gagging cough, perhaps intestinal angio edema, but my hair will grow.
also i was having frequent, urgent urination,i thought it was possibly because i drink liquids frequently due to hot flashes from peri-menopause, but after taking lisinopril/htcz 10mg, my urinary symptoms improved, no urgency, go figure!

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had the onset of urinary symptoms since having the Mirena coil fitted, particularly urinary urgency.I would like to know about your experiences and what action you have taken to get help for your urinary symptoms. It would be interesting to know if you can specifically date symptoms to after the coil was fitted and if you have suffered urgency prior to the Mirena.

I had my Mirena inserted in 9/07. I was fine until 6/08. In 6/08, I started to experience strange urinary symptoms of urgency and frequency. I addition, I had pain on urination. No UTI present. I had a cysto to r/o interstitial cystitis. The physician said that it did not look like IC because I did not scream when fluid was infused into my bladder. For the last 5-6 months, I have been dealing with my strange symptoms. The GU speculated that my problems might be due to my dropped bladder, but he seemed very unsure.
A few week ago, everything changed. I started having the most severe urethal pain. I was in tears all day long with 3 kids to care for. I have wbc and rbc in my urine. ALL cultures were neg. The Dr. even cultured me for STDs. Last Thursday, I had my Mirena pulled out after reading this message board. I'm hopeful that it hasn't caused irreparable damage to my body. I still have the same symptoms 3 days post Mirena. Please let me know if anyone has had relief post Mirena.
Thank you!

I was given a shot of Rocephin and oral penicillin about 2 months ago. I have been allergic to Penicillin all my life, but my Dr decided to give it to me because I had strep throat so bad and it kept coming back. We had hoped that my allergy had miraculously gone away! With in a day, I got the worst heartburn I've ever had (and I have a hiatal hernia and esophogitis, so I'm pretty familiar with heartburn) and my shoulders were killing me. I got hives on my chest and face (no doubt from the penicillin) and my urine was bright orange. I called my Dr and told him of the symptoms and he said, must be the penicillin and put me on a z-pack. Now, another separate episode...Last week, I developed urinary tract infection symptoms and called my Dr. He gave me Bactrum and I got worse, running fever, blood in my urine, kidney pain, disorientation... etc. So I went to see the doctor and he gave me a shot of Rocephin, and oral Cipro. My urinary symptoms seemed to get better that evening and the next morning. Around 9 am I started getting a slight cramping feeling in my abdomen near my belly button. It quickly spread to my upper abdominal area and into my shoulders and upper back and the pain was so severe I was doubled over screaming like a woman giving birth to a 10 lb baby with no drugs! This pain intensified and lasted for 2 hours. My brother took me to the ER but by the time the Dr saw me, the pain had subsided. They ran blood work, and did an ultra sound and found nothing. Go figure! I even told the nurse I had been given a shot of Rocephin and that last time I had it, I had the above mentioned symptoms (orange pee...etc) While I was in the hospital, my lower back... close to my tailbone started hurting, so I figured I might have pulled something when I was having that 2 hour spaz attack. Well by that evening, I can't walk and I have pains radiating down my butt and leg. The location of where I received the shot is pretty much on fire, and sensitive to the touch. I don't know what's going on here, but I'm 100% blaming the shot of Rocephin and it makes me mad that my doctor, nor the ER doctor can put 2 and 2 together, but I have to figure it out on my own. What am I paying them for?

The doctor prescribed Nitrofuran for my UTI. I took one pill and could not sleep the entire night. I had severe piercing pain in my stomach, felt short of breath, and started to sweat. That one pill made me feel terrible, worse than having the flu. I cried out of pain. The next day I got my doctor to prescribe me something else (Levaquin) and within a day the symptoms had subsided greatly, and by the following day I felt a whole lot better.

I am in month 4 of a 4 month Lupron shot that my doctor gave to prepare for surgery. I was told I might get hot flashes, loss of libido, increased urinary symptoms for a few weeks. No one said anything and there was absolutely nothing in all the drug leaflets they gave me that would have prepared me for the the horror story that my life was about to become. As if having cancer was not bad enough.Since day 2 I have suffered so many bad side effects that I have lost count. The worst is insomnia and nothing has helped including high doses of Ambien. They suggested Lunesta but my health insurance company balked and even if they had said yes, my co-payment would be unaffordable. This stuff is more expensive than gold. I am exhausted all the time. I have terrible memory problems that are so bad that I can be talking to some I know really well and not remember their name. I am unable to concentrate on anything, my mood swings are unbelievable, I feel mentally disoriented and dissociated all the time, high blood pressure, racing pulse, high blood sugar, hot flashes, raging night sweats, dizziness, bad balance. The side effects that I can handle include nausea, headaches, diarrhea, joint and muscle pain. I am supposed to be on Lupron for 2 years. The only difference I see with my Lupron experience and others here is that my gender is MALE and I have early stage prostate cancer. Being male, my other serious Lupron side effect is complete impotence which is going to go on for a long while due to the radiation. I had radioactive seed implants into my prostate gland done a week ago and I have to follow this with 5 weeks of beam radiation. Lupron seems to be an equal opportunity drug. Lupron has messed me up so badly that for the past 5 weeks I have been off work on disability status with no chance of going back for at least a month and my Dr thinks that may be optimistic. No one seems to know how long it will take to get back to some kind of normal. I just could not function at work and ended up in my doctors office having a complete emotional meltdown. I would caution anyone, male or female, to consider Lupron very carefully before having it.
