Hi. I've had the Mirena birth control for a little over a year now, and nothing but pain, confusion, and utter hell has come from it. I haven't had a period since the day my doctor put it in! I guess that is considered a blessing by most women but it concerns me. I have been diagnosed with not 1, not 2, but 3 Pelvic Inflamatory Infections since it's placement last year. The pain associated with this type of infection is excoriating. It quite literally feels like labor pains. I had contractions, which my doctor told me was just my uterus trying to push out the infection. But these didn't feel like regular contractions. There was no 1, 2 or 3 minute pause between them. It was an almost constant pain, only letting up for 1or 2 seconds and then continuing. I also had large amounts of yellowish discharge, moderate lower back pain, nausea and extreme headaches. I have scheduled a doctors appointment tomorrow to have it removed. GOOD RIDDANCE, I SAY! I have also had notable fluxuations in my mood and appetite. I have developed more acne on my face in the last year than I have ever had in my entire life! These symptoms seem almost constant and never seem to go away for more that a day or two. I too was told by my doctor that the symptoms would be minimal and that i was a perfect candidate for this particular contraceptive. Looking at all of these comments and side effects of other women posted here, I'de say that there are more women who have mirena and are having more than one complication out of it FAR out-weigh the women who have had no side effects. In my personal opinion i think that Mirena should be taken OFF the market and reviewed close and carefully again before putting back on the market to reek more havoc on general female population.

Wow. I am so grateful for this thread re: Gardasil. My daughter is 15 and for the past couple of years every doctor and nurse has advised me to get her vaccinated. I also receive forwarded e-mails from friends that only talk about the horror stories. The doctors say don't believe what you read on the internet. The last time she was in for a physical for her sports clearance, I signed the consent form for her to get the vaccine. I also told the nurse to leave it up to her. If she's ready to get it today, let her. If not, no big deal. Up until that time she felt she should get it. I was surprised (and now thankful) that when she came out of the room, she decided against it for no reason. She is the one that when she get a fever, it's severe and she hallucinates, ends up with the weird viruses and out of school for days, has been to the er thinking she was dying with unexplained severe abdominal pain, and even had scarlet fever last year. She's otherwise very healthy, she just gets hit with strange things. That being said, I have no doubt that she would be one of the girls with terrible, possibly life changing side effects and I just cannot take that chance. So, thank you to all for sharing your experiences and I am so sorry for all the pain and suffering this vaccine has caused you all. My heart goes out to you.

exactly two weeks to the day after receiving the gardasil shot, i was awaken in the middle of the night with severe stomach pains, vomiting, and uncontrollable diarrhea. after two hours of this my hands and feet went numb, i became extremely dizzy, and passed out. my husband took me to the emergency room right away. i was in the hospital for 3 days receiving morphine for pain and several several bags of fluid. i ran a 101.4 fever and was so weak i was unable to get out of the hospital bed. i have had stomach viruses plenty, this was not a stomach virus. i feel like i got severe poisoning from the gardasil shot. i will not be going back for the 2nd or 3rd shots.

As a fairly healthy 34 year old male, I went to my doctor for help getting over poison ivy mid-July 2008. I received the Kenalog 40 injection without being advised on any potential side effects. Within 36 hours I started having severe anxiety attacks with spikes in my blood pressure and vision problems (spotty, increased sensitivity to light). These attacks continued for 4-8 weeks during which time I underwent an MRI (head), stress test, and blood work to make sure nothing else was causing my symptoms.....conclusion: everything normal. My doctor prescribed me Xanax to help with the out of control anxiety. Started feeling more normal 60-90 days later. I started trying to run on my treadmill to get back in shape at the 90 day mark, and once again....symptoms returned. It's been a couple of weeks and I'm getting closer to being back to "normal", but I have no idea how long it will be before the Kenalog has completely metabolized out of my system, and I can get on with life. This has been a horrible experience and I would caution anyone from receiving this drug!

Concerned citizen!!!
Just had to share the news! 3 months after stopping singulair and taking omega 3 (for last 3 months) has resulted in my 6yrs olds cholesterol going down from 236 to 202! Absolutely no diet change, in fact he has been eating worse due to throat condition/tonsils. Makes me go HMMMMM!!!

Below is the latest ADR report on Singulair from the United Kingdom. I deleted side effects reports by very small numbers of patients in order to keep the post briefer. This shows the total number of reports since Singulair was approved in the UK.
I don't know the total number of prescriptions for Singulair in the UK. It is considered expensive.

My Mirena Removal....
So i posted here a few weeks ago after I found this site. I had EVERY side effect listed and was so freaked out that i immediately made an appointment for removal.
For those of you reading and wondering what the removal is like..
Well, NOTHING like the insertion. I was so so nervous and it was over before we actually started. The DR was surprised that i was back in his office to have this removed. He then proceeded to do an ultrasound to be sure it was placed properly before removal. And yes, all was OK on the position of it. I explained to him my reasons and he looked at me like he had never heard this before. I honestly can not imagine with all the women he sees that NONE of them have complained. But...as I was getting dressed afterwards, I took a good look in his office. There was Mirena literature ALL over the place. In fact, that was the ONLY thing he was advertising. Not to mention...they made me pay up front with the insertion back in Nivember...billed my insurance and I still have yet to receive my reimbursement. Oh yeah, and that...they charge more than the actual Mirena costs, then they bill your insurance for the price they know they will pay and the DR then makes about $150 profit. Nice.
Ok, back to my side effects post Mirena. The removal was not painful at all. I did spot for about a week- nothing too heavy but it was clotty and def there.
A couple of days after the removal it felt like I was coming out of my skin something terrible. I figured this was my body adjusting to the lack of hormones. I also had some headaches.
It has now been 2 weeks and the spotting has disappeared. I also can see the bloating of my stomach is starting to go away. It looked like I was about 4 mos preggo while I was on it. I also have an increased sex drive. And sleep-- well let me tell you, I have not slept this good in a very long time. I am actually sleeping more than 6 hours now and the night sweats have also discontinued.
I can't believe EVERY time I come to this site and look up Mirena ALL the people that have posted their experience as being negative. Yet, the DR looks at me like I am crazy! I have been seeing him for years and I have never complained about something like this. I really am so happy that I have it out and wish I would have done my research on this prior to insertion (which was one of the most painful things ever!)
So..for those of you out there that are either contemplating having it inserted...I say NO WAY. And for those of you out there that are nervous about the removal or not sure..I SAY YES, DO IT! For our bodies to be reacting this way, it is clear to me that it should not be inside of us. Listen to your bodies...they really do speak to you and let you know when something is not right. Forget about the DR saying it is safe or he has not heard of any of these side effects...YOU be the judge.
Good luck! And I promise it gets better once you get that lil' demon out!

I was on Seroquel for about a year or so for "anxiety" and insomnia. I gained weight and noticed a thick white coating on my tongue while taking it. I eventually came off of this medication when I suddenly began to lose weight rapidly - I dropped to 88 lbs. My hair also began to thin considerably, especially around the temples and top of my head.
None of this even matters because the anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder was actually chronic Lyme, babesia, and a number of viruses - along with an allergy to the wireless boom.
If you've been placed on this medication, please join lymenet and find an LLMD. Also, google 'electromagnetic hypersensitivity' and 'microwave sickness', because US doctors are clueless. It's more profitable to prescribe psych meds than to remove the cell phone masts and antennas that are causing "mental" illness.

Ok, I took this because I needed to feel better fast for a weekend with all my guy friends. I am a single girl and I was actually HOPING to come out of this weekend with a boyfriend outta one of 'em...so I wanted to be over my yucky cold/flu symptoms so I could have a good time! Ok...I was NOT feeling well after the third day, my stomach was killlllling me, and I wasn't over my cold stuff either. So by the weekend I was finally feeling a little better but I had started having diarrhea and (even worse!) TERRIBLE GAS. I should have just stayed home, but I went on this roadtrip anyway. I was thinking I would be able to hold it until we stopped, but I started having terrible gas buildup and I just had to release it or I thought I would get sick. Ok, let me just say that we had to pull the jeep over so one of my friends, the really cute one that I liked, could throw up. It was terrible....and even worse they all knew it was me. In my opinion, the slight relief I got from my cold was not worth the tradeoff in side effect. So thanks to my Z pak experience, I was called "Hell Raiser" and other nicknames the rest of the weekend. I will not be using this product again.

im tore all to pieces my 22 month old had a sandpaper feeling type rash thats been there 4 2 weeks . a few days prior to the rash he had a slight caugh and stuffy nose. his dr said it was a viral rash. then a few days later developed a temp of 103. we took him back to the ped. she said he had a upper respitory infection and fluid in his left ear, she prescibed omnicef. the rash seems to be more prominent now. im very worried. she did a cbc and the white count was 15000 and the platelets were slightly elevated. she wasnt worried though and said it was a viral rash, let it run its course. so? i dont know if i should be worried or not>help

My daughter has been diagnosed with Asthma since she was very young. Her symptoms always worsened during the winter, with viruses and such. A few years ago she was put on Advair as a controller, along with Singulair. She developed hives that same winter. I laugh now to think of it, out of pure irritation. She has been battling chronic hives every winter since. Winter is the only time she is on her asthma controller as well. No doctor has been able to give us a reason for the hives and says we may never know why. I have been doing my research and discovered hives are a side effect of Advair- Why on earth didn't one of the many doctors at U of MN or Mayo catch this???? Not to mention the initial doctor that put her on the Advair and saw her for the hives at the start of this catastrophe??? Her hives were so severe her eyes were swollen shut and her lips swelled. Needless to say, she will not be taking this medication again!

My 11 yr. old daughter does not have asthma yet was put on advair 250/50 because she wheezes everytime she gets a respiratory infection. She is now recovering from the sinus infection that put her on this medicine. She has been on this medicine for 1 week and a day, her last day. Her side effects include...
1. fatigue
2. heartburn
3. mood swings
4. depression
5. acne and red splotches on her face
6. headaches
7. bloody noses (both nostrils at same time)
All this after only one week. She has taken her last dose.
By the way, 2 days after her doc put her on an antibiotic for the sinus infection, no wheezing. She only wheezes when she is sick.... How does advair prevent that? Does it stop her from contracting viruses, I don't think so. New doctor? I think so!

I am in total shock!!! I have been at the hospital with my dad for 9 days now and not one person can figure out whats going on. We came in through the ER with extreme pain redness and joint swelling in shoulders, hands, elbows, ankles. Thought it might be gout so they withdrew fluid from ankle that was milk colored, no gout crystals. He started lisinopril 5 weeks ago at 5 mg per day he was on Inderal LA before with no problems. The pain has moved through out his body and he now has generalized pain weakness. He was taking lipitor but has not taken for the last 8 days so I was thinking if it was the lipitor this would have stopped by now. They ruled out any bacterial infection, labs and blood cultures have all been clear. They started checking for off the wall crap viruses like yellow fever, west nile virus, parvo virus and denguey SP? He has not had a fever what so ever and has not been out of the country for 30 years. I am going to make sure he does NOT take this drug starting in the AM does anyone know how long before the side effects take to go away?
