I have such a similar story. I had my Mirena inserted in Feb of 2008, and I got married in June of 2008 (I was a virgin, so I have no kids). I had heavy camps and spotting that tapered off over a 2 week period. The first thing I noticed was a complete lack of sex drive, even before I got married (which made waiting a whole lot easier ; ) ) After marriage, the only thing I could explain my lack of sex drive was the Mirena as I noticed the changes right away. Despite that my husband and I made the decision to keep it in. Mainly because we were still paying for it. It has been paid for now for about a year, but we kind of got used to me having it in, so we haven't gotten it removed. About 4-6 months ago my hormones started cycling and I would go through periods of depression but would always come back out. About 1 week ago all that changed, I have been depressed, unmotivated, fatigued and achy for over 1 week and I really can't explain it except the Mirena as I'm not ill. My family has started to notice my behavior being abnormal as it is over the Holiday season and my husband although super understanding is extremely worried. I think I'll be having my Mirena removed ASAP, it really is annoying to pay so much only for something and then get less than 50% of its value out of it. I have also experienced major headaches, as well, but my 2 strongest symptoms are the lack of sex drive, and extreme fatigue.

My daughter just turned 19 years old yesterday. She is a Christian and has kept herself pure and plans to until marriage. She attends a Christian University. She had her last gardisil shot in May. Since this shot she has been complaining of severe fatigue, dizziness and has had no menstrual cycle. My first thoughts were concerns that this was caused by the gardisil shot. She just saw a doctor at her University last week. All the test run were negative and the doctor wants to further test for osteoporosis and place her on birth control pills to regulate her periods. She does not want this. The doctor did not perform a pap smere due to her being a virgin.I have contacted our local doctor and was informed that there was no way to tell if any of her symptoms could be side affects of the gardisil shots she received. My husband decided to investigate the side affects of gardisil and came upon this web-site. I am just wandering if this should be legally investigated and how could someone find out if there are legal ratifications for this problem. I am just praying that these are temporary symptoms and my daughter will recover and be able to have a children after marriage. Please pray with me and I will for each of you as well.

I started on the NuvaRing in April of this year, so this is my 4th month on it. The first month was great! I loved that I didn't have to think about it daily and my libido was through the roof! The only side effects: I noticed immediately that it increased my discharge, which was a little uncomfortable on a day-to-day basis but was very nice for making love. The discharge was also a whitish color, which threw me off because I'm used to it being clear but my doctor assured me that all was normal. Also, it would occasionally fall out during more passionate sex, which wasn't a big deal. I just washed it off with cold water and reinserted it. The second month, things seemed great until the last half of the month. I noticed that there wasn't as much discharge and I would get a slight burning sensation after sex. About a week later, I came down with a full blown yeast infection. I hadn't had a yeast infection in 10 years! I treated it with an OTC 3 day suppository, which seemed to help it a little. I removed the NuvaRing like normal and a few days later I started my period. Things seemed to go back to normal and a week went by without much problem. The middle of the 3rd month I was slammed full force with yet another (or the same) yeast infection, plus bacterial vaginosis as well. I asked the doctor about the NuvaRing and it possibly causing/aiding yeast infections. She assured me that it wasn't possible for the ring to cause infection. She gave me instructions on how to properly rinse it off in case it ever fell out again. She prescribed me 2 doses of Diflucan for the yeast and an antibiotic for the BV. I took both and afterward things seemed fine for another 2 weeks. This week, I noticed that I had a weird itchy feeling down there before bed and sure enough when I woke up in the morning it appeared I had another yeast infection. I called to make an appointment but the nurse just called back and prescribed me 2 more Diflucan pills and told me to give one to my partner. I asked again about the NuvaRing perhaps being an aid in the appearance of these infections and again she told me that it wasn't possible. At this point I am really confused. I don't know if I have a really bad yeast infection due to the ring or if my boyfriend and I are simply reinfecting each other. I also asked about whether I should discard this NuvaRing and start a new one after the infection clears up and got a very vague response of "it's your call". I really don't know whether to can the NuvaRing or keep going a little longer to see if this is all a big coincidence. I just think there isn't enough known about the NuvaRing...by my physician anyway. More side effects to note in the fourth month: weight gain, loss of sexual desire, vaginal dryness (the discharge was short-lived), irritability, crying fits. I'm just at a loss...I really wanted this to work for me...

I'm almost 20 years old and started taking BC to regulate my periods a few years ago and help with extreme cramps. I started on Yasmin and was on it for about 5 months and then started seeing a new OBGYN who suggested trying Yaz. I was on Yaz for about a year and a half and it worked great. But then I started getting really painful ovarian cysts. To help with the cysts my doctor switched me to another BC which made me extremely depressed and emotional. Now I am finally on Femcon FE and have been fo about six months. I haven't had a problem with another cyst again and things were working out fine... until about 3 months ago I skipped a period. No big deal I thought to myself, it is definitely not possible for me to be pregnant, its been over a year since I've had sex, so i figured it must just be stress or the way I'm eating or something..

Well it's been 3 months and still no period. I know most ladies would love to not have one but I'm starting to worry if this is something that is normal. I honestly don't know if it has anything to do with Femcon but I have a strong feeling it does because I haven't been stressed, my eating habits haven't changed and I know it is not possible for me to be pregnant. I am going to see my OBGYN soon if I still don't have one after this next pack but I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced the lack of a period as a side effect of this medicine because on this site I mostly only see women who have it too often.

On May 11th, Monday, I started feeling lower abdomen pain and though it was gas. When I went to the doctor the next day, she took a urine test and told me I had a bladder infection. She prescribed Sulfa for 5 days, 2x a day. This is my last day and I have one more pill to go. The first day I took it, I woke up with a stiff neck. I thought I was getting better until this morning when, for the first time, it actually burned to pee and there was some blood spots. In addition, my stomach has gotten much larger than it ever has even when I gain weight. I feel like I might be pregnant because a few weeks back I was intimate with a guy and he placed his penis firmly on the opening of my vagina and was there for a while. He did not penetrate because I am still a virgin but could it be that sperm from his pre-cum might have entered my birth canal? But if my doctor took a urine test 10 days after that incident and nothing showed up to show I was pregnant, could it be because the pregnancy hormone wasn't at a detectable level yet? I have no idea. I just know that I am usually a very healthy and clean person and this has just thrown my body off track and I'm freaking out~

I was reading the comments on Tri-Sprintec. I have been on Tri-Sprintec for almost 3 years now and I do not have any of the symptoms that other people have experienced. I was told by my doctor that different birth control medications will affect you differently. He originally put me on birth control to clear up my acne. Tri-sprintec worked for me. I was a virgin when I got married at 25 years of age and I was still on tri-sprintec. I have not gotten pregnant on the medication and I have not had any bad symptoms. For those of you who have had bad reactions... I would take my doctor's advice and find another birth control that works for your body.

My granddaughter at my suggestion took her first Gardasil shot in Oct,
immediately her arm turned splotchy red and raise like jagged rocks. The
nurse was concerned but the PA was not. Now, I have read more on this
shot and my granddaughter and I have decided not to have the other 2
because the truth is she is a virgin and plans to stay that way. Also, this
week she had chest pains and they told her it was a pulled muscle. She
was so tired she slept for hours. She has also had nausea and diarrhea.
I would think long and hard before I took my daughter or
granddaughter to get these shots.. cjr

I started to take femcon in November of last year and ever since then i have been through nothing but hell i have been sick and in a lot of pain most of the time i never wanna do anything when i take it last month i didn't take it and i felt sick a little bit but before i got my period i felt so much better i took only one pill this month so far and i fell really sick i don't want to do anything i yell at everyone and im never in a good mood like i was before i started it i was and i still am very depressed if anyone asked me about taking this pill i would say no cuz like i said every since then i have been through hell and i have been putting my family through nothing hell. my experience on femcon was nothing but hell even when i took the pill i felt sick even if i didn't take it. if you are or anyone you know taking femcon i would talk to them or if it is you i would stop taking it and ask your doctor to try something new because who knows what will happen next if you keep taking it. i mean i have red bumps i don't know if it from not taking it or what but i have not had sex in a year and tha last person i had sex with was a virgin and i have been checked for everything so i know im clean but i think its from not taking the pill. my lower back hurts all the time from not taking the pill but im happy to say im going to try something new and hopefully it works out for me =] and i hope the women out there taking this will understand NOT TO TAKE FEMCON. it messes up your life!

My daughter is a 14 year old mentally disabled child who will be 15 next week. She was prescribed Risperdal last month. Her doctor wanted her taking the lowest dosage ( 0.5 ). She's non-verbal. So to get you to understand her wants and needs she uses gestures. I noticed since she has been on the medication that she is always wanting to be held. Was very quiet. Sleeping a lot. She wasn't constipated like the others here have brought up, but she always had diarrhea. Was gaining a lot of weight as well. But it was what happened this morning that made me panic. When I was giving her a bath this morning I noticed that she had a white drip on her leg. I didn't think anything of it because it looked like the liquid bath soap. She gave me a hard time to take her out of the tub, so I put my arms around her from behind causing me to put pressure on both of her breasts. Milk shot out from both breasts. Of course as the mother who knows for a fact that her daughter is a virgin I began to panic. With the recent weight gain and the enlarging of her breasts, and now this, my mind began to think negatively. But from reading what I have so far here on this site I now see that it's happened to others and that it IS the medication.

I've just started taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about two weeks and I've noticed a change in my personality. I feel dull, empty, depressed, irritated and all around confused. I hate it! But I don't want to stop because I have the worst cramps. I'm 20 and still a virgin and hope to stay that way for a bit but I'm afraid that if I stop it might mess with my mental state even more and cause me to be suicidal or something. Should I stop cold turkey or switch to something else? Help Me!!!!!!!!!!

I am 17 years old and before I started taking Yaz my periods were heavy and my cramps were so painful I could barely move, but it only lasted 3-4 days. I am on my second pack of Yaz and my period was a week late, when it did finally start I was glad that it was light, and my cramps are not as painful, but it has lasted 12 days and is still going. ( I am going to ask my doctor about that at my next appointment.) I don't know about loss of sex drive cause I am still a virgin and am only taking Yaz for fewer and lighter periods. I haven't smelled anything odd yet and I hope I never do. But I did get headaches when on my period and I was hoping Yaz would help that too, but it hasn't worked so far. Reading what other people have wrote has scared me a little cause right now my only problem is the length of my period. I hope I don't get anymore bad symptoms. Is there another kind of BCP I can take that doesn't cause so many problems? Cause I don't want to wait for these problems to happen to me, I want to prevent them!

This is the worst drug I've ever been on. This has totally destroyed my life, I took it for 8 years, in which time I felt severely depressed (much worse than the depression it was meant to be treating), irrational and no sex drive whatsoever. I stopped taking it 2 years ago and have extreme withdrawal symptoms for months on end, feeling nauseous, depressed etc and now that I have stopped my body has still not recovered from the side effects. I feel that if I had never been prescribed this horrific drug my life would not be the misery it is today.
