I started Yasmin 9 weeks ago and within the first week I noticed lower sex drive and vaginal dryness. I have been on lots of different contraceptives such as ortho tri cyclen, alessa, ortho cyclen and even depo provera, I have always had these same side affects. I now have a dull headache almost every day. My biggest problem lately is within a few days after my period I experience extreme vaginal discomfort- itchy, painful and a white discharge. Last month I had a yeast infection after my period and I think its happening again. My menstrual cramps are almost non existent but I have had some mood swings but they are not as bad as when I was on other pills. We all should know that all medicine have side effects and the pills side effects are stated very clearly in the book you get with them. I know everyone feels the it won't happen to them but all medications have side effects and some unfortunately are way more severe then others, but there are obviously millions of women that love this pill. If you are having any of these horrible side effects, be your own health advocate and talk to your doctor and get off this pill immediately, so you can avoid any of these incredibly sad experiences. I am pretty sure that all birth control has uncomfortable side effects, I think that it is all trial and error until you find the one that is right for you or just use the old fashion method of counting your days and taking precautions around the time of ovulation.

Against my better judgment, I received my first shot in Oct 07 and my second in March 08. I will absolutely will not get the third. I was suspicious of the vaccine, but was convinced by my doctor to get it. I should have listened to my gut. Within two weeks of receiving the first shot, I experienced flu-like symptoms, fever, and such severe vaginal discomfort that I went to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. It cleared up, but my health felt off - worse digestion, I started getting heartburn, feeling fatigue, started seeing floaters in my vision and getting terrible headaches, and my menstrual cycle started becoming more irregular. I had always been like clockwork. I started losing weight, which was unusual, as I had always been overweight and had a hard time losing weight. I began feeling more and more irritable, but made no connections to the Guardasil shot. In March, immediately after receiving the second vaccine, my arm hurt terribly, I felt lightheaded, woozy, and had hives appear. Within 1 week, I started experiencing vaginal irritation again, fever, and had flu like symptoms. Over the course of the next month, I started to feel such severe fatigue, stomach aches, and uncontrollable diarrhea, that I went to my doctor. She told me I probably just had acid reflux. Two days later, I experience debilitating stomach pain, which lasted for nearly 1 month. I had an endoscopy, a CT scan, allergy tests, and blood work for thyroid disorders and other imbalances, all of which have come back reasonably normal and regular for my body and system. I did have some esophageal damage from acid reflux, and was put on Prevacid. Receiving no answers from the Western Medical community, I cut out gluten, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, yeasts, and sugar from my diet and started working with an acupuncturist and naturopath. Stool sampling showed signs of Candida Yeast overgrowth in my intestines and parasites, which I am combating naturally with help from my naturopath. I a got off the Prevacid successfully with her help, and am starting to feel stronger. However, since January, I have lost 50 lbs, have experienced hair loss, fatigue, eye itchiness, emotional upset, headaches, joint pain, tingling/numbness in hands and feet, lower body temperature, disruption in my sleep, decreased strength, muscle loss, continued gastrointestinal pain, alternating diarrhea/constipation, persistent Bacterial Vaginosis, and have not had my period since I received the second shot in March. While I do feel I am becoming stronger, this road is long and the journey is slow. My health is not what it used to be, my diet is restrictive, and I am taking multiple herbal and natural supplements, vitamins, and probiotics. The appearance of overall, chronic symptoms with the timing of the Guardasil shots makes me believe that I, like so many other women, am a victim of Guardasil. Don't get this vaccine.

Lately my wife has been experiencing of depression, lack of energy, muscle cramps, nausea, enlarged and soar breasts (nipples are hot also), headaches, insomnia, vaginal discomfort and sourness with and without physical contact, constipation, and other symptoms, which I cannot as a male, properly describe. Is this accumulation of symptoms normal or should we look in another direction for birth control (besides condoms)? A concerned husband, Kenny...

I had Mirena put in straight after the birth of my second child as recommended by my maternity hospital to have inserted 6 weeks postnatal and kept it in for seven months. At first I just had minor symptoms like spotting slight cramps and a little bit of vaginal discomfort due to the wires, and the only good thing was that my periods stopped eventually. As the months went on my health started to decline as the side effects crept up on me and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I just thought it was because I have two small children and I was feeling worn out/burnt-out, it got to the point that I was struggling to do everyday tasks and look after my children. I am only 24 years old and I felt like I was a 50 year old grandmother!
I had the Mirena removed 3 days ago after reading this site and I feel so much better! This company must know that there are more side effects than they have listed, yet they still fail to list the serious and debilitating side effects their product is causing people. They were sending the maternity hospital I went to products with Mirena printed on to push their crappy product. The biggest worry I have about this thing is that I am breastfeeding and I had this stupid thing in for 7 months and some of it was coming through my breastmilk and I have noticed that my 9 month old baby girl had really bad clicking joints that have got better since the Mirena removal as have mine! (although not 100% back to normal yet) This company deserves to have their product removed from the market and someone to sue the pants off of schering. The product is completely unsafe!. If there are any long term side effects to myself or my daughter I WILL SUE THIS STUPID COMPANY AND THE DOCTOR AT THE MATERNITY HOSPITAL WHO PUSHED THIS PIECE OF JUNK TO ME. The warnings are completely inadequate - because I'm sure if all the possible side effects were listed next to no-one would have it put in. I feel that this thing is pushed on mothers so that you can't distinguish the side effects from hormonal changes that could possibly occur after the birth of a child to hide the fact their product is dangerous.

I took the Nuva Ring out about three weeks ago for reasons unrelated to any symptoms. I just happened to find this site today looking at something else. I had no idea that the things that were going on with me could be related to the Nuva Ring until I'm reading these posting today. I've always had migraines so I didn't attribute them to the Nuva Ring - however several months ago (I started using Nuva Ring in March) I had to go to the hospital because I had a severe migraine for over three days and the Imitrex that usually alleviates the pain - sometimes even temporarily did not work at all. Also I had suffered from depression before taking Nuva Ring but over the last several months it had become severe. My moods were out of control. I had anxiety, crying all the time, extreme mood swings. I've had extreme fatigue but just thought it was related to the increase in depression. Last month I went to a psychopharmcologist to have a medication evaluation because I felt the depression meds weren't working anymore. The doctor doubled my dosage! I've had weight gain but just thought I was eating more than usual - no idea the Nuva Ring could have been causing the increase in appetite. I've had night sweats and during the day I'm always freezing no matter where I am. At work I use a sweater and a small blanket for my legs. This is crazy. I just thought my office was too cold (maybe it is). Some bloating but nothing I couldn't live with. I have not had any problems with bleeding or unusual cramping. No vaginal discomfort at all. Sex has been good. No problems with dryness. I found it completely convenient. I just had no idea the problems I was having could be associated to the Nuva Ring. I am so happy I found this site. I was going to start back on tomorrow but I definitely will not.

hi!
i took my first dose 4 hours ago (unfortunately before finding this website), so far i'm ok
but..... i have a little advice for ppl who have upset stomach, vaginal discomfort and some other side effects...
i'm from europe and our doctors always give us meds that replace the good bacteria in our systems.
basicallyhow antibiotics work is that they kill ALL the bacteria the good and the bad so you need help with replacing the ones you need.
i think that most of them are over the countrer in us. ask the pharmacist.
hope i'm not gonna get any of the side effects listed in your msgs.

I am a 45 yr old Triple A+ female (allergies, asthma, arthritis and GERD). Meds that I am already taking are Allegra, Flonase, Prevacid and Lodine.
I went to my clinic on July 2 and after many tests and an overnight stay in the hospital in was discovered that I had pneumonia. I was being released from the hospital with a prescrition for Tequin. My released instructions were not to take my Lodine while on Tequin.
When I talked with my pharmacist my insurance would not cover Tequin but did cover Levaquin. I asked the pharmacist on duty if I could take my Lodine with Levaquin because with Tequin the doctor said not to and she knows of no drug reaction but I should not since the Dr said not to and it is from the same family.
I received a sheet called Human Link from my pharmacy with every prescription that lists:
common uses
how to use
cautions
possible side effects
contact your Dr. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if.......IMMEDIATELY if you experience........
of the drug being prescribed.
I always read these papers.
I have been on Levaquin 500mg since July 3 and have a 10 day prescription.
I am happy to report that I have had no side affects at all.
I did call the doctor and asked about taking the Lodine and was told that taking any anti-inflammatory drug even Advil or Motrin causes severe nerous system problems.
I always research medications I take online and that is how I came to this website.
All the symptoms I have read on this site were listed on the sheet I received from the pharmacy.
See the following.
SIDE EFFECTS: nausea, trouble sleeping, diarrhea, vomiting, change in taste, headache, or dizziness if bothersome contact your Dr.
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if:
experience tendon, joint, or muscle pain or swelling, "sunburn" ( sun sensitivity), vaginal discomfort, abdominal pain, or vision changes.
CONTACT DR. IMMEDIATELY if:
seizures, mental/mood changes, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, restlessness, confusion, change in the amount of urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
This is not intented to cover all precautions, drug interactions or adverse effects.
You should always contact your doctor if you are concerned about any reaction or symptom to any medication you may be taking.
I hope this will help.

I really like the ring! I have been on it for almost three years now. At first I did have some vaginal discomfort and VERY frequent UTI/Yeast infection, but that all wore off.
-- By alexandria_albrecht | Reply | Private Message meOne thing though it is imperative to keep your area VERY clean to avoid infection and a smelly discharge!
I have a very healthy sexual appetite, no headaches or nausea, ect. I do have "PMS" and pimples but until I read everyones comments I just assumed that was me.
when i first went on NR three years ago I didn't gain an ounce. However, I went off it all this past summer because i wasn't needing BC. When I went back on it I gradually put on 15 pounds which aren't coming off!
Other than that no complaints, I think all BC methods have their cons and ill take the convenience and the extra pounds! also I never get cramps on it!
