these pills, but how bad will these side effects become? Will they go away?

I have been taking femcon for 3 weeks so far and have been spotting ever since the first day. My period is supposed to be next week sometime. I know I have to give my body time (3 months) to adjust to this pill but is it normal to be spotting like this plus itch like crazy?

Hello, since starting yasmin 3 months ago after having a break from my previous pill (Microgynon) for nearly a year, i am having terrible mood swings, im sure my skin has actually got worse, and more upsetting to me, i have put on nearly a stone in weight despite actually upping my exercise regime and starting a healthy eating plan.
I am planning to come off yasmin in a weeks time at the end of the current pack but am really concerned about unwanted hair growth as a result of coming off the pill...im sure it happened last time, has anyone had trouble with this after stopping Yasmin? Thanks for ur help, S

I was prescribed Cipro XL 1000 x1 per day for 14 days for a first time acute prostae infection. First night felt a little dizy and moderately depressed. After a few days I noticed that when I was waking up I felt like I was having a mildly nervous twitchy feel. After a week or so I started to have unexplainable arm pain deep in what I now know as to being a tendon. Near the end of my treatment the soles of my feet started hurting regardless if I am standing or sitting. My hands feel stiff and sore however they do in the morning anyways, but the palms of my hands have a tingly burning feel to them as well. About 2 days after finsihing the Cipro I had one of the worst nightmares of my life, and 2 days of headaches, and more depressive moments resulting in making crazy statements to family and friends.
Its been 7 days since I finished the Cipro now and my arm is about 75% better but my feet are still very sore with a burning feel.
I'm 49 with no chronic illnesses and in excellent physical condition. I have never had a reaction to anything before and am not allergic to anyhting that I know of.
I sure hope that this drugs side effects are not long lasting and or life altering in a negative way ?
In my opinion this is a drug that should only be given when absoulutely nessasary
Take care

I am calling my doctor and having this thing removed ASAP. I've had it in for three months, and at first everything was fine. But lately, I almost feel as though I'm going crazy. Insomnia. Terrible mood swings and anger. Getting beyond mad and upset at simple things. My heart feels like its beating ridiculously fast - like I'm having heart palpitations or an anxiety attack. I feel like I'm in a pressure-cooker. I get unreasonably mad at my dear husband and children, which leaves me feeling so awful and terrible to be acting this way. My hair falls out in gobs, and I have a puffy tummy that is soooo not normal. I haven't had a good sex drive in years, but now the thought of sex makes me almost want to throw-up. I feel like I'm going crazy. Any problems in my life seem amplified, and I feel completly overwhelmed - and I really shouldn't feel this bad. Kids wear you out, and messes around the house are tiresome, but the commotion shouldn't make me feel this NUTS!

Hi all, i just wanted to let some sunlight in on yasmin a bit..... for years i have had irregular periods mostly four months at a time without my period, i would lash out at everything, i hated being social, couldn't stand company, always restless always jumpy, then i discovered i had nine (9) ovarian cysts very small but could be fatal eventually if nothing was done, my gynae put me on yasmin and i have been on it for over a month now i havew lost significant weight, my mood is so much more cheery, nothing gets to me, i have some more energy, sleep better, no cramping, period had been regulated all in all i have had a wonderful experience with this product, so for those who feel skeptical it could work either way for you, in my case the results was positive, Thank you YASMIN..... you mad my life normal.......

I was put on yasmin by my doctor to help decrease a ovarian cyst... I love this medication. I feel great, losing weight easily, depression much better. I am sorry for the ones who are having problems... there are always going to be people that dont react the right way to any drug. I have been there myself. I am usually allergic to every thing. I suggest... try yasmin...if it doesnt work for you try something else. Good luck

My son has been taking Adderall for about 4 and 1\2 yrs. and I will tell ya'll that it help him at first but as the yrs went by it is like he is not taking anything. He just got off of taking the Adderall XR and it wasn't even helping him any. It was like it was giving him a boost. I have read all of the storys that ya'll have put on here and they all sound just like what I am going through. There is one thing that I noticed about everyones and that is that no one put on here what was in Adderall. If you do some looking into it Adderall has amphetamines in it. That is why you only have so many days to get it filled. If you look it up in a PDR or in THE PILL BOOK it will tell you that it is pronounced ADD-ur-all and then under that it says "Generic ingredients: AMPHETAMINES" So if you are taking this I would say that it is time to get off of this med. I have taking my son off of it and he seems to bwe getting better. Adderall is just like Ritalin. Ritalin also had Amphetamines in it as well. I just thought that I would share that with all of ya'll. I am glade to see that there is a place to do this and share story's and just maybe keep someone that has not ever taken this med and that might just be thinking about putting a kid on it that just maybe this will change their mind.

hi justme. thanks for ur reply. i too have the same thing. sometimes i hear a click when i gulp.
yes i did go to a GI specialist. had a upper GI series done too which was normal. so GI thought that the problem is not acid reflux. also i feel better if i take steam and use nasonex spray. still was prescribed prevacid for abt 20 days or so and then later was told to switch to pepcid 40 mg daily which i have been now taking for abt 3 months. after i stopped yasmin the sore throat got better but everytime period is due it comes back.
family doctor told me that the throat lining becomes swollen before periods due to estrogen and fluid retention. so have to cut down on salty foods before periods r due.
thanks for ur reply. helps to know that i am not the only one on this forum who keeps on asking about sore throat :)

Hi All,
I am one week off yasmin now (had it only for a month). My burping has reduced but not completely gone. Plus i am getting constipated for past 1-2 days. Is this normal after i am off the pill? Also yesterday night i couldnt sleep well, was sweating a lot and felt my heart was pounding. This hasnt happended to me when i was on the pill.Otherwise i seem to be getting better. After stopping the pill(for a week now) is it normal that new side effects can show up.
Thanks all.
If it wasnt for ur postings i wouldnt have known that my sore throat, acid reflux was caused by yasmin.

Hi to all those ladies who r off this pill,
For those of you who had acid reflux, gas, burping and sore throat. How much time does it take for the pill to go out of the system and relieve the above symptoms? My sore throat is only 20% better and my burping dont know when it will get better. I had the pill for only a month and am off it for only 3 days so i dont expect a miracle but want to know ur experiences about when ur reflux got better.
