I'm a 20-year-old female who was diagnosed with a UTI and a minor ear infection. I have been on both Doxycycline and Ciprofloxacin twice, but the symptoms have returned each time, or not gone away at all. My doctor was initially going to give me Macrobid as a third option, but decided to prescribe Avelox instead. The Cipro had given me a little nausea, but that was usually remedied by eating before taking the medicine.

Avelox is nothing like the last two drugs.

I've only taken one pill so far, and within about two hours of it (I had gotten into bed for the night), I started feeling jittery and restless. It got so bad that I tossed and turned for most of the night, and could barely function at work the next morning. I ended up leaving early and skipping my class for the day. I have a history of panic attacks / anxiety disorder, but with how long my symptoms have persisted makes me think that it's not "all in my head" like other times, especially after reading many of these reviews.

Along with the sleeplessness, my hands have felt a little rubbery (I guess slightly numb?), my head feels swollen (more than it had been previously due to my cold/ear infection), I'm a little dizzy/nauseous, my muscles ache, my mouth feels dry, and my jaw keeps twitching. I thought I was going crazy, so I called my doctor.

She told me "this is a side effect of your infections" and to "keep taking the Avelox, but drink lots of water." I believe the water part of her advice is sound, but for some reason I get the feeling that my symptoms are NOT a part of my infection. I've had the UTI chronically for about a year or so, and the cold for about two weeks. ONLY SINCE I TOOK AVELOX have I had the other symptoms. From what I've read, I'm definitely not alone. Perhaps I should switch doctors.

Wow! I really wished I looked into this prior to getting the Mirena. I have two boys and due to one having medical issues, I was wanting to wait a long time before considering having another child. My sister-n-law was telling me how great this was and it sound great too especially since my insurance covered it 100%. In April 2009, after my husband finding out he had cancer, I had the Mirena inserted. It HURT! and hurt all day. Afterwards I did not bleed much, though I never was a heavy bleeder during my periods, but the acne was bad. That was my biggest complaint the first few months. It was nice not having to worry about taking the pill every day but by July I started to feel alot of pain in my right breast. I tried to believe it was from all the stress from hubbys cancer and our son's medical issues but the pain was getting worse. By August I was scared that the pain was cancer but after my first mammogram at 29, it showed all clear. I do have alot of stress from what our family was going through last year but in October I started to have alot of pain in my lower abdomen, nausea and feeling like I have to pee all the time. Doctor treated me for UTI but the problems were still there. Had an ultrasound and found a large cyst on my ovary. By December the cyst was gone but still had pain in my breast and bad cramping without bleeding. The acne was so bad I didn't want to go out of my house. Finally today I got the Mirena removed. It felt like such a relief when she removed it. The cramping I felt changed to a very slight cramp and I am hoping this acne and pain in my breast will go away now.

I was laying on my side watching tv and then its like my heart was trying to leap out of my chest. It is sooo scary!! Im also getting terrible neck pains and headaches from this med. Im really worried can this med cause permanent heart damage?? It seems like every medication Im put on some crazy side effect ALWAYS happens.

I was given Macrobid by my OB/GYN to treat a UTI. First dose - Nothing. Second dose - horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, hot flashes, nausea, felt faint, my stomach felt like it was boiling & my heart was fluttering this was all happening while i was on the toilet!!!!!!!! I called my dr.'s office & the nurse told me to keep taking the med. it was normal. How does this make taking this med. normal. I dont think so.........Now im itching. Is it anything else that can be taken??? Im scared to take it again, but I want this UTI gone.

I was prescribed Bactrim for a UTI and felt worse after starting the Bactrim...headaches, chills, aching all over my body. On the 6th day of taking Bactrim I woke up with a burning sensation on my back, by the 7th day the burning sensation had spread around to my lower chest. the burning sensation is what you would have if you had a severe sunburn, but no redness!! It's bizarre. I told the doctor about what was going on and he said to continue the Bactrim because he didn't think my symtoms sounded like a drug reaction. I strongly disagree, so I stopped taking the Bactrim with only 2 days of medicine left. I'm now about 36 hours medicine free but from what I understand, Bactrim has a 60 hour half-life so I guess I'm still under the influence to some extent. I still have the burning sensation on my back, which makes clothing almost unbearable and sleeping isn't doable without some type of pain med to get me past the pain....Just wondering if anyone else has had this type of reaction to the Bactrim experience. I know I'll never take that drug again, for sure.

I developed all sorts of adverse reactions to that med. Now I still have the infection and they gave me macrobid...I have been on macrobid before but it has been a while. Unfortunately I took it 10 min ago before I started reading these posts. I will keep you guys informed.. Im hoping it does work for me..Fingers crossed and lots of prayers I guess..

I hate to say it, but I can relate to you all, to some effects....I went in to Urgent Care 3 weeks ago, knowing I was dealing with a UTI, I was prescribed Bactrim--2 a day for 7 days. I took the entire dose and just felt yucky. It wasn't until 6 days later that my first symptoms appeared...ultimately this is what I have dealt with, severe joint and muscle aches and pains, irritated mouth/throat/ears and tongue (YES, my tongue ITCHES), I have dry eyes (moreso than normal, since I deal with severe dry eyes) I have had pains all over my body, one comes, leaves, then a new one appears....just odd. Hot, swollen wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, feet, you name it. Rashy face/neck.... I finally made an appt. with my reg. doctor who immediately diagnosed me with an allergic reaction to Bactrim. She said you can take it 1, 2, 3...etc. times, and one of those times your body may decide it can't handle it. She also stated that your body can react to it up to 3 weeks after taking it. I took the full course which I believe is why I am having more side effects. She mentioned Lupus or Lymes Disease, but the treatment for anyone of the issues is the same....Prednisone. She told me I could take Tums with it, as it may upset my stomach, and that Claritin or Benadryl would help the itching. Thankfully some help!!! This has concerned me terribly,. knowing that so many people deal with this daily, and for NO REASON!! I would love to see Sulfa drugs off of the market, and unfortunately the drug companies do pretty well at covering their butts by putting apparent warnings on the info. sheet. Enough to protect them from most lawsuits anyway. My Doctor also stressed to me that I should NEVER take any sulfa drugs ever again, including Septra, or any drugs that mimic Sulfa drugs....therefore get well informed about the drugs you are on by your pharmacist!!! I just took my first prednisone, and am off to take a nap....thanking God for this to be over soon!! Same to you all!!

I was given Prednisone by mistake by my pharmacist! I have been taking 20mg/day for 2 months. I just found out I am not even supposed to be on it!! Now I am doing the tapering, and after only 2 days, I have gained 5 lbs, am exhausted, my ankles are swollen, and my knees and ankles ache. After 2 weeks on Prednisone, I had what seemed like a UTI. I went to my Dr. {not the one who I thought had prescribed the Prednisone} and found out it wasn`t a UTI. I recently was having very bad dizzy spells, and headaches also. Does anyone know if I will have permanent damage from taking this drug, especially when there was no medical reason to take it?

I'm 17 years old, sexually active. I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for three months now, my periods have become even more irregular. Today is December 18th, and I just had my period 10 days ago! I've had very bad back pain, nausea, I've been more tired than ever, and I recently had what I thought was a UTI, but my doctor told me it was a viral infection, and I've been sick for weeks. I don't know if it has anything to do with the pill, though. Also, I've had spotting in between periods, sometimes brown, sometimes red. It worries me. But I'm seeing my gynecologist on Monday, maybe she'll be able to help?

Hi everyone!

I had my Mirena placed almost 2 years ago. I have not had any side effects, the insertion was not too bad, a little uncomfortable but not bad. I haven't had a period or spotting for over a year.

However, this past week, after intercourse, I have just felt different. It almost feels as if I have a tampon in constantly. I was worried that maybe it had become displaced, I kept trying to feel for the strings and eventually I did feel what felt like plastic, I KNOW it was NOT the string....I went to my doctor yesterday and he said all he saw was string. He then performed the ultrasound and said the placement was perfect. I was surprised to hear this.

I still have the feeling as if something is there....I cannot explain it other than feeling as if theres a tampon...when I laugh, cough, carry my son, I can feel the pressure. I had not experienced this before this past weekend. On top of it all I'm pretty sure I have a UTI but the nurse kept blowing me off when I asked her if she wanted me to leave a sample.

I know something is not right, if it is not the Mirena, it is something.

What is your opinion? Should I make another visit to the doc or get another opinion? Has anyone else experienced this?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Ladies, please call Nuvaring today 1-877-688-2746 and ask to speak to an after-hours nurse so that you may leave a report of your symptoms. I did so today. We are also encouraged to report these symptoms to the FDA as well at www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

My story: I had been a very happy user of Nuvaring for 4 years. I stopped taking Nuvaring for four months due to the end of a relationship. Last December I inserted a new ring. A few days later I had my very first excruciating UTI. I stopped use of the ring for several months. When I did start Nuvaring again I had another very painful UTI. I thought this was a fluke... but, for THREE MONTHS straight after inserting a ring I would receive the painful, burning symptoms of a UTI. I knew this had to be an allergic reaction. My leukocytes (white blood cells, the cells of the immune system defending the body against both infectious disease and foreign materials) were off-the-charts, but no UTI bacteria was detected in my system. This was an allergic reaction.

I have yet to find a doctor who is able to help me find out more. My last doctor had never prescribed nuvaring before and had more questions for me than I had for him. I will continue to hunt for proper medical attention.
I can say this webpage was very helpful to me.

My specific symptoms were of a SUDDEN and excruciating burning sensation that developed after urination. The pain would last for several hours (typically 5 hours.) Benadryl was the only medication to ease the pain. I did develop an intense BURNING SENSATION during sex which could have been a nuvaring side effect or a ph-imbalance due to use of antibiotics.

PLEASE call and report your symptoms to Nuvaring and the FDA today.

Taking the generic version of Bactrim DS called Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160. I am a 26 year old male in generally good health. I was given this medication for a UTI and was told to take it 2 times a day for 10 days. A good friend of mine was on the exact same drug but was on it a week before I was put on it. She mentioned how it gave her bad anxiety and chest pains. This made me a little nervous but I still took it. First day I had some of the worst panic attacks of my life and I have lived with generalized anxiety disorder for the past 10 years so thats saying something right there. Racing heart, headache, hotflashes, muscle aches etc within the first few hours of taking the pill. I tried to continue on with the 2 a day regiment but was feeling so ill I cut it down to one a day on the third day. I continued on it for 4 more days till I couldn't take the side effects anymore and stopped taking it. The anxiety was so bad I had to break out my xanax which I hadn't taken in forever just to calm down. Fast forward to yesterday, I started having the UTI signs again and since the first time around the Bactrim did get rid of it (or so it seemed), I took one pill since I still had some left over. HUGE mistake. Within an hour I had the worst migraine I've ever had and felt rather fatigued. I layed down and took my temp to find my temp in the low 100s. I am also having muscle aches all over my body. Esp in my back, forearms and legs. Needless to say I didn't take anymore and even though its only been 24 hours since the first pill, I still have a low grade fever, aches and headache. Hopefully it'll subside soon but wanted to warn others about the drug.

RECAP: fever, hotflashes, panic attack, racing heart, fatigue, muscle aches, chest pain and migraines.

THANK YOU Ladies! I've recently been putting the pieces together. I got Mirena January 2009. I had my baby Oct 08 and had started losing weight but now that i realize it. i've not lost a lb. since it was put in, actually gained 12. In Feb. i thought i was getting a UTI but didn't have it checked out, it would go away then come back. it's been like that until last month and i went to get treated for a UTI and the doc told me he didn't see anything wrong with my test....then i started thinking...It has to be the Mirena! It hurts after sex really bad like my insides are gonna fall out! It's really bad. And like a few of you have said, i look 6 months pregnant! I have experienced depression but had just wrote it off as Postpartum...but not now! I'm gonna see about getting it removed! I'm ready to get back to my old self! All this time i was thinking it was because i had had a baby and wondering how all women would want to have more than one kid. I've been miserable! I look forward to getting it out!

I experienced a very painful kidney infection about 3 months ago. I was already on cipro for a uti, but when my fever got to 103, I went to the ER. They diagnosed the kidney infection and prescribed me Bactrim for 14 days. I started feeling better very soon after that, however about a week into it, i started to get a slight fever again and just a general fatigued feeling. I stated to freak out that the kidney infection was coming back so i went to my doctor. He took a urine sample and told me to keep taking the bactrim and to push lots of fluids. After I finished the Bactrim, I started to feel normal again. So, after 3 months, I got another UTI. I went to my doc and he prescribed Bactrim again, this time for 7 days. Like before, I stated to feel better almost immediately, but then a few days into it, I got that low-grade fever again and the crappy, tired feeling. I went back to the Dr., convinced I was having recurring, resistant UTIs, but my urine samples showed no bacteria at all. So I went home to keep taking the Bactrim and pushing fluids. But my temp is still about 100. Not enough to keep me bed-ridden, but Im still not feeling great. I was starting to think I was crazy, maybe I just didn't know how to read a thermometer correctly. I actually started to think that, because my doctor has no idea why I have a fever. He said that I probably have a sinus infection or a virus--that's what he said the last time. Im so glad I found this site, Im convinced now it is the Bactrim. It can be so frustrating to be sick, see a doctor, and then go home with no answers. When my doctor said I had no trace of UTI, I was shocked. I was feeling horrible, with a fever, and my doctor pretty much wrote me off when he received the results from my urine tests. I thought I was going crazy--I started to think the fever was from anxiety or something. Anyway, I have one day left on the bactrim, and I guess I shouldn't take it, but I an nervous because if there is the tiniest, little chance that i did have a UTI, I want to knock it out entirely. Having it grow into a kidney infection again is my worst fear--that and Bactrim.

I took cipro for a uti and 3 weeks later developed tendinitis in my shoulders, feet, and elbows and am pretty much crippled. Its been a month already since I got it and none of my joints have gotten better and ive been taking anti infalmmatories and herbal remedies and resting all the time. Im 19 years old and all my joints crack and i feel like im 80 years old. do not take it may work well but has terrible side effects that makes it not worth it to take unless you really need to and is a matter of life or death. ive gotten terrible depression from this as im a normally athletic swimmer and feel the need to exercise to be sane. I never had tendinitis problems before. its ruined my life.

I had my baby in April 2009 and after my six weeks I was already back down to my desired weight a week later I got the mirena and started to gain it all back I asked the doctor at my 3mth follow up and he said weight gain was not a side effect I have just continued to gain weight to where everyone says are you pregnant it seems to just be in my abdominal area. Also I believe that I am losing a lot of hair from this medication, when I take a shower my drain gets clogged and when I brush my hair I have to clean it every time because I have lost so much. I don't know if memory loss is a symptom but I have a lot of that and I am tired all the time I feel so lazy.I have severe back pain that shoots through my back to the front of my abdomen. I have experienced pain during sex.
I've had is the massive mood swings I go from 0 to 10 in .01 seconds and cannot control it. My life is a wreck I am on a roller coaster with my boyfriend of 8 yrs. We have gotten along really well and ever since I have been on the Mirena I have acted so crazy. I never want to leave my house I flip oy on him for things that have no validity. I can't go in the store shopping for anything groceries cloths nothing I have anxiety like no other I start sweating and feel like I need to get out of there I feel like I have been there for hours and have to go fast.

About 3 weeks ago I reached my breaking point. I was cramping really bad and I never have had cramps then I went to bed the next day I woke up and could not move I felt as if I had the most severe flu like symptoms ever. I had 104 temp chills low blood pressure. I was freezing cold but sweating like no other. I tried to stick it out took some aleve and theraflu they did not help. I was shaking like I was in a freezer but my body was burning up. My head felt like it was going to explode. I was vomiting but I could not eat so I had nothing to throw up. So the next morning I woke up after not really getting any sleep I felt miserable I had my boyfriend take me to the emergency room I felt so bad I could not even get myself dressed my boyfriend had to even put my shoes and socks on. At the emergency room they took my vitals my blood pressure was 54/92 and even got lower than that. My pulse was 140 my temp was 103.9 ..basically they said if I had not come in I would be dead. They took some urine and blood and there was an infection in my urine so they started me on antibiotics then they told me something was abnormal in my liver, I do not drink but maybe once a month if that usually just on occasions so I did not understand what was wrong with my liver they said I had to be admitted for 2 days to do some blood tests and keep an eye on my liver issues. After 30 tubes of blood they said I had bacteria in my blood which most likely inflamed my liver, they think the bacteria was from a uti I had developed. All the tests came back negative for the liver problems it was just inflammed. So my fever stayed and my blood pressure had gotten as low as 54/86 my blood sugar was 161 they even had to give me insulin.I ended up being in the hospital for SIX days. I am a ver7y healthy person I have never even been sick a day in my life beside the morning sickness from being pregnant with my first child, so I knew something was out of the normal. Then when I got out I researched the side effects of Mirena and I feel like I have been under advised there are so many more side effects than I was informed of. While the whole reason for me sharing my life-threatening hospital stay was because one of the side effects is Sepsis this is a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria.Which symptoms are Chills
Confusion or delirium
Decreased urine output
Fever or low body temperature (hypothermia)
Hyperventilation
Lightheadedness
Rapid heart beat
Shaking
Skin rash
Warm skin
Sepsis is caused by a bacterial infection that can begin anywhere in the body. Common places where an infection might start include:

The bowel (usually seen with peritonitis)
The kidneys (upper urinary tract infection)
The LIVER or the gall bladder
The lungs (bacterial pneumonia)
The skin (cellulitis)
The infection is often confirmed by a blood test. But, a blood test may not reveal infection in people who have been receiving antibiotics.

In sepsis, blood pressure drops, resulting in shock. Major organs and systems, including the kidneys, liver, lungs, and central nervous system, stop functioning normally.
The death rate can be as high as 60% for people with underlying medical problems. The death rate is somewhat lower in those without other medical problems.

These are all the symptoms I was having and I did have bacteria in my blood I believe the mirena did this to me.
So I dont know if anyone else has experienced this but THIS IS NOT WORTH MY LIFE I have an appointment Dec 3 to get the Mirena removed but I would like to take legal action because this is unexceptable and I BELIEVE MIRENA ALMOST TOOK MY LIFE.

I started taking aciphex on October 29, as a beginning treatment for H-pylori infection. I took it for a week. I was dressing up I noticed red patches on both my legs and arms. It looked like my blood vesels under my skin had broken, the patches were flat but I didn't have any itching. I stopped the medication immediately. I called my doctor and he told me to stop taking the medication. Two or Three days after stopping the medication I got urinary track infection. A week passed and the patches didn't go away neither the UTI, so I went to the doctor and he said the that my problems weren't caused by aciphex. He sent me to the skin doctor, he said that it was possible that the patches were caused by aciphex but not the UTI. He sent me for blood test. I am waiting for the results. In the meantime my GI doctor sent me a triple therapy for the H-pylory which includes prilosec. I started reserching this medication and it can cause the same problem I had with aciphex under the skin called PURPURA, and there is a similar problem called PETECHIAE. Now after taking aciphex I fear if there is another part in my body that is bleeding that can't be seen. I need to take the therapy to get rid of the bacteria but I'm very concerned of the side effects, because I feel that nowdays this doctor are not well informed about the side effects of these medications.

I had Mirena inserted in mid-September. I was told the insertion process would not cause pain, just mild discomfort. I am 41 and have a son born c-section. The insertion was horrific. I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 6 and I have a very high pain tolerance, but I literally almost jumped off the table during insertion. It's been two months and I have experienced weight gain of 15 pounds. I seriously look like I am 6 months pregnant now and all the gain is in the abdominal area. None of my clothes fit me. I am only 5 feet tall and have maintained my weight at 95 pounds. I was 112 pounds when I delivered my son at 31 and that is the most I have ever weighed. I now weigh 110. I had a tremendous craving for sweets after insertion. Even with my RA I have always been very active, and after Mirena I felt so tired all the time. Also, I experienced an enormous amount of hair loss, lack of sex drive, pain during urination (they thought I had a UTI or bladder infection, but test showed everything was normal), mood swings, crying all the time, and although my blood pressure was still in the normal range, it was higher than it had ever been. I never did get a period after the insertion either. The worst was the increased joint pain and muscle pain. After two weeks of the insertion I could not put any weight on my left leg and I had to start using crutches to get around. I just spent 3 weeks in an in patient physical therapy unit thinking I had done something to my left hip. I was worse after leaving there than when I went in. I had my Mirena moved this past Friday 11/20 and although I am still having some symptoms, they are subsiding. I will keep you posted. I am so glad I found this site because I thought I was going nuts.

my insertion was so bad i literally almost kicked the doctor as an instant reaction and yelled a cuss word... i had a c section delivery so pain full doesn't even describe that pain it was unbearable.. but the cramping starting the moment after insertion to about a month ago was i think worse then the c section pain id be at work almost on the floor in a ball crying in pain and the doctor said take Tylenol it will go away and nevvvvver did... i still get random cramps and sharp pains

i never had bv until i was pregnant during the pregnancy i had it one time and thought it was gone... after i got the mirena put in ive have 4 cases of bv this is November., and 3 uti's.. i got the mirena in march i believe... that is not good for my body to be on antibiotics like that ... lately ive been having terrrrrible pain when i pee like above my pubic bone.. my first thought was a uti ... went to er hoping to get an antibiotic once again... blood urine ctscan everything was normal... er doctor said its probably my mirena and i should get it taken out... i called my obgyn and she insisted i keep it in and thats not the mirena giving me those pains!!! why are these doctors so against taking it out i mean i'll get on the pill i don't care i thought the mirena would be handy u know not worrying about missing a pilll!!! wellllll i wish would have never decided to get it in ive had painful sex , very emotional, pain in general, it terrible...

alssssso my boyfriend and i obviously do not use condoms bc the birth control... now we have to use them bc hes been having a burning sensation when he pees like so bad and painful to where his legs almost buckle ... he was talking to his best friend about it and he said hes experiencing the sammmmme thing and his girl is on mirena ... they've come to the conclusion theyyyy are having a reaction to the hormone released from the mirena and it makes complete sense i don't care condom or no condom it doesn't bother me... but its the fact ... he said he felt it at one point which the doctor said your boyfriend shouldn't feel a thing... sorry if thats tmi but while having sex i feel it bad and it ruins the mood for sex with me at least...

i didn't have a pd for roughly 3 months now its heavy and clotty... then the next day nothing then the next clotty again im soooooo sick of it thank god i stumbled across this sight in search if the reaction my man was having... but now i don't feel alone for all my problems ive been having!!!!

I am so relieved to have discovered this site. I suffer from reoccurring UTIs. Two years ago I was prescribed Bactrim and within two hours felt all of the symptoms of a very serious virus, or so I thought.

Recently, I switched medical providers and was again prescribed Bactrim for my UTI. Within 4 hours I began to experience chills; the chills soon turned into a fever (fluctuating 100+) and night sweats. The symptoms continued throughout the night and into the next day when I started to get tingling skin, body aches, a severe headache with pressure behind my eyes and ears (which got worse when I bent over or stood up), vomiting, restlessness and insomnia.

I started to make a correlation between my first Bactrim incident and second. I called my Dr. to describe my symptoms and she said I most likely was suffering from both the UTI and flu. But, she recommended I stop the Bactrim dosage and call her in a few days to let her know how I was feeling. After missing the second dose of Bactrim I am starting to feel human again.

There is no doubt in my mind that this was the Bactrim. The symptoms came and went too quickly to be a virus. I still have a slight headache, especially when I stand up too quickly, but it's improving.

Thank you all for posting. No more bactrim for me!

I have been on Aviane for 3 months. I changed from Yasmin because of the cost. For the past 3 months I have gotten a yeast infection every month and one UTI. Just this month I got a yeast infection and then another 2 weeks later. Before being on this medication I never got yeast infections. I am going back to Yasmin no matter the cost.

Don't ever take this drug. I was hesitant when I saw the list of side effects. But my UTI was so bad and I didn't want to go back to the doctor for him to prescribe something else. Why he did not give me the same antibiotic that I had last winter with my previous UTI I have no idea. I had a 5 day dose. It went fine. Everything went downhill the evening of my last morning dose which was 10/24/09. Today is 10/26. The chills and aches immediately kicked in big time. I went right to bed with 2 Tylenol. It broke several hours later. Then the sweats began the next morning. Then the chills again last night. They are still here this morning. Because i am so cold I am sleeping in layers of flannel which is accentuating the horrid rash on my chest, neck, and back. The heat seems to be bringing it out. The doctor's office said I could take an OTC allergy pill but that will make me sleepy and I want to keep alert during this crisis. So I am going back to the doctor this afternoon for him to take a look at me. I may give him a piece of my mind for prescribing this crap to people. On my long list of side effects from my pharmacy is the phone number to report side effects to the FDA. It is 1-800-FDA-1088. We suffering patients need to unite against this demon drug so it is eventually pulled off the market. I was given Sulfameth/Trimetrhoprim 800/160 tabs for 5 days, twice daily, for an UTI. My pill bottle also says MFG AMNEAL - Generic for Septra DS tablets. No refills. Who want want to? Good luck to all the suffers of this doomed drug. I had to lose a day from work today and probably will do so tomorrow. And I have to somehow get myself back to the doctor today to hopefully get some relief. And living alone makes it even scarier. Something has to be done about this drug.

I am on my 2nd mirena. the first one expired and was changed after being in for 4 years...not 5. with the first one, the only side effect was the acne. ive had the 2nd one in now for just over a year and im really considering having it removed because the past 8 weeks have been hell. while i have virtually no period, i also have no sex drive, and my cramps are horrendous. headaches, nauseousness, etc. 8 weeks ago, i had all of the symptoms of pregnancy witch came back negative thru a hpt and a blood test. also had symptoms of UTI, couldn't urinate and when i did it was very little, even had the pain in my lower back which led me to believe the UTI was bad. turns out after 3 cultures, i had no UTI, ive had a cat scan, mri and a scope up into my bladder, everything came back clear. symptoms disappeared, or so i thought. here i am again with all the same symptoms and its right around the normal time i would get my period. could this be a mirena side effect? lower back pain (not intolerable, more of a nucience *sp* ) my back feels like i rubbed BenGay or Icy hot on it. has anyone had these symptoms??? im going insane!!!!!

I was in the hospital for a gall bladder surgery 2 weeks ago and found out while in there I had a UTI. The doctor's at the hospital put me on Clarithromycin the first day. Then my family Dr. came in and changed it to Levaquin via IV drip for another 6 days. I was then prescribed 2 pills for when I got home to take. The first 2 days in the hospital I had pain in my shoulder and I know that was from the air they blew into me for the surgery. BUT, after that, I have had continued shoulder, neck pain and now has spread into my wrists, my legs, virtually I feel like one big ache. Last night, I had to take my shirt off because it was hurting my skin for the shirt to touch it. My sense of taste is weird too. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome but I know that my pain right now is a direct result from Levaquin. I went in to fix one problem and came out with another one. Like I need that! I feel for all of you. I identify with most all of your complaints. I was on the drug for 10 days. I can barely grasp anything without pain in my left hand. I don't know what to do. Does this go away? Or is this permanent?
