I have been taking Synthroid for at least 10 years. I am on a very high dosage now175mcg. I have been on a lower dose but my counts were still low so my doctor put my dosage higher. I have been having a tremendous amount of body aches including finger joint aches and right flank problems. I have taken x-rays and various tests to determine what the pain is but I feel that after reading much of the side effects from this web site, much of what I am experiencing is from the Synthroid or Levothyroxin. I now feel that I need to take matters into my own hands and do more natural healing. Many doctors don't connect the dots to determine the real cause of your concerns.

Since being on this medication, I seem to have developed a chronic cough. Have had various tests to rule out other causes. Has anybody else had a chronic cough develop since using this drug?

Lipitor has successfully controlled high cholesterol for about 2 years.
My recent diagnosis with Mitochondrial myopathy at age 54 leading to surgery for ptosis on both eyes was concluded after a year of various tests with cardiologists, neurologists and optical surgeons. There was no apparent cause and just my bad luck. No-one linked Lipitor with the symptoms experienced but I am now convinced that there is a link and intend to stop Lipitor treatment.
I suffer with tendonitis in my thumbs and elbow, have exercise intolerance, extreme tiredness, no libido, muscle aches, heavy head that neck does not support well, very sensitive to bright lights, occasional nosebleeds.
Can all this be merely a coincidence - I think not.
Happy to discuss further.

Please help. I took Yasmin for 3 years wothout much problem. Last year I started to get migraines... bad migraines with yucky neurological symptoms.. dizziness, aura, a moment of weird speech. All terrifying possibilities (stroke, brain tumor, etc)were ruled out with various tests. This was so scary that it pushed me into a series of full blown panic attacks. (I had never had a panic attack in my life!) My neurologist suggested I try to get off oral contaraceptives just to see what would happen. He never attributed anything directly, just said that hormones are very powerful substances in the body and it was worth a try. I have been off Yasmin for 3 months. I had crazy PMS last month, depression on and off, muscle pain and MAJOR anxiety. i had to leave a crowded restaurant tonight because I thought I would be sick. I got very hot and jumpy and had to get fresh air. I have never had stuff happen to me like this before. I am terrified. I feel crazy.

I am a 54 year old male and have been on Lipitor 10mg for nearly five years. I had a heart attack and since then have also been taking warfarin and also Atenolol 25mg and Candestartin 8mg. I have experiences some hair loss and some back pain. My short term memory is getting poor and I have dad days when I have felt generally unwell. Fairly recently I have had cramps and muscle pain in my legs and arms. Recently I began to have fluid collect on my knees and my knees joints have become stiff and painful. I have had the fluid drained from them and had various tests and x-rays. Everything is negative - there is no sign of infection or athritis. Liver and kidney functions are normal and gout has been ruled out. I am going to ask my doctor to check for muscle damage although he has already said that there is evidence of wasting and prescribed excercises for my legs. Is this the lipitor? He has give me some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to take in the short term but these interfere with my Warfarin and I cannot take them for long. I have looked up the side effects of the other drugs and they do not seem to be so severe as those of Lipitor. I live in the UK where self help in medicine is not so prevalent as it is in the States and my Doctor will, no doubt, be sceptical when I tell him about this site. What can I take to replace this drug?

I am seeing my doctor today because of what I think are Lipitor side effects:
Leg pain, loose stools, itchy skin, lichen planus, continuous hum in the right ear, occasional 'off kilter' feeling. I have had various tests with no identifying results.

I'll do a write up of the doctor's response.
