Now it makes sense why doctors were so eager to prescribe Lipitor. Pfizer has been hit with a 2.3 billion penalty for illegal marketing promotions of 13 drugs that includes LIPITOR. They were awarding doctors free golf, massages, and resort junkets for "pushing" Lipitor, Viagra, Zoloft and 9 other drugs.

i have been on lisinopril for over 10 years and only here lately i have been experiencing some sexual behavior problems, erection does not seem to stay strong, i will see my doctor next month for advice, i am now 67 years old and possibly that could also have something to do with, other symptoms mentioned here were very small so far.

I think i'm relatively young (29) however I was/am having problems emptying my bladder when urinating. Basically I finish and then a few minutes later some urine is still dribbling. My doctor gave me samples of flomax about a week ago. Recently i've been noticing my erections are awful and orgasm is weak. I checked this message board to see if anyone else was having the same problem. Not sure whether I should keep taking this or switch to uroxatral, another drug that i've taken in the past to stop the dribbling

I started taking Flomax six months ago, and yes the dreaded non-ejaculat side effect was there. So my Doctor prescribed Viagra,..........Let me be the first to tell you..... My wife and I are both happy again. The dizziness went away in about two weeks I feel great now. I take my Flomax twice a day.

I am a 41 year-old male and my doctor started me on 20mg of Simvastatin in January 2008 and subsequently increased it to 40mg (wanted me to go to 60 mg). While it has controlled my cholesterol well, I have had two major side effects. I've had extreme difficulty getting and maintaining erections. Similar to another poster, my doctor claims these are not side effects and also prescribed Viagra. The Viagra worked but, of course, was very temporary. Also, since boosting my dose I have experience non-stop flem in my throat...very, very annoying.

In November, I said enough is enough. Within a week, my libido recovered and I feel like I'm 20 again. Also, while the flem problem remains to some extent, I have noticed a significant but not as rapid disappearance of this side effect.

Regarding the libido, another poster said "My wife says it is psychological." Please tell her I disagree. I too am convinced that Simvastatin ruined my libido.

I am a 55 year male and my doctor started me on 20mg of Simvastatin in Sept 2006 and has subsequently increased it to 40mg. I try to keep very fit through lots of exercise. Fortunately I have not experienced any major side effects mentioned here and my cholesterol has decreased from 6.8 to 4.5. However, I am constantly tired to the extent that I often doze off at my desk at work. In addition, I am having extreme difficulty in getting erections. My doctor claims these are not side effects and has prescribed Viagra but even that is not working now. At Easter, whilst on holiday, I stopped the medication for a week, my libido recovered after a few days, and I was able to have normal sex again for about a month. During the summer, I stopped it again and within 72 hours my libido started to pick up. My wife says it is psychological but I am convinced that it is the Simvastatin. I am going to see if I can get a second opinion.

I am an active 60 year old. After being checked for diabetes I was told I was borderline and chose to try by changing my diet. Three months later at my next visit UI was told I was improved but my cholesterol was far too high and prescribed 40mg Simvastatin.Between then and the nest three monthly check I had numerous symptoms. My calfs throbbed, my shoulder ached and my sex drive decreased and I was always tired. The most frightening thing of all though was my concentration. I would be riding my motorbike or driving the car and suddenly snap to and realize my mind had been wondering and my concentration gone. (Ive had numerous near accidents.)
IU read on this site about "memory loss" and wondered if this was what was happening to me. My last three month visit was last week, my cholesterol is almost normal so I am stopping the pills and seeing what happens.

Boy, after reading all the negative testimonials on Lipitor, I will throw mine in the garbage. That is what they are meant for. I have severe headache, and muscle pain, and foggy head, and I have only been on the crap for 2 months. I believe a lot of people's health is being ruined, and a lot of deaths are happening as well because of Lipitor and other statins. Mark my word, one day this drug will be withdrawn from the market, and the poor Pharmacutial companies will be in huge trouble.. They have the world convinced that we all need statins to bring cholesterol down.. The era when my parents lived , and lived long lives, and on farms, with butter, bacon, lots of fats, and never heard the word STATIN. I think every one that is writing to this forum and complaining about LIPITOR, should make a phone call to PYzier and tell them your side effects, that is the only way anything positive will come from this forum.. thank you for listening... I have called Pyzier and told them as well.

I have been taking 40mg of Lisinopril daily for over 5 years, which has successfully lowered my blood pressure. I thought the drug was fine - however, I do occasionally experience ED, and to be sure of successful performance, I need to take 50 mg of Viagra. My testosterone levels are fine. My doctor has ascribed the ED to my 3 - 4 glasses of wine each evening - saying that if I reduced the wine intake to 2 glasses, the problem would go away. After reading these accounts, I'm not sure it is the wine. I did experience severe leg cramps at night for 2 - 3 years - but those have stopped, and I have not had any of the other symptoms mentioned.

Very interesting read, I started taking Lisinopril last year to help my borderline high blood pressure. After taking it, it seems that my sexual sensation has decreased dramatically. I thought I would wait to see if it would come back & it has not. I went to my HMO & the Doctor could not find anything wrong, he checked my PSA's & testosterone levels & they were normal but albeit at the near bottom of the normal range. So he prescribed Viagra. This has not helped, in fact I now have headaches, stuffiness, pupils constricted so much that it is hard to look out doors because it is so bright. The Doctor also told me that he has never read anything about what I am experiencing in any medical journal & just by looking at him & reading in-between-the-lines he thinks that it is all psychological. Maybe it is but I feel as if something is wrong. I do the treadmill at least two times a week up to 3 miles at a time & on a 5% incline & walk at a 4 MPH up to 38 minutes at a time.

I just want to make another post about studying Singulair in premature babies. There is a person who is very dear to me that I remind practically every day that a scientist proves what is NOT true just the same as a scientist proves what is true. I have read hundreds of Merck studies on montelukast. Does anybody ever say - NO - not true? So with all those YES men behind them, Merck experiments on premature babies. Oh, my God. Where does this end?

I would like other people's opinion of Merck's study about using Singulair (montelukast) on neo-nates - premature babies. This absolutely freaks me out. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00492102?intr=%22Montelukast%22&rank=7

I have been on seroquel since july 2006.I take 200 to sleep at night, although in times of stress I add 25mgs pills as needed, and I also take effexor xr 37.5 and 75.First, the good effects- the combo got rid of the crazy highs and deep dark despairs of the lows.It got rid of the compulsions, the anxiety, social phobias lessened, unbidden harming thoughts, and the ocd rituals, and delusions...So it has been a real lifesaver for me.Now, on to the side effects.
I have gone from size 12 to size 16. thats a lot! I know its the seroquel, cause and effect. I got a foot infection from trying on shoes at the outlet mall-(never again) although I have never ever had one before, and i am 55.Guess what- I am still getting flareups of infection 2 1/2 years later! And isnt that a diabetes sign? The rest of the side effects are somewhat helped by drinking water. The side pains, occasional digestive issues, dry mouth, snoring, nonexistant sex life, confusion, memory issues, and the need to consume, and consume, food, are all there.Ive been existing on samples of these meds, but samples are no longer available, and the cheapest price for my meds as above is just over $800 per month.I cant possibly pay for thisI would be happy to take something else that didnt have side effects, and cost less, but what?

My husband started taking Simvastatin about 6 weeks ago. Since taking it he has been experiencing sexual problems. Is this related to the drug? It has never been an issue before.

FOLLOW-UP to Nov. 23rd posting. Great news! My father has been pain-free for one week now. After he stopped taking Lipitor (but still on Plavix), he was still having some pain in his body. We decided to stop taking Plavix in case this was interfering with trying to "flush out" the remnants of Lipitor. Within one week of stopping Plavix, the pain became less and less, until finally there was no more pain. My father is now back to normal and has not felt a pain in his body for over a week.

On another note, I just finished reading "People's Pharmacy" advice column in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper. Someone mentioned taking Cholestyramine (comes in powder form) for high cholesterol and having NO muscle pain. The advice columnist, Joe Graedon, a pharmacologist, wrote that Cholestyramine was prescribed long before statins were invented. The side effects may include constipation, flatulence and digestive upset.

I have been taking Xatral od10mg for 11 months. Since I started the MD told me that I may experience an improvement of my sex drive.....well, it has worked all the way around. I am considering myself impotent, I get very bad erections, orgasm is quite lousy and short, from the time sex starts to the time of ejaculation....seconds!!!
I have asked my doctor to change XATRAL or to add some kind of Viagra to the treatment.

I've been on Wellbutrin with a lot of success for almost 8 years now. It took several weeks of experimenting to find the right dose. Too much or too little had similar effects increasing my anxiety. Missed does constantly exaserbated the problem until I started XL. Shortly after starting I noticed a change in my sexual response --it just took a lot more to "get me going." That subsided somewhat after awhile, but I've also used Viagra about half the time. My mood improved but continued to fluctuate. My Dr. added a small dose of Zoloft a few years ago and I noticed a significant improvement in mood. Finally, a small dose of Ritiln had a major effect on a root ADD problem. I have felt more stable, confident and productive ever since. However, my sexual responses has decreased again in recent months. Viagra has even become unrreliable. I am going to ask the Dr about going off Zoloft, but talk of permanent effects are worrisome. PS; regarding hair--not a big problem, though it is thinner now since 1999. Never mind that i'm 52 now!

I just started Lisinopril yesterday. I have stage 1 hypertension. I run maybe a mile or so a day.Use weights maybe 40 minutes after run. I noticed that my run today took a lil longer to get up kinda. Like I was a lil drowsy or something. Well its kinda early yet for me to have conclusions. Doc wont give me viagra til BP is under control. I appreciate info given in forum for a newbie thanks to all.

I began taking Toprol as I left the hospital after a mild heart attack in March ('06). 100 mg at first, then 150. I kept expecting my sex drive to come back as I recovered from the HA, but it never has. Viagra gives me an erection but the problem is, I don't care. Sex has no meaning, I don't care about it. I am tired most of the time and even when well rested, 3 hrs is as long as I can do anything. I never have an appetite anymore. How do they expect me to function?

I'm Bipolar Mixed, OCD and I've been taking 50 mg. Topamax daily for about 3 months now and I have noticed fatigue, mild depression, decreased libido, and impotence since using this drug. I also take Paxil 20 mg. and Wellbutrin 150 mg. to try and combat the impotence. I don't know if I will have to discontinue Topamax, increase Wellbutrin or add Viagra; these meds are getting expensive. The Topamax calms my mood and helps with the appetite increase from Paxil though. Also, I noticed an increase in the decrease of libido once i started Topamax in addition to Paxil's contributing impotence. Any input would be helpful.

Picked up a prescription for Lisinopril today. 20MG tablets for High Blood pressure. 57 yo male, smoker, beer drinker, chronic bronchitis. (Yeh, I know)
Was on beta blockers before (Tenormin) At night cramps in feet and calf mucles, cough, diareah, lethargic, fatigue, cough and most importantly IMPOTENT, Viagra is not all its cracked up to be.
So, as far as side effects, looks like they about simular, but I sure hope the impotency problem will be solved.
I'll take the stuff stuff tomorrow, but thanks to this site, I'm warned. Thanks to all. I asked my doctor to switch me to an ACE inhibitor. I want a normal sex life back, as I did before the Beta blockers, then I think I can live with some of the side effects.
I'll report back in a month.
