I have gone over in my head a million times, how did this happen,it consumes my thoughts, i think about it often,my son had one devastating asthma attack, the only one we ever had at age 10, he was on a vent for 10 days in the icu for 14 days, on the ward for 7 days, they did allergy testing and said he was virtually allergic to everything, his blood showed allergens over 1000, normal would be below 200,i then questioned how can that be, he has been in a sterile enviroment for almost a month, surely then he would be allergic to the meds, well they thought i was nuts, how stupid of me to even bring that up, well 3.5 yrs later, how stupid of you not to believe me.

I started taking some form of lisinopril (5-10 mg) ten years ago when I needed to lose 20-30 pounds, and had a mild BP problem. Now I need to lose 50-80 pounds, even though I no longer eat boxes of cookies, candy bars, packaged foods, salty snacks, crackers. No soft drinks (no diet either). Gave up butter, eggs, cheese last October. I also stopped baking cookies and cakes. I haven't lost 20 pounds yet. I too think my doctor is a quack and in cahoots with the drug pushers. They try to make you think every pain and discomfort is your weight and from what I'm reading, it's that %#@& snake poison. I forgot to mention the itchy eyes and the cough. I thought I was allergic to my house. I wake up reaching for the Visine. My doctor subscribed a tiny bottle of eye drops that cost $100. Yes, that's what I said. Once, about 5 or 6 years ago, I woke up and my head was the size of a prize winning pumpkin. Never did figure out what caused it, until now. Thanks for letting me vent. :-)

I have almost lost my voice and difficulty in swallowing. I have been itching lots, but am realizing that Advair may be the cause.

Prior to Advair, I had been on Flo-Vent with not problems.

Anna here again.

I've been researching too. To the person who got their life back immediately after coming off Yasmin, you are SO lucky. I think the longer you've been on it the longer that takes, and I've been on it pretty much since it was launched. Came off it mid-cycle in September after a mini stroke and I thought I was ok for a couple of months, but then all this started.

The worst thing is the dizziness--I thought I was going to faint and I had 4 kids in the car! And I thought the jitters were a heart attack. I'm used to them now but they're still unpleasant.

Also, was anyone else diagnosed with hypothyroidism while on Yasmin? I was, and no one suggested there was a relationship. But now I think Yasmin is responsible for pretty much everything that's happened to me since 2003, including the stroke.

I just hope I feel better soon. Sorry to vent.

Oh my heavens, I had no idea this site was even here. THANK YOU!! I was given Levaquin back in April 2006 for a urinaty tract infection. At the end of a family vacation in Florida I was feeling ill. I have been in the hospital 48 days, 3 hospital stays, including being transferred to Jefferson in Philadelphia, where they saved my life. I developed C Diff, a severe intestinal bacterial infection that I am still fighting over 4 months later. This is the second time I have had this infection. I was hospitalized with it in 2001 also, and just realized that I had been on Levaquin for a UTI then too. I know of at least two other people who have become ill from this of late also.
Yes, we need to get this medication off the market. I almost died twice before being sent to Philadelphia while in my local hospital. I will take NOTHING without talking with my Philly Dr. now. I had to go back to Jefferson again this past week because I'm sick again with the same symptoms. I'm only 59 and spend most days in bed, or at least near a bathroom. I've had so many test that I cannot count them anymore.
Thank you for letting vent this.

It has been a year ago since I had my reaction to Levaquin. On Feb. 11, 2005; I suffered an anaphexia reaction and had to be put on the vent for 3 days. I remained in CCU for 6 of the 7 days I was in the hospital. I took Levaquin about 5pm that evening and all of a sudden I became very tired. I went to lay down and 20 minutes later I woke with my ears on fire. I went to the bathroom and looked at my ears and they were both bright red with a rash on both of them. Then these red marks began to go down my neck, down my arms and it was covering my whole body. I went immediately to the emergency room. The triage nurse asked me some questions and my lips began to turn blue and my tongue was swelling even bigger. The nurse put me back in the Urgent care where I was left. I was not put on any monitors or seen by any doctor. Then within 5 minutes a nurse showed up, didn't check my arm band to see if it was me and gave me a shot of ephirenephrine in my stomach and walked away. As she turned the corner, I was laying down on my back telling my daughter to go get a "real" doctor, something was wrong. The next thing I knew, I was being surrounded by a bunch of people and being told they were about to put me out and put me on the vent. I just wanted to go away. I did. I lost 3 days of my life. Now, it has been over a year since this happened. I am extremely hypersensitive. Now I am experiencing allergic reactions to everything I eat. It starts with the very tip of my tongue going numb and tingling. Then it goes to the middle of my tongue, which makes my tongue thick, then it goes to my Uvala and down my throat. My hands get real red and I become very thrusty. But it hasn't bothered my breathing at all. Does anyone out there have these same symptoms? If so, what is it called? and do you know how to get rid of it? Thanks.

In February, 2005, I had a severe allergic reaction to Levaquin. The day I received the prescription for Levaquin. I took my first dose at 5pm. As soon as I took the pill, I became very sleepy, so I went to bed. At 520pm, I awoke suddenly because my ears felt as if they were on fire. When I went to the bathroom mirror to look at my ears, they were both firey red and ringing. I then experienced some tightness in my throat and my tongue began to swell. So I ask my daughter to go with me to the emergency room. So we left to go to the emergency room. When I got there, which we only lived about 2and 1/2 miles away, my lips had begun to turn blue and my tongue was getting thick feeling. The triage nurse put me in a wheelchair and brought me back to urgent care. I sat down on a wood table and was talking to my daughter trying not to worry. Then a nurse arrived with a shot of ephinephrine and gave it to me in my stomach. As soon as the nurse left and was out of sight I started to lay back onto the table, as I was telling my daughter to get a doctor something was wrong. Then when I came to I had an oxygen mask over my mouth and all the doctors and nurses surrounding me, telling me to remain calm they are going to put me asleep so that they can intabate me, (stick a tube down my throat to breath for me). The next time I woke up, I had been on a "vent" for 3 days and they had to supply me with 10 liters of fluid after they got me on the 'vent'. I stayed a week in the hospital before I was discharged. My body swelled up so badly, I looked like I was a pumpkin about to pop open. I had small little dots all over my body for weeks after this episode. I can now take no antibotics. I am allergic to all antibotics so If I get an infection, I am out of luck!

I have been on prednisone off and on for 5 years and constantly since November, 2005. I swear there are plenty of times that I think I would rather deal with the asthma! I have a vicious never ending cycle. I take Prednisone (currently 120mg daily) for asthma, Hydrocodone and Darvocet for the knee and hip pain caused from the Prednisone, Phenagrin to counter act the nausea caused by the Prednisone and Ambien to counter act the jitters I get from the Phenagrin. It's like being a doctor order legalized drug addict. It's VERY depressing. My asthma is chronic enough that I'm on disability for it. I also weighed 108 pounds 5 years ago and now a whopping 186 thanks to all of the water weight and increased appetite. I was THRILLED to come across this site of people needing to vent!

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while! Hi Trailblazen!

Anyway, good point it sure shows some moodiness here lately, LOL. But I gotta say that from all the incidents we have had before I've actually never seen somebody calling names to another person here at this site. I was in shock to read somebody calling an idiot to someone b/c of a spelling error or whatever the case, you are right they should go and vent somewhere else.
God Bless every and each one of you!

Unfortunately the rudeness from the responses are probably another side effect from the prednisone. I have been on for 3 months now, up to 40 mg a day and I have body aches, feels like my bones are brittle and will break if I stand up. I have blurred vision and fevers the whole nine yards. My doctor is so hard to get in to see and when I tell the nurse she says" oh thats not due to the prednisone". Yeah right. It is a bad drug. I have Chrones and have requested Remicade , which is an alternative drug which I know people that are on it and have done very well. But to my first point there are alot of side effects due to drug and the moodiness is very apparent here. If you want to vent go elsewhere .

I have been on the Nuva ring for 8 months, I cannot take it any longer. The effects for me have been horrible. Here's the list:
Extreme mood swings
Anger for no reason or petty reasons
Any excuse to vent the anger, fights with loved ones.
Severe Depression, I have actually had sucidal thoughts.
Severe headaches and Migraines
Extremely hightened emothions
Crying all the time and for little or no reason.
Weight gain, and that's just a few!!!
As an insight of who I was before I started using the Ring. I was happy and fun, my moods never lashed back and forth with such force. I have never been depressed and for me to think of suicide is absolutely absurd, I have always been against, I think that is the most selfish thing anyone could ever do. As far as emotions go...I have always been an insecure person, as much as most women. But, like this..no way. Every emotion known to human kind was just magnified to the 1000th power. It's insane what these hormones can do to a womans body!!! They can make us think we're crazy. We should all be warned. I have stopped the Nuva Ring and am now using a diaphram and spermicide. It has only been a short while and I feel so much better, I smile now. To anyone who is using the ring and feels the way I felt, in my opinion...take it out NOW. Don't wait it only gets worse.

Hey all,
Just to update those of you who want to know how long it takes for yasmin to completely flush out of your system. There is no real answer to that. Just like each persons reactions to yasmin cannot be compared to someone elses, the same is with detoxification. Some of you got better within days or weeks, and then there are those who still struggle after months.
I for one am now 3 months post yasmin. Whilst on the pill my reactions were relatively minor. However since I came off it i've been cursing the day I went on it. I mentioned on another post that initially I started to take it to regulate my period as I had an eating disorder.....like in not wanting to gain weight.
I was very advanced in recovery when I stopped yasmin and shoot..........i gained 8 lbs in water weight within 3 days. No period for 3 months thereafter and I keep being congratulated upon my pregnancy...lol...
You could imagine what this does to my ego and let alone recovery. I just slid back to all my old habits.
Also I'm still experiencing heart palp every night/low libido in bed and it deprives me from my sleep. So at night it's the palps, by day its the water weight so I have neither night nor day.
Whoever has any hesitations of starting this pill, true not all bodies are alike, but after seeing so many people suffer immeasurably, why become another victim when there are so many other options out there!
This forum is great ladies. At least I have where to vent my frustrations and I hope you all have a speedy recovery soon.
Me-at my wits end.
Take care,
Sherry

Both my 2 & 6 year old boys were given this drug by their pediatrician. I was told not to worry as there were no side effects. I am not sure what planet he is on but let me tell you, i have never spent more time at the emergency room !
my kids went in distress breathing with no oxygen getting to their lungs. theirs throats automatically closed off . could not speak & if they did, it was so hoarse that you could not hear anything. irratic behavior & panic attacks with screaming non-stop saying they couldn't breath. rash, belly pain, mouth & throat pain, etc. Solution was to put them on the mask every 4 hours or rush to ER 2 OR 3 times for a stronger mask. this has gone on for over a week. 4 doctors have seen them & everyone was treating them for asthma & croup. not once was this drug questioned. it wasn't a concern until the side effects got worse as the days pass. After my husband & I did research in between the hospital visits, we discovered it was all from this drug. every side effects mentioned is what my 6 yr old has. today, I finally took the pills & chucked them . My son was just given pro-vent and went in to distress with his breathing. I am at the end of my rope as I don't know where else to turn. As a mother, I am now terrified of giving them anything else as I can't bare to watch them struggle anymore to breath. My problem with this is that no one would consider this drug to be dangerous & trust me it is. I am telling the pharmacy, all Dr's everyone about this site & so should you. we are our childrens keepers. god help us all.

if you wish to get rid of the insomnia
they have found that acidic food drinks et cetera cause the kidneys to vent it more rapidly
so a few hours before you wish to sleep drink orange or grapefruit juice.
or gatoraid which has citric acid.
ot take potasium citrate and drink a bunch of water.

i have tried this and it works
